A Midwest staple! We love this brewery for its unique midwestern names of beer, the taste of the beer, and the overall vibe here! The workers are phenomenal, and also know how to point you in the right direction of what you want. They have live music every weekend seems like, and we can't get enough of it! Also in the corner, they have darts which we love playing, and games you can play at your table. They are dog friendly, and have water bowls for the pups by the "bubbler"! Ope! You haven't tried this brewery yet? What're you waiting for?! This place is a big open space with different seating areas from the bar, high top tables, couches, etc. The lighting is so unique and it's a great place to come with one other person, or hang out with a large group (I've done both on multiple occasions). Okay, enough about the venue, let's talk about the drinks. I've probably tried every sour and seltzer there is and haven't been disappointed once. You'll have a hard time picking which one to order because all of the names will make you giggle. I suggest getting a flight like a did the last time I was there because you'll definitely want to try multiple. They have the Chucho's Red Tacos truck everyday to make sure you have some substance and can consume more beer! (And if you haven't tried Chucho's yet, you're doing it wrong). Aside from that, you'll be able to catch a comedy show, enjoy different bands, and can participate in things like volleyball or disc golf. The best part though, DOG FRIENDLY!!!! Few things...we've taken to calling this place Ope Cheese due to the number of kids playing, laying on the floor and unattended. Not to mention the case of pink eye I'm pretty certain I got after being here (I was no where else the entire week but home) It's a shame the place is run amuck with kids and dogs because the drinks are good. 4.5 stars for the beer and 2.5 stars for some of the staff. This is not like me to complain about a brewery- I love small breweries, and I love local businesses, especially. The last two (maybe three) times we visited Ope, customer service in general has been lacking. This most recent visit on 7/8/23, we were greeted at the bar with not a "hello", but from our first server, he almost looked straight through our faces, and didn't say a word, almost as if he wasn't even "there".. didn't say a word, didn't acknowledge we were in front of him until I said "Hello" and then he said "What can I get ya.." Like, the most disinterested greeting one can offer. The second server, a woman at the rear register near the back garage door, walked up to me, and again, this time, just stared at me. No greeting. And when she took my money and gave me the beers, did not utter a word, or if she did, it was so quiet and short that I missed it. She Just set them in front of me and looked at me. I said "Thanks", and after the thanks, I still got nothing from her. I don't know if the owner is telling the staff to act aloof or if they're just miserable there, but there are way too many great breweries in the Milwaukee area, and your manager should be making sure you know the importance of taprooms being warm and inviting places. You cannot survive on your beer alone, and your staff were certainly NOT too busy to add a tiny bit of common customer service courtesy to the transaction. I also can't speak about this other incident, but I was told by someone that he went there one day, saw a person's dog pee on the carpet, and reported the urination to the bar. The bartender said "Oh I don't deal with that", and left the mess on the rug. Come on, if you're so proud of your dog friendliness, be ready for the challenges that come with it. Nobody wants to walk on pee stained rugs, and this is coming from a huge dog lover. I was bizarre. New brewery alert! Ope is not only spacious with plenty of seating and things to keep you busy, but they've got some amazing WI themed beers as well. I tried 6 sample pours and a can and loved all of them. They also have space for multiple food trucks which gives every changing option unlike places with a fixed menu. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more beers and new releases. read more

I really want to 5 star this place because it's very cool, great beer, great sellers and live music that you don't hear at every Milwaukee festival. To me, the only drawback is too many kids running around on a Friday and/or Saturday night. It would seem there should be a cutoff for children & pets.....say after 7:00 pm? That way adults without kids can go out, listen to live music & and actually enjoy it rather than dodging unwatched kids. I also feel really bad for all the dogs inside while they have live music. It's extremely loud and dogs already have such keen hearing. I leave my dogs at home in the evening when I'm going out to bars drinking. Again, just my opinion, but why not make all cultures/generations happy by comprising on an evening "no kids/no pets" policy in the evenings? Especially when there's live music. read more

