Each bite had a lot of unfried batter. Wouldn't order this again.

Ordered the chicken fried steak and got the chicken and had to ask for the swap for steak. Asked for both gravy's and got them. Server misheard and got me the half portion. Saved me money. Each bite has too much invite batter. The French onion soup was bland. Odell hazy ipa was decent. There are HH discounts on drinks and apps although not advertised online. Good service although some mistakes.

Popper Burger lunch special. So SO good!

I have been wanting to come here for a long time. Finally had a day off and had lunch here. First time, won't be the last. Sat at the bar, the bartender was very cordial. She told me that the lunch special was a Popper Burger. Say no more! I ordered a beer and the burger. The burger was HUGE! It came with 2 poppers on top with pepperjack cheese. As you can see from the picture I took, the veggies come on the side so you can use as much or as little as you like. I pulled the poppers off and ate them separately, delicious. The burger, well it is one of the best burgers I have had for some time. Sure, we go to a few of the regular burger places that do smash type burger, this more like a char burger. Just so fricking good. The fries were the battered type and were so good. I was able to power through and eat the entire burger, left some of the veggies and a couple fries and I was so full. A good kind of full! So much more to try, and will be trying to find an evening to go have dinner.

    Great menu!

Easy five stars here! Place had a good. I w and obviously a number of people there were regulars. Looking at the various plates ordered at the different tables it is clear that making a decision is hard! I really enjoyed what I ordered but the fried Walleye looked amazing and the waitress said it was. Desserts were amazing! If going here, get there early as it fills up fast and when you enter, the left is for less formal/bar seating and to the right the formal dining room.

For a Friday night, I was surprised it wasn't busy. I chose to sit at the bar, which turned out to be perfect--no wait for a table and a great atmosphere. Initially, I planned on having just one drink and ordering takeout, but I decided to dine in instead. And wow, I'm so glad I did! The filet and scallops special, topped with lobster sauce, was absolutely incredible. The filet was cooked to perfection--so tender I only needed my fork. The lobster bisque-style sauce added a rich, flavorful twist that elevated the dish, even though I usually prefer my steak simply with salt and pepper. My bartender, Alden, was fantastic. He was the first (and only) one to greet me right away, checked in often, and made sure I had everything I needed. His attentiveness really stood out. I'm fairly certain this meal wasn't gluten-free, but it was worth every bite--that's how good it was. Having traveled a lot this year, I can honestly say this deserves a 5-star rating, even for the seafood, which I usually only find exceptional back home on the East Coast. Truly impressive!

Danielle's Scratch Kitchen is damn near the same as what I am used to. The chicken parm might be the best I've had (other than what mama made). My wife and I each started with a glass of wine, and then even though we hadn't planned to get an appetizer, we decided to order a side of bread with oil. The bread was amazing! It was a large order, and both the consistency and flavor were fantastic. There were a few different dishes I was considering, including the halibut, but since this was our first visit, I decided to go with the chicken Marsala, which many on here have raved about. First, it was a big portion with two large chicken breasts. On a future visit, my wife and I could split an appetizer or salad and then one order of the chicken. Next, flavor of everything was wonderful. Unlike a typical Marsala, which can be very heavy and overpowering, this sauce was lighter...in color, consistency, and taste. It was a perfect compliment to the chicken. Asparagus and potatoes were delicious too. My wife got the ravioli with pesto, and she really enjoyed her dish as well. Service was warm, pleasant, there when we needed it, but not overpowering, exactly what you'd hope for and expect from a restaurant of this stature. Very happy we finally got here. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

