We visited Onyx twice during our recent vacation. Once for dinner, and once for drinks. There's patio seating, so this is a great place to watch the sunset. The drinks and service were outstanding. Thanks Shayna and Anna! Both nights my partner just said what alcohol he likes and the vibe he was going for (e.g., a refreshing gin drink,) and asked if the bartender could make a drink based on that. The drinks were spot on. The food is good if you're looking for a light meal option. The downstairs restaurant, Proof, is better if you're looking for larger portions/more value. read more

The views are fantastic while watching the sunset. This bar is a nice chill spot for an after work cocktail and small plates for an appetizer. There is limited seating with the fire pits but you should not have trouble securing a spot most nice. Amanda is the manager and she's very attentive to all that come to the Onyx. A little warning about the four seasons tea. I assumed it would be like going to the Phoenician! They have been advertising a lot on social media and a friend of mine booked a birthday tea. It was very different with a creative, colorful Southwest flare. But it was not a good tea. You're all dressed up for a formal tea and they stick you outside on the patio. That would be fine if you knew you were going into that. But the worst part was the food was all very, very dry. They brought the food out, plopped it down savory and sweet at the same time. THEN we had to ask to get our tea. The tea selection was a very nice selection. It is served very very casual. Totally not what is expected with tea service. But I can't get over the dry dry dry food with a big price tag and mandatory set gratuity. There were only four of us! Expected "nice" from the Four Seasons. This felt like a worn out old hotel property. Such a shame because the view is very pretty. I do not do a lot of yelp reviews but this needs to be called out! read more

The ambience is great, but I'm still weirded out by the waiter tasting my drink right in front of me. I ordered the frose and it sat at the end of the bar while the bartender made my husband's drink. The waiter looked bored, grabbed a straw dipped it in to my drink and tasted it. I had already thought that my glass was not very full for the price so this only added insult to injury ha ha. If it was a bartender testing it, I could sort of get that although this is a pre-made froze so I'm sure it's the same every time. read more

I visited Onyx Bar a few times over my vacation. It's a quiet bar with a gorgeous view of Pinnacle Peak. There is a tv for news and sports fans.The staff is very attentive and work hard to ensure that your needs are met. It takes a little while for food to come out of the kitchen but the drinks come arrive fast and taste great. The bartender is skilled. Covid restrictions prevent guests from sitting at the bar and tables were placed 6 feet apart. Masks were worn by every employee. read more

Wow!! The view are great here! A nice spot to watch the sunset and enjoy some cocktails. My husband loves this spot. Their staff and service is excellent. The drinks are fabulous!! We are so lucky to have Onyx in our backyard (super close to our home)......we can drive right up, valet our car, find a seat on the patio, order snacks and drinks and just relax! Always a good idea. This hotel bar has a life of it's own, beyond the resort. I've enjoyed my stay at Troon North a few times and always find myself at the bar...but not just for the drinks. This hotel watering hole is a destination for more than just hotel guests. A place to see and be seen pouring a decent drink at Four Seasons prices. But you get what you pay for. Beautiful people and views fill your eyes and the quick service, even from a packed house, will keep your glass filled. Onyx is great for a date night, pre-funk or to close the house down. We called in advance as we were a group of 14 and had Living Social coupons and wanted to let them know we were coming and OK with sitting on the patio (still warm in Carefree even in the evening this time of year). We are all locals, not visitors. They were very helpful setting up the area (getting extra chairs, etc). But they assigned us only One waitress, and when I asked about larger groups coming there often, she said she did not know as this was only her 2nd or 3rd week there. Although the food is very good, it took well over an hour to get it. Drinks were first and not as long. As we were socializing, we did not complain. Most people would have been upset at this point. Now it is time to leave, and the waitress ask's if she can give us one bill for 14 of us. and we can just split it. We had told he up front, that we were mostly couples and wanted separate bills. With a small group, we would not have minded, but there were some singles, some couples, some that ordered a bottle of wine, some that did not drink at all. So we said no. So now it took several attempts to get it right and again, WELL OVER AN HOUR to get our checks, even with the Managers help. So we arrived at 6:30 and at almost 10PM, we were just leaving. The fact that we called in advance and let them know what we wanted when we got there made the resulting issues seem even worse. I was going to leave 2 stars, but was 'overruled' by several that knew I was going to leave a review. Beautiful view, nice venue but sadly not a 4 or 5 star resort experience. read more

A nice place to catch up with a friend at the end of the week. We selected one of the tall tables near the bar and enjoyed a pitcher of sangria. Service was very attentive with both the bartender and manager stopping by frequently to see if we needed anything. For a light meal, we tried the jamón and fig, and the roasted beets flatbreads. I enjoyed the former with fig jam and blue cheese, savory and sweet flavors to accompany the jamón. If you are still hungry afterwards, make sure you make reservations for Proof or Talavera with their outdoor (and indoor) dining. read more

