Always amazing and authentic experience at Lokum. Food is always fresh and tasty. The owner is very courteous and friendly, and more importantly, makes delicious food. I love their donner wrap and the chicken kebabs. As for the desserts, my favorite is the kazindibi ( not sure if I spelled it right). The ambiance and the vibe are also magnificent.

Most restaurants toss middle eastern cuisine into a big pile and call it all the same, however, at Lokum you get the FULL Turkish experience. Lokum means "Turkish Delight" after all. My husband is from İstanbul, and I am half Turkish/grew up in the USA. We both absolutely ADORED the people who run this amazing establishment. They were so sweet and running around making sure everyone had their needs met. The food is made fresh to order, so be prepared to wait and don't be a prude- It's delicious food just like mom makes it. Additionally, it IS halal. Everything we ordered was 10/10. Even the Döner was very close to what is served in Türkiye. The künefe was the best we've ever had in a restaurant, and it's made traditionally. The hospitality, the friendly faces, the delicious food- All worth giving a try- and ALL at a price you cannot beat, especially in this economy! I highly suggest trying the Ayran (salted yogurt drink). It is hand made and very good. If you're not used to it, you may not like it though, but this is the best place to try it! This is one of the best places in the entire South to get accustomed to Turkish culture, and we will definitely be back for the Lahmacun when we visit again. They do make it, but sell out early! If you're not into culture, they serve pizza- and it's fabulous. I was hoping the pepperoni would be sucuk but it is halal beef. Still so very tasty! Çok güzel!

It s location is just off the main highway in a nice shared retail space with plenty of parking and very little traffic. The food is fast and delicious Mediterranean food. I'm a sucker for shawarma and this one is cooked well. The hummus and pizza were the other items I tasted and they were an A+. The only issue is that the soda drink options have no refills because you have to order by the bottle. If that's my biggest complaint then this plus is alright! Mediterranean is one of those places that can make everyone in the group happy no matter their diet. This restaurant kept up with our hunger and made everyone happy in the group. Timely service and good food can't be beat.

Originally, my girlfriend & I were going to eat at the Cook Out further north up US 17 Business on Labor Day Monday, 9/2/24. But it started heavily raining, and it was only to go at this Cook Out; the one I went to before was dine-in, so that threw us for a loop. We would've had to wait outside in the pouring rain to order and then eat in the car, which I had no interest in doing. We were ultimately meeting up with friends down on the boardwalk south of 8th Ave N. We had parked on Broadway and thought about eating over there, but nothing stood out. We walked to Ocean Blvd, there were a couple of places that were to go or just wasn't feeling. Shwarma's King looked promising and coincidentally that's where some friends already were. So, we settled on that. My biggest pet peeve with restaurants is no courtesy cup of water for paying customer of food. Water should be given no questions asked. You order at the counter. I will say the owner was very nice. And we were desperate since I don't normally do food purchases from a business who refuses water. My g/f went ahead and paid since I froze when we talked about the no water cup, and she bought water. I will also say that the Schwarma wrap was great. It was too bad he denied courtesy cup of water, which should be a given with the meal because I think I would've given this 5-stars instead of 2-stars considering the friendly owner & great food.

Found this lil gem as we were out at the outlet Mall. Wow guys!!…read more I Love kabab but this is the Best place for Kebab I've found so far! The girls inside greet you as you walk in and they are never without their gorgeous smiles! This place feels like one big family dinner experience! All of the girls take very good care of you. You start out with an appetizer plate of sorts; really just an accompaniment to the Hot lil bread pillows of Yum (more on these in a bit!). A corn slaw served alongside a tangy delish yogurt and some sliced Green olives. Super yum! Now the PITA? Puffy little pillows of HEAVEN. The girls put them thru the salamander oven to toast up just before bringing them to the table. so when they set them in front of you? They are Piping Hot and Toasty, with a touch of sweet.... DELICIOUSNESS!!! We were going to order the kabab Mixed platter in order to try a variety of kabab; but our sweet server told us about a better way to go! Upon her recommendation we got two of the kabab plates, complete with salad and pilaf - AND we were still able to sample multiple kabab! I got the shrimp and lamb while the hubs got the beef and lamb. Complete the plate with a moist lightly flavored pilaf and the Jerusalem Salad and I'm Tellin you!! Drool Worthy!!! The kebab are cooked perfectly? With a lil pink onboard; and the flavor? Spiced PERFECTLY! Lamb with Zero gaminess and ALLLLL the YUM!! Slightly smoky from the grill and slightly sweet in the background. With hints of Cumin coming to the party. One of my Absolute favorite spices! The shrimp is sweet with undertones of citrus and something else I couldn't quite place These puppies are ginormous and cooked to plump juicy perfection! The salad is a fresh mix of cucumber and tomatoes w slight hints of mint and parsley and lemon heightened w just a touch of salt. This place is AWESOME!!! Istanbul Shish Kabab is a DEF stop thru when your in the Charleston area. Come by for top notch service and TOP NOTCH CUISINE!! Thanks guys we Will be back!!

