Class was great was clear instructions and instructor to come help when needed. My husband was a trooper in coming with. He's not as flexible and way taller and bigger so he felt like the hammock was creaking when we was in it. I really enjoyed the beautiful, clean space. The helpfulness as a first timer. One way to flip ones perception is to take an aerial class. We spend much of our time right side up daily, so let's change that. Here is the rundown: you are supported by an aerial hammock that aids with alignment, spinal decompression, mood boosting, and core strength. I enjoyed all of the gravity defying movements even the inverted elbow to knee crunch. I am well versed in stylistic inversions/upside down postures, however, this is a whole new level unlocked. I overheard someone say that the fabric is stronger than any relationship, in case you were wondering. There will be some time spent on the floor (make sure to bring a mat) and in the beautiful pink suspended fabric. Open Aerial Yoga is located at the bottom level in a mixed-use luxury apartment building (with high end amenities such as a heated seasalt water pool) in Huntington Beach. Upon entering, leave your day at the door and be present. My first class I had a small headache after a few moves, which is why I brought my aromatherapy nasal stick to every class. Parking is strictly in the 1 hour retail parking area and not the guest parking area. The space was tidy and the restroom was clean. I have taken a plethora of classes. My two favorite instructors so far are Ashley and Tai; both also have a great playlist. No jewelry allowed while in hammocks. Overall, what a beautiful way to move your body and get a workout in. I am giving this rating for professionalism, cleanliness, and quality instruction! The studio does a great job of communicating what to expect, what to wear, and even where to park. Instructions and demos were fantastic and it was very helpful. They even took photos and sent them to us - super high quality effort and care here! Some things to note: I took the free intro class and I appreciate their desire to get aerial yoga to a wider population but it was a bit salesy. There was probably 5 minutes of class scheduled and styles before class started and then ended with maybe 5 minutes of promotions. They weren't pushy but it was a good chunk of time. Here's the biggest takeaway - Aerial yoga is NOT for you if you get nauseous or sea sick easily. I got a bit uncomfortable but was able to push through. My partner had to respectfully leave as the first Savasana in the silk dangling there already made him sick - and left him sick for 2 hours after. It's not the studio's fault - but just a note to everyone. Secondly - you do have to have some mobility already for this. It's tough flipping from your back to your stomach inside the silk - it's tough to pull your own weight up and down to leverage yourself. So if you have little strength or mobility - this should not be your method to go get it. There's plenty of other yoga and Pilates (not on silk and in the air) classes that i haven't tried so this is just a review for the intro class. I saw a post on Facebook for a 2 week unlimited classes so gave it a try. I had so much fun and enjoyed a different way to do yoga that I signed up for teacher training to learn more and potentially teach classes. I completed training and was able to instruct my friends and family. Some people have a few experiences where they feel dizzy as it may take time to get used to the blood rushing in your head. I went to a class this morning with Taylor and she was great! She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The studio was easy to locate, and there was a decent amount of parking in the back. Studio is a short skip and jump (no street crossing, just exit and enter) The class was extremely fun! I'm afraid of heights and was a bit nervous going in, but the hammocks were just right (and Taylor made sure if we needed adjustments that we felt comfortable asking). Instruction was CLEAR. And Taylor made sure to always tell us how to get down, before we even got up (which made me feel even better that I knew I wouldn't be trapped upside down) I will say I got nauseous on my own accord (I hung out inverted to long haha) and am sensitive to motion sickness. I probably coulda taken some motion sickness before inverting, BUT they did a great job of stabilizing if you needed it so you don't swing! They also never forced you to try something you weren't comfortable with. Definitely a great place to try out!!! They are incredible! read more

I visited Open Aerial for a girlfriend's birthday party. It was my first time doing aerial yoga. I got a little confused with the parking, but entered the garage and parked in the retail space. Once I exited the parking garage, I walked right up on this beautiful establishment. As soon as I entered, I was met by Taylor. She is welcoming, kind, fun, and has great energy! We were a rather large group, chatty, taking pictures, and just clowning around. Taylor was patient af as we giggled and sometimes talked a little mess, because our bodies were working against us. LOL. She took her time teaching us how to fight back and maneuver through the challenges. The establishment is clean, cozy and decorated very well. I used the restroom while I was there, and it was clean. I truly enjoyed my experience, and for the next few days afterwards, I was sore in body parts I didn't even know existed. I was invited by a friend to join her at Open Aerial. The studio, on the corner of Beach near Ellis/Main, is calming and clean. Parking is located in the adjacent garage. Although the instructor (Katrina) was great, I got dizzy with the light spinning and inversion that were incorporated in class. Keep in mind this is my own personal experience and may not affect everyone who wants to try aerial yoga. However, if you are sensitive to motion sickness, just be mindful of your boundaries and it's ok to take breaks which the instructor encourages. Overall, I'm glad I tried aerial yoga once to find out it's not for me. read more

