As a seafood lover, I really enjoyed the ambiance at Osta Seafood Grill. The restaurant had a beautiful, calm, and inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very welcoming throughout our visit. We ordered several dishes, and overall, the food was enjoyable. The potato tower was one of my favorites. The potatoes had a naturally sweet flavor that reminded me of Japanese sweet potatoes, which I really enjoyed. The ahi tuna with mango, Thai chilies, and white rice was also delicious. The combination of mango and Thai chilies added a lot of flavor, and it was one of my favorite components of the meal. I would have appreciated having soy sauce served on the side with the ahi tuna. The seafood pasta was probably my favorite entrée. It came with mussels, scallops, shrimp, and small pieces of octopus, which made the dish especially enjoyable for a seafood lover. The pasta was cooked nicely and topped with a flavorful tomato sauce. Personally, I would have liked the sauce to have a little more depth and complexity, and I think a side of bread would have complemented the dish nicely. Overall, my favorites were the seafood pasta and the potato dish served with the chipotle sauce. I would definitely return if I were in the area, although I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Came here last time Tom was our server , and told him about how was our first experience here .. He really felt sorry about that , but anyway we were here to give another chance since we liked the food. Now we are here again and Tom is our server again! :) What a lovely luck. We returned on Sunday to celebrate mom's 82nd birthday, and it was a great experience. Our server, Hunter was outstanding! Very friendly, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely engaging throughout the meal. I had the Fruitti di Mare, which I've had before. They happily again accommodated my shrimp allergy and added extra mussels and fish instead. We ordered the mussels dish in a curry sauce which was very delicious. The mussels were on the smaller side, which I actually prefer. My daughter ordered the prime rib dip, which was huge and very good. BF had the Cacio e Pepe with shrimp and enjoyed it. Though he felt it could use more pepper, which was promptly provided. Since mom has difficulty chewing, we ordered the Maui onion soup for her. She wasn't overly impressed with it, but then again, that's how she is. :) She also had a poached egg that was presented, adorably and perfect for her. Hunter accidentaly forgot the egg order, but immediately removed it from the bill. When he learned it was mom's birthday, he brought us a creme brulee and small vanilla bean ice cream sundae, both complimentary and both delicious. Hunter really made the experience special. He kept complimenting mom, was incredibly kind, and even suggested an alternative espresso martini with tequila. He assured me, if I didn't like it, he'd happily replace it. Opah is a seafood centric restaurant that gets it right on every level. You are greeted warmly when you arrive and seated promptly, after which service takes over. Your waiter (in this case Lucio) introduces himself, details the specials, answers menu questions and takes your drink order. By the way, there is no corkage fee on your first bottle and $20 on your second, which is generous and user friendly. The vibe is energetic and buzzy; it's clear patrons are enjoying themselves. Our group of six ordered Brussels sprouts to share and I started with Maui onion soup, both quite tasty. Our entrees included a halibut special, crab cakes, shrimp cacio e Pepe and salmon salad, all executed extremely well and delicious, and all came out at the same time. People have recommended Opah to me on numerous occasions and Im glad I finally went. The food absolutely blew me away. This will definitely be one of my go to spots from now on. There is plenty of outdoor seating and the bar area is very spacious. During my visit the restaurant was busy as they were hosting a Lalo tequila dinner, but service was still prompt. For appetizers we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates and a crock of the Clam Chowder. The Bacon Wrapped Dates had a nice chewy texture with a perfect blend of savory, salty, and sweet. The Clam Chowder was some of the best Ive tried. I would go back just for the chowder alone. Since I was dining with a group of friends, I was able to try multiple different entrees. I ordered the Reserve Skirt Steak, which was so tender and flavorful. The fingerling potatoes were undercooked and kind of disappointing though. The Day Boat Scallops were cooked to perfection and the sweet corn risotto perfectly complimented the delicate flavor of the scallops. The Lump Crab Cakes tasted very fresh and was made with a lot of crab meat. Another of my friends ordered the Togarashi Ahi, which was good but my least favorite of the entrees. For desserts we ordered the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding and the Creme Brulee. Both of these desserts and all the cocktails were delicious. After moving away for 10 years, we just moved back to town and found this place that we had never been. Shockingly! What a fun spot. Everyone we know seems to know about the place. We came right in time as happy hour was ending. The bartenders were super attentive and got to us right away and let us know we had a few minutes to order. We got the ginger chicken meatballs and a couple beers. We decided to stay and have dinner. So we decided to try mai tai but we asked the bartender if he could make one less sweet. There was one already on the menu. It was boozy, but delicious! We also the crab cakes, and the ahi salad. The actual crab cakes were really good. I wast a fan of the sauce. But that's totally subjective. You should still try them. They were some of the best I've tried. The owner came around and introduced himself and gave his card. He seemed very earnest. I appreciate the personal touch. The same goes for the bartenders. They seemed very invested in our happiness. In this day and age, that kind of service goes far. We found our new spot! read more

