I've seen numerous videos about this viral onigiri spot. I was lucky and when I walked up there were only five people ahead of me. I was lucky number six. I ordered a few different flavors to try. Raw Salmon Raw Tuna BBQ Eel with Mushroom Creamy Uni Tobiko Mayo Corn, Cheese and Bacon I must say these are enormous. My only complaint was that the seaweed wasn't separate like a traditional onigiri, so it was mush by the time I tried mine. There was so much filling in each one. The creamy uni and egg yolk was so flavorful. My absolute favorite was the Tobiko Mayo. It was creamy and sweet. The BBQ Eel needed a little more sauce but I did get the eel flavor I was craving. The Corn Cheese and Bacon was a different combo but good. I'll definitely come back and try some of their other options. These 6 came to $31.12

I wanted to like this but it was just a huge ball of rice with soggy seaweed and very little filling. I only ate half the rice with it. The rice was not nice good quality sushi rice or it got cold or something. The cashier and staff was all very nice, but needs a better product. The beeper for waiting for your order is a great touch for waiting customers.

Whenever we get the chance to go to Asia Pacific Mall in Markham, we have to go to Onigiri Kai Kyo Tei. It offers the best, most authentic onigiri that we've had, with an amazing selection of ingredients for the filling. Don't be afraid to try them all! Our favorites are the Tobiko, the Spicy Mayo Salmon, and the Unagi. As you can see in the image, they do sell out fairly quickly after they open. They also shut down sporadically to cook rice and prep for the next round of orders. Believe me, it's worth the wait though!

Really liked this onigiri place! It's located on the 2nd floor of Pacific Mall in the food court area. They open at 11:30am, best to get here early as they sell out throughout the day on their flavours. Staff are very friendly and they make everything fresh as you order. We got the raw spicy salmon, raw spicy tuna, creamy uni, and the spicy mayo salmon. They all tasted delicious but my favourites had to be the raw tuna and salmon. The uni tasted great but I don't think it's for everyone as the texture is a bit on the slimy side of things. Also, they don't skimp on the amount of filling so you get your money's worth!

These onigiri were massive and did not skimp on the filling. So good!! I've never seen onigiri with uni before! Totally unexpected and so so so good! Would come back to try more. It's in Pacific Mall so finding a place to sit and eat was difficult at prime lunch time--it's super busy. But it was worth it. My husband just happened to see a line and their board already had items crossed off because they were sold out, so he just got in line to see, and how fortunate because this ended up being the thing we liked best! What we got: - Creamy uni onigiri So rich. Super messy because of how creamy it is. Makes it hard to share, but maybe you won't want to share because it's so tasty?? - Ikura onigiri Also very rich and tasty. - Grilled salmon onigiri Our girls love salmon, and this was a solid choice. However they grilled it was really delicious.

Best onigiri place hands down! It was inside pacific mall in Canada. Every time we went to pacific mall we will get the onigiri. It was a small stall in food court of the mall. We tried many different flavors every things so delicious. Price very reasonable. You ordered the onigiri and they gave pager and you picked it up when ready. You can just take it to go or sit in the food court. I recommend came early. Otherwise too crowded and be hard to find a table. Neat and clean place.

This place is always busy when we come by, but its definitely worth the wait! I got the uni onigiri and I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't skimp out on the filling. It was so good, it's definitely my favourite!

Tucked away on the second floor of Pacific Mall, in the food court area. They sell onigiri's with a variety of fillings. Heard there are long wait times here since it went viral on social media, but got here shortly after opening and there was no line - yay! Went up to the counter and ordered the creamy uni and asked for a recco for another flavour. The cash recommended the premium raw spicy salmon. Got my receipt and a buzzer and decided to walk around while waiting for my food. I got it in about 8-10 minutes after ordering, which wasn't bad. The onigiris get wrapped in saran wrap, there's no branding on any of the packaging, super mom and pop style shop. Here's what I thought of my order: Creamy Uni Onigiri 3/5 - The filling to rice ratio is great. However, you don't really taste any of the uni flavour at all. It's very creamy but also has a very sweet flavour to it. Not sure how to describe the flavour accurately, but definitely does not taste like uni. It was a bit heavy with the creaminess of this sauce so I would probably pass on ordering this again in the future. Premium Raw Spicy Salmon 5/5 - This one had a really nice raw spicy salmon filling that was delicious and fresh. Would recommend getting this one and will probably come back for it. I'm curious of the other flavours they have to offer. However, I don't necessarily enjoy the soggy seaweed it comes with, since it's wrapped around the rice. It's a great snack though!

