Always my favorite date night spot. The service, cocktails, amd food always hit the spot. If you have never been here, stop sleeping on it. The chipotle chicken sandwich is awesome and so is the scallop dish. My favorite appetizer is the kung pao calamari. Will be back for next bday per usual.

    Spinach artichoke dip was yummy!

Came in for happy hour the other day! It was EXCELLENT! Their drink menu is full of my kind of drinks! Our server Hunter was fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The band, Art of Sax, was great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The manager came by to check on us. Everyone was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was just a great time![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good cocktails. Good food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good service. What else can you ask for?!

People have recommended Opah to me on numerous occasions and Im glad I finally went. The food absolutely blew me away. This will definitely be one of my go to spots from now on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of outdoor seating and the bar area is very spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During my visit the restaurant was busy as they were hosting a Lalo tequila dinner, but service was still prompt. For appetizers we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates and a crock of the Clam Chowder. The Bacon Wrapped Dates had a nice chewy texture with a perfect blend of savory, salty, and sweet. The Clam Chowder was some of the best Ive tried. I would go back just for the chowder alone. Since I was dining with a group of friends, I was able to try multiple different entrees. I ordered the Reserve Skirt Steak, which was so tender and flavorful. The fingerling potatoes were undercooked and kind of disappointing though. The Day Boat Scallops were cooked to perfection and the sweet corn risotto perfectly complimented the delicate flavor of the scallops. The Lump Crab Cakes tasted very fresh and was made with a lot of crab meat. Another of my friends ordered the Togarashi Ahi, which was good but my least favorite of the entrees. For desserts we ordered the Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding and the Creme Brulee. Both of these desserts and all the cocktails were delicious. I will definitely be returning sooner rather than later.

After moving away for 10 years, we just moved back to town and found this place that we had never been. Shockingly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun spot. Everyone we know seems to know about the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came right in time as happy hour was ending. The bartenders were super attentive and got to us right away and let us know we had a few minutes to order. We got the ginger chicken meatballs and a couple beers. We decided to stay and have dinner. So we decided to try mai tai but we asked the bartender if he could make one less sweet. There was one already on the menu. It was boozy, but delicious! We also the crab cakes, and the ahi salad. The actual crab cakes were really good. I wast a fan of the sauce. But that's totally subjective. You should still try them. They were some of the best I've tried. The owner came around and introduced himself and gave his card. He seemed very earnest. I appreciate the personal touch. The same goes for the bartenders. They seemed very invested in our happiness. In this day and age, that kind of service goes far. We found our new spot!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Went for Happy Hour on a Friday, and it was packed by the time I left, which says a lot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked the bartender for their most popular drinks and he recommended the Royal Mai Tai and Dragon Blossom. From their happy hour menu, tried the mussels, oysters on the half shell, ginger chicken meatballs, and white truffle fries which were perfect for sharing. Everything was so good! Look forward to going back to try their of their menu items and cocktails.

I've been coming to Opah in Aliso Viejo for work lunches, happy hour, dinner for the last 15 years, so this review is extremely disappointing to write. I came in today right when they opened, before 11:30 AM, and my friend and I were literally the first customers in. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip and while eating it, I found a string of wire inside my sandwich -- not just any wires, but pieces from a metal cleaning sponge. The owner even confirmed it! Absolutely horrifying. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and very cautious about what I eat, even confirming that the meat would be cooked medium. To find something like this in my food was beyond unacceptable. That's a huge food safety issue and could have seriously injured someone. My friend and I were both disgusted and immediately lost our appetite. We couldn't eat anything other than the cup of clam chowder that was served beforehand. I really hope management addresses this with their kitchen staff and takes action so this never happens again. I've trusted this place for so many years, but this experience has seriously shaken my confidence in their food safety.

Came here the other day to eat with my family. We ordered a variety of entree dishes + sides and everything turned out to be delicious. The hosts and servers were all very welcoming and attentive to all our needs. The restaurant had a clean, elegant yet casual atmosphere as well. They feature plenty of seating both inside and outside as well as a full bar with some TVs, so it also looks like a good spot to catch a beer and the game if you're in the mood for that. All in all, my first time eating at OPAH was a great experience. They served great tasting food and provided exceptional service. I would definitely come back again.

Definitely ask for the bread to go with the mussels
    Evelyn K.

I have to give my dad credit for finding this one because it's become a recent go-to for our family! We've been twice in as many months. My favorite has been the scallops over risotto - the scallops are large, lightly seared, and the risotto is decadent and creamy, a fabulous pairing. I would probably ask for a little less salt next time, but this is a personal preference. The mussels are an absolute must with the house bread (in fact, we ordered a second plate of bread, haha). Our family has also tried the salmon, which is so uniquely paired with a coconut jasmine rice - flavoring similar to a Thai mango sticky rice - and crab cakes. Everything is remarkably fresh! Both times we've gone, Steven has been our server and is always jovial and helpful in recommending dishes. OPAH is also dog-friendly - the outdoor patio is fully covered and blocks out the wind. The restaurant is situated close to the theater and a Barnes & Noble, and it's quiet and always a comfortable visit.

