I normally like to embrace my natural lashes & face in general, but for my 30th birthday, one of my besties wanted to treat me to eyelash extensions (she's so sweet, right?! Haha). I usually go to a salon in Kalihi to do my eyebrows. Lately, I haven't been satisfied with the services that they've provided on my brows so I started looking elsewhere to do my brows. I stumbled upon this place while searching nearby areas for places that does eyebrows. This place seems fairly new as I've never heard of it before. I tried to call for a reservation but couldn't get through. So I decided to text as the voicemail had offered that option for contact. I was able to get a respond within the hour and a reservation was set for the date I wanted. They can book pretty quick as my appointment was for almost 2 weeks after I called and I got the latest available time of the day especially on a weekend. I got an appointment text reminder the day I reserved and the day before my service as well as the directions to the place. I really like the text appointments as I feel it's more convenient for me especially with my daily work schedule. It's located behind the Nimitz center. The directions were clear and it brought me directly to the shop. I actually got a text an hour half early if I wanted to come in sooner which was great for my schedule that day. I loved the whole decor and atmosphere inside. I thought I just entered someone's house. It was so vibrant and clean inside with a big screen TV in the waiting room and couches for clients to do services. I sat in one of the chairs and it was so comfy! It made my eyebrow experience a lot more better. I had an eyebrow wax and eyebrow tint which I loved especially because my eyebrows are so light! This is probably the best eyebrow service I've had and I love that my eyebrows were a little thicker that how it was. It's so awesome to wake up with already done eyebrows. They say it lasts a week or two depending on the oils of your face. So I'm hoping it'll stay as long as it can hold out. Definitely found my new eyebrow service spot! Decently priced too. The first time I ever got my lashes done (don't recall where) the girl messed up on my lashes and also took around 4 hours. I found out about this place after searching on yelp for dayysss for a good lash place! Finally! First time I came here, I was a bit nervous. The girls looked mean but they really aren't! My favorite is Haninh! She does an amazing job on my eye lashes! So patient and kind. I try to see her every time I go in but she's always booked, which says something! All the other girls are amazing too. I like Susan too!!! And all so so nice! Linda kindve scared me at first because she doesn't really smile but she's really nice too! The one thing that I like is you can text for appointments and the responses are usually fast! I think I found my lash home! I look like I'm molting and my eyelids have bald spots. I try to give businesses as fair of a chance as possible, but third time is definitely not the charm. When it comes to your eyes, you should listen the first time. I've been getting my eyelashes done for almost a year now on the mainland. Since I moved back, I wanted to maintain them because I love the look. To be honest, the worst way find someone to do your eyelash extensions is by seeing who can take you the soonest. I was in a rush to get in so I wouldn't have to pay for a full set, I should have just waited, done my research and then get a full set. My first appointment, I will admit, they were incredibly accommodating. I was stuck in horrible traffic and they still agreed to see me. They matched an eyelash to the extensions that I have and they looked similar. The quality of the eyelashes themselves were lackluster and the glue burned every application. I understand 2 or 3 lashes falling out daily, but I had 5-10 after a few days. My bathroom and bedframe were littered with hard, synthetic lashes. I used to be able to go 2-3 weeks without a fill but after 3 days I had gaps and bald spots. I let all of them fall out and my natural eyelashes are maybe 1-2mm long now when they were three times as long. Now look like I don't have lashes at all. This was never an issue at my old salon so it must be something with the glue. Every time I go to get a fill, it's a different price. If a 2 week doesn't last 2 weeks, that's not on me, that's your application. I don't know why I'd be charged $20 extra because you needed to do the job you should have done two weeks ago. The salon itself is a nice set up but never skimp on quality for convenience. read more

