I've taken several Hot Sculpt classes with Liza C. and I honestly always look forward to her…read moresessions. Her class is definitely challenging, but in the best way possible. The movements may look simple, but you really feel every muscle working and it gives such a great full-body workout. I also love that the class is welcoming for all levels, even beginners. Liza does a great job guiding everyone through the workout while still keeping the energy high and motivating. The heated room adds an extra challenge, but somehow you leave feeling refreshed, stronger, and accomplished afterward. Her classes always have a good balance of warm-up, strengthening exercises, and stretching at the end, so you walk out feeling like you truly worked your whole body. If you want a low-impact workout that still makes you sweat and feel amazing after, I highly recommend taking her class. I also really enjoy classes with Frank S. and LaVerne -- all of them bring great energy and make the workouts enjoyable while still pushing you to do your best. If you want a low-impact workout that still makes you sweat and feel amazing after, I highly recommend taking their classes.

The transitions from one exercise to the next flowed seamlessly, making the entire class feel intentional and well-paced. I especially appreciated that we weren't kept on one side for too long. We did no more than three exercises before transitioning, which kept the class engaging while still allowing us to feel each movement. Erin's attention to detail, clear cueing, and thoughtful sequencing made for an exceptional workout. I can't wait to take another class with her!

The studio…read moreis always clean and welcoming, and I really appreciate that they offer a wide variety of class times. I usually attend during the week around noon, which I absolutely love--it's not as busy as the morning or evening classes, so it feels more intimate and allows me to really focus and learn. My instructor has been amazing. She takes her time to make sure I'm doing each pose correctly and always offers modifications when needed, which I truly appreciate as someone still learning. Even in just 9 days, I already feel a difference--my body feels less tense, and I'm sleeping so much better. I'm excited to continue my practice here and see how much more I can grow.

The Vibe: How Tribes Form I walked in about twenty minutes…read moreearly. Zach greeted me with a smile that never really seemed to leave his face. He pointed out where to leave my things. Then explained the format. "Think 26/2...with Sun Salutations up front. Not a lot of cueing. The music carries the class." Easy. We started talking. He laughed about coming to his first yoga class "kicking and screaming." One of my favorite yoga stories. Someone who never thought yoga was for them... now gets to welcome others in. Then I noticed something down the hall. A handful of men. Talking. Connecting. Just...being there together. Then more students arrived. One after another. Zach greeted each one... by name... with that same smile. Maybe that's how tribes form. The Guide: Zach Woods - Hot Yoga, Heats & Beats I usually gravitate toward fast-moving heated vinyasa. This wasn't that. And... I loved it. The lack of cueing became part of the experience. Instead of chasing instructions... I could hear my breath. Feel my body. Listen to the music. Halfway through class, Zach walked the room. Made eye contact. Smiled. Checked in. Then back to the music. Back to practice. The Nineties Were in the Room: Counting Crows. The Cranberries. Sarah McLachlan. Alanis Morissette. Song after song... I looked around and smiled. Generation X... Still showing up. Still moving. We grew up on mixtapes. Now we move to playlists. The Tribe: Just before savasana... Zach introduced me. "A new member of our tribe." The entire room turned. Smiled. Waved. Just like that... I belonged. Then he wished another student safe travels. The whole room echoed it. I'm guessing this is what brings people back. Space & Place: Open cubbies Clean & bright Women's/Men's Showers & Changing Space Spacious Hot Yoga Room. Summer Challenge Board Sum-Up: I came expecting a music-driven hot yoga class. I left feeling like I belonged. Yoga Field Note: Maitrī (friendliness) isn't always taught. Sometimes it's simply practiced.

Did a free week at Yoga Tribe in January. The staff was very friendly and made an effort to learn…read moreour names. They offered free towels and gave us a tour along with a rundown of the classes. The studio feels very community based with a lot of regulars who clearly know each other. Classes get pretty hot and everyone uses a yoga towel (pretty much required by the studio; I never need to and I dislike standing on a towel). The hot yoga flow is fast and challenging, but the movements are the same each class, so I think I would eventually get bored. They do a good job in incorporating breathing exercises though. But I also wish I could enjoy savasana more at the end. I like that the space is very clean and well taken care of. Shoes are not allowed when you enter the studio, and no shoes in the bathroom either. However, there is NO WATER (refill station or water fountain) available at the studio, which was kind of crazy. I don't think I've ever been to a studio that doesn't have free water.

I have been a client of HBP for almost two years. What started as a random class through HB Parks…read moreand Recreation has turned into a complete lifestyle makeover. I started with one class, then two, then three per week. Now I am on the unlimited plan and go as often as I can. The coaches: HBP only hires the best of the best. I've taken classes with Jillian (the owner, tough and brilliant), Madison (strong dance background, limitless energy, very kind), Lisa (all about precise technique, no nonsense), Peggy (strong yoga background, fun boot camp activities ), Imani (pro dancer, super chill but not easy, very cool music), Patrick (Marines style tough!!!), Dan (very detailed and helpful), and Sara (the most positive person in the world, great for beginners or advanced athletes). The facilities: All city owned venues. Murdy and Edison Community Centers- virtually identical, nice rooms Senior Center in Central- sparkling new facility, they have gear ready to use, super convenient City Gym - very cool old building, well maintained with hardwood floors, and showers!!! Edison is closest to my house, but the senior center is my favorite. You must be 55+ to use the gym, but group fitness rooms are open to all The vibe: All are welcome. This is a big deal for me and why I am a customer for life. All shapes and sizes, people with chronic pain, muscular, thin, plus size, young, old, it really doesn't matter... EVERYONE is welcome. They will customize your workout experience even in large classes. The coaches will make sure you are OK. If you have an injury, you will get modified instructions tailored to your needs. The other clients are very cool. Mellow, happy, joking, one big family. The coaches care about you and want you to reach your goals. The price: You get back so much more than you give. Also, you will not find more inexpensive classes at other local studios. Think Pilates is only for rich people? Not at HBP. The largest investment is your time. It's worth it. My recommendation: Sign up today. Start with Mat Pilates. When you are feeling stronger, try Lean & Fit and Barre. Take yoga if you need to manage stress (I do!) but know that all of the above classes help to reduce stress. You cannot go wrong with HBP! Thank you Jillian for all that you do for your clients!
