This was my first visit and will be my new "home salon". Everyone was very welcoming from the start. Angie was my stylist and gave me her ideas for a style that would be flattering. I am really happy with it! A side note is how much care I felt from her just in the shampooing of my hair. Hard to describe but the gentle massaging of scalp and un-rushed nature of it was so soothing. Most women would agree it's HARD to find the perfect someone do your your hair. There are several layers to this experience. First, it's pretty intimate relationship. We prefer someone we actually like, and whose company we can enjoy. Next, a stylist who is both talented and consistent is a must. Lastly, the salon space needs to be comfortable and attractive. I found this salon after quite a journey. It ticks off all the above boxes for me. I personally enjoy Carlsbad Village, so this location is perfect.Inside, the salon ( to my taste at least) is as charming as it gets-clean, cozy and well appointed. The owners are the stylists . They could not be more charming. I don't have " easy hair" but Angie has done a great job for me. Covid has made it necessary that the salon be downsized, and I really like the intimacy of a smaller space. She and her sisters have many years of successful experience and happy customers. They remodeled after covid making the salon not just cozy but very relaxing and the perfect size. When I moved 9 hours away it wasn't even a question. WOW ! Another shutdown coming and this place doesn't give a damn about their customers ! THEY DO NOT CALL YOU BACK !! My girlfriend had an appointment to get her hair done by Marty, she had to reschedule but left a message on their answering machine to please call her back to set up a different time. She never heard back, this is now the second time my girlfriend has had to reschedule do to unfortunate situations, yet, both times this place NEVER called her back, she had to do so, and both times, like today, they find excuses as to why she didn't get a call back. This doesn't look good at all for a business to begin with, that the customer has to constantly call after leaving messages, it makes the customer, and my girlfriend is a new customer at this place, feel unwanted and uncared for. I guess my girlfriend was right the first time when she said "I shouldn't go back here" if they can't even call you back, it shows how they don't care to have you back. Today however, after she left a message last week about rescheduling and to please call her back with different date and time and NEVER heard back (again) she called the salon, only to encounter a rude lady (ANGIE ) who said that she had no idea why she hadn't received a call back ,found all kinds of excuses for it and on top of it she said that " we don't have you in our books for an appointment , while my girlfriend has a business card from her last hair cut here in front of her given by Marty her stylist with the date and time as an already booked appointment for the 17th at 12:20pm. WOW! This place needs major HELP !! How do you give a customer a business card with date, time and stylist name on it as a booked appointment, give it to the customer, and not write it down in your own "books" ? It's really too bad for Marty who is now out a client and although she might not give a damn, it's all word of mouth. Start on yelp and keep on going . It's too bad for my girlfriend as well who was looking forward to getting her hair done by Marty. They obviously don't care about their customers, actually NEW CUSTOMERS, Angie told my girlfriend they have been in business for over 25years, apparently their cliental, old clients is all they need, then, they shouldn't take new customers and just keep who they have. I can't even comprehend how an adult with a business has the guts along with a mouth, to treat a customer in this manner, literally hanging up on a customer because the customer was trying to explain and wanted to find out why she left messages twice at this salon, and twice she never received a phone call back from them. All Angie kept saying was "I don't know what happened maybe the person that listens to the phone calls didn't write down your phone number" all excuses instead of first and foremost apologize for it, that's what she should have done, apologize. She kept being defensive about it and just kept saying "we've been in business 25 years" like that's suppose to make anyone feel better? So what if you've been in business like my girlfriend told her 50 years, YOU DIDN'T RETURN MY CALL, PERIOD, and this is the second time that you find excuses as to why you didn't, but you still didn't and my girlfriend has to call you, as if YOU are paying my girlfriend to get her hair done, and not the other way around. You are doing her hair for free right? Wrong!!! Twenty five years in business and that's how they treat their customers, new customers, again, don't take any new customers if you dont' want them or need them, but don't treat them like dirt. That's wrong, unprofessional and makes you look really, really badly. HANGING UP ON A CUSTOMER IS NEVER THE RIGHT THING TO DO. YOU MUST BE DOING EXTREMELY WELL TO HAVE GUTS TO TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY AND GET AWAY WITH IT, BUT, WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND. These places are all going down the drain, most will never be able to either keep up what's happening with this COVID, or completely close down their shop, yet, this is the way these people treat their customers, like dirt. Hanging up on a new customer? Are we insane!!! What kind of people are these people. A business that could easily be gone TOMORROW!!! I don't get how some people feel that they are above others, without any understand and regard for other people's feelings. Without us, the customers, they wouldn't have lasted a day, mush less 25 years, but you know what? What comes around goes around. This was mean, unprofessional and uncalled for. I wish them luck however, they are going to need it, my girlfriend of course can find another hairdresser, will they be able to survive another 25 years, or even a year? We shall see!! The high scores you see, DON'T FORGET, and if you didn't know, I'll tell you, HALF of the staff, IF NOT ALL, no longer work at this place. It's down to TWO people now. It is soo hard to get a haircut scheduled for when I am available with my favorite lady Miss Cristina! She is awesome and even though I live about 40 minutes away I only get my haircut by her. She is just always booked! I guess I am not the only one that loves her the best. I have been getting my haircut by her for possibly 4 or 5 years now. I had the exact experience as Jim W.'s wife. I was clear that I didn't want any changes to my haircut; I was only looking to trim the dead ends. Once I saw how much Marty was cutting off, I spoke up. She said she was cutting off 1.25 inches! I had three inches cut off about 3 months prior, so I didn't expect to lose that much during our visit. She became very defensive and went on and on about how she's been doing hair for 20 years. I tried to explain that I never once criticized her technique or how long she had been doing hair; I had only expressed concern for how much she was taking off. Her response was to say she had consulted with me prior to starting. I had been sitting in her chair for 5 minutes! We had just started. What an odd response to say once you start cutting. Instead of stopping and having a conversation with me, she continued to cut away while calling ME defensive and saying, "this is what I do all day...I know what I'm doing." I expressed concern about uneven layers and she became visibly annoyed. When asked her not to cut my bangs and said I would rather cut them myself at home, she said, "You know what...you can leave" and took the cape off. Wet hair...half a haircut... The end. My daughter and I visited Entourage on our recent trip to the Carlsbad/Vista area for a Steampunk/Camping wedding. My girl (8) was in the wedding, so I thought it'd be fun to have a mom/daughter date and have some fabulous do's. My little lovely so loved Amber (I believe it was) that she asked if she could go back to the salon for everything hair. I also really enjoyed my time with Hope (again, hope I'm remembering well) and loved the hair. Crystal is wonderful and lovely as well. Thank you Crystal.
