What is not to like about One World Cafe? It's an amazing place. Funky, casual, chill, with a load of vegan options! It's a food dream in Central Illinois. They have killer iced tea. Fresh brewed. Big glasses. Not sure what type it is, but it's delicious. They make magic happen with this iced tea. As a vegan I start with samosas served with mango tamarind dipping sauce. They are always tender and perfectly cooked with the right combination of filling. I never want to share but always end up sharing. After ordering their amazing falafel plate (not the salad) for a number of years I recently moved to the vegan Eggplant Lasagna with vegan cheese (just $1.49 more than regular cheese). It's amazing. I would not have guessed that it would be so darn delicious and filling. I usually cannot eat the entire thing and bring some home. It ends up being a late-night snack. There is nothing bad on their menu. Across the board it's just wonderful. Try the pizzas! Their desserts are made in-house and fantastic. Turns out Yelp is alive and kicking up in Peoria, and the app lead me straight to One World on a random trip out there. It was open until 11pm during the week and someone's mention of their supposedly awesome hummus had me craving some, so I gave this place a visit! As far as appearances go, One World is just alright. It's almost TOO well-lit inside... the lights hurt my eyes coming in from the dark of the evening. The décor is just so-so, but don't let that discourage you from trying something off of their rather extensive menu. So, what did we decide on? Quick rundown: Hummus--really just okay and not much flavor... the portion size is nice, though, and the pita bread it comes with is so soft. Like unbelievably soft. Freshly made salsa--Ohhh wow, so good. Ripe tomatoes, spices, herbs, and the perfect amount of heat. I'm a fan of salsa that's more pico de gallo than liquid form, and I wish I had that recipe to make this one at home. Portabella quesadilla--the star of the show. Loaded with tangy cheese and juicy mushrooms, I never expected it to have as much flavor, but wow. It comes with a healthy dose of sour cream, too. All that for just $24? You've got yourself a deal, One World. They do offer alcohol and also an impressive selection of coffee drinks, perfect if you need help staying awake on the drive back to St. Louis. One world cafe is highly reviewed by Yelp in Peoria and that is why I decided to stop there on my way to Iowa City. I went there for lunch but they have interesting choices for breakfast and dinner as well. The ambiance is hipster with some quirky posters and pictures on the wall. They sell some merchandise as well for fans! I went there around 1PM on Sunday and they were almost full. I ordered hot tea, which was nothing special. I had their Hungarian stuffed peppers with house salad and ranch dressing. I must say that was a delicious experience. I enjoyed the house salad and Hungarian stuffed peppers. I would have enjoyed more if it was paired with some bread but overall very nice dish. It has a unique taste which is hard to describe but a must try if you are looking for a vegetarian option. Solid 4 stars... We began frequenting this joint and take all our visitors here when in town. Start out with the hummus, and don't blame me if you act a fool and lick the plate! We usually split a sandwich and salad, and the Cuban is our favorite. It is served with thin crispy fries and a spicy sauce. Our only disappointing visit was ordering a pizza, but friends of ours enjoyed it. Many alcoholic concoctions are available and an eclectic beer selection is always present. There is a display case filled with local made desserts, though we have never had enough stomach to try them. A favorite during my college days at Bradley University. It was and still is a go-to Peoria restaurant for me and my friends whenever we are in town. My favorite entree is the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. I have tried other items, including Chicken and Waffles, Gyros Plate, The Elvis Waffle and Santa Fe Chicken Wraps. I've never had a dish I disliked. One World does get packed and service tends to be slow; however the food is worth it. Also known at One World besides the food is the drinks, especially their take on the Long Island Iced Tea. Very tasty and strong! For earlier in the day, the coffee beverages are recommended! Get the roasted veggie side - FANTASTIC . I love when carrots are cooked still firm and not mushy! I opted for the Falafel Flatbread and was very pleased. I go to school at Bradley and frequent One World because it's so close to campus. The atmosphere is eccentric because it has so many unique pieces of artwork on the walls. One of my favorite things to order is the adult Mac & cheese. It's creamy and you get to pick from 5 different add in options. Another thing that I enjoy is the peasant French toast. It comes in a banana boat ceramic bowl with plenty of powdered sugar and syrup. I recommend sharing this because it is sweet and filling. The service can be slow at times, especially when it's a large group. I came her with one of my friends and our food came out quick. Fantastic food and a great atmosphere. My wife, daughter, and I met a couple of friends here for breakfast, and the food was delicious. My wife has a dairy and gluten allergy, so sometimes, finding satisfying meals can be a challenge for her. However, One World offers multiple allergy-friendly options, so she had no problem finding something to eat. My daughter and I had biscuits and gravy that were fantastic. The portions are large, and the side of hashbrowns hit the spot. The coffee was so good that I ordered a coffee to go at the coffee bar located at the entrance to the restaurant. One of the servers didn't show up for their morning shift, so you could tell they were short-staffed. However, our server was terrific and did a great job balancing the extra tables he was given. I'm in love with this place. Driving through Peoria I wanted a place that: - was tasty - had a menu online - offered a variety of options - was open sundays and had extended lunch hours One World met all these criteria and more. We called from the car, ordered to go, swooped in and picked up the food and were off again! Once on the way to and another on the way from our destination. Both times were flawless, staff was uber friendly, and I loved the whole feel of the place. The menu is extensive enough not to run out of options either - and the soups were so good (white bean tomato, asian mushroom, etc). Our first trip I had the southwest chicken wrap and the second the falafel. Both recommended. Next time in town I'll hopefully have a chance to enjoy a sit-down meal here and one of their tantalizing-looking desserts. Clearly One World is a local favorite, as it was full with people waiting both Friday and Sunday. I bet their brunch is to die for as well... read more

There are a lot of unique food options at One World. I love their hummus and their Herbivorian sandwich. The BBQ chicken pizza can be heavy on the BBQ sauce sometimes, but it's yummy and great to share. On my latest visit our server Benjamin was very good. Be warned that at times you may have to wait for a table or things can take a bit more than an hour from start to finish, so if you are on a strict schedule it may be a problem. The decor is diverse, generally featuring artwork of local artists. They also have a great eclectic breakfast menu and bloody marys, which makes One World a great Sunday stop. There is a coffee bar so if you want to grab a Joe to go, they've got you covered. And, if you join their email list they will send you a coupon for a free dessert for your birthday. read more

I had the portobello mushroom burger with blue cheese, thousand island, greens, and a jam of sorts (strawberry?). This was the best portobello sandwich I have ever eaten. AMAZING. The pesto potato salad was my side. OMG. I couldn't stop. They also had a great variety of beers on tap. Server was super friendly as well. The desserts looked superb, but I had no space left. We ordered burgers with gyro and the other was the one with mushrooms & Swiss. Also a wonderful cinnamon bun!! Worth the calories. Also their Mac and cheese was delicious. Their coffee was one of the best we've had. 2 lattes then we ordered 2 more before we left. We ate in our car since there is a mandate of no in restaurant eating. This is a nice cute cafe near the university. The room was a little loud but expected and acceptable. The food is typical cafe fare with a bohemian twist.
