Visited on a Tuesday night. All the outdoor seats were taken so we sat indoors. We felt totally safe as the diners were spaced apart and there was lots of space inside. Emily, our server, was wonderful. We went with the Tuesday night special (the smash burger + kettle chips + draft beer for $10). We upgraded the kettle chips to California garlic fries and had no regrets. The smash burger was great! The bun was perfectly squishy allowing the crackly-edged smash burgers to shine, while holding up to the melted cheese and caramelized onions. No broken burgers here! The garlic fries are thin so they're extra crispy and held up to the garlic. Bonus: They're working on getting a permit that allows dogs in the outdoor seating area. read more

In GR for meetings, relied on Yelp (again!) to find a great local place, and One Twenty Three Tavern did not disappoint. We were lucky to arrive on a Monday night, which is "meatloaf" night. Half price on a favorite dish of the restaurant that I would gladly pay full price just to have again! We tried one twenty three for the first time last weekend and had a great experience! The service was prompt and friendly, food was delicious, and atmosphere was very comfortable. My husband and I ordered the chicken sandwich and the burger with fries and both were awesome options and very reasonably priced. New restaurant attached to the Celebration theater downtown. Very beautiful decor, nice high top tables and booths. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had the pick two at lunch for only $11. I got the Brussel sprout salad which was very unique and tasty along with the Italian "Meatball" sub. The sandwich was delicious; couldn't even tell it wasn't really meat and the bread it comes on is amazing. My friend had the Tavern salad and the California chicken sandwich. Both also came with fries. Great draft beer and wine selection, and the strawberry basil margarita was delicious. They are new, so be patient while the kinks are worked out. I came in today after trying to get a reservation at Founders (didn't pan out haha) with a few of my family members. The service was fast, and our server Hunter was very sweet. The chef delivered our food personally and the burgers had their "123" logo seared into the buns, which I thought was awesome. It wasn't busy at all, that was very convenient for a Saturday dinner. We got the California garlic fries as a starter, and they were super tasty and flavourful, however the garlic on top was quite strong. The only thing I'd say is that I wish the seasoning was more tossed/cooked in with the fries, as the garlic was a bit overpowering. The sauce on the side was quite phenomenal though! I believe it was Cajun aioli. My entree was the Smack Burger with a side of California fries. I did ask for my burger to have no tomato, and I found a slice of tomato in it shortly after my food arrived. It's a super small thing, I just picked it off, but it's definitely worth mentioning. The burger itself was delicious.. it was big, filling, and had me licking my lips as soon as they sat it down. I made it about halfway through (the fries app filled me up quite a bit), but I took it home and am currently munching on the leftovers as a late night snack. Overall, 4.5 out of 5 stars. Not sure where to start. The fried green tomatoes sigh. Tasted like cornmeal and unripened tomato. The kids Mac is a easy mac packet the server said. Also tasted soggy and watery. The burger was 14.00 fries not included.. just a upgraded steak and shake burger. Fries drenched in pepper. The blueberry lemonade taste sour yuck. Oh and $5.00 a glass for that. Three words: GARLIC GARLIC GARLIC! So this is a great addition to the Grand Rapids area. And I hear the restaurant business is a new venture for celebration cinemas corporation. I think overall studio park and the restaurant is a great start to rebuilding the Heartside community in Grand Rapids. However. Please please please. Lay off the garlic or at least use garlic that is minced (finer, I guess)! I had the fries which had good flavor until the I bit into the tooth scaled garlic clove and erupted my mouth. At the end of the dish I literally had a good handful of garlic cloves on my plate. (Not being dramatic) Main course. I had the grilled chicken plate, wow. This chicken was flavorful and juicy. I think it was great. It's tasted good. It came with beans, a vegetable blend, and.... well you might have guessed it... garlic! On a serious note, the chopped garlic was literally as big at the beans that came with the dish. I was confused as to what was a white bean and what was the garlic. I couldn't finish the side because, about the third time chomping down on a huge piece of garlic, thinking it was a bean, I had to stop. I like garlic, but come on man, this garlic gotta stop. In my whole life I have never been to a restaurant that plated food that had that large of garlic on the plate. And if they did it wasn't as much as here.