Im surprised I dont have a review here yet. Been to this location multiple times already and we always have a good experience. Good quality food with top-notch service. Comfy seating inside and out. Favorites must-haves include the Prince Edward Mussels Provencale, Day Boat Scallops with corn risotto, Kung Pao Calamari, Warm Parker House rolls, Shishito Peppers, Bacon wrapped dates, Fresh brewed tropical iced tea. Ive also tried the pork chops, sugarcane tenderloin, clam chowder which are also good but not as great. Apps can get pretty pricy compared to other places. Main entrees are priced fairly. If I was to make some suggestions would be to include more interesting dessert options maybe add vegan/dairy-free. Expand the happy hour menu. Also for staff to note the reservations details/comments on OpenTable when celebrating special occasions. We weren't greeted last time around. Overall 5 stars for solid restaurant that delivers consistently good quality food every time.

Absolutely LOVE Opah!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff here is always super friendly and they are very dog friendly on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also love that they make their patio looks so charming so even if you do have to sit outside, it's beautiful and has nice heaters![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have a gluten allergy so they have plenty of GF options, including my favorite, which is their scallops with corn risotto. Their bacon wrap dates are also superb. I've also tried their salmon salad and it was absolutely delicious! Their martinis always hit the spot and we love coming back every single time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and highly recommend![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I didn't realize I never updated my review when I came here to dine with my husband for dinner last month. We sat inside due to the rain and started with their calamari which was yummy. I ordered the scallops and risotto and my husband ordered the crab cakes. The scallops and risotto were delicious and my husband said his crab cakes were just okay. Overall a nice dining experience.

Opah has been in my family's wishlist for years and finally came here for happy hour. The happy hour menu has a limited selection of food but found that the oysters were in the menu. They were a good sized oyster and juicy. The Ginger Chicken Meatballs were excellent but just a small portion. The Blistered Shishito Peppers were slightly spicy and flavorful. I enjoyed eating them. The restaurant is nicely lit and comfortable. Overall service was helpful.

I went to Opah's to meet a friend for happy hour to exchange Christmas gifts and catch up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were greeted at the door and we decided to sit on the patio since it was a warm evening and the patio is really nice for easy conversations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We chose two appetizers and we each had a mocktail (dry January for us.) I chose the Blue Hawaiian Mockarita which was delicious. My friend had a club soda with a splash of cranberry, which is her go-to drink. The two appetizers we chose were the Spicy Tuna Tartare and the Sugarcane Tenderloin. Both were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The server was right on point and the ambiance of the patio made our evening very enjoyable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm

    How much is corkage?

Our dining companions brought a bottle. I want to say 15-20 dollars. Please call Opahs to confirm. We decided it was worth the price.

    What time is happy hour?

I believe it's 4 pm to six pm. Not entirely sure. But you'll still have to pay $17 for a Smirnoff martini.

The warm rosemary focaccia with honey butter is delicious. Entrées: The 45-day aged rib eye was cooked perfectly for my coworkers (rare to medium rare) with great texture and seasoning. My crispy jidori chicken schnitzel with maitake mushrooms was outstanding. The most unique dish and my favorite. The braised napa lamb shank was underwhelming and needed more seasoning. I think the flank steak here is so well seasoned and perfectly cooked. For $60, it is a bit pricey, but you are honestly getting what you pay for! The biggest issue was how slowly the meats were being brought around to the tables. We spent a lot of time waiting, and because of that, we didn't get to try nearly as much as we normally would at a Brazilian steakhouse. We even requested a specific cut of meat, and it took about an hour before it finally came to our table. The service overall was inattentive. Our kids' lemonades were never refilled unless we flagged someone down, and throughout the meal we repeatedly had to get the servers' attention for basic requests. I also made our reservation through OpenTable and noted that we were celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment of the occasion at all, which was disappointing since I had taken the time to include it with the reservation. For the price Fogo de Chão charges, I expect attentive service and a steady flow of meats. Instead, we spent much of brunch waiting. We went with a family-style approach so we could try a bit of everything. To start, we ordered the bread service--definitely worth it. The bread was warm and soft, served with a tomato topping and two incredible butters: a rosemary butter with a subtle citrus note and a rich beef tallow. We shared the wedge salad, which was phenomenal--packed with flavor and even had a slight kick that really elevated it. For mains, several of us ordered the skirt steak, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My mother-in-law had the filet and loved it. We paired everything with two bottles of Daou Cabernet, which complemented the meal beautifully. The sides were just as memorable--we ordered two mac & cheeses (so good), a baked potato, honey-glazed carrots (a standout), and mushrooms. Everything was delicious and perfect for sharing. The ambiance and service really made the night. We sat outside under a pergola with beautiful lighting, which created such a cozy and special atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire evening feel seamless. Overall, Selanne Steak Tavern is absolutely worth the price for a special occasion. By the end of the night, all of us were already saying we couldn't wait to come back.

The food was excellent, and our waiter, Nigel, was friendly, attentive, and made our evening enjoyable. Unfortunately, our experience took a disappointing turn after we got home. Two days later, we reviewed our credit card statement and discovered that the restaurant had charged us an additional $690 that was not part of our bill. We immediately called the restaurant and were told that a manager would contact us the following day to resolve the issue. We never received that call, so my husband had to follow up himself. Even after explaining that the charge was clearly not ours, we were told we would have to wait while they determined whose bill it actually belonged to. The restaurant made the mistake, yet instead of reversing the incorrect charge immediately, they expected us to wait while they sorted out their own billing error. As a result, we had to put our credit card on hold and spend a large part of our afternoon on the phone trying to resolve an issue that should never have been our responsibility. It's unfortunate because our anniversary dinner was otherwise a great experience. However, the lack of urgency and poor customer service in handling such a significant billing error overshadowed the evening. Because of how this situation was handled, we will not be returning.