As of July 2019 the Brisket Burger has been changed and is now completely different. The truffle brie has been replaced with some raclette cheese that smells and tastes (I assume) like a sweaty foot. The brioche bun is so thick that the important bread-to-meat ratio is so far out of whack that you will yourself hollowing out the brioche just to be able to taste the meat, but that is only have you have removed the horrid cheese, onion, and (I believe) Fresno chili mix that ruins the entire experience. For bonus let down, the truffle aioli that was perfect with the fries has been replaced with a harissa aioli. Do yourself a favor an order something other than the Brisket Burger, because Onyx no longer occupies a slot in the list of great Phoenix burgers. read more

Was invited here to happy hour and was reluctant to make the 45 minute drive north but the view and experience was definitely worth it. Onyx is located at The Four Seasons and the resort is just beautiful. The views from Onyx are perfect and will probably be my top place to go for drinks if I ever want to impress someone with the views or make it seem like I have good taste haha. The drinks were amazing. I ordered a prickly pear margarita and it was so tasty(pretty too) and my fiancé ordered their drink of the day which was a raspberry martini. They had live music playing and when the sun set, I didn't want to leave! The scenery and ambiance is just gorgeous and calming. I believe happy hour ends at 6. Beer was $6 and cocktails were a couple dollars off. read more

We purchased a travelzoo to try a nice place with a view. We arrived and sat outside and were told that the travel zoo only cover drinks, a few appetizers, and the four items on the bar dinner menu. Of course my dismay mounted quietly and so she returned to allow us to choose from the three entrees available at there restaurant Talavera. We chose the mussel and clams, the farmers flat bread, the filet, side asparagus, and the salmon atop greens. The mussel and clams were cooked in a wonderful sauce with a chorizo. The farmers flat bread had a delicious fig sauce. The filets were large. The salad pretty but nothing extraordinary. The wait for food was very very long even off season. It took us 2 hrs to eat and it just was exhausting to engage this place. I'm not sure why they would put out a travelzoo bc I really did not enjoy my time here. It just was so unimpressive for an experience. Don't come for anything special. It was just over priced and tiresome. read more

You just can't beat the views here. AND it IS the Four Seasons. The patio is gorgeous and they often have live music on weekends. They also have a great 5 for $5 deal on Fridays for Happy Hour. The service last time was exceptionally slow and it took 25 minutes to get waited on last night so we were rather disappointed. We first were approached by a female who said she'd be right with us. Yet she never was. So then 25 minutes later we stopped a male server and asked if he could help us. He told us that he'd get our server. We told him we had been sitting for over 20 minutes and she'd never come back to us. He was gracious and did take over. It's the Four Seasons, so drinks are pricey as is the food. I recommend the salmon flatbraed. Delicious and light. We ordered the burata with pesto and bacon, but it was a bit bland. You come here for the picturesque scenery and gorgeous sunsets. We live so close by an have been coming here for over 10 years. The views from the terrace are awesome. There are some tables and comfy couches. The last time we were there, a musician was serenading us, it was so beautiful. I am not sure if the life music is only on Saturdays. The margaritas are so delicious, the make them with fresh squeezed juices. This is definitely a place to relax and enjoy the views or a sunset with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine. read more

We tried this bar n lounge due to Travelzoo deal & we are not impressed at all. Service was so slow waited for 30-40 mins for a bar food, waited for iced water maybe 10 mins u have to flag someone to ask for water for a 5 stars resorts and for the prices of the drinks n food u should not have to ask for iced water, the terrace area is so hot no ventilation what so ever, we seat there bcoz of the view. They have the deal for a reason to make people check it out but we feel that since we have the Travelzoo voucher we were treated like a low class patrons, I'm glad we did not booked our staycation here due to poor service. The food is mediocre the burger is the only one tasty. We also ordered desserts and one came up to be 3 different kind of candy, to me the waiter should at least have said something that we're getting 3 different kind of candy, at least our expectations were a real desserts not candy. Gratuity should be earn based on service not an automatic 18-20% off the bill. read more

Five stars for ambience and service. Three stars for the new menu, which is **extremely** limited. And they wouldn't let us order from the restaurant menu either. My husband and I are locals and used to go up here all the time to enjoy some appetizers and drinks. It used to feel like a real night out. But now they cut the menu to such bare options that you just can't make a dinner out of it anymore. Sorry to say we won't be returning soon. This would be good for a drink and quick bite, but can't recommend it for anything else. read more

