The BEST Korean food I've had in such a long time. The interior was clean and tidy, the waitress was a really sweet young girl, and the owner was gracious. Every dish we ordered was perfectly spiced and served in large portions. The Bulgogi was tender and the sauce was light. I shared a photo of the Ramyun and Bulgogi. Icing on the cake was after asking if they served ttoekbokki, the owner obliged to personally make it for us next Sunday when we return. I cannot wait to have it, as there seems to be nowhere in New Jersey that serves it. On top of the cleanliness of the restaurant, the kindness of the owners and waitress, and the delicious taste of the food, the pricing was very reasonable. So happy I found this spot tucked away in a central Jersey mini mall! Small place with only 3 tables, but was able to grab one during lunchtime. [BROWN RICE] (+$1, not the typical brown rice, stickier and harder, I will stick with regular white rice next time) and [BLACK RICE] (+$2) are available options. [GARLIC CHICKEN] - $15 - Very good flavor and nice texture with the deep fried chicken chunks. This was my favorite! [MEAT JEON] - $15 - My second favorite! MUST TRY. This is beef bulgogi pan fried with eggs. The beef is very thinly sliced so you don't get much meat but the flavor and texture make up for it. Just visited this cute establishment for dinner, felt like I was back in Hawaii! 1st let me say that I am so happy that this place opened here! Food is made to order, fresh, and packs a lot of flavor! We ordered Korean dumplings for an app. They were nice and crispy on the outside. Soft, tender, and juicy on the inside. They were pretty big dumplings too, but we weren't complaining! The sauce had a kick to it also, it complimented the savory filling. As entrees - we ordered the kalbi and the chicken Katsu ramyun. Kalbi - came with 4 sides (Bon chon) and white rice. We love kalbi (who doesn't?!!) and the one here was heaven. It had the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. The meat was juicy and tender. Katsu Ramyun - the chicken tastes great, breading not too heavy. But the soup!!!... omg it hit the spot! The broth was clear, and very well balanced! To top it all off Teresa (the hostess with the mostess) greeted us with open arms like we were ohana!!!... I suggest everyone to get out their comfort zone and try this little gem. I was so excited to find out this place was opening! It's right across the street from my office building on Matawan Road. I ordered the Lunch Box Beef Bulgogi and loved it! I am obsessed with Hawaiian macaroni salad (it usually comes with the Entrees) but asked they sub out anything from the lunch box so I could try some. The dumplings (mandoo) were crispy and flavorful. I also got a strawberry bubble tea. It's the powdered flavor kind (pretty standard) but the way it was made with the ice made it a slushy texture - perfect for a 55 degree day! I've been meaning to try this place for quite some, and having lived in Korea for 15 years, it was great to finally find a place that reminded me of home cooking. We were greeted by Teresa, a lovely young friendly hostess, who come to find out is a power lifter!! Amazing!! We chatted about her hobby , man this lady is strong!!. Back to the food, my wife and I shared two plates , the spicy pork and garlic chicken,..soooo good. The sides, on point. Loved the Kim chi , japche noodles , sprouts ...all good and all made fresh. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu ...although it's going to be hard not to get the spicy pork again. Wings were solid and the green tea ice cream sealed the deal. My husband and I tried Ono Korean Barbeque for dinner recently and loved it! The restaurant sits in a shopping strip not too far from the Garden State Parkway Matawan Exit. It is a cute, functional and very clean place! We approached the counter to order but were guided by the very friendly server/proprietor Teresa to sit at any of the tables for service; although the place got crowded for dinner, Teresa was able to attend timely with a smile on her face and answer all the questions we posed. We started with Calamari and Korean Chicken Wings as appetizers; the first choice was slightly different to what we are used to but good nerveless. The wings were amazing!!! I could of have made this dish my meal, they were sooo good!! We decided to order one entrée at the time and were glad we did; one order was sufficient! We tried the Hawaiian Style Poke Bowl with Tuna! Oh my! What a delight! The combination of fresh vegetables and tuna over rice was perfect! Thank god we finally got a good Korean joint in the area. I went in for the first time today for take out. I ordered the Pork and Kimchi Dumplings (Mandoo), Shrimp Tempura, Bibimbap with Bulgogi and a Mango Bubble Tea. Normally, i would like to eat at the store to really get the best representation of the food but if the take out is any indication of eating in house, i have no worries. Food was delicious and so fresh. Everything is made with love. Teresa was extremely nice and eager to walk you through the menu for those that are new to Korean cuisine. My only real disappointment is that the Bibimbap is not served in the traditional stone pots. While a bummer, it was explained to me that the location doesn't have the proper ventilation to do it. Still doesn't take away on how good everything is. I plan on going back with friends tomorrow. So excited we have a great Korean restaurant so close to home. Ono is a good spot for takeout during these tough times and have always had the food ready upon estimated pickup times. I highly recommend the bbq meals, we've tried the bbq chicken, pork (regular and spicy) bulgogi, Kalbi and Bibimbap. All of those items have tons of flavor and I would order any of them again. On the flip side, I would not recommend the Korean Noodle dishes (equivalent to Japanese ramen). I have high standards when it comes to ramen and I found the soup base to be lacking flavor and just not worth it especially when the bbq meat dishes are far superior. That being said, still gave the place 5 stars and will be going back soon. read more

