Very disappointing experience at Salon Island Beauty. This business refused to honor the publicly advertised pricing for PMU services, which I found unprofessional and misleading. Rather than acknowledging the issue or offering a reasonable resolution, the owner, Hideko, insisted on the higher price even after I provided screenshots of the advertised pricing. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt like a bait-and-switch. What was most disappointing was not just the pricing discrepancy, but the lack of accountability and customer service when the issue was raised. read more

Located in Century Center, it's the mirrored building on corner of Kapiolani and Kalakaua at the big intersection by Convention Center. Enter and take a ticket from parking machine. Guest parking is straight ahead to the end, turn right. Or they have several stalls on other floors which they let you know when you receive confirmation on your appointment. Spa is on the ground floor in an open hallway on makai side of elevator area. Press button to be admitted. Little sitting area to wait for your technician after they pleasantly check you in. I come here to see Hideko for my eyebrows. My friend had recommended her after I admired her work, and she didn't disappoint. The previous person I used at another place retired so I was happy to find Hideko who took her time asking me questions on what I wanted, liked, didn't like, and offered good suggestions to make some changes. Relaxing to lay down and she has clean, pleasant smelling hands- don't laugh- some people do not- and has a very gentle touch so I'm never nervous. The anesthesia is applied and takes about 20 min to kick in. Hideko then explains what she's going to do- and she does this every time- no matter how many times I've been back for touch ups. I love that. The procedure took about 45 minutes for me. Loved the way it turned out and she then explained what would happen to my brows and not to worry, it was normal. She gives a little packet with pictures of what brows will look like over the next couple weeks along with some bacitracin to apply each day to prevent infections. The touch ups may be scheduled for the following year and they are very good about sending reminders for the annual. I got my brows microbladed by the owner, Hideko. While I do like how my brows turned out, the experience itself was uncomfortable enough that I had to write a review (my first negative one). I initially asked for natural looking thicker brows, but she seemed hesitant to do them thick the first time, so I asked for thicker ones during my touch up. She disagreed with what I wanted. That's fine, but the way she responded was rude and made me feel bad for asking. I also had been told the touch-up was free (the website says this too), but they tried to charge me an extra few hundred. It only got corrected after I spoke up twice (they doubled down on the price the first two times I asked , which felt sneaky). The experience was so bad I won't be going back there. read more

So happy with my brows! Hideko made them exactly how I requested: --fluffy & thick --bushy in the inner brow --Korean-straight with slight modification to cover my natural hairs --closer to my eyes than my hairline --cool toned I asked for a combination of nano blading and micro blading. I wanted them bushy and thick because I think it makes the face look younger when the brows look natural and full. She suggested some ombre powdering because my skin is thin and might not take color that well. I am so happy with the way it looks. I hope they heal well. Hideko puts numbing cream on the brow area and lets it soak in for 15 mins. I think the cream worked really well because it didn't hurt. It just feels like a light scratching sensation. The needle poking for the ombre powder is mildly uncomfortable but not painful. read more

Came here for a brazilian wax on short notice and was able to make a reservation on the same day. Note that online reservations cannot be cancelled the day of without a fee, so make sure to clear your schedule ahead of time! The store was a little hard to find, it's inside a big building. Went today for my annual touch up for my brows. I usually get microblading done but I wanted to try their new brow service, feather nano stroke. I am so happy I did! I always see Jiko for my brows. She is truly the best. She's caring, friendly, and very professional. I told her I was nervous about changing my brows, I didn't want my brows too bushy or dark. She explained everything in detail about the brow procedure and would use warm tones so it wouldn't be too dark. I absolutely love my brows. The procedure was less painful then microblading which was a plus. Also, the aftercare for my brows is so much simpler then if I did microblading. Treated my wife to a microblading eyebrows at this place located in the lobby of the Century Center. I looked up this place on Yelp and everyone gave a rating of 5 stars so I made a reservation for my wife. The only bad thing I can find is that there located in the lobby and there signage on the front door is small and pretty hard to find. Other than that they validate so that's a good thing . The artist name was Hideko my wife said she was very nice and very knowledgeable and it took about 2 hours. She the most experienced artist over there . The other artists is a lot cheaper, but I decided to pay for more experience person so it will be a little better quality I guess. Compare to a artist who had only a few customers versus Hideko who has over 15years of experience. When you book with them it includes 1 follow up touch up. Hideko said this is actually a tattoo but it only lasts approximately 1 - 2 years. I thought it will last forever. I guess I need to start saving money for follow up touch ups in the future LOL. My first visit here was on Thursday. When you enter the parking structure inform the attendant you are coming here and you will be issued a pink pass- read it carefully for your assigned stall. This pass will entitle you to park for $2- what a deal! Head towards your left and look for #113. Once you enter there is a seating area for 3-4 people. You can see 3 working stations with bright red and white aloha print covers. Behind are two more stations and a restroom. The greeting is friendly, there is music playing quietly in the background. I saw 3 ladies having lashes done in the front, one person being worked on in the left back cubicle and I went to the back right cubicle to have my brows done with Hideko. You will need to fill out a 3 page questionnaire when you arrive. You will be also given an After Care instruction sheet. My session lasted about 1-1/2 hours as there is consultation time for any medical issues, she then made marks and measurents for my brows then there was some wait time while the numbing product desensitized the brow area. I liked that Hideko was very thorough going over my history and is so very sweet,caring and meticulous checking several times during the procedure by having me sit up to check then lie back down. Today is day number three and the scabbing is more noticeable beneath the bacitracin zinc oxide that you apply twice a day. I am looking forward to my retouch session in about a month and waiting for Hideko to get back to me for my next appointment date and time at their new soon to be Kapolei location. After that I hope to have beautiful brows for my upcoming cruise to Japan and Korea. I may need to have a total of 3 sessions but that will be determined once my brows are healed. Will be going to Kapolei shop at the end of the month for brow touch up...glad there willbe a 2nd location closer to home. read more

