While waiting I noticed the female employee cooking chicken on the grill, as my husband was a cook. I noticed her/cook wiping the grill with a tool that removes the residue and the cook was very attentative to the food preparation. I asked and was told that food preparation was by order-not by quantity-that's why food is so fresh and hot. The drink/condiment area was and is usually wet, but a caution wet sign was in the spot. Place is always really busy but the staff is really nice and working hard at getting orders out. If you catch some sort of coupon or deal it's a pretty decent value. I tend to stick with the katsu chicken or beef. As somebody else said the macaroni is really good. You'll be full even with the mini plate. Be prepared to wait a little bit as everything's made to order so give it 10 minutes or so if they're busy before you'll get your order. Always love this place, no matter what city we're in. This visit was quick and easy, as there was only a handful of people eating and no one waiting in line. Prices are up a bit compared to years past, but what hasn't gone up in price these days?! The storefront was clean and open, which is a nice thing to have in the city of Hemet. The service was fast and friendly, and the food tasted great, as usual. Portions were still pretty much the same size, as I've noticed some other places have slimmed down a bit. We've been eating takeout from here for the past few months and have been mostly happy about the food. We tried the Kalua Pork yesterday afternoon (June 24, 2025) and were very disappointed. There was no taste of Alaea salt and the imitation liquid smoke flavor was way over the top. We could not eat it. We also did not like the slaw. This time it had raw red onion and lima beans. I typically enjoy Ono, and with the rise of fast food prices, I opted for something "healthier". I wasn't so hungry that I needed a full size plate, so I ordered the mini bbq chicken plate. MISTAKE! The portions were not there, even for a mini. One "big" piece of chicken and a couple of small ones. Small scoop or rice and mac salad, and quite a bit of sautéed veggies which out-portioned everything else. Oh, and let's not forget the hair I found. $12 for a mini plate that used to do the trick. The food is pretty basic and does not stand out. The prices are great and you get a whole lot of food in their meals. I can never finish it all. What keeps us coming back are the employees . They have such great energy and are always so very accommodating and helpful. You really get the "Hawaiian" hospitality feel. My absolute favorite is their macaron. So yummy! read more

This place really sucks. They take forever (like, 45 minutes forever) for just like a basic plate... not to mention they don't even have actual Hawaiian food. Their kalua pork is missing alaea (Hawaiian salt), so it just tastes more like carnitas or something. And, their musubi has some weird teriyaki gravy sauce on it. Plenty of meat, you can even choose two different types and its resting on actual steamed veggies (broccoli) instead of just cabbage. Good sauce too! The rice was warm and the mac salad was great! This was my first time to order food from here, and I must say it was delicious. Everything was made fresh to order, and staff were super nice. I have never had Katsu Chicken before. So crunchy and good. But the item that really surprised me was their Macaroni Salad! I am not a fan of ANY macaroni salad but, this was so good. The pictures below are of the reheated Katsu.
