AVOID THIS PLACE!!! DO NOT!!!! GO! I used to have great experience here, but the last 3 times were a complete bust! Yesterday was the biggest blow I have ever had getting my hair done. I went in asking for NO MORE than one inch off of hair that I have been growing out for 7 years. No more than one inch, shaggy choppy layers... I left with nearly 5 inches cut off with long basic layers. Every single time I look in the mirror I start crying. I am absolutely devastated! When I called to make the appointment I specifically said someone experienced with cutting hair... they gave me a girl, fresh out of school & being mentored. It takes me SO lo ng to grow my hair. Like she has no idea how much she traumatized me about cosmetologists. IT WAS NOT HER DECISION TO DECIDE I NEEDED MORE HAIR CUT THAN I ASKED HER TO!!! Also imagine the blow when she says "I took a little more than one inch because the dead ends" and me thinking it was literally a little more than one inch.... she placed my hair in the front after she already cut it and it was SO MANY INCHES OFF!!!!! Lindsey the "manager" cut my hair and man do I regret it. I had shoulder length hair and wanted it trimmed and touch up on the layers. I normally have a different girl do it but I didn't think I'd have a problem. She chopped so much hair off and left a pathetic bottom layer with big gaps all around. I literally have a mullet. My only option at this point is jaw length or pixie which I really don't want to do. Also I'd like to add she fried all my ends with her flat iron. I can't wear it straight, curly or in a pony tail. It looks awful any way. I'm really upset because I loved this place but now I will never come back. Girls with thick hair beware this place. Enter at your own risk. Went and got my refund but Lindsey didn't refund me my $10 tip which I feel is extremely dishonest and made me lose what little respect I had left for this place. A $10 tip on a $31 haircut is pretty good and I'm very upset about the way this was handled. The girl at the desk was also rude and just put her hands up and said "I really have nothing to do with this" honestly if you work there you should take responsibility and help resolve the situation. I was debating coming back here to the girl I LOVED but after tonight not only did I get treated like crap but they lost a return customer. read more

I went in asking for a haircut. I wanted my hair to be on top of the color of my uniform which should have been mid-neck And the hairstylist completely butchered my hair. He gave me a cut that was up to my chin and both sides are uneven and the left side of my hair looks like it just got chopped at different lengths. I had a complete meltdown in the salon once I saw this and when I pointed out that my hair was uneven, he kept saying that he couldn't see it. I've been continue to ask the other hairstylist if they saw the hair uneven and they agreed with me. But at this point I didn't want to let him touch my hair anymore. I feel completely insecure and ugly when all I wanted was to be able to wear my hair down while in uniform. While he was cutting my hair, he did not look like he knew what he was doing. From the way that I saw his technique, to the way he flat iron my hair, he just looked like he lacked confidence. The manager called me to try and fix it but there's no way of fixing hair that is already off my head. They didn't charge me but at the same time I have an devastated with the way I look. read more

So.. I had a color oops last night. I reached out to tons of salons for color correction and felt most comfortable coming into Onyx. I typically trust no one with my hair, my hair is my life! If I let someone touch my hair it's a BIG deal. Not only did Onyx get me in the same day, but they MADE SURE my hair would be fixed before they closed. Tabetha is just the sweetest, she was going to color my hair, but I couldn't make it before the end of her shift. She stayed after her shift and waited for my arrival, set me up with Kristen & Kristen did a beautiful job. Not only did she correct my color but she gave me absolutely everything I wanted in my hair. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome!! Kristen has serious talent. Not only was my service spectacular but the ladies in here are just the sweetest. We had nothing but wonderful conversations and laughs. I highly recommend Onyx to anyone in need of amazing color. I'm not sure what their other expertise is but as far as color goes, you will not be disappointed, I can promise you that! They saved my precious hair, my confidence, and my Internet personality! For Stylist-I had my hair cut by Emily and I LOVE it. It's one of the best cuts I've ever had, seriously! I called in and asked if I could come in as a walk-in. She squeezed me in and never rushed my hair cut at all. She's an awesome stylist and super friendly. The salon-I like the look of the salon, I think it's cute but I think the set up is a bit strange. The waiting area is in the back near the shampoo bowls instead of in the front-- not a big deal. I'm giving 4 stars because I think the salon needs to hire a receptionist. I'm not sure if there just wasn't one the day I went in or if there isn't one at all, but the salon seems to get pretty busy and my stylist had to stop mid haircut a couple of times to answer the phone and attend to walk-in clients. Not her fault and I totally understood, but the salon should really consider hiring a receptionist. read more

Chrissy (I think that was the name of the "stylist") was nice but I feel like she talked WAAAAAY too much with her co worker and wasn't really paying attention to what she was doing. Five stars for Casey , I walked in there 45 mins before my husband retirement for a 10 minute updo without an appointment . Casey was friendly and so accommodating she squeezed me in and did a quick updo in about 10mins . Upon checkout she attempted to charge me for a bang trim which I think was appropriate proving that I have shoulder length hair and she literally spent 10mins on my hair . Then here comes the pregnant receptionist or whomever she was " why are you charging her for a bang trim , that's an updo " , Casey explained to her that it was so quick and she literally didn't do much on my hair . The receptionist , girl behind the desk commenced to tell her to check with someone else that worked there to make sure that I should be charged for an updo since there is a charge for updos . I had to inject reiterating that it was literally 10 mins and 5 hairpins and a black rubber band . Management that was ugly ... my bill ended up being $17 for the bang trim and I tipped her $10 . This was all principle , I didn't care what the cost was because this was an important day for me so in would have paid it . However you want happy and repeated customers , that customer service was disappointing to say the least , if that's your front desk and your face you may want to reconsider . read more

