My expectations were set pretty low because I've had a difficult time finding good Greek food in CO so I was so pleasantly surprised when I bit into the best gyro I've ever had. The meat just melted in my mouth, the tzatziki was nice and thick and the pita was soft and warm. My husband had a steak sandwich and it was good, but I recommend the lamb! Great fries and salad and reasonable prices. The portion was very appropriate. I'm looking forward to going back to try something else on the menu. read more

I so wanted to write a terrific review about this place because the appetizers were really good but it was not to be. My main dinner dish (Opa Sampler Plate - with Pastisio, Moussaka and Gyro meat) was fair at best. Way too much Béchamel sauce on both the Pastisio and Moussaka (they were drowning in it) and both were burned in places and bland in the rest. The Pastisio had hardly any pasta in it and the Moussaka had hardly any eggplant in it. The Gyro meat simply wasn't as good as it could have been. I've had better from pushcart vendors on the streets of the Bronx. The Greek vegetables on the dinner plate, too, were bland. The salad vegetables were crisp and the tomatoes firm but the Greek dressing was bland. Ironically, the appetizer sample plate was wonderful. The Dolmas were very tasty. The Tzatziki Dip was great. The Spicy Feta was among the best I've had. Pitas were that right combination of slightly crunchy in places with a nice chew. Hummas was good. The server, a teenage girl, was friendly, polite, efficient and a good combination of absent and present. We had to remind her to refill our glasses but she got right too it. After a disappointing main dinner, we didn't want to even try the desserts. It's a shame, too, because I love Baklava. But, at $6.00 a slice, I didn't want that heartburn either. This place could be really outstanding but it's just "meh." There's no excuse for burned food anytime. I would give it 2-1/2 stars for the service and the appetizers but there's no way to give a 1/2 star on this site. read more

Best greek food in south denver area and good service.

Awesome food, if your not in a hurry. I took my 9 yr old daughter there for lunch. The service was slow, but worth the wait. We started with the feta and olive appetizer. It was spot on, and the pita bread was soft and warm; absolutely delicious. For lunch I had the gyro sandwich. The gyro meat was tender and juicy. A great sandwich. My daughter got the kids pork skewers. A ton of oregano flavor, too much for a kid, but for my pallet was really good. The pork was juicy and nice big pieces. A total of 8 pieces, which was a lot for my daughter. We ended with baklava, which was great, and my daughter loved it. Great Greek food, but slow service. If you have the time, it's worth the wait. read more

It was ok, more like meh-diterranean. The service was good and the food came out quickly, I ordered the gyro platter and my fiancé ordered the gyro sandwich. My favorite part of the platter was getting the soup, the meat was cold and the veggies weren't very good. For a TakeOut Restaurant, 4 stars. Inside dining 1 star. The dinner was delicious, the atmosphere was so noisy I could not wait to get out of there! A woman stood behind the counter and literally tossed utensils into the bin, clash, clash, clash for just about the whole time we were there! Music was way too loud, I generally like it upbeat & happy - this was just down right noisy, I was not alone in my opinion. Too bad because it looks cozy and has potential to be a nice place to go. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! Four of us went to OPA for dinner looking forward to some good Greek food based on previous reviews. Much of the food was HIGHLY overseasoned and inedible. Pita bread - very good Greek salad - good Gyros sandwich - only lukewarm when it was brought to the table. Tasty after it was returned for a warmer sandwich. Tzatziki sauce was good but bland... Surprising considering how much of the other food we ordered was overseasoned. Lemon chicken rice soup - so salty could not eat more than a few spoonfuls. Chicken kebabs served with basmati rice and vegetables - chicken cooked well but again, highly overseasoned. Basmati rice crunchy (undercooked) VERY salty and overseasoned. Green beans either came from a can or were just kept warm for way too long... limp and gross. Pastitsio - per menu "baked macaroni with seasoned ground chuck, topped with bechamel creamy sauce". The macaroni and meat mixture was topped with more than an inch or more of something that was not creamy bechamel sauce. It was the consistency of mashed potatoes and contained so much nutmeg that it was inedible. Baklava - nothing to go back for... the syrup had not permeated the layers and it was not flaky in any way. Service = slow but when they showed up they were pretty good at keeping glasses filled, etc. The waitress just smiled when the mostly full bowl of soup was taken away and she was told the soup was way too salty to eat. That was not an appropriate reaction in our opinion. However, the owner was gracious and brought a warmer gyros sandwich quickly when the cold one was sent back. We may go back to OPA for gyros because it is conveniently located for us but that's it. read more

If you want authentic Greek cuisine, I would recommend this place. The service was decent, the ambiance is cool, and I would say that the food is a toss up. I will tell you that the soup is beyond amazing. I had this chicken soup and although it resembled dumplings, it was orzo. I would say that the entrees are very good, but I can tell that they are not necessarily fresh. My guess is that several of the dishes are cooked in the morning, portioned out, and then heated up to be served. The one thing that really caught my mind was the side of vegetables. The vegetables are definitely not fresh. The green beans I had were brown, which in my opinion resembles canned veggies, with is just completely, unacceptable. I give them 3 stars for the food, but definitely 5 stars for service! read more

If you love Greek food like we do, then this is the spot. Please eat at Opa so we can keep enjoying it! The definitive mark for a Greek place is the gyro meat, which is delicious here and looks like it is properly prepared. We had The Sampler and Opa combos. The hummus and tzatziki were traditional and didn't have any odd ingredients in it. The only down side of the combo was that we couldn't finish all that food. read more