I first heard of ooh la lash and beauty from instagram! i just loved how the lashes looked and the prices is certainly well worth it. let me walk you through my experience... - i used the number on their instagram to set an appointment (call or text) - response time was maybe 15 minutes after - confirmed my time - they sent a very detailed text back about the location of the shop (which is located in the back of the nimitz center..by hawaii pacific health and a korean church), in addition to where to find parking, information regarding cancellations, to letting you know about an extra fee if you don't cancel your appointment within 24 hours - night before appointment...you get a reminder via text - when i got there the place looked clean and organized - since it was my first time there...they let you sign a form that tells you everything you need to know about your eyelash experience, from the actual application process, to the care, to things about reactions and all that...very thorough. - a woman named haninh called me to have a seat..omg the chairs are super comfortable...like your big comfy swallow you in electric controlled la z boy chair...they provide a blanket to cover your legs....talk about comfort! - she was very helpful in helping me pick the kind of style i wanted for my lashes. i decided to go for the double full set with a not tooo drastically long, but flirty, kind of look... - the actual experience was great...i just wanted to sleep but didn't cause i was afraid i would snore. lol - haninh was fast...shes light handed too...actual process took an hour. - super happy with her work!!! - price came out to around 150.00 definitely want to come back for a fill!!!!!! I had such a horrible experience here. I've had my lashes done now and then for 10 yrs and have never had such a painful and traumatic experience. Sure the occasional lash gets glued to another one and pulls, but this was not that type of simple issue. I was in a lot of pain after having my lashes. My eyes were very swollen and also very sensitive to light, I had a headache in the front of my head, and the lashes felt like tons of needles poking into my eyelids. I did some research and found out that an eyelash extension specialist should never place the lashes on the very base of your natural lashes. They dig into the lids when this is done. Also the thickness and length were more than what most professionals recommend, causing more stress on my lashes and giving me a droopy eye look. I will say that they were nice about letting me come in to remove the lashes and completely refunded my money, so I think that's why I may be the only one to write a bad review. I hate to say anything negative, but I think others should know. Lastly, they placed a remover on the lashes to remove them and it kept seeping into my eyes and it burned so, so bad. I was yelling in pain and had to run to the sink more than once. Not only was the whole process painful and time-consuming, it was also very scary. Eyelash extensions shouldn't hurt! This is the first time I've ever been told that they can hurt and to give them time to stop hurting. read more

I discovered Linda several months ago when she first opened her own salon. She was running a 20% off her services, so I figured I'd try lash extensions again. THE BEST DECISION EVER. I was getting my refills from Linda religiously every 2.5 weeks. I tried different looks and lengths, but I always walked out happy. My eyes were never itchy or irritated. My lashes always looked full, never needed to use eyeliner. Linda is great! She's super nice and friendly, takes the time to get to know you. Tries her best to fit you into the schedule when you're due for a fill. So lemme tell you, I was trying my hardest to get an appointment for a refill a few days before my wedding, but it was hard because Linda had a trip out of town, so i settled for the weekend before my wedding. I've been coming to Ooh La Lash for a little over a year now but I don't know why it took me so long to write a review! Haninh is amazing, she does my lashes flawlessly every. single. time. I also love that she was able to help me find me my perfect style of extensions. There are so many curls, lengths and styles that can be done so it can be a journey to find exactly what style flatters your eye shape best. After telling her how I felt about the styles I've been doing, she was able to recommend different ways to fix what I did not like. Now I have the PERFECT style for me, I am literally so in love! If you want lashes done right and done beautifully, Ooh La Lash & Beauty is the place! I've seen both Haninh and Linda. Haninh seemed more social of the two but both of these ladies are masters of their craft. Every time, they are consistently meticulous and make sure your lashes look fabulous. What I love even more, is that the posh winks you walk out with LAST! I've had back to back surf sessions, have gone hiking, etc. and it holds up just fine. My first yelp review of the year. I've never had my eyebrows professionally done before so I thought I'd give it a try. I searched Yelp for a place with the best reviews and most reasonable prices and found this place. I made my appointment via text and came in. I was nervous because as women know, your eyebrows are your face. I got my