The food here was amazing! I was surprised that the chicken tenders and fries were made to perfection! The drinks were amazing but most of all was the service by Austin! He went above an beyond to accommodate us and was very pleasant. We had a large group and Austin was attentive and accommodating. We kept coming back during our stay and it was due to Austin's exceptional service! Thank you and would definitely recommend this place!

This bar is awesome! The service staff work hard and are kind and thoughtful! The "passion on your Palate" is an outstanding cocktail, customized by 1 bartender to not be too sweet and then on Saturday the bartender added Tajin on the rim and I was in such heaven I had 2 in a row! The outdoor seating is lovely with sunny and shady spots and a beautiful fire pit that is toasty! Alternately you can sit inside and there are many options, not just at the bar. The bar also will serve the full restaurant menu including wine. The Daou Cabernet and the Pessimist Red are both available by the glass and absolutely delicious! Also get any of the desserts! I had the chocolate mousse cake the first night and then my last night, they ran out of that and the tres leches! So I asked for some berries in a bowl and the kitchen concocted a beautiful berries on a sponge cake with gelato and a ginger cookie that was out of this world! Thank you, Chaz, for the lovely service on Friday night! Last but not least the tomato soup and the fish dishes were great! A me to door dining companion said the salmon with the couscous was the best meal of several that she had! Last but not least, Friday and Saturday nights they have some music. I was there for the Friday night guitar player and he was wonderful, playing music from the 70s, 80s, 90s to current day. This bar was definitely a highlight of my day for the conference I was attending at the hotel.

    Cheers!

The best thing about this bar is the patio view in the evening. They light a huge fire in the fire pit, and you can see the backdrop of the golf course and palm trees behind it...beautiful. I was excited to see shishito peppers on the menu, but they didn't have that dish available during our stay. We tried the fried cheese curds, and they were fried to the point where the cheese had left the building! The shrimp and herb crostini were buttery and rich. Pretty perfect with the Hess Chardonnay. We also shared complimentary flat bread served with tart cherry jam and a tomato compote. The food was decent as was the service. It wasn't a stand-out experience, but we left feeling pretty satisfied.

A resort Happy Hour with a bit of history. Happy HourZ a-z Here is a wonderful resort bar happy hour worth visiting. First of all, you can't go wrong with just hanging out at the Scottsdale Resort. It is comfortable and relaxing. However, add to this thought of spending a nice afternoon overlooking a beautiful golf course while sipping on a nice happy hour wine, and you are in for a treat. Our favorite place is on the patio sitting around the fire pit during these fall time evenings. The food selections are very nice also. Nice presentations, nice portion size, and priced right. Add to that, appetizers are tasty to boot. As of this writing, the six Happy Hour appetizers and well cocktails are priced at $6.00 each. Wine by the glass is at $7.00. Draft beer is at $5.00. This is great pricing for a Scottsdale Resort. In addition, there is plenty of free parking or valet parking if you prefer. Here is a bit of trivia taken from a photograph on the wall outside in the hallway outside the Bar Six40. A retired Army Chaplin, Winfield Scott, purchased 640 acres of land (at $3.50 an acre) in 1888. The town was originally named Orangedale. Six years later, In 1894, the town changed its name to Scottsdale in honor of the founder, Winfield Scott. In turn, Bar Six40 commemorates those first 640 acres that were to become Scottsdale, AZ. One of our hobbies is sampling various Happy Hour locations offered in Scottsdale and Phoenix. We then add them on our Happy Hour website with information from times to menus. Check it out. Find Your Happy Place! Happy HourZ a-z.

Spent the afternoon with Alan who took great care of us. Grabbed some lunch: hubby had the chili (sooooo good) and I have been on a grilled cheese kick and this was pretty good too. Loved the bacon on it but the soup was not as tomatoey as I like, but had great flavors. I got the fruity drink first (hey, we are at a resort) but hubby ordered the Margarita and Alan made an awesome margarita!! Smooth tequila! Second round was margaritas for everyone!! Good food. Great drinks. Awesome service!

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

Plenty of seating including an enclosed patio. Bottomless drinks were replenished quickly. Food was pretty decent overall. Eric brought out a complimentary desert for my mom. CONS- There's no valet service on the weekend, parking is limited. I asked if I can bring a small cake and was told they can't hold it in the kitchen only behind the host stand. You only get one flavor of the bottomless margaritas you can't switch flavors. The bathroom stalls have frosted doors with only about 85% privacy, check out my pic for reference. We loved everything but the pomegranate guacamole needed some salt. The Açaí was liquidity. The Wagyu & eggs were good, small meat portion but it was filling after all the shared plates. FYI- you can't take any food home so eat up :) Shout out to our server Eric he was fantastic!

The corn tortilla was so small and on top was a layer of ribeye meat. Topped with pickled onion. That's all ! It came with two small tacos. Small enough to fit in a woman's palm. Crazy. I will still return but I not likely to go out of my way.

We came to celebrate a birthday following a difficult family tragedy and were hoping for a memorable evening. While there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation or price point. The truffle baked potato was outstanding, and the Love Pillow pasta was absolutely delicious. However, the steaks were a different story. The ribeye was chewy and not cooked particularly well, and the Wagyu arrived overly charred and crispy on the outside, which took away from what should have been a premium dining experience. What stood out even more was the service experience. Throughout the evening, we noticed managers and staff checking in with many surrounding tables, yet no one ever stopped by ours to ask how our meal was or whether everything was satisfactory. After spending nearly $1,000 for four people, that level of attentiveness should be standard regardless of what guests are wearing or who they are. Another disappointment was the overall atmosphere around the service station. Being seated nearby, it was hard not to notice staff repeatedly slamming and tapping order books and equipment against the countertops. It created a distracting environment that felt inconsistent with the upscale dining experience Maple & Ash promotes. There also seemed to be a lot of staff and management congregating in one area while guests went unchecked. As someone who has lived in Scottsdale my entire life, I left feeling that the food quality and hospitality have declined from what I remember. There are simply too many great steakhouse options in the area that consistently deliver both exceptional food and professional service. Would I return? Probably not. For this price point, I'd choose Steak 44, where I've always felt appreciated as a guest and know what level of service and quality to expect. This version reads as thoughtful and credible, which tends to carry more weight with both readers and management.
