Jan31-2026 had someone give me an estimate to fix my house heater unit he found out it was blower relay that had to be replaced he quoted me $300 But he had to wait until Monday to get the part the coldest weekend in birmingham was ahead of us so I called one hour air . the technician showed up on time looked at the unit and said it was in fact the blower relay he brought in the part I stood next to him all the time he also replaced 3-4 short cables . Went outside looked at my unit bent down and touched the hoses and took a picture. Came back with paperwork and told me it was $530 when I told him that was way too expensive he had me sign paperwork I asked what was that for he said is acknowledging the problem is fixed and Said thst if I didn't want to pay he could take off the part and leave . Well I didn't want to freeze over the week end and figured I could talk to his supervisor and come to an agreement of some kind . Well I was wrong I have called Kip Nails supposedly he is the regional manager many times and he has not returned my calls . On my invoice which I received email after he had left . the technician added 265.00 for voltage rewire which he did not make me aware of or I didn't see him doing . If you must deal with this company have the technician send you the invoice before they leave don't leave them alone while they do the work and never pay them cash or with a check because the first thing they do is overcharge you then they cash your check and then they never return your calls . Supposedly did the maintenance for winter but as soon as we needed heat, it failed. Instead of coming out immediately to fix, made us wait and sleep in cold. Came out, scratched his head, and shrugged his shoulders. 50 bucks down the drain. Two weeks later, same issue. Came out and made a show of looking, shrugged again and insisted it was the thermostat. Another 400 down the drain. 24 hours later..same issue. Again wanted to make us wait. Told them to have supervisor call because this was ridiculous. Called another company, they came first thing, spent time and energy and actually did tests to find the problem. And still no call from this joke of a company. 800 bucks total down the drain. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. (Short version: After paying $503, my home is hotter than it was before One Hour Heating and Cooling visited my home.) I called on Monday because I had issues cooling my home below 75-76 during the hottest part of the day, but it would cool to 70-71 at night. Highs in Bham, AL have been ~95. While the temperature inside my house was not unbearable, I wanted to have my HVAC unit checked out before the next heatwave hit. MONDAY: The technician arrived at 2PM. At this time, the temperature inside my home was 75, and the outdoor temp was at its high of 92 (comfortable, but not hitting my sweet spot of 72). By 2:30PM, the technician completed the diagnostic, told me that my unit was low on freon, and quoted $503 to add 3 lbs. He told me that I should be good to go in a few hours but advised that there MIGHT be a leak and it's possible the freon would continue to leak. He told me if there was a leak, the freon would only last me a few months, and I might back in the same position come Sept/Oct. Because the temperature in my home was 76 during the hottest part of the day, I decided to go ahead and have the technician add freon for $503. Based on his assessment, the worst outcome would be that my HVAC would be functioning as before come early Fall when outdoor temperatures are cooler. I figured adding freon would get me through the hottest months of the year and into Fall. Because my AC cooled fine at night when the outside temps were cooler, I was OK with this outcome. It would give me time to shop for a company to replace my system. 3-8PM: While the outdoor temps were dropping, the temps inside my home were rising. By 8PM, my thermostat was reading 84-85. MY HOME HAD NEVER EVER BEEN THAT HOT BEFORE - even during the hottest days the week before when Bham was under a heat advisory. THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE MY HOME HAD INCREASED 10 DEGREES AFTER PAYING $503 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I called customer service that night and explained what was going on. They told me they would send a tech the next day (Tuesday) but couldn't give me a time window so I had to use PTO again to wait on the tech. Monday night was extremely rough, with inside temps reaching 86 while outdoor temps ranged from 70-76. At one point, it was 15 degrees hotter inside than outside. TUESDAY The tech arrived at 11:20AM (same tech as before). At ~12PM, he informed me that the compressor wasn't running because the capacitor was bad. I asked why he added freon the day before if the problem was a bad capacitor. He told me that the compressor was running fine and the capacitor wasn't broken the day before. He said it must have "COINCIDENTALLY" failed in 1-2 hrs after he left (I kid you not, he said this was a COINCIDENCE, & he sees it all the time). He changed the capacitor and told me the freon levels were perfect and where they should be. I was annoyed, but hopeful my AC would be fixed. After ~3hrs, the temp inside had dropped to 80-81...which is still 6 degrees HOTTER than before the tech ever came out. I called customer service again at ~4:45. They told me they could send a new tech the following day, but because they were so busy, they couldn't give me a time, meaning I'd have to take PTO for a 3rd day to wait for a tech. They also told me it'd be another $89 for them to visit if they discovered a "new issue" with my HVAC. She said if there weren't any "new issues," then I wouldn't be charged the $89. Seeing how my capacitor "COINCIDENTALLY" broke in the 1-2 hr after the tech left, I was obviously not OK with paying another $89. As he said, they see these COINCIDENCES ALL THE TIME, so I have no doubt there'd be another coincidence. After talking to her manager, they agreed to waive the $89 fee. Because I can't take off from work again tomorrow, I'll have to wait until Friday for a new tech to come out. As of 6:30PM on Tuesday, its 81 degrees (hotter than it was before they ever visited). We'll see what Friday brings. read more

