The theme made sense and felt very outdoor baseball themed with their tables and chairs. Ordered the chicken and waffles and while the chicken itself was juicy on the inside, the breading was very burnt tasting and tasted like old oil. Inside is clean, bright but impersonal and generic. Maybe they just haven't had the time to put their stamp on it yet. The upsides - there is table service now and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I've ordered their Country Fried Steak with scrambled eggs multiple times now. Still a very good steak and sausage gravy. Either the steak breading of the sausage gravy was maybe a touch more salty than usual. The eggs were disappointing- scrambled eggs should be fluffy due to constantly stirring over low heat in a pan - and previously they always had been. This time they were a overcooked dense, dry puck, It was as if the egg mixture was poured out on the flattop, left and flipped once. Still eatable with hot sauce. Over all - they did hit a ball, but definitely no home run. It's unlikely that I'll be back.

Park of BG's Food Cartel, Smaaken Waffle Sandwiches serves up way more than chicken and waffles…read more I was nervous when my friends suggested this spot, I've had waffle sandwiches before that were too much waffle and not enough filling... or just a mess to eat. But Smaaken has the perfect balance. The waffles are thinner so that they're more like slices of bread than a thick meal of their own. The toppings are well balanced and they have gluten free and vegan options. They were open late on the night we visited and have typical breakfast options as well as sandwiches with ham and Turkey, bacon, veggies, chicken and even sweet options. It took about ten to fifteen minutes for our order to be ready but it came out hot and fresh and tasted great! Keep an eye out for their specials and don't forget that they have other items like waffle fries.

We got: - a Monte Carlo waffle ( turkey, raspberry jam, cheese, maple butter). - a Monte Cristo waffle ( ham, strawberry jam, cheese, maple butter). - a Holla waffle (super fluffy egg, cheddar, nicely cooked bacon, maple butter) It is all made to order so it is not fast but everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. The waffles are great. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas. Everyone was masked even outdoors. Parking is a little sketchy. Plan accordingly. Both espresso trucks that used to be here are apparently gone, so get your coffee before you come get your food if fancy coffee is a priority. Smaaken Waffles provided a lip smacking yummy breakfast. They have tons of choices: sweet, savory, vegetarian, vegan, meaty, fruity, and nutty. Their menu was extensive. I didn't spot the most probably delightful brie or goat cheese waffles until after we ordered. I really like brie and goat cheese. We will be back.

With our drinks, we also shared the halawa and it was fantastic. The small sized halawa was perfect for 2 people. The tea and coffee came with sugar as well which was nice, just a great experience. The cost of the meal was also fantastic for what you get. It was totally worth every penny. I recommend you check this spot out, even if you're picky like me!

We came on a Thursday morning right at opening (9am) and were able to snag a table inside for our group. The space is small inside but they do have a few outside tables too which is nice to enjoy in the summer time. Parking is standard street parking right on Broadway. We started out with Turkish coffees and Iraqi Tea. The presentation was beautiful and the complex flavors were so nice to wake our taste buds. We ordered the Beef Mix, Lamb and Eggs, Pastry #2 (hot dog, mushroom, cheese), baclava, and their special halawa to try. They were cooking right by the counter so the whole space filled with delicious aromas while we were waiting for our food. We all had full bellies between 3 adults and 2 kids and took home leftovers! You MUST get the Beef Mix! I don't even know how to describe how delicious this dish is to give it justice but it was definitely the group favorite. It came with salad and yummy boat shaped bread to scoop up all the flavorful goodness. Their house hot sauce took it to the next level. The baklava was the perfect amount of sweetness with the coffee and tea. It was our first time trying a halawa and we all loved the dense texture with a sweet taste. Hostess called the wrong 'Sarah' after waiting 50 minutes for a table, which is fine, mistakes happen, except she forgot to put us back on the waitlist which meant we had to wait even longer for a table. When we finally got seated for breakfast, we were told the kitchen was a little backed up so it would take a little longer than normal for food - we waited over an hour for our food to come, and no one came to provide us with an update until we asked for it. We stopped in for brunch around 10:00 on a Friday morning and didn't leave until almost 1:15 after waiting to be seated then waiting for our food. I will add, the Denver omelet (vegetarian with fried tofu instead of ham) was really good! We also loved the strawberry scones and chocolate chip cookies. Like I said - I would come back to grab some pastries and a coffee, but probably would not recommend this place to eat.

To be honest, when our plans to go bowling and have lunch at Big Al's today fell through because…read morethey didn't open till 3, but we still wanted to eat (and hadn't had breakfast yet at 1:30), I tried every option I could think of to not go to Bannings. When we moved to Oregon, it was under construction but we kept hearing how good it was - in fact, all the local FB pages would gush about it when a newcomer would ask about the best restaurant. And once it finally opened, we tried it, but it was kind of like Marie calendars and Shari's, but local. Ok, but not what we had expected for all the hype. So, after trying a handful of options it seemed Bannings was the only place we could still get breakfast so I begrudgingly agreed. Well, I was mistaken! I got the breakfast enchiladas and a strawberry orange mimosa. Now, the mimosa - I'll get that out of the way first. It was weird - it looked curdled. It just had mashed strawberry at the bottom and it actually was quite good. I'd do a normal mimosa in the future, but good. But the enchiladas - delicious. Like, I'll come back again and again for those. And they didn't charge me extra for the avocado, which I think is righteous because I asked for no hash browns. But not all places would do that, they'd nickel and dime even if you passed on one side for another. Additionally; my husband likes a savory breakfast and a sweet one too - so he often gets two breakfasts and though he may not eat all of both he gets that savory and sweet. Well, the omelettes come with 3 pancakes. Perfection. And, I took 3 bites of them - I usually might try 1 or not at all - they are very very good. Last - it did not break the bank. I've about ruled out breakfast out because of how crazy expensive the places that should be reasonable are. This was reasonable - PLEASE DONT CHANGE!! All in all 5 stars, will be back for breakfast; and hey - when I'm wrong I can admit I was wrong! Give them a try if you haven't!

She also had a can of Vortex and it was cold and fresh. To me, the best part was the requested tartar sauce for the french fries. I tasted a hint of tarragon and it was so good. We did not have any pie as we were full. I just feel that 18.25 and 18.95 +2.00 for black bean is too expensive. $20.95 is just too high for a taco salad. Megan was also excellent as our server.