Even before making the appt i had to call about five times until someone answered (within several hours). Stylist was nice a bit shy, $18 for a kids cut without a shampoo or style included, If I had known this was the case I would've taken my daughter to cookie cutters or a local salon. Then I went to try and purchase a product, it scanned but wasn't in their system. Manager wasn't there and the stylist texted the manager instead of calling her to solve the issue. Stood there for quite sometime waiting for it to be resolved with a 7 year old and toddler in tow & just decided to leave. read more

My stylist certainly did the job. I asked for a one-length blunt hair cut, maybe only 1/4" off my total length. This is probably not the most helpful review seeing how I get a very simple haircut, but there is something to be said for someone who can cut hair straight across EVENLY! My first time going to the salon. I was kind of nervous because of some reviews. As soon as I came in a lady looked at me and greeted me. She was occupied with another lady but still greeted me. I also had my daughter with me and they were extremely nice and accommodating. MEAGAN was my stylist and she is just AMAZING overall. I came in for a simple cut, wash and blow dry. Called this morning to get an eyebrow wax they said no problem they had availability at 10. I got there at 9:50 and at 10:20 I had to ask what time t was and that I couldn't stick around because I needed to pick someone up from the airport, she responded with "oh if I would have known we could have worked something out" really?? I had an appt at 10 that should have indicated I expected to be seen around that time. No one acknowledged that I was waiting so long or letting me know if anyone would ever be helping. Well I want to say first off the ladies in here were very nice and accommodating but should have left when it was admitted to me how inexperienced with perms they were but I decided to give them a chance. I am not impressed. It was definitely the first time in my perming history that I wasn't placed under the bowl hair drier while the perm rollers were in my hair doing their job but i attributed that to a new way of doing it. When the process was over with I had beautiful curls but sadly it lasted a day. Within day 3 (first wash) my hair was pretty much straight minus a slight Jesus wave on the top layer. I appreciate the effort put forth but it was definitely a waste $90 I spent (originally quoted $70). I really really really wanted to make this my "go-to" salon. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: 6 months ago the manager Lindsey gave me the worst haircut of my life, and I was mortified. The GM Alicia was really great and refunded me and offered an additional haircut free of charge in the future. Fast forward 6 months, I was finally able to trim my hair and Kristi did an AWESOME job last night doing so. She talked to me during the whole process, listened to my concerns and gave her advice on my issues. My hair has finally evened out and can grow nicely now. It's been a long road, but how Alicia and Kristi helped me, it really made up for the awful haircut. I will be returning to Kristi in the future, she was really personable as well. I highly recommend her if you would like someone to really take their time on your hair. Kristi took some pictures, so hopefully she can post some updated ones. read more

Alaina fixed my jacked up cut! She and her co-worker were so sweet. I was embarrassed by my cut previously and honestly, it dinged my self esteem. As a woman who has 30+ pounds of baby weight to lose, no time for full glam like I used to do, and a crappy, chunky and blunt hair cut, I was feeling pretty low. Alaina listened to what I wanted, took into account that I don't use product in my hair or fuss with it much in general and fixed my ugly cut. I walked out feeling great! I wish I had come here sooner because they're reasonably priced and Alaina personally was a dream to get a cut done by. I made some changes midway through the cut and she adjusted it beautifully. She also told me if I didn't like the cut or needed any adjustments she would do them for free. The salon itself needs some construction work and cosmetic fixes like paint. read more

I recently moved here and was in dyer need of a haircut. I have had the same hair stylist for 7+ years now so I was very intimidated to try a new salon. I have natural hair no dying etc., but needed my dead ends gone. I also have pretty long hair and I like it to stay that way. I read crazy reviews but decided to try this place. My experience was awesome! I told Tabitha exactly what I wanted she gave her professional advice and it worked great. My hair feels healthier and looks wonderful. I went in for a color change. I told my stylist, Laken, exactly what I wanted, and she pulled up pictures to confirm the color and said that she could do it with some highlights. I was a little nervous when she said highlights bc I HATE chunky highlights. So I pulled up a few pictures of what I did not want and she laughed and said she would neeevvverrrr do that to one of her clients. Fast forward to the big reveal... My hair was no where near the color she had promised. In fact, there was no color change at all, just chunky all over highlights! When I says chunky, I mean CHUNKS! Not even up to the scalp. When I mentioned that the color did not change, she said "oh it will be at least 4-5 appointments to get you there!" Something she should have informed me at the beginning!! Especially since one appointment was nearly $200!!! They are ignorant and do not pay attention to their customers' needs. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE!!! They do not give you what they promise or they trick you into more appointments because they are greedy!!! Poor service! Horrible attitudes! Little bit of a late review, but to be fair I just had a baby in November! So I came in at the end of September for the first time, and I loved it! My hair was cut by Elizabeth and let me say I've always been SUPER picky about trying new places but after getting out of the Navy and living on Camp Pendleton with my husband (marine), it was relatively close by and I was curious. I took a picture from the Internet and I showed it to her and she did her best to match it, being the only reason she couldn't was because my hair was very dead on the ends after a bad bleaching job I ended up having to cover up.