I've been here twice. Both times it felt about 60 degrees and uncomfortable. I love the dogs and one of the reasons we picked this bar. There is a female bartender with a bull ring and short hair who went out of her way to be snotty. WTH. Not sure how that helps tips. Bar closed at 8:00, last call 7:30 and the bar was busy. I did a little tour, in the heart of West Allis. Ended up at Ope, because the other brewery we were going to visit wasn't opened as advertised. Glad I stopped in!! The beer was pretty good, but the sours and seltzers were exceptional!!! I normally can't stand sours (taste like puke and fruit), but these were nothing like the norm. The seltzers were even better. These are not your 100 calorie, diet, Bud Light seltzers. These have flavor and are a great alternative for those, "I don't drink craft beers" people (we all know them and are annoyed by them ). The new trend I see, not only here, but all over, is that dogs are allowed. Not only are they allowed, but they are promoted to be there. Hell, there was even a pig there!! I may catch flack for this, but I don't care. Now, I'm not some animal that doesn't like dogs, but I don't understand the obsession with having to bring your pet everywhere you go. Why not cats?? Why not ferrets?? I may be a little old school, but this is a little weird to me in several aspects. Alas, if you do go there, expect to be drinking with a plethora of dogs. First time I came here it smelled absolutely terrible inside from brewing but the beer selection was good and plenty of tables to sit and chat. Today I decided to try it again as a I knew they had a good number of tvs to watch game 4 of the finals (go heat). To my surprise, they were unable to change any of their TVs to the basketball game and instead could only play the brewers game. I give this place two stars because the beer and entertainment is good but with the number of quality breweries in Milwaukee I'd probably take my service elsewhere for better atmosphere and service. Stop by Ope every few weeks - a great addition to this West Allis neighborhood. The beers are great - I especially like the Peach Cobbler and Apple Cobbler beers. A flight is a good option to try a couple of different options from this newer brewery. I definitely think there was a need for a brewery in this location, and I'm happy to see it's always so busy! I'm looking forward to coming here for a show - it seems they have them often (events located on Facebook). Also looking forward to summer when they can open the garage doors a little. I visited on Saturday 6/11 for the first time. Unfortunately, half the space was reserved for an event. That made it quite crowded for an early Saturday afternoon. It also limited the area in which to order beer from. The layout of seating and variety was nice. There are high top tables, seating at the bar, and several groups of comfortable chairs. There isn't much to dampen the noise so it got pretty loud and was a little hard to have a conversation. The beer itself was okay. I didn't find one that I was absolutely in love with, but nothing was bad either. My favorite part was how dog friendly they are. Lots of furry friends inside was fun while visiting. read more

Great new spot added to the area! Very open feel with lots of spaces to socialize. They have bags (cornhole), darts, multiple garage doors that open, and a food truck outside. Ope continues to be my favorite brewery.. I am a player in their volleyball league, a frequent flyer at Tuesday's trivia nights, and often stop in just to utilize their tables for games. The only MINOR thing I've always wished they had more of is bar food like maybe nachos or fries or something, but even then they have pretzels and Carrie's krispies and snacks like that anyways. We were there on Saturday and it was FREEZING inside. Staff always seems irritated on being there. Very rarely do they smile or even say thanks. I feel like I'm bothering them. And Saturday wasn't the first time that has happened. Being dog friendly, they need to provide clean up stations (they already make you bus your own tables, so not that hard) . I stopped off at Ope! Brewing on Sunday, 5/29, it's opening weekend. I visit craft breweries as a hobby & saw that Ope! was new. The location was easy to find & parking in the back was plentiful. I noticed that the building has a large door in the back they opened to make the space open air. The space inside is quite large with a lot of comfortable seating. Dogs are welcome and were as plentiful as the parking. I was served quickly & had a flight of 4 for a reasonable price. The Wi-Fi was accessible by password and solid upon connection. Service by my bartender was very friendly and she was knowledgeable about the beer. I liked their lager and Kolsch very much in that the taste on my palate was very clean. UPDATE: MAY 2023: On a warm/hot day sit outside on their patio to avoid the crazy loudness of the interior. They need some table umbrellas or a shade structure on the patio, but it was very nice to sit outside to talk to friends. Bring very dark sunglasses if you don't like the bright sun shining in your eyes, or move your table and chairs into the shadow of the food truck like we did. Now they have DJ Fuzzy Logic spinning Yacht Rock inside and boy was he good! He actually played Elton John's disco hit that I know no one else knows, and when I asked him for Nina Hagen's cover of Beach Boys "Good Vibrations," he found it and played it! If they had vegan food, this place would now get 5 stars from me. 8/5/2022 three-star review: Good beer, new place, spiffy, nice decor except for the "man cave" area which had dead animals on the wall, never a fan of that. The rest of the place is clean and comfortable. All the garage doors were open, which made it breezy inside, so my hair-do suffered. That gets a thumbs-down from me, and the only other thing that was subpar were the loud kids screaming and yappy dogs barking in that high-pitched, eardrum shattering bark you never want to hear when you're out trying to enjoy new beers with your great friends. Other people in the place commented on the noise and kids running around in a bar, too, it wasn't just me. So I won't be going back, but if those things change, I would love to try again. Maybe in winter when the garage doors are closed, and maybe if they implement a no-kids rule. Dogs are usually ok, but when the dog owner doesn't do anything about their noisy, yappy dog... We visited yesterday for a Packer game and it was a great time! Enough room for our larger group to all sit together at a big high top table right by a TV. We chose this place because a friend mentioned it was kid friendly and we had a baby in the group and it worked out perfectly for them. Also great for dog lovers - dogs everywhere! They have a pretty extensive beer selection. We liked the Ermagherd! pastry stout. I was also looking for a Sour which they didn't have but the bartender suggested their Strawberry Lemonade seltzer which was great.