Frankly, It appeared the restaurant was trying to operate with a skeleton crew. One waitress, with occasional help from one manager, was trying to accommodate the entire restaurant. The obvious result was extremely slow service, a flustered server, clientele looking around constantly for a drink order/ refill, appetizers, dinner, their check...etc. Our food was spotty. First, the calamari appetizer was pretty great (thus the 2 star rating) with a wonderful dipping sauce. I took us several tries to order a bottle of wine as the restaurant was out of two different bottles that we tried to order. Not a huge deal. Our salads ranged from lackluster (house salad) to pathetic (Caesar) and dinner was less than wonderful. My husband's walleye looked like it was going to be pretty tasty but after one taste and he said it was bland, overcooked and disappointing. My lamb ragu was equally disappointing with overcooked fettuccine and a dry, pithy and underwhelming ragu. The bison burger was fine, cooked pretty close to ordered and nicely presented. The fish & chips were blah as was the Alfredo. The check was over $200 dollars. In the end, I would say The Grill at the Pines would be fine for cocktails and appetizers or possibly lunch, if you can afford the wait. Otherwise, I would say the inadequate wait staff resulting in slow and harried service is unacceptable, the menu is overpriced for the quality delivered and the whole dinner experience leaves you feeling sorry for the restaurant, sorry for the friendly manager, but mostly sorry that you just spent that much time and money on a less than great dinner out. ***Note: the location is attractive and the patio really quite inviting. It's a shame about the rest.

First let's talk about their wings: their Cajun wings were BOMB! Cooked perfectly, seasoned heavily like I like it and the flavor was great! I think they may be the best wings I have found in Castle Rock. The pizza was one with prosciutto & pickled onions. So good! The crust is on point. Cooked beautifully. Just trust me on that. The server took our order but never put it in so while our friends ate and drank we got nothing. Once we were able to track down the server, she blamed the kitchen which left a bad taste in my mouth (I'd prefer she just admit she forgot to put in the order) and when my friend's pizza came out 12-15 mins later, it was the wrong pizza altogether. She got pepperoni. So they had to remake it. They still get 4 stars because the food was awesome. I would definitely go there for takeout and plan to soon!

The night started fun, but things quickly took a turn. From where we were sitting (not part of the group involved), I noticed a man becoming aggressive toward another nearby group--yelling at them and eventually shoving someone, which led to a fight. As someone simply watching it unfold, it was pretty clear who escalated the situation. What was most surprising, though, was how it was handled. The owner appeared to side with the individual who initiated the confrontation and ultimately removed the group instead. Later, we heard that the man involved was actually a friend of the owner. From an outside perspective, the group that was asked to leave seemed calm and was minding their business before things escalated. Watching everything unfold--and seeing how it was handled--left a really negative impression. Unfortunately, that experience made the environment feel uncomfortable and biased, which is disappointing because the night had started on such a positive note.

We arrived around 6:30 p.m. It was busy, but we were seated right away. The restaurant is cute and has a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered several dishes to share, including the fried green beans, cucumber salad, mini fried pork bao, and beef and onion dumplings. The green beans and cucumber salad were definite highlights--both were fresh and delicious. The mini fried pork bao were also excellent, and with 10 in an order, they were surprisingly filling. We ordered only a few items but left completely satisfied. Lupe was our server, and he was attentive and quick throughout the evening. Our water glasses never sat empty, even on a busy Friday night. We finished with the sweet taro buns, which came with three per order. The buns were wonderfully soft, and the sweet taro filling was delicious. The only thing I would love to see added is a selection of mocktails on the drink menu. A few thoughtful nonalcoholic options would have made the experience even better. We had a great evening and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Despite having a reservation, we weren't seated promptly because the restaurant didn't have a table available. We were offered a spot at the bar, which we accepted. About 15 minutes after us, another couple arrived and were seated immediately in a booth we had been promised. The waiter spent about 20 minutes chatting with them, even though the restaurant was completely booked. We also noticed that the diners were handing him a large wad of cash when they paid their bill. Another issue we've had is that the food is not properly spaced out between courses, which makes the meal feel rushed and poorly managed. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unnecessarily uncomfortable. For a restaurant that should know how to handle reservations and provide professional service, this was a major disappointment. In the future, we'll stick to takeout instead of dining in. The food is always excellent, and we'll just enjoy it in the privacy of our own home.
