My coworkers took me to Bestside for a welcome lunch for my new job and I am glad I had the opportunity to try it. While I've heard of it, and driven by a handful of times, I am never ready to try it... but finally, I had my moment! The parking lot is quite tight (it was filled with very large trucks so it felt a little limited driving through) but we found a parking spot outside very easily. Once we got inside, we were greeted quickly, sat immediately and the server came by to grab our drink order within seconds! She even provided us somer recommendations for food and I decided to go for the chicken sandwich and fries. Honestly, it was HUGE and I absolutely loved the fries. The sandwich was juicy and flavorful and I really want to come back to try more of their options... I just need to remember to go to the westside more often to grab dinner. read more

Bestside Bar & Grill was a super fun spot to watch an MSU basketball game recently. It was quite busy and there was a short wait, so be aware that it can fill up! Parking was a bit tricky as they have a small lot (made even smaller by the massive amounts of snow we have this winter!). The menu is large and has a lot of interesting and unique bar-type foods. Lots of burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, etc. We started with the dill pickle wontons, which were really tasty and nice for the group to share because they were cut into chunks. For my dinner I ordered the smokehouse burger with a side of tots. Nate got the junkyard with fries. Handhelds and burgers come with chips but you can upgrade to fries, tots, or onion rings for an additional charge. Our food came out pretty quickly and looked really good! My burger was huge and juicy and nicely cooked. The tots were interesting - they are housemade and reminded me of arancini. Very good, but not what I was expecting. I had a bite of Nate's sandwich which was kind of a loaded reuben, with bacon, haystack onions, smoked gouda, etc. Yum! Our server was really kind and service was great even though it was busy. Read amazing reviews about Bestside and it did not disappoint. Ordered the calzone that had chicken and white garlic sauce and it was so yummy! It's not stuffed full like your typical chain restaurants do, but it was the perfect amount and have good flavor, and was filling! We finished the night with their Brisket Bomb Shot, which is a whiskey shot with a side of their hot brisket au jus. They were very generous with the pour.It tasted like mega Salty beef ramen broth, which immediately cut the flavor of the whiskey. A fun experience! Recently dined in again at Bestside since my last review and it was just as good as last time, if not better! I've had carry out a few times here since my last review as well and the food has always been very good. This past time I came for their Sunday brunch with my parents. They open at 10am on Sundays and have a brunch menu from 10-2. Everything on the menu honestly sounded amazing! I went with the hangover sammy which was honey baked ham slices, an egg, cheddar cheese, and a garlic aioli. It was honestly amazing! It was the perfect size and I lovedddd the aioli on it. My mom had the scrambled flatbread, and my dad had the best side hot chicken sandwich. Everything looked awesome and they both really enjoyed their meal. The pricing was really great also. Service was great! But very disappointed in the new menu. Is there a new cook? or new recipes? The Hot Chicken sandwich is not the same as before, too many strong (or heavy handed) spices (but not too spicy!) The flatbread was tasteless, the pizzas we used to get were much better. The dessert puffs had too much going on; cinnamon, sugar, chocolate and caramel, too heavy handed on the cinnamon. Not in a hurry to go back :( read more

First time trying Bestside Bar & Grill and we will definitely be back. It was nice a dining area with the garage door open during some good weather. The staff all seemed very friendly and checked in to make sure drinks were full and nothing extra was needed. We started with the pizza puffs, which were fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I went with the Cuban sandwich and house made tater tots. Hands down the best Cuban sandwich i've had, and the tots were basically cheesy hash browns that were deep fried and tasted delicious!! this place used to be my favorite but since they changed menus, maybe chefs? the food is legit inedible. my daughter goes to CA frost and we have a tradition of going there after choir events etc. after years of this tradition we decided we are forced to go somewhere else because the food is so terrible. Shocked that we live close to this great restaurant however this was our 1st time getting food! We ordered take out and it was ready much sooner than expected which was nice. We had the spicy burger with tots and smokehouse burger with truffle fries. At 1st we were surprised to only have 7 tots however they are very large and filling. Both burgers had double patties that were meaty and juicy. They give you plenty of toppings on the burger and the bun was toasted. We both really enjoyed our burgers and the truffle fries were a hit. The server was rude from the start, told one guest we don't have sweet tea and later when more of our party arrived she said they did. Turns out they don't have sweet tea. We ordered nacho appetizers and they arrived with the rest of our food, didn't come early. Food took forever to come out. I asked for a lemon with my water twice, both times she said she would get it for me and I never got the lemon... treated us poorly because we are young adults, but due to that we tipped poorly. We came here on a Saturday morning (11:30AM) and it was our first visit here. Pleasantly surprised to see they had a brunch going on from 10AM to 2PM on Saturdays - fair warning, their regular menu is not available during this time. I haven't been to this building in YEARS but the update that Bestside has done is AMAZING. Bright, open, clean and welcoming. The glass garage doors make a world of difference! Love it! It was seat yourself, but all the tables were spread out pretty far. All the staff were wearing mask, minus one bartender - his buff was never pulled up, always around his neck. I was really impressed with the brunch menu! Although it was on the smaller side, everything looked/sounded amazing! They do have some al a cart items you can order for kids, however, there is no kids menu. I started with a Bloody Mary and I was pleasantly surprised with the spice level and the horseradish flavor - so good! Menu said "house made" and I never believe that when I read that statement... but I did this time! Plus, it came with a loaded skewer - so good. For our food, I ordered my kids the Waffle Monte Cristo and split that between them. They loved it and i thought it was REALLY good, too. Two waffles and a good helping of potatoes - lots of food! I got the Hot Chicken Benedict and was absolutely blown away. SO GOOD. Like, I'm craving it right now. It comes with two pieces of chicken, biscuits, a healthy helping of potatoes, and delicious hollandaise sauce over two perfectly poached eggs. I ate until I was full and had enough to bring home for the next morning. Chicken had great flavor and nice heat, not overwhelming but just enough! My sister got the Biscuits and Gravy and enjoyed it, too. She had plenty to take some home, as well. I definitely look forward to coming back here for brunch again! I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to Bestside, a suggestion by friends my family was hanging out with. We enjoyed a nice sunny day with the large bay door opened. Light crowd on a Saturday afternoon, and we had very attentive service. The nachos were the star of the show. Really spectacular and everyone loved them. I used to come here way back when it was the Hub but haven't been back since the mid 90's. When it reopened as the Bestside I kept hearing good reviews from several of my friends so we gave it a try for lunch one lazy Friday. First of all it is completely redone inside. They added a large garage style door which gives them a cool sort of indoor/outdoor space and the other side of the restaurant has more of a "sports bar" feel to it. They did a great job with it. Mark was our bartender/waiter and he was super friendly and attentive. The food was really good too. My wife had a wedge salad and I had the chicken wings. My only complaint is that they don't offer any really hot sauce for the wings, but they were cooked really well. The bottom line: great place to come grab a drink and a meal. Not in the fanciest or most hopping part of the city but worth the trip. read more

Ok, I am not an alarmist, but the COVID reviews illustrate ABJECT STUPIDITY. Going anyplace and wasting time on their 'covidness' is more of the classic woke garbage that seems to be everywhere. The West Side is generally free of this stuff which explains the 'Bestside' monicker. Ignorant non-Westside patrons have have Eastown and EGR to enjoy their obsessions. All that being said this place is a great addition to our area. Natives lamented the loss of Hub's Inn for years. Drinks are generous, food is great and in ample proportion. Chili Cheese Fries have never been "available" and their menu revolves around brisket which is frequently unavailable and mostly unpredictable. Poorly run, poorly trained staff.
