Allergies and…read moreinfections can be misdiagnosed or ignored, with dire consequences and suffering if not treated early and accurately. I had a mystery pain that doctors could not figure out. Dr. Fast is smart and kind. She listened to my story for 5 min and was able to rapid-fire triage and provide a rare infection as a possible root cause. She proposed a simple test -- taking ibuprofen -- to confirm or rule out the infection. Imagine that -- instead of making me go get an elaborate, inconvenient, and time-consuming blood draw at a blood lab to confirm or rule out the cause, Dr. Fast gave me a free, self-administered test: take ibuprofen during a pain episode, if I don't have pain, it's the infection, if I still have pain, it might be something else. She is a genius with a big brain and a giant heart. For the Yelpers who didn't have the same experience, well, maybe they just don't understand competence and compassion when they experience it? I had to meet a lot of doctors in my mystery pain journey. Honestly, Dr. Fast is the best. She's a great communicator and one of those Harvard University/Yale Medical School/Stanford Medical School experts that could be talking on TV. In spite of the fact Dr. Fast could brag about going to Hahvahd, she keeps her impressive credentials to herself, is down-to-earth, is a great communicator with excellent bedside manner for all age groups and walks-of-life, including kids, seniors, young and middle-aged adults. Please google Dr. Katharine Fast and be blown away that the Internet agrees with me that she's the best allergy and immunology specialist in San Francisco and the Bay Area. You should book an appointment with Dr. Fast if you want an accurate, brilliant, approachable, and nice allergy and immunology expert on your side.

Plus she was funny - she kept things light hearted and amusing all along! I can tell that she cares about the human, which is relatively rare for specialists.

Finally Free From Allergy Meds After 30 Years -- Exceptional Care at SH Medical Allergy…read more At 60 years old, I've seen a lot of medical practices over the years, including some of the best, such as Stanford and the Cleveland Clinic. SH Medical Allergy is truly one of the best medical practices I've ever experienced. I actually chose this practice over UCSF, where I often receive care, because SH Medical offers accelerated allergy shots so patients can reach the benefits faster. For me, that approach has worked remarkably well. I had been taking allergy medications intensely since about 1995, including antihistamines and nasal steroids. Now, for the first time in decades, I'm able to get by without either--and I'm no longer dealing with sinus infections. It honestly feels like a huge liberation. Dr. Gupta is exceptionally warm and attentive to detail. She helped me recognize that I likely had an underlying sinus issue and referred me to a specialist, which I greatly appreciated. She was also incredibly compassionate and accommodating when she learned about the sudden death of my partner of 16 years. Her office staff is outstanding. During a penicillin challenge, two of her newer medical assistants, Rishabh Agarwal and Shivaang Vyas, were incredibly comforting and kept me company throughout the process. They patiently answered all of my questions, were very gentle when administering the shots, and even explained how they count breaths--something I was curious about for my own research and teaching. The Castro office itself is delightful. The staff decorate for every holiday, which makes the office feel warm and welcoming. It honestly makes me feel like I'm back in elementary school in the best possible way. Jessica and Rachel deserve special mention as well--they do a wonderful job decorating and also act as warm hosts of the office. The entire environment feels thoughtful, friendly, and genuinely caring. I would recommend SH Medical Allergy without hesitation to anyone looking for thoughtful, attentive allergy care in San Francisco.

1.5 years of OIT -- and it changed our daughter's life…read more Our journey with Latitude started when we discovered our daughter Riley had an egg allergy. After a failed egg muffin challenge and a difficult set of test results, we were scared and didn't know what to do next. That's when Tina and Michelle stepped in -- they introduced us to oral immunotherapy (OIT), walked us through exactly how the process works, and made us feel like this was actually possible. Committing to OIT for a year and a half is no small thing. Appointments every two weeks, plus remembering to give Riley her daily dose every single day -- it's a lot to keep up with on top of everything else life throws at you. But the team at the Van Ness location made every visit feel supported. Dr. Dhami was exceptional throughout -- knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in Riley's progress. The nurses -- Grace, Bella, and Kellen -- were consistently kind and encouraging. We truly couldn't have done this without them. It was an exhausting journey, but it was worth every appointment and every daily dose. After graduating from the program, the difference is night and day. We went from reading every single ingredient label in fear to simply feeding Riley without anxiety. Instead of being afraid of hidden egg in everything, we can now help her maintain her tolerance and eat freely. That freedom is something we didn't think was possible two years ago. If your child has a food allergy and you're wondering whether OIT is worth it -- the answer is yes, and Latitude is the place to do it. Thank you to the entire team for your guidance, patience, and care. You changed our family's life.

The environment is incredibly child-friendly, and as a result, she genuinely loves "going to the doctor," which says a lot. We were especially impressed with the office manager, Aaron. His responsiveness and willingness to help really stood out and made a stressful process much easier for our family.
