The owners bio made me think that this was a stand up place with integrity and values. I emailed for weeks trying to setup an appointment with any therapist- occupational, speech, adaptive physical education etc. The owner kept giving me the run around- I genuinely thought he was working hard to help me find resources. Then, a school nurse appears to assess my son- from this company! Turns out she didn't even know how to conduct a nurse assesment, didn't know how to write a proper report, and had very little professional knowledge, nevermind integrity. I now realize this is one of those exploitive therapy clinics that's not actually interested in ethically treating special needs children. So disappointing given the needs that exist and the potential this place had. Would not trust this center with any kind of evaluations or treatments. Beware. Also everyone should know that you can file a UCP complaint against this company or any employees of it that you work with who engage in unethical practices. You might think since it's a private company you can't do that, but they are given public taxpayer funds to operate and therefore are subject to the same procedures as if a direct employee of the school. Feel free to reach out if you are unfamiliar on how to file a complaint. Parents must keep charters and those working with special needs accountable.

This is definitely one of the memories I will never forget. Even though our clinical days were only on weekends, I learned so much from everyone. I'm very thankful to be part of student in The Nurse Academy and to have had this opportunity. There is one area where they do not meet the basic standard of care and that Is their heating and air conditioners. When she got their everyone would freeze as the heat did not work. Now it is warmer and their air conditioning system does not work. They brought in portable units for the hallways so the staff is somewhat comfortable but patient rooms are over 90 degrees well into the night. They said they replaced the chiller last week and it was cooler but after 2 days it is not working again. Patient care needs to be a priority. They must do whatever it takes to get it fixed. Bring in more portable AC units. It took over a week to put in the portable units. I will revisit this review if they ever fix it. 90 degrees in a patient room until after 11pm and it is not even spring or summes.

We find them through an approved list from our insurance carrier, Kaiser. The office is clean, & check in process was some of the smoothest I have ever experienced. No shoes are allowed once you cross out of the waiting room. The front desk ladies are friendly & really got to know my son in such a short amount of time. They always knew he wanted to show them whatever toy he brought for the day & there was always a sticker he enjoyed getting they'd let him pick out. Payments were automatic and I never had any issues there. Within one session with both ladies, we were able to get him using words we knew he had in there-they just helped him bring them to life. My son & I were both bummed when we ended services due to him starting preschool & getting the services while there. Emily really grew on him. He would absolutely light up seeing both ladies. My son, his attitude, behavior, and speech all elevated by coming to Milestone. The absolute patience the staff has is incredible. My son had a couple sessions of occupational therapy and we absolutely loved our therapist as well. I felt included in each of his sessions with all the ladies & there was something we worked on each week to improve the next. My son went from saying a handful of words to now speaking sentences. We game together and he fully understands that we need to take turns. Started off as a super worried mama, and left confident that we would be more than okay. I waited about 3 weeks for the clinic to contact me after our pediatrician put in a referral to see PT for my childs torticolis. When I did not hear back I called the office, the first lady said she could not find any referrals then I spoke to a second person that said the paper work sent over was incorrect. I told her since this is a time sensitive issue to go ahead and put me in as a private pay so at least we can start the evaluation and make future appts if needed. Made an appt for an evaluation, only to be called by another personnel to cancel the appt because they are not able to figure out if they are contracted with my insurance. I told them I would still want to come in for the evaluation since its already been over a month and I would pay as private pay until insurance is sorted out. I ended up seeing Miss Paige and Miss Hannah. Both are great PTs and did help improving omy childs torticolis. I ended up using 6 or 7 appointments, 3 months had passed and each time they wanted to cancel my appt because they couldnt figure out insurance coverage. Long story short I finally had to email all the claims and what my insurance had cover and my copays that I had paid for them to finally realize what was happening. Insurance companies suck I get it. I deal with them on a daily basis at my job. But not having trained personnel to deal with the insurance complexities is not acceptable in the health care industry.

It is a small private practice, so the therapy sessions feel more personalized. I have been worked on by Angela and Sidi and they are both great! You can tell that they truly care about their patients and progress. Also, the "sandbox" machine is so neat! It feels like your arm is floating in outer space, but it's warm too, so very therapeutic. They also use hot packs, ultrasound, kinesio tape, paraffin wax, foam rolls, etc etc. The custom splinting is really cool too! It seems like they take a lot of types of insurance, and they also sell a lot of products that help with your recovery. I would definitely recommend SoCal Hand Therapy for anyone with an upper extremity injury. They are THE BEST!

Very disappointed with Dr. Andrew Pennock and Emily. We…read morebrought our 13-year-old son in for an MRI consultation after his knee injury today. The website claims patients receive detailed explanations of MRI findings so families can seek the right treatment. That did not happen. Emily seemed to have little knowledge of the actual injury beyond mentioning compression. She asked us what the issue was and simply relayed information to the doctor. She was not friendly and had no answers to our questions or concerns. We told both her and the doctor that this has been an emotional and traumatic experience for our son and our whole family. When Dr. Pennock came in, he did a few tests and claimed the knee was swollen with fluid. Our son's leg never swelled after the first day. A nurse practitioner who reviewed the MRI had already told us it was a small ACL tear with meniscus damage, and that there was no ongoing swelling or fluid. Dr. Pennock, relying on the information from Emily right in front of us, said it was a full tear with no meniscus damage. No images or detailed findings were shared during the visit. The only option offered was surgery. There was no real discussion of alternatives until we asked, at which point he said he would pass us on to a colleague for casting. What was most troubling was his demeanor and the statements made during the visit. In front of our family--including our 8-year-old and 14-year-old--he told our son he should "hang up the cleats and find something else." He mentioned that his own brother had done that and said it was an option. He then told our son that he would never be less than 150 lbs. Our son started to cry and was clearly bothered by the comments. After we explained again how traumatic this has been, there was still no compassion shown. He offered to give a note saying our son's leg injury couldn't play the rest of the season, saying that could help us get money back. Our goal has always been to deal with the injury, the emotions, and rehabilitation--not the money. We left feeling unheard, unsupported, and without the clear explanations or care we expected for our child. It doesn't always matter about credentials but the humanity that comes with it! We have an injured child and not just another paycheck. This required some ethics training!

The staff did an excellent job managing my medications, assisting with my recovery, and making sure my needs were met every day. They even arranged vegetarian meals for me, which I truly appreciated. Whenever I needed help, the call button was answered promptly and professionally, and the staff consistently maintained a high standard of care and compassion. I would absolutely recommend Golden Hill Acute Care to anyone needing rehabilitation or nursing care for themselves or a loved one. A very special shout out to Nurse Alex A.! She was always on top of the 14 or so medications I take daily and took the time to explain each one to me, including possible side effects and symptoms. She carefully monitored the healing of my surgery and broken leg and went above and beyond in her care and attention. Alex is truly an exceptional nurse and proves that some people are genuinely born to care for others.
