Second time coming to Cornell Farm Cafe, and probably the last (except to grab some pastries to go). Hostess called the wrong 'Sarah' after waiting 50 minutes for a table, which is fine, mistakes happen, except she forgot to put us back on the waitlist which meant we had to wait even longer for a table. When we finally got seated for breakfast, we were told the kitchen was a little backed up so it would take a little longer than normal for food - we waited over an hour for our food to come, and no one came to provide us with an update until we asked for it. We stopped in for brunch around 10:00 on a Friday morning and didn't leave until almost 1:15 after waiting to be seated then waiting for our food. I will add, the Denver omelet (vegetarian with fried tofu instead of ham) was really good! We also loved the strawberry scones and chocolate chip cookies. Like I said - I would come back to grab some pastries and a coffee, but probably would not recommend this place to eat. read more

Stopped by on a whim to grab food at the cafe after hearing good things, and was surprised at the long duration of wait for a table. Decided not to stay after considering, but elected to walk around and tour the establishment on my own. The cafe is in an old house that boasts lots of character. Seems like a really lovely place to have a casual brunch and catch up with a friend. I did check out the menu and it seemed to have many tasty options. I took a stroll around the nursery area and was impressed with the diversity of options. I would love to go back in the summer months and see everything in Bloom. But a very nice area to walk around where you wait for your table or after you grab a coffee to go. The indoor parts of the nursery were particularly impressive and had many lovely items that would make a special gift for a loved one. Parking was easy and the bathrooms were clean. The staff was nice, but not overly friendly. I'm hoping to go back soon in order to give it a better chance for assessing the experience. Ambiance, service and food all top notch. The views are amazing, the staff friendly. The wait times are 35-45 minutes. Just be prepared and you'll be okay. If you're in a hurry you'll be frustrated . On the spendy side but worth it. Like any busy restaurant it can be a bit noisy. A spin around the nursery is worth it. One of a kind plant and super helpful staff. The wait was about an hour for a table for 2. We ambled about the store on the property and enjoyed coffees on the cafe patio while we waited. Love that there's a to-go window on the patio that serves coffee you order inside. The drinks were great and they had a lot of options; I would love to try more! The food was good but I can't say the portion sizes justified the higher price tag. Breakfast is pretty cheap to make so I'd expect either something extravagant or large portions when being charged higher prices. I have been here a couple times for brunch now and exploring the grounds of this lovely nursery. If you want to sit and eat, I recommend the outdoor space that has warmers and is an enclosed patio. The food has been great both times I visited. You have to come early enough to try the cinnamon roll before they sell out. They also have a bakery counter that sells coffee and tea and some tasty pasties if you want to walk around and check out the gift shops and the grounds. They had the grounds decorated so cute for the fall with pumpkins and fall decor. read more

Cornell Farm Cafe is an adorable location for any gardener and plant lover to enjoy a serene brunch. We wish we had more time to have shopped around and looked at the plants. We arrived just after they opened at 0800 on a Sunday and it was already pretty busy. I can only imagine what it is like later on in the day! We were seated on the back patio but there is the option to order to-go and walk around and look at the nursery. The server was quick to take our orders but not overly friendly. We both ordered honey lattes. They serve Sleepy Monk Coffee which is one of my personal favorites. I don't tend to order sugary/sweet coffee but theirs did not have all that much flavoring in it. In the future I would be sure to order mine to be double sweet here. We also both got the Belgian waffle with a strawberry rhubarb dressing, pistachios and whipped cream. There is the option to get a half order rather than a full. I felt that the waffle was a bit overcooked/hard- otherwise the flavor mix was amazing. read more

