Stopped in to give something new a try and this place hit the spot. While the inside is pretty small there is some decent seating inside and plenty outside. I didn't have any interaction with any service members on this trip. I got the blackened salmon and kale salad with rice plate. It was cooked to perfection. The fish was moist with a good mild flavor and not fishy at all! The sauce to go with it was delicious. Kale salad was pretty good as well. Not extremely powerful on flavor so if you're hoping for a flavor punch maybe not your thing but still good mild flavor overall. I would definitely come back and try another dish. read more

Food is decent. Customer service is always bad. Every person at the front is never helpful for the menu. I was told I couldn't have my salmon bowl assembled if I wanted the salmon breaded. So they wanted to serve everything separate and charge per item. It was weird and I won't be supporting this place anymore. Not sure why we've never thought of going here for Taco Tuesday. So happened to be in the area and we decided to try. $2.50 white fish tacos $4 shrimp or poke tacos $9 Baja Bowl (my fave!) Love their fish tacos but love the baja bowl more, it was filling and delicious. Cajun panko white fish, greens, rice, beans, pico, corn, and guac... perfect combination. Delicious. I found them on GrubHub and had a delivery. I got the blackened salmon sandwich w/fries. Absolutely perfect...I wasn't sure how the garlic bread would be for a fish sandwich, but it was the bomb! The sandwich had fresh lettuce and nice tomatoes on it and was really big and the portion of fish was good sized too! The fries were still fresh and crispy and only lightly salted which was great! We tried Spike's Fish House for the first time last week and wish we'd gone there sooner! My husband's Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna salad was out of this world, and my grilled salmon with brown rice and sauteed vegetables was very good. The portions were large and mine provided 2 meals. Sauces were wonderful. Price was Ok - it's what restaurant prices are these days. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that we would have liked to eat at the restaurant, but the AC was so cold inside we couldn't stay, so we got our dinner to go. read more

A true neighborhood gem. We went on a Tuesday night and it was super busy. Lots of people came by and picked up food. The restaurant is smallish, but a few tables inside and out. They turn quickly. We haven't been here in a while but since Fish District is now closed, we ended coming here. Ordered the red snapper with stir fried veggies and hubby had the salmon. Their red snapper is always good, especially when served piping hot. It is a tad fishy though. Every time. Salmon was good. They always give us a good portion of fries, so that was really nice. This place really surprised me. I have driven by Spike's hundreds of times but never stopped in - until today. I'm so glad that I did. I was greeted by a friendly team member who was patient as I looked through the options. I went for the California Poke Burrito - it was awesome (filled with tuna poke, crab meat and rice). The fries that came with it were cooked perfectly (hot and crunchy). We also tried the fish tacos, which were good, but the poke burrito was the star. I will be back for another soon. read more

We were in the mood for poke and I've been wanting to check this place out for a while based on their Yelp reviews. We ordered the regular size poke bowl with half ahi tuna and half salmon. For $16 you get about 51/2 ounces of protein, your choice of white or brown rice or greens or any combination of these, fresh avocado and an imitation crab mix and pickled ginger. Poke tasted fresh. The one minus is they did not offer any wasabi so I had to add the kick it needed by using siracha sauce. They do give you a sesame soy type sauce. Overall it was a nice light meal. read more

Nothing was right. I ordered their chowder.Their chowder was so watered down it may as well have been Clam Noodle sustenance, not chowder, much less even soup. This fast casual seafood restaurant has some expensive poke, but if you just got paid and don't mind dropping some $$ on some tasty fish, try them out! What's cool about Spike's is that they serve seafood in a lot of ways. Tacos, deep fried with fries, poke bowls, etc. I've only ordered poke bowls, but I would definitely try their other stuff. In the past couple of years, I've always gotten a large poke bowl with salmon and brown rice, and it came up to $16. I saw that it's now starting at $16, so it's definitely pricey. I've had smaller poke bowls that costed $19 (which is insane), so I think Spike's is worth it if you want to treat yourself once in a while. It seems like they prepare it fresh and cut the fish into chunky cubes, which is awesome! Fortunately there aren't a multitude of add-ins, just essentials like cucumber, avocado, and crab (most likely imitation). This kind of poke bowl has balanced textures without too much going on, and I get delicious fish in every bite. It's relatively filling, too. If I got a large and wasn't starving, I could have leftovers for the next day. Spike's is in a good location, right off of Alicia and Pacific Park, and there's plenty of parking. This plaza has a bunch of other restaurants and stores, with other markets and hilly walking trails nearby. read more

We got: Panko breaded white fish taco $2, blackened shrimp taco $3, salmon poke taco $3, mahi mahi grilled taco (not part of taco Tuesday), and rice and beans ($2 for a side of both, we got brown rice).
