While the food is often good, today's experience was a complete letdown. The service and order accuracy were terrible. Poor communication from both the restaurant and the delivery service caused unnecessary frustration. Spending $60 for two plates and not receiving what I paid for is unacceptable. First allow me to say "ooh whee"! Everything was amazing! I was first introduced to Oooh Wee years ago at the McCormick Place during the Black Women's Expo. I have to admit that their teas are creatively amazing. They later opened a restaurant at 33 East 83rd Street in Chicago. Always crowded; lines out the door on Sundays. They also have a kiosk inside Chicago Ridge Mall that draws a crowd. I decided to visit the carry out only location at 2208 East State in Burnham, IL. Small crowd and I received my order within ten minutes. We also ordered two strawberry lemonade sweet teas. They didn't even make it home. Lol. The servers are pretty quick at taking orders and they seem to have a system that works flawless. The true star of the show are the Hennessy wings and they were everything with the perfect bite of heat. The sides were also flavorful and I love that the portions are enough for two days. For all of you Oooh Wee fans a new restaurant is opening Saturday 9/10 at 11a on 7920 South Western Avenue in Chicago. read more

I tried this restaurant before and the food was very good. Today I went and tried it again and the food was not good. I had the smothered chicken and it was dry and salty. Their website says they close at 9 and I called 45 minutes prior to them closing. Was told they are closed. I drove by the restaurant immediately after and saw customers still walking in and placing orders. read more

Horrible customer service!!!!!! The attitude alone needs to be addressed. I asked for a veggie plate ( because everything I asked for was not available) and she puts all my veggies in the same bowl. No dividers as if I want to eat my food together. My Mac and cheese turned into soups because of the juice from the green beans. I could not believe that one would be so lazy and dump your food in one container. Then their was green bean juice on the outside of bag. When I asked for a napkin she tells me we ran out of napkins. WOW when I tried some items on the menu like the jerk tacos, the wrap, Italian beef OMG, it is my place to go now when in the Joliet mall to eat. I love to patronize African American business, however, no corn bread, how the hell its 2 pm and you close at 7 pm you already out of cornbread that suppose to come with meal. You have dressing but no cranberry sauce, can someone run to Aldi and get cranberry sauceyou have baked chicken but no BBQ chickenare we out of sweet baby rays too. This is the best fast-food soul food that my family has ever had. I initially thought it was pricey, based on the way the store looked, but it was worth it. The food is better than the tea. We had pot roast, fried chicken, barbecue chicken, greens, yams, Mac-n-cheese, and mashed potatoes. We did not have to add any seasoning or hot sauce. Even though we went right before closing, the food tasted fresh. The potatoes were real potatoes with skin on them. The meats were super tender. I absolutely recommend. read more

The food was horrible at this location and I would never go back there. The jerk chicken fries were extremely black burnt and there was no cheese. I had the fried lobster which was extremely salty like can you can get hypertension with one bite smh. The Mac was very very dry. The string beans was also salty. This location is the one with jerk egg rolls. They're always out. They never answer the phone. They close 10 minutes earlier than advertised. The manager says they have to go home too as if the 10 minutes will make a difference. If it does, adjust your hours accordingly. They never have what you really want. The customer service and attitude is indeed as bad as described in previous reviews. I honestly want us to come together as a community and dead this place. They're not here to serve us anyway as the employees and manager so graciously remind us daily, so it's on us to stop patronizing them. read more

Today was our very first time buying food from there. And oooh wee let me tell you, this food was OUT-FREAKING-STANDING! The Honey BBQ Chicken Tips were amazing. The String Beans were seasoned to perfection. The Jerk Salmon oh my goodness *chef's kiss* delicious! And the Yams, man let me tell you, these yams might be competing with my mom's yams. The food was good. The customer service was not. They have a weekly menu thats different from the Sunday menu. So we ordered from the weekly menu not knowing there was pot roast available (which is what we came there for) until we had already ordered lamb chops and heard others ordering pot roast. We ask the guy making dinners about pot roast not being on the menu and he says oh you can get in line and order some pot roast.....really? THEN there are 2 tea flavors (obama & strawberry lemon or something), we ordered 3 obamas (we could only get smalls btw) and he starts to give us the strawberry flavor so we tell him thats not what we ordered, he says oh they're the same idk why they even have these labels up here and removed them....this man was so rude for no reason after we just spent $70 in there! The restaurant can have you in and out pretty quick and I typically go on Sundays after church. That's around 12:30ish and I just beat the Sunday rush. If you go later at night, especially on a weekday, they tend to give you more food-probably so they won't have to trash a lot but even on a regular day or Sunday, the food portions are very nice. Most ppl can eat twice off one plate. The string beans are phenomenal and I'm a critic. The yams are sweet potatoes and more of a dessert but it's how I cook mines so they're perfect to me but just a heads up if you don't like them super sweet or have diet restrictions. The dressing is decent and so is the Mac n cheese. I don't eat red meat or pork so I can only comment on the baked chicken- Dark, and the fried catfish is yummy. The catfish has a bit of a kick to it but nothing that'll make you rush for water and I don't eat hot food. Very well seasoned for sure. Overall, the food is properly seasoned and priced fairly with decent portion sizes. I would've gave 5 stars but sometimes the young ladies behind the counter working the food area can be rude and attitude-ish. Ms Lady behind the register is always polite even when it's a line down the parking lot. Wish I knew her name so I could give her some kudos It's worth a try. The food is consistent for the most part. The white meat chicken, it's a no for me. I could be biased though because white meat is just plain dry to me so proceed with caution. The later you go, the higher the chances of your favorite dish being sold out. It's legit soul food so when it's gone, it's gone for easily 1.5-2hrs but depending on how close to closing, it's just sold out for the day. Real, reusable containers with sections so your food isnt all run together or tasting like styrofoam once you get it home. It's next to a liquor store and the parking lot is tight but it's worth the trip. Beats the competition, and in that area, it would be the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/ATTITUDES from behind the counter at the restaurant on 159th off the bishop ford. I won't credit that trash with a name. Tighten up the ladies plating the food and it's 5 stars for me. This review is based on the location off the Dolton exit on the Bishop Ford.