I must go back. Farm to table. Great service. Nursery if you have a wait and need to burn time. Fresh food. You know when your waffles already come with syrup rather than the chance to pour it on yourself? That's when you know it's good. It had vanilla chantilly cream and apple flavor! Biscuits and gravy and eggs were soft and moist and made you perfectly pull without being too heavy for biscuits. And the eggs Benedict, well they said that was the best eggs Benedict they've ever had!! Speaks for itself. This is my new favorite breakfast spot. Screen Door held the title for many years but we now have a new champion. This is the epitome of farm to table. Everything we had was excellent. Our server Matt was top notch. If you are lucky, the bakery has fresh sugar cookies available. Those are my favorite. If I had to mark them down on anything it would be the parking. My wife and I went out for coffee. So this was the "medium" size hot chocolate. We paid $13 dollars/ with tip. For this. How have I not heard of this little jewel. This was a mid week trip so be aware when reading other reviews! No wait seated on patio, quaint Farm House appeal! Cafe policy is customers arriving at or after 2:30 pm may eat at an available table in the dining room, but the order will only be served as To Go, in disposable containers. No real cups, plates, or utensils. We wanted an afternoon treat in a pleasant setting. There was no flexibility in the policy for us who arrived right before 2:30. Very disappointing. Bacon Quiche was so delicious. The bacon wasn't overly oily or salty, the pastry wasn't oily and was crispy yet not too crunchy and wasn't doughy even at the base. Got a side of sausage, they were very small and salty. They're $2 each and have a peppery flavor. The Belgian waffles itself was great. Fluffy and well cooked. The lavender spread was waaaay too strong. Even a small smear of it overpowered the waffle and couldn't taste the waffle anymore. Hibiscus mango iced tea was refreshing. It's not sweetened and it doesn't taste a bit like mango but it was still a good drink. Just not a hibiscus mango drink. Service was kind of slow. There's empty tables but I think they're understaffed for the amount of diners. Atmosphere was comfy like a home and they nice flowers to look at while you wait. read more

A tasty brunch followed by a walk through the nursery is a lovely way to start your Sunday. The only complaint would be about the service. I know they were busy, but no one came back to our table after dropping the food. I would have liked a second coffee or something. Instead, we sat and waited for 30 minutes for the check after everyone was finished eating. If you're going to tell customers not to loiter more than 90 minutes, make sure that your servers are checking in with them. read more

Discovered a wholesome little hidden gem of a brunch spot located on a nursery with delightful views in West Haven. Enjoyed a beautiful sunny Oregon morning breakfast here this summer. 〰I appreciate that the menu changes with the seasons and they use local ingredients! 〰 The pastry chef bakes an assortment of goodies fresh every morning! We got a chocolate croissant to go & heated it up at home -- it was delicious, flaky, and decadent, but not too sweet. Their apple turnover was top notch as well. Service was great! We had multiple servers per table, which was nice because it was very efficient! We got there at 9a & the line to get in was popping off when we left at 945! Limited indoor seating. They also have a full espresso bar indoors, a takeout pastry counter, and outdoor seating upfront! You can even bring your furry friend to enjoy the front patio with you. There seemed to be a patio out back too, although we didn't get eyes on that. BELGIAN WAFFLE Topped with blackberries that tasted freshly picked. The Chantilly cream, more like a light whipped cream, had a lovely texture, not overly sweet. The lemon drizzle provided a nice tart balance to the sweetness of the crumble. The white chocolate crumble added an interesting texture but made the dish slightly sweeter. Let's discuss consistency: The waffle had a slightly chewy texture (not underdone), just not crispy, which might divide the hardcore waffle enthusiasts. DRANKSSS We tried a latte and a chai latte. Both were good, though the chai was a tad sugary sweet. The coffee beans were top-notch! BACON EGGS BENNEDICT Really delicious! The portion size was a bit on the smaller side, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hollandaise was creamy with a nice tang. The potatoes were decent, maybe needing a touch more seasoning, but having Chalula on hand was awesome. The thick-cut bacon was cooked well, and the arugula addition was just fine. HORRIFIC service! Waited over 15 minutes to be waited on, gave up and went and got a waitress to take our order. Ordered 2 coffees with breakfast and waited another 15+ minutes and had to chase another waitress down to get that while three small tables in this outside room where seated middle isle got their coffees and put orders in within five minutes of seating. Since it's right up the road from me I've been here a lot. Love that I see the same people behind the counter and they're always so nice. Today, my partner and I ate there for breakfast for the first time. Although it took a bit to get us served, the Tofu scramble was really tasty. The only thing I wish they had, were more vegan breakfast options. Other than that, it's always a great vibe, great coffee, and great atmosphere. read more

The food was okay, I wouldn't say the benedict's were worth the $20 as the potatoes and hollandaise had little to no flavor, and the portion size is incredibly small. The service however, was not anywhere close to okay. Our waitress had one speed, and it wasn't fast. She casually greeted us after about 10 mins. Got drinks and food right away, our drinks were delivered by someone else and she didn't check on us again until about 30 mins later when she was bringing out the food. After the food was delivered, we did not see her again until she was wanting to clear the table and drop off the check. I watched as all the tables in her section sat ungreeted, and thrown to the wolves after ordering (dramatic, I know, but can't find another saying) The place was nice, and bright, and quiet enough to hear my family- but there are very clear things that need to be worked on. I don't know if this service is the goal, but I won't be back for non remarkable food when the service was this bad. After everything was said and done, our bill after a 20% tip was over $100 and was really only worth about half that. There is much better breakfast in portland, with much better food and service and price points. read more

