EDIT: after management saw my factual review, the manager, Barbara, decided to retaliate against me for posting about my negative experience by banning me from donating- instead of apologizing for the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the employee who was was completely out of line. It's worth noting that almost immediately after I posted my review on Google, another one appeared, portraying this guy as some kind of rock star- total fluff without any supporting details . I have been donating plasma at OctaPharma in North Lauderdale for a long time, on and off. Some staff members are friendlier than others, but that's to be expected. However, nobody has ever been as rude, disrespectful, and immature as the person I encountered yesterday. This visit was was made extremely unpleasant by a new phlebotomist, Michael. From the moment he approached me, he had an attitude. When I politely requested a different phlebotomist who knows how to handle my difficult veins, he took it personally. He accused me of interfering with his ability to do his job and when I calmly responded that there was no need to be hostile, he continued being rude, saying that as long as I kept talking, he would keep talking, and finished with telling me to "stop running my mouth." At that point, I mumbled something to myself in Russian, a language he most certainly does not speak. He took offense, immediately stopped working on another donor, turned around and went to the office window to complain to the floor supervisor. Then he continued for quite a while to complain about me in to another phlebotomist who engaged with him. I did not hear what she said, but she certainly did not tell him to stop or that it was inappropriate. He also watched me intently every time I spoke with staff after that, as if it were any of his business. The supervising phlebotomist promised to address the situation. This kind of behavior from a phlebotomist who is entrusted with putting needles into people's arms brings the place down and makes it look as trashy as his behavior. I expect a professional in a medical facility to leave personal anger issues, poor attitude, and lack of self-control at the door--and certainly not direct them at donors. read more

Worst place ever Barbara the manager can't run her staff at all that's why people leave within a week. This place is horrible staff members treat donators with zero respect this place overall smells bathrooms aren't clean. U will be there 6 hours if u want to donate no matter the time. read more

I just left from there. Got into an argument with a customer. I was speaking to somebody that worked there and he but in to a conversation that I was having with an employee. Overall, my experience at Octapharma was positive. I went to the one located in north Lauderdale. The staff is friendly and helpful. Here are the things I wish I knew before my first time donating plasma. 1. Be prepared to spend up to 4 plus hours your first time donating. I appreciate that they do a lot test and make sure you are healthy enough to donate plasma. 2. If you are a female, wear a sport bra, T-shirt and pants. No dresses or skirt. They are going to do your physical. Just dress comfortably. I wore a dress and I was uncomfortable. Don't be like me. 3. Bring a sweater or jacket. It's cold inside. 4. Drink a lot of water and eat healthy the day prior to your donation. I almost passed out my first time and I think it was because I was dehydrated. Trust me don't do it to yourself. 5. Last thing, come in the morning. Just like any other places, you never want to show up before they are closing. Usually the morning is slower. read more

I have donated at every plasma place local to me and OctaPharma is by far the best place to regular!!! This is the only place I will come to donate ever since my very 1st donation with them. First and foremost, the place is always spotless! The employees do a good job at keeping the place clean and sanitary. The bathrooms are always immaculate-I've never had a bad experience with the ladies room. Nothing worse then a filthy bathroom in a medical facility so that's a big one for me. Additionally, I love that they go above and beyond to decorate for holidays and season changes, especially in Florida where season change is often overlooked. It makes the place so welcoming! Next: the machines: they are all very well kept, clean and well maintained. I've seen some questionable machines in my donating days. Never have to worry here. Lastly and most importantly.... The staff!!! Every single staff member that works screening and the floor are just incredible. I imagine the staff that works behind the scenes are just as good though because the team work I've witnessed on the floor shows strength in working together and appears to be natural for everyone. Everyone makes you feel so comfortable and they make the time pass by so fast, making you laugh and just being entertaining overall. They get to know you on a first name basis and remember you when you come back. It's funny because some of them say they got the job because they liked the place so much... and I can see why. Coming here after work is my time to kick back and have a fun but relaxing time. I can't name all of the staff by name but I'd like to point out a couple of the staff that have been here for a bit and have personally been my donor assistant. Tyrone, he's so charismatic and funny. He's got this charming smile that can brighten anyones day. Alrick has a confidence and knowledge that will instill confidence in anyone who is new and nervous. You can immediately tell he is one of those "top of the class" type of students and the go to for those with less experience. Barbara: she has the sweetest heart! You can tell she is passionate about what she does and sincerely wants to make each donor comfortable, she expressed to me that she doesn't want anyone to feel any type discomfort because it hurts her feelings. Aneesah, she is such a bright young lady. She has the sweetest heart and is so friendly and always remembers everything you talk about. Dominique, the nurse that takes all the new donors: she is so genuine. Literally she reminds me of myself a little bit. She is friendly, honest, caring and very informative. I've heard so many wonderful things about her from the other staff as well, that she always jumps in anytime she can to help and makes her way by to check up on everyone any chance she gets. Jessica- she just does her thing. She's always laser focused and on top of everything. She's friendly and makes good conversation as well. I cannot forget to mention Leon! Leon is my buddy! He is in Paramedic school and was a fire fighter (which I was too) so we have a lot in common - we are ALWAYS catching up when I catch him in the screening booth or on the floor. That guy has a lot of ambition and is so motivated! He is also very funny and I look forward to seeing him every time I go! When he's working during my donation it's like the cherry on top. Want a good laugh? Go in and ask for the tall, dark and handsome guy named Leon!!!! There are so many other great employees that I unfortunately don't know their names- but they are all super amazing and if you want to save lives and have a relaxing hour to just chill out with some cool people- this is your spot!!! I liked everything about this place except for the length of time it took to get through the kiosk. The delays are 5 seconds or more!! I was greeted by nurse Mika and Robert who were both very welcoming, thorough and kind. Due to the fact that I have donated approximately 200 times in the past at another place, I know that my pulse will spike after getting the pre-screen prick. I requested to have that done before and they were hesitant, but they did do it. Since this is a brand new facility, the plasma machines were state-of-the-art, top notch work horses. I liked how it shows how much you have donated so you have an idea on how long it will be until it's over. At other facilities, they offer referral bonuses for those who donate and Octoplasma does not. They would greatly benefit from referrals because there weren't very many people in there. Hopefully they will also get an app like CSL does because it does enhance the donor experience, but they just recently launched that app. I like how others have daily surveys, reminders on when to go next and the extra IGive Rewards. I really liked the cleanliness, the knowledgeable staff, the flat screen TVs and brand new chairs. I really felt they went the extra mile to prevent covid with the plastic screens separating me from the pre-screener. They also had nice mason jars with hand sanitizer. This place is just way nicer than other places I've gone to. I will def be a regular donor. Thank you to Mika and Robert for the positive attitudes and to the nice lady who dropped my needle. Everything went smoothly and seemed to run efficiently. They also pay more than their competitors, so it's worth the drive!! read more

My wonderful nurses , especially Ms. Kristina, came immediately to my rescue when I had a horrible reaction towards the end of my donation (no fault of ANYONES it just happens sometimes and this was my first time) The whole staff was incredible and I am extremely grateful for them being there during my scary experience. They reacted immediately when I said I was nauseous and when I came too I was comforted and reassured of my safety and explained what had happened, My nurse even went to reassure my spouse waiting in the lobby I was fine and letting him know what had happened.
