Finding good Greek / Mediterranean food anywhere is tough. If you haven't actually been to Greece you haven't had an authentic food experience. I was lucky enough to go to Crete , Greece 4 times while in the military in the late 80's. I still haven't found that replacement , but I've come pretty close a couple times. The Chicken Kabob here was really good , thick flavorful pieces that were seasoned well on a wooden skewer. I would recommend getting these. The Beef and Lamb Gyro was large and full of meat , veggies , and sauce. The meat was decent , but I wasn't impressed by it. The sauce also was mid , could be thicker and more flavor. I got a sample of the Roasted Potatoes and I would recommend them. The Rice looked good , but I didn't try it. They have some desserts too. The Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cake were monsters ! If my son was here with me in Myrtle Beach I definitely would've gotten both. I think for most people they would be happy to have lunch or dinner here. $13.00 for a Gyro and $7.00 for a Chicken Kabob. read more

We are glad we found Opa Opa just by chance near the Public Grocery store. We had two Gyros and a large Greek salad. There were three of us and we shared the food. The salad was really delicious with the olives and feta and a great oil and vinegar vinaigrette dressing. They had an awesome dessert case but we were too full to eat dessert. read more

First time in Myrtle Beach and I had a hankering for Mediterranean cuisine, specifically falafel. Unfortunately, Opa Opa did not have falafel, but I would certainly still recommend! Upon entering, the restaurant itself was neat and clean - a must for me! The owner, immediately began putting out tables together (a table for 6) without us even asking. No one else noticed but I did, which I am grateful for. I ordered the chicken platter over a bed of rice and potatoes which came with a Greek salad and a side of pita bread. Although I wanted falafel, I was happy to have that chicken! It was so flavorful and juicy. In general, the portion sizes were very large that I had to share some of my food. The salad was so refreshing! And the pita bread was a bit oily/buttery, but very fresh. I would highly recommend if you looking for fresh and fast service and quality. read more

Perfect for quick counter (fast casual, but better tasting food) service on a variety of Greek options. Takeaway is well packaged to maintain integrity of each component of your meal. You can get a meal of appetizers (including exclusively dips, should you so desire), sandwiches, or platters that all come with pita and salad, or dessert. A small number of Greek grocery items are also available. I think the first time I went here was in late 2020 and it's been consistent: tasty, well-prepared food at a fair price. It is very clean and seems well run. I love that they let you get a combination of the lemon potatoes (which are simultaneously so creamy and rich and crispy) and delicious savory rice for platters. Witnessed a customer return their order due to chicken being tuff. The staff took their order and put the chicken back on the grill! They then told the customer that the chicken was cooked perfectly instead of asking how to make it right. Eventually they did ask how they could make it right. We should have walked out at this point but after traveling all day we just wanted dinner. The person taking our order didn't know the menu. After several attempts to order the combo platter we opted to order the beef/lamp gyro. We asked what the opa opa sauce was and she kept saying they only had one kind of sauce. Finally another employee explained to us what the sauce was. We decided to take our order to go. The meat on the gyro was not the typical thin slices but rather chunks of meat. I had the chicken gyro with a side of the lemon potatoes. My goodness, this was so good! The tziki sauce was amazing, and the chicken was grilled to perfection. The service was good too, received my gyro and potatoes table side fairly quickly considering it was a busy time of day. The taste was to my satisfaction which is incredible for the money spent. You won't find a better product for cheaper anywhere else in the area. The overall feel of the establishment was inviting and suitable. With friendly staff. My only recommendation would be to and a few touches to the bathroom to make it feel like the rest of the establishment. What a great addition to the area! I loved that upon entering I saw gyro meat rotating on a spit- talk about fresh! The gyro platter was very delicious and the food all tasted fresh and flavorful. Really enjoyed the salad. The tzakiki and also the other similar mayo sauce (recommended for kids) very flavorful. I will definitely return. The owner was very friendly. We visited the restaurant with our in laws and didn't realize they closed in 30 minutes. The staff was incredibly accommodating and the food was phenomenal. We chose to eat outside due to them closing so quickly and we were eating with 3 little ones who are quite messy. I personally had the chicken gyro platter and some of the beet salad appetizer. The chicken was incredibly tender and seasoned well, the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the beets tender and well seasoned. Standard fare at a premium price. In short, I hoped to provide a better review but after two trys all I can say is this is way overpriced dependable, but standard fare. For example, the beef/lamb gyro is fine, right off the cone/spit, but just another wholesale already prepared cone like any fast food gyro shop. It's not "fresh" or produced in-house in my opinion. So the nearly $30 for two sandwiches (without sides or drinks) is outrageously priced. The dolma seemed canned. The salad was fresh and dressing good, with plenty of feta--so the salad seemed the only solid value. Some of the staff was very nice, but the cashier seemed more intent with her phone than the customer in front of her (for a long long long time) and was overtly rude. Not knocking the establishment for this in the rating, but it's hard to expect people to overpay for cafeteria food and get iffy service at the same time. read more

I had the caprese salad with beef and lamb. Delicious (although the tomatoes were not stellar - it is past the season for great tomatoes). Where I live, we have great Greek Pizza and an odd pollution of white onions. Here, we found a reasonable amount of white onion. Yummy tzatziki. Pita accompaniment. Oil and vinegar on the table. We ordered baklava cheesecake to take home (perhaps a good breakfast?) because our dinner was so good. We could easily have spent 3 times as much in the area and been half as happy. read more
