Stopped by for lunch on a weekday. Since it's relatively new to the area, it's spacious, clean, and has plenty of seating. I ordered two plates: the Chicken Katsu and the Fire Chicken. Each plate comes with your choice of three sides: rice, macaroni salad, or steamed vegetables. The portions were generous as I had enough left over for another meal. The katsu was nice and crispy, and the fire chicken was generously coated in their signature sauce. The steamed vegetables were mostly cabbage, with only a couple pieces of broccoli. I'm not sure if that's how the side is normally served, but overall everything tasted just as good as I remembered. One thing I noticed was that the food took a while to come out, which was the same experience I had at another location. That said, the employees were incredibly friendly and happy to answer my questions. They even gave me a small plastic bag for my self-serve katsu sauce so it wouldn't leak inside my takeout bag. It was a small gesture, but I really appreciated it since spilled sauce is one of my biggest pet peeves. The beef, however, was a bit too chewy for my taste, so I probably wouldn't order that again. I also took a chicken katsu meal to go for my kiddo, and they absolutely loved it! I'm so happy that we have a location in Esco now! Previously the closest location was in Lake Elsinore, so we didn't get to eat it very often. I always get orders to go, so ordering on the app makes it easier. It also cuts down your wait time if you're not eating there anyway. My Mom's favorite is the fried fish and shrimp, so I usually get the Seafood Mix Plate. It's fried fish, fried shrimp, and bbq chicken. It's enough food for us to share, and maybe have a little left. We also swap out one of the rice for another macaroni salad. Be aware that their mac salad isn't vegetarian because it contains tuna. It also comes with steamed vegetables, usually broccoli and cabbage. I like that they have self-service katsu and teriyaki sauces that you can fill containers to use with your meal. Tried Ono Hawaiian BBQ and had a great experience overall. The drive-thru is super convenient, and there's plenty of parking and seating if you want to dine in. I used the drive-thru, great location right off the freew. I really liked how customizable the meals are, there are tons of sides and options to mix and match, which makes it easy to find something for everyone. All of the food was flavorful and made fresh. We ended up trying a lot of items to share. The Hawaiian BBQ Mix Plate was a great sampler with big portions, and the Chicken Katsu was crispy and best when paired with sauce. The Kalua Pork was smoky, and you can't go wrong with Spam Musubi, it's a must. The Loco Moco was rich and hearty, and the Teriyaki Chicken was cooked just right with great flavor. We also loved the BBQ Short Ribs and Garlic Shrimp, both full of flavor. The Macaroni Salad was creamy and perfect with all of the proteins. Thankfully, they have a self-serve sauce station with two different options because the Spam musubi itself didn't come with any sauce and was on the drier side. I also noticed that the Spam seemed a bit undercooked, which affected the overall flavor and texture. So glad we stopped here after spotting it while driving! This location opened recently, and it's a great fast food meets Hawaiian hospitality vibe. The interior is very clean and spacious. Even for a busy Saturday evening, the lines moved quickly. They have two registers and two self-order kiosks, which is super convenient. Since they cook to order, we were told the fish takes a bit longer, but our food was ready for dine-in within 15 mins not bad at all! They serve everything in to-go containers even if you eat there, which is a smart move since the value is incredible and the portions are massive. One plate can easily feed two people, but I opted for the $8 Fish Aloha Plate Special that's runs until April. I got the grilled fish and it did not disappoint! So delicious and tender over a bed of rice and spring mix. For the price and the amount of food you get, it is totally worth it. I also ordered a mini beef plate to go. While the beef was tasty, I wasn't a huge fan of the macaroni salad or the steamed veggies which was mostly cabbage. As for dessert, I got the guava pie and it tasted like a giant pop tart! My husband ordered a mini meal with Hawaiian BBQ Chicken. He didn't want the rice, macaroni salad and steamed veggies and opted to pay extra for the Spring salad mix. I ordered a mini meal with Chicken Katsu with the rice, macaroni salad and steamed veggies. His chicken was on the chewy side. Salad was fine, just need more dressing. As for mine, I do like that I can get the Katsu sauce for myself. I finished my mini meal. The katsu breading was on the bland side but I do like that it adhered to the chicken way better than the other places I've been that serves chicken katsu. The other reason for the 3 stars was because one of their order kiosks was not working properly. Instead of them closing the kiosks, they left it open so anytime others used it, it was doing the same problem especially if they were aware of the problem since the other day. I guess I should have known something that comes wrapped in cellophane would be mediocre. A shame since the idea is great but the follow-through isn't. I don't think I'll get those again. The food was really good, but definitely be careful of the sauces. Appreciate the staff individually bagging each plate lunch to catch the juices from the meats in each meal. Had to try it out and see what it brings to this area. The staff here is very welcoming and friendly. The make sure you're not lost and answer any questions you may have. The drive thru isn't open currently, there was a sign saying it would open soon. Parking lot is pretty big and has enough spots during a busy time. Inside is nice and they have restrooms for customers, and tablets you can order on if it's very busy. The seating inside is fairly nice and well lit, with a Hawaiian vibe of course. We got one beef and chicken plate and one Hawaiian BBQ mix both with no macaroni salad. The food was delicious and was cooked perfectly, the sauce they used was flavorful. The rice was simple sticky jasmine rice. Underneath the meat there were also steamed vegetables. We will definitely go again and enjoy the Hawaiian food. Trying to minimize carbs by making hard choices due to health issues. Escondido Ono's train your staff to provide the public with larger portions and not skimp out on your meat so people will be satisfied, full and return continuously. Stop being stingy with food because the consumer is paying you a good amount of money per meal. I expected to see the container bulging out to where it is almost impossible to close. It closed alright and you could hear the contents shake in the container. I asked for BBQ chicken I get a small slab and it should be two. I ask for Chicken Katsu I get 5 plus 1 baby pieces and I should at least get 8 or 9. You piled on white rice to make a diabetic nightmare and too make it look like a lot of food. I'm sure you could care less about my Yelp but you actually lost a customer. L&L even gives larger portions than you give and you should be ashamed of yourself. Decided to try Ono Hawaiian BBQ today and was disappointed. I went through the drive through and was told I could not have a drink with half diet coke and half regular coke. I had to choose one or the other. When asked why I was told it would take to long to make. I ordered the BBQ beef which was very tough with lots of gristle.