This place is new and in more like industrial/techno atmosphere... minimalist style, with open kitchen with plexiglass all across the ordering, cooking and condiment station .. I ordered from the wall menu which resembled Chipotle, pick your protein, rice and etc, the favorite item, Bulgogi beef bowl for lunch and the popular chicken wings.. Their cooking style is more like fusion with Tex-Mex, Korean goodies in a tortilla if wish.. I prefer mine having a all true Asian dish, no tortillas, thanks.. Love my bulgogi beef bowl, but didn't like the wings and have forgotten that Korean style wings tended to be all fried with batter... I prefer mine grilled with spice rub and sauce, no batter then fried.. I'll be back again soon for more spicer bowl, perhaps the prime rib bowl.. am hailing from Neptune and this place was worth my time driving just for the lunch... read more

Mediocre at best. I love Korean food... this is barely an Americanized Korean that is over salted and uses generic brown sauce kind of place. I got the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. It wasn't spicy unless you consider too much salt spicy. The Banchan was just dumped together and was as mediocre as the plate. Everything served in a plastic clamshell even when you eat in. I'd been living in the neighborhood for over a year before I finally tried Ono and I regret waiting so long! My friends come all the way from Ocean county for Ono which says a lot! I've only dined in there once, and our server was super sweet! They didn't rush my friends and I out despite being there for hours (when you're catching up with friends, you lose track of time...) and even brought us a dish of the Mochi ice cream. Their ramyun is fantastic. They've been my go-to once a week during the COVID-19 pandemic. I always get the beef bulgogi lunch box which comes with a large serving of beef, glass noodles, edamame, fried dumplings, soup, rice, and a salad... all for $15! It is A LOT of food for the money. Their bubble tea is also great. The owners are always working and always friendly. Parking is plentiful and the location makes it a great spot to enjoy a meal with some friends even if they're not local. read more

Just stopped by last night to come check the place out. I knew they had just opened recently and considering it was on my way home, I had figured why not give it a shot. Boy was I surprised! First of all, Teresa was super polite and was super helpful with going through some of the specials and the side choices you could get with the entree! I ordered Kalbi, Meat Jeon, and Garlic Chicken. Considering I've gone to places in neighboring towns (KPot, Hanok, Bulbap Grill, Picnic Garden, etc.), Ono puts themselves right up there! The kalbi was very juicy and the flavor was right on point! The garlic chicken had a flavoring as well that wasn't too strong, and the bulgogi inside the meat jeon was cooked well! I must say I was glad they beat my expectations, and you can best expect me back shortly! On a side note, I ordered their Taro bubble tea. I've tasted some that naturally come too sweet, but this one was balanced. Couldn't have been more happier. Well done guys! To be the only Korean restaurant in the Old Bridge/Cliffwood/Matawan area, it definitely has made its mark. Best of luck to a successful restaurant! Picked up a dinner take out order the other day and loved it! We ordered the spicy pork bulgogi and the beef bulgogi entrees for dinner. The meats were very well marinated and tasty. Each entree comes with four banchon sides (kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts, japchae, mac salad, etc). I felt the price was fair but a little on the steep side -- on one hand it is Korean marinated meat, but on the other hand it's more a fast dining experience. My wife and I tried Ono Korean BBQ for dinner last night, and we had a wonderful experience with great food. The server Teresa was friendly and knew the food very well; she explained a few different dishes to us that we were unsure of and helped us make our tasty choices. She explained to us that everything is made to order, so sometimes things and take a little longer, but we found that the wait time was 100% reasonable. The fried chicken wings were super crunchy, even with the sweet/spicy sauce on them. The menu warns that they take around 20 minutes to cook, so we put the order in right away as we chose our entrees, but they were worth the wait. My wife had a bulgogi ramyun soup and I had the spicy pork bulgogi over rice. We both loved our food. My pork wasn't super spicy, but a nice extra kick to it that brought some nice heat. I also liked how most of the entrees come with your choice of four small sides. I went with sautéed spinach, japchae, pickled radish, and Mac salad. All were fresh and very flavorful. This review is based on 4 visits to Ono, all for dine in lunch. Ono is probably my favorite 'new' restaurant in the area. It's a family owned place, and the folks who run it are super nice and personable. The food that I have tried has all been excellent. The spicy pork bulgogi is my go-to, perfect balance of sweet, salt, and spice, and grilled just right every time. The pork tonkatsu is crisp and juicy, and comes with a nice dipping sauce. Both the pork/kimchi and beef mandoo are excellent. I have tried most of the banchan options, all of them good. The two standouts for me are the fish cakes and the traditional kimchi. Regarding the price...while it isn't cheap, in my opinion I have gotten my money's worth every single time I've eaten here, no question. It isn't cheap, but that's not what I'm looking for. I would definitely call it fairly priced for what I have eaten. read more

I work in the area and I am bored of the same old same old. Ono Korean Barbeque popped up on Yelp & after reading reviews I ordered online the BBQ Chicken Lunch Box. I was more than satisfied with this meal! The chicken was so tender and everything had a great taste. I added the gochujang sauce on the side and it really added an excellent taste to the food.