Love Open Aerial! Great instructors and all other members are welcoming and helpful! There is parking in the garage in the retail spots. It is monitored by a security guard. Bring a mat and long sleeves as it can be chilly in the slower classes. They do have yoga mats on studio if you forget. No showers. I started with the two week unlimited intro package: Level 1: great introduction to aerial yoga and covers the basics. To progress to level 2 you need 10 classes, however if you are slightly athletic 2-3 would be fine. I workout 6 days a week and found myself ready for more of a challenge after a few classes. Low hammock zen + sound bath: with and without sound bath are great restorative yoga classes for ultimate relaxation. Level 2: this was my jam!! Increased challenge. The place is very nice and people are super friendly, my friend and I bought the end of the year pass for $99 and we did one class and doing the inversions made us both nauseous and dizzy for a few hours after. We both tried to get a refund on our $99 end of the year pass after the one class because it wasn't for us and my friend actually hurt her neck and was in pain for about two weeks and had to go get massages and the chiropractor, but unfortunately they would not refund our money... We both tried one more class with no inversions and it just wasn't worth the money for us, we didn't do the upside down inversions and I still had a low level of nausea for about an hour or two after the class. This is not a good yoga class if you have any injuries or back pain, please be aware of that. read more

Bought a deal for 2 weeks unlimited classes for $59. Figured would be a great way to check the place out as well as decide if I would make this a regular thing. 2 friends and I signed up and booked 2 classes together. Customer service 10/10 - Right from when we signed up, Taylor- owner at Open Aerial Yoga, sent welcome messages and information on classes and details, as well as reminders. Classes: Low hammock zen (level 1) Parking was full so we parked next door at the large shop pin center. Class was at 7pm and there was plenty of parking. Cute little studio tucked behind the restaurant that faces beach blvd. Very clean! Studio and bathroom was spotless A+! We found a class leaving and got to see the instructor interact with folks and take pictures of them after class. We had the same instructor- Grace, and I can say she knew her stuff! Very knowledgeable, interactive and willing to show and answer questions. Thank you Grace! Having never done aerial yoga before and doing level 1, I felt the class was challenging, but fun. Lots of stumbling but Grace made sure to explain then show how for all the visual learners (me, lol), while keeping the class moving at a good pace. We finished of the class and took lots of photos and asked about our next class (tonight- aerial sound bath) and she gave us insight into what we were in for. Overall I would say 9/10. This class would be perfect for someone who decides to make aerial yoga a lifestyle, but also for those of us who may not do it regularly but might indulge once in a while. Highly recommend. Good Luck! Update: Took the aerial sound bath today and all I can say is it was cold! They offer a neck pillow and blanket but even using the blanket I just lay there waiting for the hour to be over sadly. Class started at 7pm but we arrived a bit earlier at about 6.30 pm and the facilitator mentioned she would be turning off the AC. Despite that, it did not feel warm and cozy enough for the session. All 3 of us were in agreement on it being too cold so a suggestion to the business would be to not only turn of the AC early but make a point of warming up the room a bit so when we lay motionless in our hammocks with a complimentary blanket and the sound bath we can be lulled to sleep Overran score 6/10. read more

I purchased the deal they have to start up, 3 weeks, 21 days of unlimited classes, the sound bath & open aerial too!! Which is a phenomenal deal because one drop in class is $45 roughly & the 21 day unlimited is $79 I have scheduled my sound bath for Sunday & I'm was so excited to try the yoga too!! A few things I want to point is that they answer the phone every time you call & are always so nice in greeting you, I was greeted with a warm smile & hug when I came into the sound bath & that was really wonderful. Sound bath wasn't on my frequency, I felt it was so loud & ear piercing. Couldn't relax But my bf ended up falling asleep so there is both ends of a sound bath & the frequency. I went to a low hammock hammock next & the class was full,I was greeted at the entry and welcomed into the class, I was helped setting up & even had a little chit chat with the instructor, very nice, Over all the stretching was great & I would say aided in sleep that night. My one take away from this class was that we started late & ended on time .. which was kind of a let down seeing as we were the last class of the night & no one was waiting for class to end After this I still scheduled 3 more classes (2) sound baths with different facilitators to give this review a fair shot. Unfortunately, I was unable to make these classes because I was hospitalized & I was hoping to pause the next few session to use what I paid for. That didn't happen, all three of my future classes were canceled & no one reached out to check on me after that even though they said they would follow up to check better time & future classes. I have never experienced such a cool and unique way to do fitness and really build my upper body strength. The atmosphere is so calming & all the ladies were super sweet! The studio is in an amazing location--super convenient and with that relaxed beach-town vibe you can't beat. Pricing is definitely higher than what I was used to in Denver ($80/month vs. $199/month here), but for the quality of instruction, the positive atmosphere, and the structured curriculum, I think it's worth it--especially if it fits with your schedule and you're committed to learning. They offer two main membership tiers: * Mini - $99/month for 4 classes * Unlimited - $199/month for as many classes as you want If you're serious about making progress, the unlimited plan is where you'll get the most value. That said, I do think offering longer-term commitment discounts (like a 3-month or 6-month unlimited option at a lower monthly rate)would make the studio more financially accessible and encourage people to stick with it. Right now, everything is month-to-month. One thing I hope to see as the studio grows is the addition of weekday early morning classes--something around 5 or 6 a.m. would be perfect for early birds trying to fit aerial into a busy schedule.