The Onyx Bar & Lounge has some of the most breathtaking views in Phoenix making it in my humble opinion one of the best kept secrets in Phoenix. Located in the Four Seasons Resort it's a bit of a trek but if your looking for a romantic spot to share a cocktail and enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather then the drive is so worth it. They have a great cocktail menu and light bites and the live music on the weekends just takes the ambiance to another level! It's worth every penny for the pricey cocktails! Disappointed.....the scenery and service was great as expected. The servers and particularly the Manager were polite and professional. Our 2 apps were the vegetarian flatbread and the clams and mussels. They were fantastic, 5 stars for sure. The biggest issue was how sloooow the food was. We ordered at 6:10, we didn't receive our entree until 7:20. It was 25 minutes between appetizers and dinner. My wife and daughter both got the filet. The piece of meat was perfect. It however was served over this mushroom onion, and I think olive gravy that was really too much! Neither ate the sauce, I tried it too, it just didn't belong with such a beautiful filet. I had the green's salad with salmon. The salmon was well cooked, but seemingly unseasoned. It was supposed to have a green goddess dressing, but I actually think they forgot to put it on! Not enough feta, nothing interesting, basically just greens. The entrees get a 1, because 0 isn't an option. All told we were there just shy of 2 hours. We recently ate at Mina's Fishhouse at the 4 Seasons Hawaii, honestly one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Onyx was so disappointing. read more

5 star view, 2 star service...so I settled on a 3. Took them 25 mins to take our order: two virgin prickly pear margaritas. Then when it came after 20 additional minutes, I took a sip and they definitely weren't virgin! I pointed it out and she immediately realized she'd ordered them with tequila and said, "Ohhhh no! My mistake! That's a HUGE factor!" Uhh yeah, one could say it's the BIGGEST factor in a virgin cocktail. After another 15 minutes, our correct drinks came. Our server was very sweet and accommodating but man are they slow here. The moral of the story is this: if you plan on sitting down for drinks or food at Onyx, you'd be wise to clear your plans for the remainder of the evening! read more

There is just a rude vibe here. There are so many other places to go where your dollar goes a lot farther and the food tastes great. We will not return. We had an absolute amazing time at Onyx Bar and Lounge!!! We had purchased a deal on Travel Zoo that covered 4 cocktails and 2 appetizers for the amazing value of $45! To be honest, everything was so over and beyond anything we could have imagined that had we known what we were in for, we would have dined there without the travel zoo deal! Our server Ian was so knowledgable about both the cocktails and the menu items. All that he recommended was delicious!!! We enjoyed the bone marrow and tomato and burrata boards, both outstanding (and filling) and washed them down with a few fantastic tequila cocktails our server talked us in to. Nothing disappointed! Ian was so friendly and fun to chat with, very personable! He definitely knew what he was talking about when it came to the menu, and for that we thank him! The ambiance was so welcoming, which to be honest, I did not expect. I felt underdressed and out of my league pulling into the Four Seasons after being greeted by the prompt and professional valet, but once we walked in to Onyx, I knew these were just good people serving great food and Four Seasons did a wonderful job at making this a place for anyone! We finished off our night by enjoying one of their cigars (my fiancé loved it) over a cup of french pressed decaf (outstanding by the way, some of the best coffee I've had in a long time) and a couple of desserts. The salted caramel macarons and chocolate truffles. Both were unique and well balanced and full of perfect sugary goodness!!! Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time and we will absolutely return...not just to Onyx, but now we will try a night out a Talavera and Proof. If the resort bar was this good, I can only imagine what their other on property concepts are like. Try Onyx and ask for Ian and you are sure to have an unforgettable evening! read more

This is a great place to go if you want to get out of the city...wonderful desert/mountain views in a world-class resort...The Four Seasons. Our server - I believe Samara is her name - was top-notch...very knowledgeable and didn't rush us. We ordered from the Happy Hour menu, and also tried some desserts. Pros: Brisket Burger...one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The Brioche bun was as light as air, and the heirloom tomato slice was a nice surprise. Fresh-cut fries were awesome. The desserts were off the chain! Our favorites were the Crème Brule and the Salted Caramel Macaroons. Cons: There was not one chicken item on the Happy Hour menu...all beef and seafood, however they will make a chicken breast sandwich for you, if you ask. The smoked salmon flatbread was NOT GOOD AT ALL...should have returned it. I expected the flatbread itself to be homemade, and this tasted pre-formed and previously frozen...quite tough. The bits of smoked salmon and avocado were sparse, and the sprinkling of chopped red onion just didn't give it enough flavor. Expect to pay for where you are...the 9 ounce glass of pinot grigio was $17, the burger was $18, and the flatbread was $22...as I said, I should have returned the flatbread, as it was not worth $22. Overall, a wonderful place to check-out, and I'll go again. read more

However - gotta warn you - the bar menu has recently become VERY limited, and you can no longer order off the Talavera menu, unless you are physically IN that space. Food and service are always excellent, but the lack of choice in the bar means we have to find a new place as our new local spot. We live across the road, and this was such a favourite !
