So we thought this place was closed until Wednesday but upon driving past it was hopping so went in. Did not disappoint. The atmosphere was so inviting. They had trivia - we didn't join but the host was making it very enjoyable. So now onto the food. Yummy!! We started with island guacamole- delicious. Service was amazing! Super nice folks that took great care of us (thank you!) The food was delicious. I'm still thinking about the fish sandwich! The fish was so crispy, and the slaw/pineapple combo was a shockingly incredible complement to it. My friend had the chicken and said it was the best she has ever had (and she's quite the foodie). We came here with high hopes to try the food, but didn't even get a chance to order any drinks or food. Once seated, we noticed the wait staff completely avoided providing service to multiple tables. Unfortunately, for us and other parties, it was over 10 minutes before a waiter walked past our tables. When a waiter finally came outside, he only engaged a table of two that had just been seated and completely avoided the other tables that were waiting much longer. Expensive for lunch but I'm guessing everything in Grand Lake is. Service was a bit slow considering they were nearly empty. Looked very nice inside but I sat outside under a covered patio which was very nice and was able to watch all the passersby. The bureau is just okay. I ordered a craft draft and it was nothing special. I will say the rice and beans and plantain that came with the fish tacos were delicious, but the tacos were nothing special and mostly tasted like blackened spice. Worst part was that each taco came wrapped in a flimsy, uncrisped corn tortilla when there should have been two because it completely fell apart when trying to eat it and was a complete mess so that's why they get this rating. read more

My friends and I came across One love by asking a shop employee where she would choose to go eat (as a local). It's in a touristy area but it is FAR from a 'high price for low quality' category. Everything we ordered (spicy tuna nachos, coconut chicken, coconut mojito, dessert plantains) was SO DELICIOUS. The tuna was delivered morning of. When you are in town for a few days, although you want to try new places, you sometimes still tend to find a "home base." This place was ours. After driving for five hours around a snowstorm, we needed food and drink. This place was perfect. Baxter (also apparently has an alternative identity as Felix) and Jewel were our bartenders, and they made our arrival fantastic start to finish. I had the Island Burger (including the pineapple that comes on it and is recommended) and it was delicious. Burger was solid, but the toppings and sauce made the taste awesome. The wife had the ramen with chicken and loved it. My favorite words together are "house made hot sauce," and Baxter had two of them for me. One was something green and magical, and the other was a maple Sriracha. Their aioli for my fries was also stellar. Service was efficient, personable, and energetic. The IPA they have in house is Hazer Tag. Given we judge our painkillers from The Soggy Dollar in the islands, I would rate theirs as top notch. They also have stickers in the islands that if you do an IG post with it, you get some free stuff next time in. Also, Baxter just bought 500 pens that say "Stolen from One Rum Kitchen" that he was very excited about as a marketing plan and needs help in distributing/marketing globally for everyone's next trip to Grand Lake. So, ask for a pen and make sure you give it to someone in an airport or something to help their cause. Background music made you believe there was a beach outside. If you don't like the prices, make sure to check out their happy hour (3-5 EVERY day), where much stuff is half price. Great value. Kelly and Kayle were also great behind the bar on our return trips. If in the mood for a shot, they have an awesome rum from Barbados behind the bar. We hit up the happy hour our other two days without even hesitating. I definitely recommend this place, and see you there...the next time we are up that way, or when I find those stickers in St. John in August and have to return for free stuff. read more

So nice to see some different cuisines in the small town of Grand Lake. This place definitely has a vibe, if you like it you love it but I can see it as a turn off for some people. The mixed drinks are good, a little sweet for my taste but for anyone that loves a tropical drink then it's perfect. I got the curry octopus wrap with curry slaw. ALL THE CURRY. Terrible service. OK food. Manager tried to make it up for it. I totally understand, it was Friday evening during peak summer -- there was only three of us, a small order, and we were prepared to wait. However, we watched as customers, who sat well after us, got their food while our waiter confusingly bounced between way too many tables. More than half an hour went by with zero attention from our server, and no food. Drinks sat in front of us empty as he went back and forth, like we didn't exist. I thought briefly of just leaving. It was getting dark and cold. My kid slowly descended into a bad mood. All she wanted were French fries! The worst part was the reaction from the wait staff. First, the server seemed a little drunk. At several points he sat down and yukked it up with folks, even with every table full of people. When we couldn't get his attention, my wife eventually asked the greeter what was going on with our food, and the greeter told us we should have said something sooner. Thanks for the advice! Then the server came out and kind of argued with us when we mentioned that other tables were eating before us. He pointed at one table, and said "They only ordered appetizers." He was gaslighting us: there was a different table that sat after us plowing through a whole meal while we watched. The manager eventually came out and comped the Cubano sandwich, and claimed something was wrong with the ticket printing system. He asked that we give them another chance. Look man, I appreciate the gesture, but it's highly unlikely. The food was ok. The Cubano sandwich was excellent. The curry nachos were fine, a lot of naked chips. The solo order of fries were OK. But the fries that came with the Cubano were cold and tasted like they were a day old. My eight year old daughter also has something she wants to say: "I was so hungry we left the table and looked for a snack for me from other stores. I was crying because I was so so hangry. The fries were OK, there were some burnt bits. I'd like to also say that I've never waited that long for fries in my whole life. And I love octopus in mine and that was a real plus. The Ramen bowl-- really recommend this! The flavor was so unique with the curry. We all loved that too! I love that they have good plantains too. Stopped by after our excursion to Rocky Mountain National Park. Definitely had good eats. But fair warning the food has plenty of heat. (Spiciness) may not be a great place if you have small children who can't eat spicy. Caribbean ceviche with octopus: 4 stars. Light tangy coconut flavors with chunks of coconut, octopus, pineapple and tomatoes. Wish they would chop the octopus piece up a bit more to make it easier to pick up on the chip. Maybe it's just me. Lobster taco: 4.5 stars. Delicious flavors. Spicy, creamy tangy. Lobster with a slaw in a soft taco shell. Treated great! Served with side of rice and beans. Didn't touch rice and beans so I can't comment but the tacos were devoured. Caribbean burger: 4 stars. beef patty with cheese, slaw, and slice of pineapple. I really enjoyed it. Ordered it hoping it wouldn't be spicy because I shared with my daughter. But there is some heat. Luckily she sucked it up and finished her half of the burger. Pretty good. I love Pepe's in Winter Park!! So when I heard about a new place in Grand Lake I had to visit. We both tried the Curry Carnitas Roti wrap since our friends were raving about them on our boat this summer. They are spicy, packed with flavor, and filling. I would order this again but can't wait to try more items on the menu. My husband got a healthy portion of plantains and I ordered the curry fries. We got take out and celebrated our Anniversary on the lawn at Grand Lake with a bottle of Champagne. It was a fun dining experience. The staff gave us two Kamikazi shots to celebrate our big day and they were a pretty pink color and tasted so delicous. The staff was really friendly. Although I enjoyed the Roti wrap it is large and perfect to share so next time we want to try new items on the menu like the Jerk Chicken. I love the Pepe's tacos so we have to try them too with the chips and guacamole. We don't get over to Grand Lake much but when we do we know where we will be dining. One love is not just a catchy phrase here. You can taste the Love and good energy in every bite. My hubs and I had pulpo tacos (Caribbean style) and let me tell ya they were delicious. Good ratio of ingredients and the octopus aka pulpo which can be tricky to prepare was incredibly tender. Staff is warm, good humored and friendly. One Love Rum Kitchen is a high energy place but without overwhelming you. The owner came by to chat and we just clicked.