I ordered to-go since I wanted to relax and eat in my hotel room. At first, I'll admit the restaurant itself didn't feel as clean or organized as I would've liked, and I almost walked across to Chick-fil-A. But I decided to go with the positive reviews I had seen--and I'm really glad I did. The cashier was incredibly kind and attentive, which made a great first impression. I ordered the mixed platter for one and swapped the lamb kofta for chicken kofta. Everything was delicious--flavorful, well-cooked, and satisfying. The chicken, steak, and kofta were all done really well. I especially loved that they give extra whipped garlic (because honestly, you can never have enough), and the bread... SO good. Fresh, warm, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Overall, despite my initial hesitation, the food and service really won me over. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Their main focus is on fresh halal meat and seafood and Middle Eastern products. Eventually the owner plans to start a bakery and dine-in restaurant. They just started having fresh produce today, including kale, cabbage, corn on the cob, squash, tomatoes, limes. Packaged pita bread, individually packaged halva sweets, and bulk nuts, green almonds, and Egyptian dukkah spice are available. Other products are a little bit of everything, including Latin foods, canned goods, kitchenware, syria soap, beans, rice (Egyptian, Basmati, etc), spices, dates, snacks, tea, turkish coffee. Some of the frozen/refrigerated foods include smoked herring, bacon, biscuits, falafel, grated soursop, melted chocolate, mac and cheese with langoustine, Norwegian salmon, sausages, calamari, gelato, Turkish bagels, gyro slices, samosas, kebab, chicken patties, Lahmajun bread, lavash, plain paratha, frozen veggies and herbs including Okra, molokhia herb, broad beans, baklava, kunefe, cheeses. Shelf products include Ghee ($8.99 for 14 oz), Tahini sesame paste ($5.99 for 16 oz or $8.99 for 32 oz or $21.99 for eight pounds), Egyptian rice, basmati rice, different flours like chickpea, almond, cassava, coconut, whole wheat, Jareesh (crushed wheat), cauliflower rice, small packaged noodles, lupini beans, jarred pacaya, vermicelli, basbousa boxed mix. There are a lot of different and interesting spices, such as Chinese pine nuts, dried limes, mahshi spice, lebanese spices (shawarma, kibby, sumac, kafta, ouzi), yemeni hot chili pepper, black roasted onions, yemen spice, Zaatar, as well as Karkaday Egyptian Hibiscus tea flowers. I tried this pastry made from Karen bakery in New Jersey, warmed up in the oven for about 15 minutes at 350°. It was plain, but very good-flaky and buttery. The bread would go perfect with tea for an afternoon snack or small breakfast meal. Also tried frozen falafel (Ziyad brand) and baked it, even though it called for deep frying (trying to be healthy you know). They were cute little circular shaped falafel, about 1.75 in diameter and about half an inch thick. Although I prefer a ball shaped size, it did have good flavor. If there's a product you're looking for and they don't have it, the owner is willing to see if he can get it for you. I look forward to coming back when the bakery and restaurant opens. Side note: ask permission if you want to take any pictures. The owner was not happy or friendly towards me taking close up pictures of his products while browsing the store, regardless of the reason. I didn't have the greatest shopping experience. So if you want to try to remember the name of the product, best to write it down on a notepad instead of taking a picture. But then again, he might not like that either.