4.5 stars. Great food, excellent service & interesting place to visit. Hadn't been to this cafe in a long time so we visited today for Sunday Brunch. We waited 55 minutes from check-in to being seated (for a party of 2 + a high chair). In the meanwhile we roamed the plant and gift shops. It was fun browsing the Venus Fly Traps, big beautiful Fig Trees, and seeing cool items like juvenile finger lime trees. My tribe also enjoyed the pen full of chickens outside. We sat indoors near the check-in desk and it was very noisy, both visually and literally. I much preferred the heated covered patio section in the back, and will likely request that area in the future. My family's order consisted of 2 breakfast plates, a blueberry muffin, a Bloody Mary & a grapefruit mimosa. The muffin was exceptionally good, with a thick crust of cinnamon streusel. Our food was also a cut above, everything cooked properly and plated with intention. I did find the breakfast potatoes to be sparse and diced a little too small. However everything else was delish. The buttermilk biscuit stood out to me as a highlight. It was flaky and tender, with a smear of butter and a good plop of the marionberry jam, it was a little corner of paradise. All in all, a better visit than last year. Quite a unique place where you feel immersed in nature, and get fed quality food, maybe you'll even come home with a new plant. I look forward to another visit although it is inconvenient to not be able to make a reservation anymore. read more

This is our second visit to Cornell Farm Cafe for breakfast. We bring our pup and sit outside where there is a beautiful view of the hills and protection from the wind and also heating lamps for any chill days. The quiches and Benedicts are just outstanding. I can't say enough. Fluffiest quiche and the freshest eggs right from the farm with deep golden yolks. Even the sliders and sammys are exceptional. You just can't go wrong. The servers here are always friendly and don't forget to pick up some baked goods for home on your way out (especially the huge biscuits)! read more

I only wish you could give 1/2 Stars, as there is only one minor reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars. It is because neither my husband nor I liked our potatoes. They were bland and chewy. Otherwise, everything was spot on. We brought our pup, who was very well behaved. That in itself was amazing as it is not always the case. Our server gave her pats and water, so she was very happy. It was a little chilly on the day we went so we sat in the heated tent area. It was perfect.  I had the breakfast sandwich with avocado, and my husband had an omelette. As previously mentioned, both were good minus the potatoes. What impressed me the most has how generous they were with the avocado. I find that even when a place charges you more for avocado you are lucky if you get two slices. I felt like I had an entire avocado in my sandwiches. It oozed avocado. One can never have too much avocado, so I was a happy camper.  Our server was great too, I commented on how good the jam was and he gave us a little extra. Wow this place was... not good. Very cute set up but looks don't make up for poor service and just okay food. The wait was extremely long and we wouldn't mind if it was worth the wait. The drinks were really bad. That includes coffee and alcoholic drinks. The cappuccino was foam with a splash of bland coffee. The spiced hot toddy was water with a splash of bourbon and a cinnamon stick. Two of those were ordered and one was completely different than the other. The mimosa was, fine. When concern was raised about one of the drinks the server just said, "what drink? Yeah that's pretty accurate" and no solution was given. As for the food, the portions were alright. The saving grace was the bacon really. The food wasn't very "pretty" so no pictures ended up being taken. Potatoes were incredibly bland and definitely needed ketchup, but they were also over cooked. We ordered an apple turnover and it was honestly just a bunch of sugar, and I mean A LOT of sugar. Overall, we enjoyed standing outside taking in the scenery more than eating and drinking in the actual cafe. Oh and parking is horrendous. There is barely room for two cars and good luck if a truck comes through (which is quite often). I would say skip the cafe, go buy some plants but be careful where you park. read more

I really liked it the first time around when i came, but it seems like the slow (and sometimes un-attentive) service is something quite common here. it stays pretty busy throughout the day for the most part. opted for the breakfast sandwich and bacon benedict today, and shared it amongst us three with some leftover. (we arent the biggest eaters portion wise) the hollandaise sauce on the benedict pretty much tasted like butter - not that im complaining, bc who doesnt like butter? just not what we expected. the poached eggs were perfectly done, and the bacon + greens that came with it was superb! as for the breakfast sandwich, we weren't too big on. there was a choice of bacon or avocado, and sadly - we chose the wrong one. the avocados were pretty brown on the inside, so we ended up discarding about half. the tomato aioli and other insides were quite tasty though! i think that they essentially do a really great job with the whole farm to table concept, but i just believe that quality and service could be improved slightly. totally forgivable though, considering the scale of their establishment. read more

Plenty of parking and vegetarian friendly. There is a very cute gift shop and plenty of flowers and greenery around.
