Stretching it all out! Wonderful class!
    Laina P.

I visited Open Aerial for a girlfriend's birthday party. It was my first time doing aerial yoga. I got a little confused with the parking, but entered the garage and parked in the retail space. Once I exited the parking garage, I walked right up on this beautiful establishment. As soon as I entered, I was met by Taylor. She is welcoming, kind, fun, and has great energy! We were a rather large group, chatty, taking pictures, and just clowning around. Taylor was patient af as we giggled and sometimes talked a little mess, because our bodies were working against us. LOL. She took her time teaching us how to fight back and maneuver through the challenges. The establishment is clean, cozy and decorated very well. I used the restroom while I was there, and it was clean. I truly enjoyed my experience, and for the next few days afterwards, I was sore in body parts I didn't even know existed. That is how I know the stretches and class was amazing! Can't wait to return.

Bought a deal for 2 weeks unlimited classes for $59. Figured would be a great way to check the place out as well as decide if I would make this a regular thing. 2 friends and I signed up and booked 2 classes together. Customer service 10/10 - Right from when we signed up, Taylor- owner at Open Aerial Yoga, sent welcome messages and information on classes and details, as well as reminders. Classes: Low hammock zen (level 1) Parking was full so we parked next door at the large shop pin center. Class was at 7pm and there was plenty of parking. Cute little studio tucked behind the restaurant that faces beach blvd. Very clean! Studio and bathroom was spotless A+! We found a class leaving and got to see the instructor interact with folks and take pictures of them after class. We had the same instructor- Grace, and I can say she knew her stuff! Very knowledgeable, interactive and willing to show and answer questions. Thank you Grace! Having never done aerial yoga before and doing level 1, I felt the class was challenging, but fun. Lots of stumbling but Grace made sure to explain then show how for all the visual learners (me, lol), while keeping the class moving at a good pace. We finished of the class and took lots of photos and asked about our next class (tonight- aerial sound bath) and she gave us insight into what we were in for. Overall I would say 9/10. This class would be perfect for someone who decides to make aerial yoga a lifestyle, but also for those of us who may not do it regularly but might indulge once in a while. Highly recommend. Good Luck! Update: Took the aerial sound bath today and all I can say is it was cold! They offer a neck pillow and blanket but even using the blanket I just lay there waiting for the hour to be over sadly. Class started at 7pm but we arrived a bit earlier at about 6.30 pm and the facilitator mentioned she would be turning off the AC. Despite that, it did not feel warm and cozy enough for the session. All 3 of us were in agreement on it being too cold so a suggestion to the business would be to not only turn of the AC early but make a point of warming up the room a bit so when we lay motionless in our hammocks with a complimentary blanket and the sound bath we can be lulled to sleep Overran score 6/10.

The movements may look simple, but you really feel every muscle working and it gives such a great full-body workout. I also love that the class is welcoming for all levels, even beginners. Liza does a great job guiding everyone through the workout while still keeping the energy high and motivating. The heated room adds an extra challenge, but somehow you leave feeling refreshed, stronger, and accomplished afterward. Her classes always have a good balance of warm-up, strengthening exercises, and stretching at the end, so you walk out feeling like you truly worked your whole body. If you want a low-impact workout that still makes you sweat and feel amazing after, I highly recommend taking her class. I also really enjoy classes with Frank S. and LaVerne -- all of them bring great energy and make the workouts enjoyable while still pushing you to do your best. Purple Yoga blends yoga and recovery in a way that feels effortlessly elevated. First Impression: Purple Yoga is tucked away in a cute, lil' strip mall with a pathway leading to the entrance. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Hope, who guided us through sign-in, photos, and a full tour of the facility (super friendly first impression). The Space: Spacious front foyer with visibility into the yoga room; a hallway featuring a compression therapy room, private yoga room, full-body red-light therapy room; a cold plunge and sauna area; a water station; and bathrooms. The Class (All-Level Flow, 100 degrees): Alex Roberts opened class with breath awareness and gentle head, neck, and shoulder mobility in silence, creating a calm, grounded tone right away. His cueing was clear, alignment-focused, and very intentional. Once movement began, the music stayed in the background, so the emphasis remained on breath, alignment, and slow/deliberate transitions. The class concluded with deeply soothing floor stretches, including supta baddha konasana combined with a gentle self-massage at the base of the skull, releasing neck tension (beautiful nervous system reset). Savasana was spacious and unhurried, with encouragement to remain resting as long as needed, emphasizing relaxation as a meaningful part of practice. Recovery & Wellness Amenities: After class, my sister and I engaged in several wellness offerings: Sauna session: Private, peaceful, and timed with a sand hourglass (so cute). Compression therapy: You can choose compression gear for your legs, hips, or arms, and there's enough space for two people to relax and enjoy it together. Red-light therapy: It's a full-body standing system, just grab the protective eyewear, turn on the fan, and step in so the red light does its thing. From what I read, it's believed to support cellular energy production, tissue repair, skin vitality, reduced inflammation, muscle and joint comfort, and overall recovery (Bring It!). Practical Notes: Easy online booking for yoga and wellness sessions, free parking directly outside, advanced purified water station (yaaaaaaas!), spacious showers and lockers (making it easy to transition from session to session) & an abundance of complimentary personal-care items. The Vibe: Modern, calm, & quietly luxurious. Purple Yoga feels like a boutique yoga studio meets a recovery spa. Incredibly fun to explore solo or go with a friend and reset together! Curiouser & Curiouser: On a personal note, someone who LOVES a fast-paced flow, breath focus was necessary for me to get into this class. My sister, who loves Bikram (standing poses), loved this slow flow and tapped in quickly.

