I've had more good experiences here than I could count. I have several wonderful years participating, competing & placing as a child with the gentleman that were once a part of Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy, and I'm delighted to find some of them are still here with the One Tribe team today. I look forward to returning for kick boxing as an adult. The rigor & pace are fairly self driven so I feel confident regardless of my current capabilities. Our son joined One Tribe a little over a year ago. After his pre school years during COVID, he was left needing more self esteem in crowds, more discipline in group settings, and more friends. He peered into the windows of the studio one day and we met Sifu Mike. We felt welcome right away. I've watched my son grow into a more confident and respectful young man over the past year. He loves Kung Fu and looks forward to class. Sifu Mike is his favorite as he enjoys the humor and good nature that he has with the kids. It is a great reason to get out of the house for all of us. There are events for the families often and they embrace community. I hope that he continues on his Kung Fu journey throughout his life. My daughter has been learning Kung fu at one tribe for two years and is thriving! She has gained confidence, improved coordination, and better listening skills thanks to the excellent teachers at One Tribe. Sifu Mike, Sifu Luke, Master Barbosa, and all the Sihings and Sijehs are amazing! They connect with each student, provide personalized feedback and training, and teach Kung fu with a focus on their values of respect, moral integrity, wisdom and kindness. My daughter really enjoys the classes, learning her forms, and sparring sanshou/ sanda style. A few standouts for us are their weekly seminars, which teach extra skills like self-defense, and the high number of strong female role models in their teachers and students (which inspires my daughter to do better!). They also offer online classes and have an app for signing up and scheduling. My two girls (three and five years old) were complete newbies when they joined the basically-free trial classes and we didn't quite know what to expect. But it was clear from the start that the teachers at One Tribe are patient, gentle, and experts at what they do. We have been coming back two to four times a week ever since. My daughter Amelia started going here end of January (she's almost 5) and she loves it. Not only is it a good physical activity, it teaches discipline and works of the child's ability to stay focused and listen. Plus they make it fun. I've watched a few different children start out classes and they are quite good at bringing a shy child out of their shell. Kids that will be nervous and crying at the beginning, but having a blast by the end. I'm happy with the amount of classes available to my child per week. read more

Never did I think I'd enroll my kids into kungfu, but after witnessing their first trial class with Sifu Mike and Sifu Luke, I was beyond impressed. This review is long over due... We love One Tribe Martial Arts Academy! It isn't just a place to learn Kung Fu, it is a community where we have developed close relationships with other families and the staff. There are classes for all ages and levels. The staff is amazing! Sifu Mike has created a safe, and fun place to learn Kung Fu for kids all ages and adults. The kids develop their Kung Fu skills, learn discipline & respect, all the while having lots of fun. The older and more advanced students are so great with encouraging and teaching the beginner/intermediate level students. I can go on and on about how wonderful One Tribe is... My son started his journey here when he was 3 years old (a couple months before his 4th bday...he is now 7). We figured we'd try it out and if it didn't work out, we'd try again when he was older. To our surprise, he loved the trial classes so we signed him up and the rest is history! We have been a part of this community for a little over 3 years and would have loved to continue but recently moved out of state. One Tribe has fantastic teachers (Master Barbosa, Sifu Mike, Sifu Luke) and assistants (other higher level students). My son's experience here far surpassed the expectations I had. He is fairly introverted and we wanted him to build up confidence and skill. He participated in several tournaments (both live pre-pandemic and virtual). During the pandemic shutdown, I was impressed with how fast One Tribe was able to get back to teaching the kids with virtual classes. This was when my son excelled the most (and was able to burn off some energy at home). Even as the state opened up, they continued to offer virtual and then outdoor classes for those still not comfortable or able to attend in-person. My goal was for my son to attend for at least a year since I know kid's interests can change. Watching the more advanced kids (some of which are young and relatively "small" like him) has made him want to keep going to get a black belt. We highly recommend this Kung Fu school and are very sad to leave this community especially since we have been lucky enough to see many of the kids grow and improve throughout the years. read more

Belt factory. Great for kids who want to have a little fun and work off some energy but if you are looking for quality teaching in Kung fu then move on. Once you have invested years of training and $ it is clear they have little to offer. Best to find a school that has a more serious mindset in the martial arts. They also have (young) kids teaching kids classes which should be a yellow flag. read more