Review is for eyebrow combination of microblading and ombré eyebrows (microshading) done by Jiko. Beginning from the top: I found the building and parking structure easy to find, but the building could use some more wayfinding. To find the salon, once you get off the elevator, go to the left side and it will behind a staircase and next door to a sandwich shop. My entire process for my first session took 3 hours. In those 3 hours we began by talking about the different options, we discussed the style, color, and everything about the eyebrows. We then talked about the procedure itself, the steps she's going to take and the aftercare needed. Once ready she took pictures of my eyebrows and she began to pencil in the outline. I think the precision could be more technical but the eyebrows looked fire and even at the end. I reviewed the outline over and over and once I was ready she put on the numbing cream and we waited for it to set. Meanwhile she showed me the clean new needles and the color she was going to use. Once the process started - OMG - I cried. I have really thin skin so the numbing cream can only numb so much. And that lasted about two hours. Afterwards she gave me some ointment and repeated the aftercare instructions. We set our 6 week follow up. Overall I am super happy with my eyebrows. I'll keep you posted :) read more

I had micro blading done with Mai Trask and could not recommend her more! First and foremost she listens to your needs. I had zero eyebrows on my left eye due to scar on my eyelid. Mai fixed my brows. They are super dark at first and become perfect after two weeks. The fee covered the cost of the first session with a retouch. I really was worried they were too dark but the paper they give you with what to expect is accurate. Everyone was nice. I had microshading on my eyebrows and by the time it healed you couldn't even tell I had it done. I followed the aftercare religiously. Went back and they did it again for no cost. Again same result. Maybe a bit better. We ended up doing powder ombré and now my eyebrows look normal enough I don't have to wear makeup but definitely don't add the definition to my face that I wanted. I'll start off with saying how stubborn my eyelashes are when it comes to me trying to get a lash lift. I've went to several places to get a lash lift but my lashes just seem to be a rare case in stubborn-ness that many others don't seem to have the same problem as me the first time I came here to get it done, it was still super stubborn and didn't stay up too long but the second time I came in, it went up so perfectly that I was super surprised. Mai did my lash lift and she did amazingly. Another thing that I always had at any other places is that around my eyes would be sticky and not fresh feeling after a lash lift but over here, it was just clean and fresh and I was delighted by that! Located on the first floor of Century Center, Salon Island Beauty is tucked away next to a sandwich shop. I've been going to Hideko for the last couple of years. She first did microblading on my eyebrows in 2016, then did the powder ombré brow technique on my eyebrows today as a re-touch. I love that she is professional and a perfectionist! She spent a lot of time with me outlining and designing the shape of my brows, to make sure I was happy with the design. She suggested that we go with medium brown and then when i touch up in a few months, that we can change the color if I want. She then put numbing cream and let it sit for a while (maybe 20-25 minutes). When she was setting up, she then showed me the needle and parts, brand new in sealed packaging. She opened them in front of me so that I knew they were new and clean. After looking at my results, I was so pleased! The shape was great. I got slightly thicker and longer brows with a more defined shape in Medium Brown. Cannot wait to see how they heal. She recommended that I may want to come back for a retouch to make sure that the shape and color remains as it will fade 30-40% from today. Go see Hideko!