Went for Happy Hour on a Friday, and it was packed by the time I left, which says a lot. I asked the bartender for their most popular drinks and he recommended the Royal Mai Tai and Dragon Blossom. I've been coming to Opah in Aliso Viejo for work lunches, happy hour, dinner for the last 15 years, so this review is extremely disappointing to write. I came in today right when they opened, before 11:30 AM, and my friend and I were literally the first customers in. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip and while eating it, I found a string of wire inside my sandwich -- not just any wires, but pieces from a metal cleaning sponge. The owner even confirmed it! Absolutely horrifying. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and very cautious about what I eat, even confirming that the meat would be cooked medium. To find something like this in my food was beyond unacceptable. That's a huge food safety issue and could have seriously injured someone. My friend and I were both disgusted and immediately lost our appetite. We couldn't eat anything other than the cup of clam chowder that was served beforehand. I really hope management addresses this with their kitchen staff and takes action so this never happens again. I've trusted this place for so many years, but this experience has seriously shaken my confidence in their food safety. read more

Came here the other day to eat with my family. We ordered a variety of entree dishes + sides and everything turned out to be delicious. The hosts and servers were all very welcoming and attentive to all our needs. The restaurant had a clean, elegant yet casual atmosphere as well. They feature plenty of seating both inside and outside as well as a full bar with some TVs, so it also looks like a good spot to catch a beer and the game if you're in the mood for that. I have to give my dad credit for finding this one because it's become a recent go-to for our family! We've been twice in as many months. My favorite has been the scallops over risotto - the scallops are large, lightly seared, and the risotto is decadent and creamy, a fabulous pairing. I would probably ask for a little less salt next time, but this is a personal preference. The mussels are an absolute must with the house bread (in fact, we ordered a second plate of bread, haha). Our family has also tried the salmon, which is so uniquely paired with a coconut jasmine rice - flavoring similar to a Thai mango sticky rice - and crab cakes. Everything is remarkably fresh! Both times we've gone, Steven has been our server and is always jovial and helpful in recommending dishes. OPAH is also dog-friendly - the outdoor patio is fully covered and blocks out the wind. Ive also tried the pork chops, sugarcane tenderloin, clam chowder which are also good but not as great. Apps can get pretty pricy compared to other places. Main entrees are priced fairly. If I was to make some suggestions would be to include more interesting dessert options maybe add vegan/dairy-free. Expand the happy hour menu. Also for staff to note the reservations details/comments on OpenTable when celebrating special occasions. We weren't greeted last time around. We were greeted at the door and we decided to sit on the patio since it was a warm evening and the patio is really nice for easy conversations. The management here is PHENOMENAL!!!!! My dad uses a walker, and every time we visit, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure he is comfortable. There is a step at the main entrance, so they kindly open the gate near the outdoor seating area to make access much easier for him. That level of care and attention is truly appreciated. The food is excellent as well. The truffle fries are a must-order, and the burrata, shrimp, and mussels are consistently great choices. The menu offers a wonderful variety of options, with something for everyone. The fish and chips are excellent, and their cocktail and bar program is equally impressive. We sat in the bar area and waited 15 min. before I had to flag someone down to take our drink order. A couple who arrived after us and sat in the booth next to us seemed to know the owner and received prompt service. My clam chowder was good, as usual, but $15 for a bowl is a bit much. We also had the fish & chips which was bland and portion was small. My husband's Maui onion soup was way too salty. At $2 per raw oyster, they were the real star of the meal. On the big size and very fresh, they were delicious. The ginger chicken meatballs were very good, but it was a small portion - only 3 meatballs. A couple of bites and it was all gone. It was Father's Day and we made a last minute decision to go out for dinner. We were lucky enough to snag a reservation for our party of 6 adults. We were greeted by the friendly hostess when we arrived and seated at a nice table out on the patio, the weather was perfect for al fresco dining. We agreed on some appetizers to share, the Kung Pao Calamari and the Ginger Chicken Meatballs as well as a nice bottle of wine. Everything was really good, we then did our entree orders and got the Toasted Garlic Salmon, Maryland Blue Crab Cakes, Filet Mignon and the Reserve Skirt Steak. Everyone agreed the food was especially good, we ended up ordering a second bottle of the Katherine Goldschmidt Cabernet which was very nice. I made a quick restroom stop before leaving and the men's room was clean and well stocked. As we finished taking care of payment at our table, we were greeted by the owner who asked how everything was.
