They let you take photos too! I preferred the hammock because the hoop kind of hurts with no padding

This review is for the Aerial Level 1 - Multi Apparatus through classpass. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really enjoyed this class! It's meant for people of all levels. It was doable even for beginners like me who has always wanted to try an aerial class.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We learned moves on the hammock and the hoop. Only thing I'd say is I expected there would have been more hammocks and hoops, but there were only three of each, meaning a class of six had two people sharing an apparatus. We were still all able to participate in the class though.

Bigger studio for Pole with such cool lighting!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love this studio! The new owner, Kelela, is fantastic and has a wonderful staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love taking new classes as they're added.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nina and Mirza are two of my favorite pole class teachers and everyone makes these new skills so accessible to beginners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm starting to work on my lyra skills and even though my hands are so sore after class, its the best feeling![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The lights and special touches definitely add to the ambiance and make for a very unique space to learn and move.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]My instructor Anessa was the SWEETEST and very patient with me![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was my first time and [[HIGHLIGHT]]she consistently offered help and suggestions in a kind manner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She made everyone feel confident in themselves and their abilities[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and overall I learned so much in one class! I wouldn't expect to be a pro right away LOL it's surprisingly harder than you think but I think she made it seem more achievable and fun!

Stopped by here for open gym on a weekend and it was a lovely experience! I will just say if you're new to this studio (that is, you didn't attend the previous studio that existed here and are already familiar with the space) it can be a little hard to find. You want to enter the door to the right of the salon on the first floor. At the end of the hall there's an elevator to the left and stairs to the right; take one to the second floor and the studio is directly down the hall. They don't seem to have any signage yet but hopefully they will soon. The space itself is really nice. There's actually a lobby area and two studios: one with poles mounted and one with aerial silks. There's also refreshments and a small retail area. I'll only review the pole space for now but hopefully I can come back to try a class here with an instructor. The space has everything you need for a good open gym session including a sound hookup so you can listen to music and crash pads. The poles are x-poles: easy to use and clean. Will definitely be back for open gym now that I know where to find it!

With a range of levels from…read moreintroductory basics to advanced, and many styles and instructors to choose from, you will find a teacher for you. As with any group class, give yourself some space to try a few different teachers until you find the one(s) you enjoy the most! The owner, Shawn, and desk staff are friendly and helpful; always happy to answer questions about levels, styles, and instructors. My go to is Arianna Hyatt. She teaches well rounded true to level classes (read the class description and know thyself). She motivates and encourages dancers to meet their goals, whether that is fun, fitness, training for an audition, getting back to dance after a hiatus, or perhaps all of the above. She provides a supportive environment while offering technique, structure, and a little challenge - if that is what you're after. The community she's cultivated within every class is palpable. If you're a beginning/intermediate or advanced level dancer, looking for ballet, broadway, or tap, definitely check the schedule for her. (Double check the level as she teaches a variety.) If you're on the fence, I'd say find any class that interests you at the studio and give it a try!

She was not welcoming, was late to the class, and did not give me the chance to even try tapping before she completely ignored me for the entire class session. Long story long: I've had dance training with Broadway choreographers and performers (just not in tap), and never would they be so unprofessional and rude to a newer dancer. This was my first time trying Afterhours, I had gone with a friend (with prior tap experience and classes taken at this studio) and we booked two classes, back to back. Beg/int Broadway Jazz class straight into beg/int tap. Arianna, who instructed both classes this night, arrived late and complained about the studio space we were in. Yikes. Not a great first impression as a new dancer at this studio. After this class, I put my tap shoes on and my friend quickly walked me through some basics of tap. Just with a side-eye from the corner of the room, she came up to me and said "this is not the space for you, I will go get you your money back before you take this class. I will let you stay, but this is not the class for you." Understandable, but after SO GRACIOUSLY!!!! allowing me be in the room with only 5 other dancers, she ignored me the entire class, despite me catching onto and being able to pick up what she was teaching. She had condescendingly recommended another instructor at the studio, but with a tone as if the instructor was subordinate to her. The most frustrating part was that she was very slowly and deliberately helping another dancer in the room, who was also a beginner. It was rude to me and not conducive to a welcoming environment for growing artistry, whether I was refunded or not. I spoke with Shawn after the class and she mentioned knowing that Arianna is short with her words and they had a similar situation with another dancer last week. If you knew this hostile behavior is happening at your studio, how could you let that continue? She also gave an excuse of a disclaimer being on the description of the class. 1) it was hard to find 2) even if someone has/hasn't "mastered" a certain level of dance, why are you fully shutting someone out of your learning space? It is apparent in the class attendance the success, or lack of, rather, at this studio. I truly hope that no other dancer experiences what I did at Afterhours, and that this behavior from any instructor is corrected. I was given my money back and a free pass for another class at the studio, but I honestly do not trust either of those ladies that I dealt with at the establishment to recommend me any other class there.

