I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Daimaru. The service was very attentive and the quality of the meat and other items were great. It definitely felt like a step up in quality compared to other ayce places. Even though there is no iPad for ordering, the servers came by quite often so we didn't really need to flag them down. Surprisingly, all of the side dishes are amazing especially the Nagoya wings!! I would go back just for the wings alone. Highly recommend this place and make sure to make a reso or come at off peak hours. I made a reservation for 5pm on a Thursday and the place was still packed. I attempted multiple times to make a reservation for the weekend but it was always completely booked, so make sure to plan ahead before visiting.

It was our first time having a meal at this restaurant. I heard so much good reviews so we had a bit high expectations! The service and foods were amazing! They hit the all spots: good quality of meat, tasty foods, proactive services, and fast service! U dont need to wait for a long time after u order ur foods! Often times AYCE restaurants serve foods slow but this location was super fast, almost instantly! And their soup base was very flavourful. The table we had was a booth with a bench seating which gave a good privacy and it had a jacket hangers in each booth! I'd definitely revisit and recommend to my friends!

I've been here 10+ times and I would say today (12-Dec-2025) has been the best service I've ever received. We had Quinnie as our server today, first time ever with her. She was SO attentive, so fast. She actually got what we asked for like cilantro and soy sauce bowl. She made great suggestions such as doubling the order since we kept asking twice. She also informed us that ice cream is one per person so we can have two others in case the kids wanted extra. This was not an extra perk to get reviews but it's for real she said. She honestly just goes the extra mile and it was lovely interacting and having her as our server. The food is really good here, best beef, the chuck is amazing! Per one adult paid, child price is only 9.99. Any extra kid would be 20.99. Great price.

Pork Bon and Tom yum. Great Tom yum.

You're telling me for $50 you can have endless, marbelled beef, amazing infinite soup (they actually restock with the real soup base) and onsen egg? On top of this favourites seafood, vegetables, noodles are on the menu as well. But even seeing that premium beef chuck and brisket is enough to go crazy. Their appetizers (Nagoya chicken wings, takoyaki, beef tataki) are great too. Their portion sizes are also very small, and they slice the meat really thin so you can a chance to try everything. Best hot pot in the city.

Went to daimaru with my friend for dinner to catch up on life. Was able to make reservations on a weekday, even though it wasn't busy yet when I arrived. Service was amazing, food came out fresh and soup bases were delicious; went well with the dipping sauces they provided. They added some new items to the menu which was a nice touch. Daimaru is still a top choice for good quality hotpot.

In the T&T plaza on the outside. There was a long waiting time even though it was early on a Sunday. Meet quality was good. The service was attentive enough. The standard Shabu restaurant.

By far one of my favorite shabu places. Super worth it to come for either the lunch deal or late night deal. Their tom yum soup is one of the best I've had. Packed with flavor! Only down side is it did get pretty salty towards the end. Meat quality was decent for the price along with the good variety of sauces. The food came out almost instantly after we ordered

This place has been on my bucketlist for so long! Came here Thursday for dinner at 6:30 and it was really busy. Also quite difficult to find parking. Soup base was expensive at $20 (Tom yum & sukiyaki) but the food was fresh and there was a good variety of cooked and raw food. I enjoyed their sauces (onsen, ponzu, and garlic soy) but my friend said the highlight for her was the sesame oil. The Hokkaido milk pudding my also my favorite! The orange gel on top was refreshing and was a nice match with the pudding! One star taken off due to the price of the soup and also the portion size...esp for veggies...seems as though if you ordered 1, 2, or 3 servings, they all seem to come out as the same and when you're in a bigger group...it's a bit annoying to have to keep ordering over and over again. Service was friendly and fast. Seating area is not too cramped. I would definitely return in the future and possibly try out their lunch happy hour menu next.