My family and I are so glad we found One Tribe Martial Arts. This academy has been a special place in our heart. Our son Ethan is on the spectrum. When Ethan first shared with me and his dad his interest in Kung Fu, we were excited but yet had some reservations. It was always suggested we enroll Ethan in classes for kids with special needs. But from day one, Sifu Mike and Sifu Luke and the rest of the staff welcomed Ethan with open arms. They did not treat Ethan differently from the other kids and Ethan blossomed. Going on 3+ years, Ethan has gained confidence, learned complex forms and most importantly the importance of failing forward. When Ethan struggled with not advancing to blue belt, Sifu Mike and Sifu Luke encouraged Ethan not to give up and practice his form daily. They even stayed on us as parents to reinforce at home. So Ethan practiced daily at home and even signed up for a couple of private lessons. Ethan did just that - practiced daily - and ultimately made it to blue belt and then even more excitingly placed silver in the last tournament for his form. What I appreciate about this experience for Ethan was that it taught Ethan about perseverance, dedication, hard work and overcoming personal challenges of wanting to give up when the road looks tough. Watching him hit these different milestones has been rewarding and a bit emotional. Ethan even has a different pep to his step. He has made life long friends at the academy. Feeling more confident, Ethan is super excited to learn the staff. This excitement has even spilled over to school where Ethan's teachers have shared that Ethan is engaged during zoom and participates more in content discussion. When he is not sure of something he is even vocal about asking for help. So what I want say to any mom, especially to one who has a child on the spectrum, try out One Tribe Martial Arts. Not only is it a community but it so true that this academy is a tribe and like a village they are not just teaching a martial art but they teaching life long skills. One tribe has been a village for Ethan and they remind all of us there is nothing Ethan can not do when he put his mind to it and believe in himself. One Tribe teaches traditional Choi Lay Fut Kung Fu, kick boxing, and Sanda sparring. Great school for anybody who wants to get into martial arts or just wants to build a engaging workout routine that you can stick with. You will learn beautiful forms and learn to apply the techniques in the real world self defence scenarios. I love the instructors and the energy. Instructors are great with kids and the school is very engaging. All students get the individual attention and get to learn at their pace. Sifu Mike, Sihing Luce and all the instructors are really passionate about the art and are well recognized and respected martial artists and represented the school and the US in numerous international competitions. One Tribe is part Tat Wong Kung Fu community of schools and you will get to train with visiting instructors as well as participate in tournaments. For me, nothing beats martial arts as a workout. It is a great combination of strength, agility and flexibility. I would have never thought that I could do the kicks, handle the weapons and have the stamina. read more

I was looking for a sixth star, but it looks like five will have to do. I've been at One Tribe for nearly a year now and have enjoyed every [sweaty] minute of it. At 45-years-old, I've never been in better shape...and as a police officer, that is saying something. The teaching staff is incredibly supportive, but not overly-coddling. When it's time to work, it's time to work and I appreciate that greatly. All three of my daughters also attend and I've seen incredible improvement in not only their abilities, but in their level of respect, self-control, and dedication. They've tried a number of activities (dance, gymnastics, soccer), but Kung Fu has been by far their favorite. So long as I continue to live in this area, I plan on being a member of this Academy. It's fulfilled a life-long dream to not only learn Kung Fu, but push myself and excel to the best of my ability. I started Kung Fu here 7 months ago at age 50. I have always wanted to learn a martial art and also needed to get back in shape. This is a perfect spot for all ages-fantastic instructors who love the art and even love more teaching it to others. The schedule is very convenient for professionals with after work classes and weekend options too. It is hard but super fun. It is really amazing what they train your body to do even an old dude like me. For young and old and everyone in between, highly recommend. read more

We have been at One Tribe for about 2 months now, with our two kids in the tigers class (3-6 yrs). They absolutely love it! The Sifus are disciplined, knowledgeable, and fun. They keep smiles on the kids' faces, even when they are reminding them of the rules. They do not let those kids get rowdy. I am impressed with the discipline they are able to instill in kindergartners! I like that there is a class every day and that we can decide which times and days we will attend. It allows us to work around our summer schedule. Probably the icing on the cake for us is that there are a few work-out machines that parents are able to use while we watch the kids do their class. When we can afford it, my husband and I also want to sign up for classes here. We love it! read more

I cannot say enough about how great I think this school is. I placed my 4 year old son in it with hopes of improving his attention span as he is a very social child and seemed easily distractible in group settings. Within a short time I could tell such a difference in his ability to follow instructions, his self awareness, concentration, coordination and ability to work in a group. This is a great place to learn martial arts, kickboxing, and get in shape. I have been taking lessons here for nearly a year, and my kids have been going here for a year and a half. I'm so glad I brought them to One Tribe. Sifu Mike, Sijing Luke, and Sifu Barbosa are really good with kids. They make the lessons fun, and it helps them learn to follow directions, concentrate, and they are taught to be respectful and kind. Members are also allowed to take as many classes per week as they want. Most schools limit the classes per week. I highly recommend One Tribe Martial Arts. Join the Tribe! read more
