Showed up to Tapas & Beer around 9pm on a Saturday night with some friends after a golf day. Note there isn't a ton open for a sit down meal past 9pm in RSM so this was one of the highly rated spots open which was great. My dirty martini was shaken ice cold which was perfection. I got the sliders with the slaw on the side (perfect choice) and a side salad. Didn't expect the salad to be all arugula which really isn't my favorite but it was okay just to get some greens in. The sliders were delicious and I was happy to have the slaw on the side which was good by itself. My friend got the tapas platter and mentioned it was tasty - definitely looked that way! The bartender was also our server and he made our drinks quickly and served us efficiently as well. He was even so kind to split the check for us in advance which we greatly appreciated. Inside has a lot of TVs perfect for World Cup viewing. Not a huge restaurant but a nice place for a date night or just to hang and watch sports with friends. read more

We love this spot! The food is amazing, no matter what you get. Even the salads are delicious and different. I thought I wouldn't like raisins in a salad, no, completely wrong! Bocaditos are out of this world, easily one of my favorite foods. Chicken empanadas, and pork croquettas are amazing. The vibe is casual and familiar, lots of locals, same faces, which I love. Service is incredible and friendly and personal. Tapas and Beer is a fabulous restaurant that feels like a great hang out. Great little place! Was checking out a doggie boarding place in the area and found this spot here on Yelp! Was looking for something dog friendly. They have a little patio that allows dogs. They have a couple TVs you can watch from out there too. My friend ordered a mojito mocktail and it was delicious. I had chicken flatbread, she had a crab cake. We both loved our food. The server/bartender was super sweet. Brought out a bowl of water for the dog and some treats too! We got there around 3:00pm. I think we were the only ones there but she said it gets pretty busy, especially with regulars. It's a cute little neighborhood restaurant/bar. I'll totally come back next time I'm in RSM. read more

The Manchego cheese brought a rich, nutty depth, while the jalapeño aioli gave it a creamy, spicy kick that wasn't overpowering. First time trying this neighborhood gem and we were greeted by the manager when we came in. Several craft beers on tap to choose on tap and a wonderful assortment of unique craft cocktails as well. I ordered the 1st martini on the menu, the La Villena. It was made of Prairie Organic Vodka, Elderflower Liquor, lemon, blackberry syrup and the manager made it herself. So heavenly and dangerously potent! I wanted another, but I was the DD that night. Hubby had the West Coast, Hazy, and Double IPAs since it was still happy hour feom 2-6pm. We paired our drinks with the Tapas Platter and house made Paella. So many flavor infusions like mango habanero in the dipping sauce and in the mango-jicama slaw and unique food compilations like the Croquetas de Puerco that were Carnitas Pork meatballs stuffed with Manchego cheese that bathed in a roasted tomato sauce. The Parlla was loaded with huge prawns, fresh fish, mussels, and Andouille sausage. It wasn't too runny or dry--It was perfectly prepared. It's hard to find really good paella prepared correctly in town and this, hands down was amazing! The manager was super sweet and kept coming by to ensure our water glasses were always full and everything tasted ok. Both entrees were generous portions. I have passed by this place many times but never went in. Tonight we decided to give it a shot and wow where we blown away. Super cute place tucked away in the rsm shopping center. We started with some drinks, I will say the cocktails are pretty small for the value but good. We got the mushroom appetizer and it was super Amazing, the dip that pairs with it they make in house it's a ranch dill and wow!!! Our meals were yummy and we switched to wine and beer which was good and affordable ! We will be telling our friends and back for sure as it was so great! Great service, great food, and yummy beer! Our 1st time was on a Friday afternoon during happy hour so they weren't too busy yet. We got to pick our seats and the bartender/server greeted us right away. He gave us recommendations for beer and food and was attentive the whole time we were there. They don't just have beers, other alcoholic drinks as well. Next time I have in mind to try the house sangria! For food, we ordered the tapas sampler that came with empanadas, croquetas, and bocaditos. The food came out quickly which for tapas is expected so that's awesome (I've been to places where they take way too long). Between the 2 of us, it was plenty of food. We came in hungry and left full! We were looking for something that wouldn't take too long but was tastier than fast food. Can't beat quality and this place nails it. Bartender was great and the food was great, but if you are a person under 30 this isn't the place for you. Was sitting at the bar drinking, watching my game, talking to the person next to me, this old guy (he fixed the clock they have on the wall while I was sitting there) said I was a probation officer for 30 years said to the person I was talking to everyone knows a tweeker when they see one. I asked him what drugs he thought I was on when I was sitting there enjoying my lunch and he said "it is what it is". The bartender still got a good tip from me despite being busy and the only person there. She did a great job. But whether this guy is a customer or not is not good for business to have at your bar he didn't even buy anything atleast while I was there. read more