This is in the Langham Square plaza, next to T&T. Parking can be difficult despite having both above and underground parking, especially on the weekends. Ambaince - 5/5: lots of tables and it seems like a big place. There's 3 rows of tables and seats. The washroom is clean, there's 2 stalls. I don't think it's accessibility friendly. Both stalls looked small and tight. Service - 5/5: unfortunately, no reservations for dinner. However, you can sign up for the waitlist. They gave us an approximate wait time of 45 minutes. We got lucky and got called in after a short wait. The server was really nice and explained everything. Menu is viewed via a QR code but order through your server. Service is fast Food - 5/5: the food is good, we ordered different cuts of the beef (I remember sirloin and rib eye nut can't remember the rest), lamb, pork belly, chicken wings (cooked), takoyaki, squid, desserts among other dishes. They only have 3 types of dessert - icecream (vanilla pr strawberry), hokkaido milk pudding (tangerine on top) - it is a nice contrast) and creme brulée. I liked the milk pudding the most. Cost - $35.99 on weekends. Dual soup base costed $20. We got the bone brith and the spicy broth. Payments accepted (at least on the wekeend) - cash or debit. Overall: 5/5 - would come back with friends and family.

Came here with a party of 3 for AYCE hot pot on a Saturday night. Quite busy, but I really enjoyed the privacy of each booth. Food- various selections of meat cuts, loved the premium beef (yum!). Menu selection includes note worthy food items like the chicken wings, potato fries, takoyaki, and the various sauces! Honestly also really enjoyed the fish, fish tofu and plenty of options for veggies as well. To end, we got watermelon slices, tangerine milk pudding and crème brûlée. Service was a little on the slow side, it was quite busy, but it did take some time to attend to our table. The downside of this place, is the ordering system. Would have to wait for a worker to come to your table & order through them -- instead of filling out a sheet or iPad to enter items. Would be a point to improve on for more efficient service. Overall great experience. Would recommend as their beef is so flavourful! Loved their dishes, and flavours. Cash/debit only (FYI)

On a friends recommendation we made the trip to this Markham hot pot location. Lunch prices are very reasonable for a ayce - $26.95 Per person. Ingredients are pretty much what one would expect for a hot pot (though at dinner they do offer more choices at a higher price). Proteins (beef, pork, lamb) came out on chilled trays (Nice!). Our broth choice was tom yum and pork bone. Both were nicely seasoned. Service was friendly and efficient. On a side note we (seniors) had mistakenly over paid (cash) for our bill. Luckily our servers brought this to our attention. Special thanks to Annie and Kevin for spotting this. Decor was cozy and relaxed. All in all a pretty good hotpot experience for a reasonable price.

Finally got to try this hot pot restaurant as it is always packed in the Scarborough location. This new Markham location is located in Langham square on the outside of the second level. Lunch is 26.99 and you don't need to pay extra for the soup base. Lots of options for meat, veggies, noodle and appetizers. Ingredients are fresh and the quality of the meat is excellent and lot of options for sauces. Service was attentive and seating is spacious. Ventilation is on par with other hot pot restaurant and they prefer an apron to cover your clothes from the smell. We will definitely come back again. Just can't eat this everyday though as I barely can move after this meal.

Amazing time at Daimaru! It is my go to for hot pot with friends and family. They have a large variety of hot pot flavours and ingredients. Service is super quick and generous as well I love how they have a happy hour menu as well. I went for Father's Day and my parents loved it! Crème brûlée is my all time favourite!!!

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!

We called ahead since we are a party 6+. We had to try multiple times because our call was left unanswered.. Overall food was great .. until I found something shiny stuck to a shrimp in the hotpot. I was able to figure out what it was once I took it out. A flexible SHARP STEEL filament - Likely from steel wool. GROSS!!!!! And DANGEROUS!!! After I found that, it ruined my appetite and night. I became paranoid and worried about my family biting into steel. Will this result in a trip to the hospital? The server was apologetic and helped us change the broth immediately but honestly I wish there was more from management. It's not like finding a strand of hair. This is serious!!! Daimaru's lack of food safety and poor hygiene is unacceptable. I am still fuming that this happened. They are lucky I found it before any of the 7 seniors found it stuck in their throat or intestines. The nice servers had to hear our anger and frustration. Eventually after the second complaint from us did the manager finally decide to come in personally and address it. Should have addressed it the moment it happened in my opinion. If you eat here, eat at your own risk and check your food carefully. Attaching our receipt of the resolution: 10% off our entire bill. Won't be recommending to anyone.

Back again and incredible again…read more Small tip. You don't need to order on only one phone. As long as you scan the bar code, you can order from any phone. Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.