Class description and actual class did not feel quite the same. I usually always sweat moving in a hot yoga class... not one droplet - not sure if the thermostat wasnt working but it did not feel hot. The instructor was nice but felt very new. Demos were lackluster, cues empty, and lacked a flow. There were 4 of us in class and somehow i might have gotten one interaction. I left feeling maybe a stretch at best.

But parking can be a major hassle. The classes itself are fantastic - do note that most classes are heated; albeit, to varying degrees - from 70/75 for vinyasa flow 1 to 105-110 for Hot Ra. Each instructor has their own style, and seems to be have creative freedom to direct their own flow (which some chain studios might not). My favorites are: - Yogalates with Yamilette - love that she has great music in line with the flow and works both upper and lower body - Hot Ra with Mike - really like his challenging balancing poses, along with choice of chill Hozier While this studio is priced lower than Corepower, I noticed that the classes here are always fully booked and you are very close to your neighbors. Another major con is the parking! At peak class times (weekday evenings), all the designated Ra spots are full, and the open spots remaining belong to the businesses nearby which threaten to tow, making getting to class very stressful. I try to avoid classes at 5-6PM because of this.

I started with one class, then two, then three per week. Now I am on the unlimited plan and go as often as I can. The coaches: HBP only hires the best of the best. I've taken classes with Jillian (the owner, tough and brilliant), Madison (strong dance background, limitless energy, very kind), Lisa (all about precise technique, no nonsense), Peggy (strong yoga background, fun boot camp activities ), Imani (pro dancer, super chill but not easy, very cool music), Patrick (Marines style tough!!!), Dan (very detailed and helpful), and Sara (the most positive person in the world, great for beginners or advanced athletes). The facilities: All city owned venues. Murdy and Edison Community Centers- virtually identical, nice rooms Senior Center in Central- sparkling new facility, they have gear ready to use, super convenient City Gym - very cool old building, well maintained with hardwood floors, and showers!!! Edison is closest to my house, but the senior center is my favorite. You must be 55+ to use the gym, but group fitness rooms are open to all The vibe: All are welcome. This is a big deal for me and why I am a customer for life. All shapes and sizes, people with chronic pain, muscular, thin, plus size, young, old, it really doesn't matter... EVERYONE is welcome. They will customize your workout experience even in large classes. The coaches will make sure you are OK. If you have an injury, you will get modified instructions tailored to your needs. The other clients are very cool. Mellow, happy, joking, one big family. The coaches care about you and want you to reach your goals. The price: You get back so much more than you give. Also, you will not find more inexpensive classes at other local studios. Think Pilates is only for rich people? Not at HBP. The largest investment is your time. It's worth it. My recommendation: Sign up today. Start with Mat Pilates. When you are feeling stronger, try Lean & Fit and Barre. Take yoga if you need to manage stress (I do!) but know that all of the above classes help to reduce stress. You cannot go wrong with HBP! Thank you Jillian for all that you do for your clients!
