But you don't have to notice if you get the cheaper membership with fewer gym choices. Classes are good and offer varied options, but you may have to hunt for which gym works for your time schedule as getting to one on time is a chore with our traffic. Including all the basics you may need and more, like child care optional extras for the families that need it. At this pace this is set to be a good gym for you for the next ten years easily.

This is not a meathead gym, and you will not find anyone with tripods / stripping to take mirror pictures. Pros: + New equipment + Well maintained/clean + Not busy / never waited for a station + Very personable and professional staff who care about their regulars + UV Sauna access Cons: - Lacks dumbbells at 2.5 lb intervals beyond 10 lbs. - Lacks most muscle-specific smith / cable machines (e.g. No PecDeck, Nautilus Pull-Over, Core Trainer, etc). I was given a free day pass to try the gym and I will not be enrolling in a membership because I am looking for a meathead gym. You're constantly being told "good job" and cheered on. The results we've experienced have been amazing. Going between 3-4 times a week, we've both toned up considerably and gotten a lot stronger. I lost a few inches in my waist and gained a few in my shoulders... exactly what I wanted to do. Now that we've been there this long, we can both do just about all of the exercises with no problem. Empower Fitness has everything I wasn't getting at Oak Marr: small, uncrowded classes (that you reserve a spot for); classes on holidays (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day...); workout routines that change regularly and often; and, most importantly, attentive instructors. They teach the proper form for each exercise and keep an eye on you during class, giving suggestions and encouragement. All fitness levels are welcome, and the instructors provide modifications to accommodate ability and injuries. I've been going 12x/month for a year (4-5x/week during the summer) and I am still injury-free and looking forward to every class.

The coaches at Fairfax Corner are some of the most knowledgeable and motivating trainers. They are always eager to help you improve your technique and answer any questions you may have. Shout out to DeAndre, Michelle, Bul, Denzel, Adam, Shannon and Chris! (I know there's coaches I have yet to meet but that's also because they do cardio classes and I'm not there yet. You'll definitely see me sometime soon though!) I think that's what makes Fairfax Corner stand out are the coaches and environment. The coaches take the time to explain the exercises in detail and make sure that you understand what muscles you are working and how to properly perform each movement. They push you to give it your all, but they do so in a way that is encouraging rather than intimidating. However, the facility itself was in dire need of renovation. - pool: covered outdoor pool that works as indoor pool during colder months, but the condensation is much, you can't see anything. (See pic) - it is like a maze: hard to navigate easily and it reminds you of your public school set up - group classes itself were nice, but the AC AND the fans on the ceiling don't work, so imagine how hot it gets.. like 77 on my group class day. It was so uncomfortable. - if you need tennis or other courts: this is your best bet! They have so many tennis and other sport courts. So choose this location if you like tennis, squash etc. not a good fit for those who just wanna workout in group classes or swim in comfort. $90 a month plus $100 or so for initiation fee. 3. Indoor cafe available 4. Parking is a nightmare. Such a small lot for the number of people it serves. Those who live in McLean should just walk there. Then the walk itself will your workout!