eyebrows waxed and tinted and I was pleased with the service for under $40 including 20% tip. It was very quick and painless and I love the shape of my brows! I try to surf and be in the water often, so I'll see how long the tint stays on. I may update with pictures later. Very Dissapointed! I had gone to this place in referrel by a friend. Linda, had done my lashes and let me tell you. My lashes were awesome! What I didnt like however was the service. The day of my appointment, She calls me to come in earlier, as she has had an opening 2 hours prior. I then ask her since the change is sudden if I could come in the next day since im still off island. She then tells me, that there is a 30 dollar last minute charge. What I didnt understand was why I was now getting charged $30 when she called me in the first place. Im sorry if I wanted to pay $140 plus +$30 for lashes I would have stayed. HEALTH CONCERN - If you know me, you know that I've been a die hard for ooh la for 2+ years.I avidly post pics on SM, give recommendations, one time i literally yelped it and google mapped it for a stranger. Hell, even some of these reviews are my friends. My lashes were great for a while but it's gone downhill. I swore by them day and night and recommended their business to EVERYONE that asked me about my lashes & I have multiple people ask me every day, no joke. I really really did love them down to the nitty gritty & I still respect them so I won't drop any names. So lets start off with - Sometimes I would feel a lash being pulled from my follicle and I would tear or the tape they used would pull so hard on my lid & my eyes would be a little bit open and the chemicals would burn my eyes; that of course is on my behalf bc I never spoke up but I feel like lash techs should always make sure clients eyes are closed all the way so that the chemical & the smell doesn't burn them, I left with my eyes red and sore every time & sometimes my lashes would look so uneven that i looked like i had lazy eye but I still loved them and made excuses & blamed my own body, thinking my lashes are cycling and it's just looks off for this one fill but fill after fill my eyes still looked weird. I finally grew the courage to leave my beloved salon and branch out to see if maybe it's the technique she used that wasn't suiting my eyes or if it truly was my eye lashes changing shape. ****COME TO FIND OUT, the lash tech that I loved and had a legit friendship with ended up not applying my lashes on correctly & for how long? Idk, but THEY WERE GLUED ON MY EYE LID!!!!!! :'( it was clumpy and for every 1 real lash I had 2-3 double lashes stacked on that one - so turns out some of my follicles are so damaged that some lashes wont ever regrow and I now HAVE GAPS IN MY LASH LINE! (pics are also posted)This would explain why my eyes slowly started looking more and more like lazy eye BC my lashes were falling out & why sometimes I left the salon with my lashes itching my eyes and irritating it. Maybe it was my fault bc i stated i wanted really really full lashes but still I'm pretty upset about it. I just hope that they reevaluate and fix how to apply lashes without hurting their clients because they truly are great people. Only good thing about this place, I was able to get an appointment the day after I texted them. It was an emergency since the girl I always go to is sick. Their reviews looked promising despite the few bad ones here and there. I came in and was asked to sit and wait since I was a bit early. Then a girl told me to sit on the chair and didn't even introduce herself. She started the procedures and when she started removing my old lashes she burned my eye with whatever she was using and I sat up and yelled. I was not happy and honestly scared. Fast forward and hour and I see them. They're really nice and full like she described. I like them. But at no point did she tell me the pricing till I was at the front paying. I was shocked. I payed and left. Now I'm sitting at home crying because my eyes are hurting so badly. I just want to rip them off to make it stop. I've tried calling them to see if they can remove them asap. I understand they have a business to run and have customers. But I'm gonna have to now sit for 4 hours till she can remove them. I do appreciate them getting back to me asap and giving me a refund. FINALLY!!!!!! As Linda's client for several years now, I am so happy she finally has her own place! Linda was worth enduring her previous employer's horrendous customer service. I jumped all over the place when I first started doing my lashes and by chance was able to get an appointment with Linda. That was it. The quality of her hard work, the knowledge and patience she has to make each lash perfect is astounding. I am so grateful to have found her. Bottom line: The quality of Linda's work is enough to make you a repeat client but its a complete bonus to have your services performed by a genuinely nice person.