I always wanted to try tapas and, so, we found this little neighborhood place. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are indeed in Spain. We noticed that, like Spain and many of our local neighborhood places, most people there seemed to know each other and/or the very warm staff. Everyone was socializing. This is one of the main ideas of the tapas place and other cafés and eateries in Europe. Even strangers meet and converse with other strangers. I ordered the paella for one, and my son, who was taking me out for my birthday, ordered the beef sliders and some spicy chicken wings. He's a connoisseur of the latter, and they definitely exceeded his expectations. They were a two napkin affair. LOL My paella was exquisite and was just like I remembered it in Spain. It was just the right amount for one person. I was even graciously given substitutes for the calamari. Like I said, the staff is very warm and friendly and accommodating as well. I tried one of the craft beers there, Golden, a pilsner, and it was also delicious and very smooth. So, I had to have two. Well, it was my birthday. I was also gifted with two delicious dessert churros accompanied by a huge, sweet, ruby red and delicious strawberry with chocolate and caramel sauces in which to dip them. I had been here waaay back in 2018 and I guess it didn't make a memory for me but that has changed! I tried it again last night and I'm super excited to bring my husband here! The atmosphere was really cool. Not so big that your server loses you and not so small that you can hear others' conversations. It's very chill and relaxing. The servers we had were set apart from the norm! Really informative, made suggestions, and joked with us. We were checked on but not bombarded. The food came out in a timely manner and hot. We ordered the sampler platter, which was Croquetas, Chicken Empanadas, and one other thing that had pork, but I can't remember the name. Soooo good! The beer is cold and tasty! Did a quick search for a good paella while heading through Orange County and found this. They had an individual and a share size. We did the latter on a Saturday at mid afternoon. It wasn't crowded. The server greeted us the moment we walked in. We sat outside on the patio in the perfect weather. My wife enjoyed a few sangrias and said they were excellent. The paella came within a few minutes. Service is always on point. The food is the main reason I came here! Burger & Fries is a legit good burger and you want to order the shoestring fries with their house made ranch. Love the Mahi Mahi with habanero sauce over wilted spinach and mashed potatoes! WOW!! I really wanted to like this place...when hubby suggested it for double-date night, I was excited that we didn't have to drive far from home for Spanish tapas. As other Yelpers have noted, it had more of a bar feel than a Spanish restaurant feel. It had a lot of TV's playing all sorts of channels. (I was sad the Olympics were on a smaller TV over the patio door but didn't care enough to inquire if we could get it playing on a bigger screen.) I think the fact that it had this different feel took away from the tapas experience. The ladies that assisted us were very nice and sweet. Service was NOT an issue, hence why I'm still giving this place three stars. What we didn't enjoy SO SO much was the food. The menu itself was like an easy version of "tapas". (LOL: "Quattro Queso" = mac and cheese) The four of us ended up sharing a few things. The seafood paella which came with giant chicken pieces on top. The rice is pre-made per the server (which to be fair, we'd asked about in advance) so don't expect "made in pan" paella. Taste was meh - seafood was well-cooked. Conch fritters and spicy fish were probably the best - fried foods ftw! Olives were good, too, but you'll want to watch your sodium level. Least favorite was perhaps the pan-fried calamari. I don't know how to describe it other than the calamari itself was "spongy" like it's been soaked in lye to break down the flesh. It was also anti-flavor - didn't taste like anything beyond the sauce that it was pan-fried in. As soon as your mouth swallowed the sauce, there was no flavor left. Drinks were nice and stiff. So maybe come for those and a basket of spicy fish. Guess we'll have to find tapas elsewhere. read more

Tapas and Beer is a gastropub hidden away in a small strip mall in RSM. They offer a tapas menu with Spanish inspired cuisine. On the Monday that I visited they were offering taco Tuesday specials (valid Mondays and Tuesdays). I ordered their sea food paella, tacos, and kobe sliders to share with my table mates. Kobe sliders ($14)- This dish came with 3 Kobe beef sliders. It was also accompanied with an order of fries so we opted for the sweet potato fries. The burgers seemed to be cooked closer to well done, and therefore weren't very juicy. I was disappointed in them, the fries were crispy and tasted pretty good though. Tacos (3 for $7)- I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 1 asada taco. The meats in each of the tacos were shredded and a little messy. Taste wise they didn't impress. At the price point they were being offered at I have much better tacos. Sea food paella ($20) - I ordered this dish minus the chorizo as I don't eat pork. There was a variety of sea food in this dish, however the flavor from the chicken was a little over powering and kind of ruined this dish for me. The portion size is good for sharing between 2 people. Churros (4 for $6 or 2 for $4) - A YELP check in got me 2 complimentary churros as well as a dark chocolate dipping sauce and a caramel sauce. My group really enjoyed these churros and the great tasting sauces. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I definitely prefer the churros that I had in Spain over these as those were more crispier and didn't have powdered sugar, but these were still VERY good and saved the food here from making the 2 star list. Service was very good when our server was available, however he was handling the whole restaurant and we didn't get as much attention as we should have. Overall most of the food missed the mark, except for the churros. If I did stop by again it would be for their mouth watering churros! read more