Love Greek food I usually order the Greek Lunch which is Spanikopita, hummus and a small Greek salad, very delicious. My only complaint is the hummus is kinda of grainy, they should make it in a blender and make sure its good and creamy. Love creamy hummus made with fresh lemon. Really enjoy the pitas and always order extra to slop up the dressing and hummus. They would get 5 stars from me if the hummus improves. read more

We've been to Opa Grill maybe 4 times, the last time about 2 weeks ago. Our visits were all in the area of 3 to 4 stars. The food has always been fine, decent wine, but the ambience somewhat lacking. On our last visit, BOTH the hostess and our waitress were smacking gum. That was such a complete turn-off that I don't remember anything else about that visit. The food was excellent. The gyro sandwich was better than any I've had. The meat was delicious, not dry, but with a nice almost crispy coating. The pita was warm, light, fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive but not overly so. The baclava was fabulous. Often the pastry is wet and chewy, but in this case it was light and crispy. Great value. Opa has, hands down, **the worst** Greek food I have ever tasted. The green beans I was served were obviously canned, the gyro meat was awful and bland and didn't taste like gyro meat at all, the strange supposed greek version of lasagna (I forgot what they called it) consisted of mushy, overcooked noodles, a layer of dry ground beef, a thin sheen of flavorless tomato sauce and was topped by a bizarre, fluffy, slightly burned mixture of eggs mixed torrential amounts of nutmeg and cinnamon. I don't know about you but I don't often find the combination of ground beef, nutmeg and cinnamon appealing. The soup they gave me was canned as well. I didn't even get close to finishing my food. Bottom line: My husband paid $15 for me to eat pita bread. We will *never* go here again. read more

Went there for diner, the greek food was not a good choice. The beef kabobs were over cooked and all you could do was taste the green peppers. No one in my party cared for the basmati rice. The gyro meet was the same preprocess meet that you can get at a fast food restraunt. The night I wa there it was dried out. The veggies with the meal were an over cooked pile of pea . The Spanakopita is something that you may be willing to try once, but not a dish to come back for. The chicken and rice soup had a good flavor, but the rice was mush. read more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!... Don't waste your money! The combo platter looked like it was on its last leg. It was an epic fail on all three featured menu items including the side dish. The whole meal lacked any of that good greek seasoning you crave and savor... VERY BLAND! Half the slices of gyro meat were dark and dry....GROSS! The the moussaka had very little eggplant ; I found two little slices after looking under the mostly bechamel sauce. This was sloppily placed AND completely covered over the meager portion of pasticio, which may have been a 1/4 cup in serving size. I had a hard time distinguishing between the two dishes...One right on top of the other as if they did not have enough to give a proper serving. The vegetables were so soggy and unseasoned that you couldn't distinguish one from another except the zucchini had green skin. Unfortunately this side was the most generous serving on the plate. I am soooo mad at myself for not sending this dish back. I wish I had taken a picture of this, so you could see I'm telling you the truth! This probably the most disappointing meal I've ever eaten in all of Parker. Don't eat here. Go some place else for Greek cuisine. read more

Our service was good. My second trip back, I decided to try the chicken kabobs. The flavor of the marinade they use wasn't to my liking (odd) and they were very greasy for kabobs. My plate came with basmati rice, which I didn't particularly care for, and "veggies". When the plate arrived, the "veggies" was actually a pile of peas with a few bits of artichoke amongst some other unidentifiable mixins. I've never been a pea person. I hate peas. I've never seen a restaurant serve peas for their veggies. My Greek salad was okay, but my husband's chicken soup stuff (forgot the name) was pretty gross IMO. His Spanakopita was not really my cup of tea either, but then I guess this is the first time I've tried it so I don't really have anything to compare it to at another restaurant. I usually like spinach and feta but I didn't care for it together I guess. The Tzatziki was kinda blah but the pitas wedges were good. Our service was good but I don't think we'll be back. read more

The sauce was premade and ordered in, probably from the Sysco truck parked outside, delivering to this place. The bread was stale. I come to this restaurant a couple of times a month. I live a little bit north of parker and because I like greek food this place is certainly the closest for me to get my Gyro on. I stopped in this Monday and ordered the Gyro like I normally do. When I took my first bite, it tasted a little off, like it wasn't quite cooked. But I was hungry and I wolfed it down as I was under a time crunch to get back to work. Big mistake!...I spent the rest of the afternoon in the toilet. One of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've ever been to. Their staff is welcoming, menu is large, and their prices are reasonable. It's a small place and seem to close on a lot of holidays. If you go on Friday or Saturday be sure to call and make a reservation. read more

While the inside could use some updating this place makes some pretty yummy food. I ordered the Athenian Platter. A pretty good choice for vegetarians. Our hostess was super nice as well as our waitress. The food came in a good amount of time and tasted great! Only downside is being blinded by car headlights if you're sitting by the window. I was absolutely impressed with this place and would definitely make the drive to come back again (and again!). By looking at the menu, the prices were very reasonable and I expected almost a fast food type place. When I walked in, it was extremely nice, and welcoming. There is a nice patio outside as well. The wait staff was so friendly, trying to engage with my two year old (which not all do!). We ordered the gyros, and from the meat, to the sauce (I won't try to spell it) to the warm grilled pita bread, it was incredible! My mom (who will only frequent an authentic Greek restaurant in Denver because nothing else compares, and who is incredibly picky!) was very impressed with Opa as well. A friend recommended this plae and we tried it for the first time tonight. We ordered a greek combination plate to share and my husband ordered the lemon/chicken/rice soup. Both dishes were very good. The atmosphere is more european - which we like - with tablecloths and fabric napkins ... nice music too. The owner came to our table and asked how we liked our meal - you seldom have that happen in other restaurants. We also liked the fact that the service was not rushed ... We will definitely go back and recommend this place to our friends. read more
