The facility is a little hidden, but once you find it, it's surprisingly large and unique. When we visited, they were hosting an event with music and food, which made the experience even more fun. One thing I really appreciated is that there's no time limit once you pay, so you can climb at your own pace. They provide climbing shoes if you don't have your own. The shoes fit very snug, so I'd recommend sizing up if possible. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Before climbing the taller walls, they explained how to use the automatic rope including how to properly clip in and unclip. There are also climbing areas where you don't need to be attached to a rope because the floors are covered with large padded cushions, making falls much softer and less intimidating. Another highlight was the two emotional support dogs that wander around the establishment. They were adorable, friendly, and definitely added to the welcoming atmosphere. My kids and I had such a great time rock climbing. Honestly, we never thought this would be something we'd want to continue doing, but after this experience, we're already talking about becoming members. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back with family and friends!

I had a very disappointing experience at Red Rock Climbing Center. My family and I visited Tuesday…read morenight for the first time to celebrate my brother's birthday, and what should have been a fun outing quickly turned uncomfortable. I was at the front desk filling out waivers on my phone in one hand and holding my 1-year-old daughter in the other. A staff member approached us in a very rude and condescending manner about my 7-year-old "running under people," saying he made someone feel "infuriated." While I understand safety is important, this was his first visit and he was simply excited and once he saw the bouncy floors he automatically assumed it was like a trampoline park. Keep in mind we had to stay put for shoe fittings and harness's for my three boys while having my hands full. The issue wasn't being informed--it was how it was handled. The same staff member then told my mother, "this is not a daycare where you can just drop your kids off," which was completely unnecessary and inappropriate. At the time, I had briefly stepped out to my car to change my baby, and my children ages (7, 10, 15) were being supervised by their grandmother and aunt. Because of this interaction, I felt so uncomfortable that I stayed in my car for the remainder of the visit. We paid $75 for an experience we didn't even get to fully enjoy. We will not be returning and we do not recommend this place. Going by other negative reviews I am not the only one who had a bad experience with the same individual.

They do have some top ropes set up, but they were pretty far from the wall so you are probably just better off doing auto belay. The rope section is darker than the bouldering sections. I am colorblind and had a difficult time differentiating the color holds on the wall. Bouldering sections were a bit easier to tell apart. Overall, happy with my climbing experience here and may check it out next time I'm in the area.

I was finally able to return last November, and Donna at Mountain Skills made it incredibly easy to coordinate my trip. My guide, Thomas, was incredibly open to providing the kind of climbing experience I wanted and made thoughtful suggestions based on my skill level and experience. Thomas does it all, from sport climbing to multi-pitch and multi-day classes, self-rescue clinics-- seriously, climbers of all levels can learn something from him! I would highly recommend climbing with Thomas, as he is knowledgeable, professional, and enjoyable to be around. He truly has a passion for teaching, and teaches in an engaging and memorable way. He even emailed me more climbing material to read and practice afterward! Thomas is also a great person. He took the time to (safely) snap some pictures of me working on a project and even stayed out late that day to give a rescue belay to a climber (not with a guide!) who dropped their rope while at the top of a wall. The entire experience, which I expected to be great, exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Thomas and Mountain Skills! Can't wait to come back to do some multi-pitch!