Was suddenly craving some onigiri and knew exactly where to go! After hearing everyone talk about this place, it was an easy choice. There was a decent line when I arrived. It's an order and go type of stall, where they will hand you a buzzer to alert you when your order is ready. Each onigiri is around 4-7 dollars. I opted for the eel and mushroom onigiri roll, which was surprisingly a generous portion and chockful of eel. The delicious eel sauce is so tasty with the rice as well. The only thing I wish was that they kept the seaweed and the rice separate. I really enjoy the nice crunch of the nori, but because it's also wrapped in ceramic wrap, the seaweed is always soggy. I think they would really improve their onigiri if they kept the seaweed separate. The onigiri is large and generous with the filling, but if you have a problem with soggy seaweed, you might want to go elsewhere. But still yummy nonetheless!

We were looking for a quick snack for my toddlers before having lunch and we saw so many people walking around the top level of pacific mall with onigiris in their hands. We went on the hung and was happy to have found this shop! There was a line up already but we were able to order pretty quickly - then it was about a 10 minute wait until our food was ready. We ordered the crab and mayo as well as the salmon onigiris. We would have ordered more but we wanted just a quick snack before going for our lunch reservation. The onigiris are made fresh and made by hand. The rice was very soft and flavourful and the filling was generous. We only needed to eat 1 for snack as they were quite large! Highly recommend a visit! Wish we ordered more to take home.

Onigiri KaiKyoTei is a shop that has gained much acclaim for this specialty at Pacific Mall. I recall years ago it was quiet but nowadays the demand is huge for their Japanese rice balls! Starting from $2.99, they offer popular traditional fillings ranging from spicy salmon to mentaiko (cod roe). We indulged in a few ourselves: - Creamy Uni: literally packed with the umami flavours, between gooey sea urchin & egg yolk. This one alone was worth the hype! - Unagi Mushroom: a fairly classic filling with mostly braised mushroom. Fairly large amount of rice compared to unagi. A good fill-up. This spot is so busy that its team takes afternoon break. Despite the wait, it's worth a taste for the uniqueness of the onigiri such as creamy uni!

    I can't remember what I ordered
    Mich C.

I wasn't sure what to expect. But I sure did enjoy my little onigri !!!! So much that I went back and ordered more for the road before they closed up shop. It was delicious! Service was quick! The young lady at the desk was nice. The store front is located up stairs in pacific mall, and I have t been there in ages! But I'm glad I made a last minute stop here for a bite. Definitely will come back just for this!

Top floor of pmall past the bridge on the right side. Have been wanting to try this place for long time and thanks to tiktok made me finally come. Came here right at opening to avoid lines. Tried few: Grilled salmon - packed with lot of salmon Unagi& mushroom- lot of mushroom and one tiny piece of unagi. For the price don't think this one was worth it. Mushroom was overpowering Overall, the seaweed got soggy and nothing special. It was bigger than the T&T ones but tradeoff is no crunchy seaweed. Worth a try but def not worth standing in line for! Note: if they have too many orders they'll close down for a bit to finish the orders!

Came here with some friends for the omakase special meal…read more Such a lovely overall standard omakase experience and meal. The highlight for me was probably the set of four starter appetizers, they were flavourful, delicately prepared and perfect way to start the meal. I liked the slightly pickled dish with cucumbers the best. We also had sushi prepared with fresh seafood. The rice was probably my favorite compared to other places I've been. It was perfectly seasoned rice, warm and cooked to have just the right texture, not overcooked and not undercooked. The rice held up well when picked up by hand and complemented the flavours of the fish. Finished the meal with a matcha flavored pudding flan type dessert which had deep matcha flavours. If you're a fan of matcha, you'd probably enjoy it too. All in all, the meal was enjoyable, the torched tuna sushi was probably my favorite sushi of the set and my least favorite was the egg/eel, I was expecting a sweet egg at the end so it unexpected.

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

The worst was the beef sashimi which had the gnarliest grey colour (ykno the colour when meat is leftover sitting in the fridge for way too long) and had no sear at all either. Sushi temperature was much too warm and the variety was pretty basic for the 2 person platter. Shrimp tempura was good tho - not too oily and not overcooked. The restaurant was extremely hot inside, the A/C was no where near the right temperature for how hot it's been this summer. It was also extremely noisy inside since the restaurant is relatively small - not really a place for a quiet, lowkey meal.

Compared to the Scarborough location, I'd say this one felt calmer even though it was still pretty packed. I think it's just the way the booths are spaced out and it's really well staffed. It wasn't a long wait for anything, and always easy to flag someone down if we needed to order or just needed some help. The parking here though is quite difficult compared to the Scarborough location. Theres a ton of competing restaurants and the lot isn't large enough to accomodate all of them. There's more parking in the underground space though so you can walk through the plaza if you like.