This is my daughter's second season at West Coast. We are so incredibly glad we made the switch…read more The environment is so welcoming. Which is difficult to find in competitive dance. The families welcomed us in with open arms, the dancers support each other and the teachers support each other. I believe this starts from the top down with the ownership and management. Paula is extremely hands on with the teachers, students and families. And it shows. She doesn't care just about their dancing but cares about their character as an individual. The quality of the teaching staff is exceptional; with the primary focus on technique. But they continue to grow and expand their teaching and choreography styles. They treat the kids as the individuals they are and unify them as a team as well. In the current COVID-19 environment everything has been moved online. The entire staff has been energetic and motivating. They have provided a sense of stability in an unstable environment for our kids. Every week the teachers take time with each kid just to check in and see how they are doing. If you want a positive, creative and safe environment for your child to experience dance than I would recommend West Coast.

The dancers support and encourage each other and the parents are kind and helpful. These are competitive dancers who strive for excellence but never at the cost of character or class. The tone is set from the leadership of Miss Paula who runs the studio like a in impressive CEO that can also wear the hat of mentor, artist, and friend. I am constantly blown away by the talent and reach of the staff who is well rounded on style, technique, and has a proven track record of developing dancers to the highest levels. They take an interest in the dancers personally and have created a community our whole family enjoys being a part of. They way that the business pivoted during the Covid-19 shutdown is remarkable! They quickly acclimated to virtual while keeping the positive attitude and commitment to excellence we've come to expect from them. When we first started at WC I would not have imagined that dance would become such a high value for us, but because of our West Coast experience it is something we eagerly remain connected to and proud to be a part of! I could go on and on about the costumes, the wins, the opportunities, the conditioning that keeps the dancers safe, the communication, etc...Even my sons have taken classes and loved it! I would give them 100 stars if I could!

Unfortunately I felt the need to write this review. I signed…read moreup for and attended a heels class here as an experienced dancer returning to dance after a hiatus. First of all, this studio is EXTREMELY hard to find. Obviously it is listed as "Groove Dance Fitness" online, however when I followed my navigation's instructions to the parking lot, I could not find any signage that advertised this business. I circled the block 3 times before parking somewhere random to pull up the website. I scoured the website to see if there was any specific instruction on where to find the studio to no avail. So, I figured I would call the number on Yelp. Once I opened Yelp, it stated that the studio was only open from 6pm to 8pm... I was signed up for a class that STARTED at 8pm. Confused, I called the phone number listed. After ringing for several minutes, it went to a voicemail that only stated a person's name as the outgoing message, nothing about it being associated with Groove Dance Fitness. Feeling defeated, I searched through the photos on Yelp and deduced that the studio was in a certain parking lot I had passed multiple times. I parked and watched someone walk into a door which was labeled under a different fitness studio name, but she was carrying a Burju bag, so I figured I would try it. Upon approaching the door, I saw in very small font to the left of the entrance "Groove Dance Fitness". I knew I was a couple minutes late when walking in due to the confusion of actually locating the studio. However, nobody greeted me. I joined the warm up on the floor which consisted of less than 10 minutes of stagnant stretching and a 60 second plank. Feeling zero percent warmed up, we were then asked to put on our knee pads and heels. I will say that the combination was fun, but I had some aches and pains since my muscles were effectively still cold. Towards the end of the class, the teacher paired us up as "watching buddies" to "amp each other up" during our run of the combination. My buddy did and said nothing as I danced. I decided to leave at 9pm since the class was listed as an hour and I do believe leaving a class early to be bad studio etiquette. This was also the time people were taking out their phones to record and I did not feel like being filmed. The cherry on top was that a fellow classmate saw me leaving and asked why I was leaving already. I just mentioned I have work in the morning. She then went on to ask if I have any dance experience, what my background is, and "who I train with". I stated that I've been dancing my whole life, but had to take a break due to personal reasons. I don't train with anyone as I am just getting back in the game. She then suggested to I try out a different studio that is more "beginner friendly". I politely smiled and took my leave. But not before the instructor noticed me, I told her "thank you for the class" and slipped out. Safe to say, I will not be returning. Personally, I did not feel welcomed at this studio. Hopefully, other people have a better experience than I did.