Got home from a long day at 7:20. AC broken. Called these guys at 7:45. I'm thinking One Hour? That's a big promise, but okay. Had another call before me, but showed up at 9:16. Rudy was nice, polite, knowledgeable, the soul of professionalism, and had that thing purring by 9:45. I am now basking in the subarctic blast that is my functioning air conditioning. The service men were very timely on their scheduled appointments. They were polite and professional. My unit was $7,000 and was installed in 1 day. I had a little difficulty with the installation of my filter being in the wall intake for easy access. Once I spoke to them on the phone, 2 vans with service men came within the hour to solve the problem. I received some filters as well for my unit. Great company, very knowledgeable, very timely, and easy access 24 hours a day. read more

So our air conditioner went out a few weeks ago due to lightning striking it and we have insurance through Allstate. Allstate showed us that they are a HORRIBLE company when it comes to home insurance claims by the way, because they wanted us to wait approximately 2 weeks for an engineer to come out and inspect it. Of course that was a no-go seeing that there is a baby in the house (my baby) and we live in ALABAMA so we decided to review other options. We then proceeded to contact this company and they are some of the most genuine and professional people I have ever come across. They went and got us portable air conditioners until they were able to fix the air conditioner and they took their time in installing our new unit. The men go by the name of Cedrick Barnes and Ephraim Johnson! I highly recommend them to ANYONE! They are life savers! read more

One Hour Service is my go to number when my home needs attention. I like the twenty four hour appointment setting hotline with a knowledgeable and well spoken live person. Service is scheduled to fit my calendar. Only highly trained, mannerly, clean cut, licensed and experienced techs come to my home. They explain all the options and somehow find ways for me to get what I want done at the most competitive rate. I have found that no job is too small or too big for them to handle. I especially like that service includes guarantees, clean up and even patch & paint when necessary. read more

Not sure we needed a new A/C unit.When your people were installing discovered line from compressor to AC was probably cut by our yard service people.We called to have you check our unit when compressor did not come on and were told wires to unit were old and frayed.Dont know if your people saw that wire was cut ?? I can't even verbalize how upset we are with this "company". Every phone call is a sales pitch for their monthly service plans. We had them come out in June to do a diagnostic and then paid almost $500 for a replacement part. The A/C worked for all of 2-3 weeks. The same things started happening and it stopped working. They refuse to cooperate with us and actually fix the a/c. All we asked was to pay 1/2 of the "rescue rate" to come out and actually do a full diagnostic and fix it instead of just looking at the first sign of a problem. My husband has been on the phone with them for about an hour and nothing has been resolved. The first person we talked to put him on hold for over 30 mintues. We called right back and explained the situation AGAIN. The lady who answered said she knew who we were talking to and proceeded to put us on hold again. The last person we talked to gave us a run around and then HUNG UP on us. This is a very unprofessional company. All they have done is take our money and leave us with no home to stay in (mind you we have a 9month old baby, I am 22 weeks pregnant and a pup)! Beyond disappointed by One Hour Air. I would leave negative stars if I could on the count of they never fixed the issue and want to charge us more money just to look at it again.
