It is not my first time at Rehab United in La Mesa (service then was outstanding, too) so when I needed care (again!) I did not hesitate to go back! From Reception to the PTAs to the PTs, all services were the best one could expect. The receptionist team of Vanessa, Morgan, Gabby, and others were always all smiles when you come in. The professional knowledge and expertise of Samantha, Steve, Charlie, and Erwin were evident in the care I received. The PTAs (Lauren, Caylee, Christian, and Josh) were very patient and informative in assisting me with the exercises and stretches I needed to get done. I am generally pain-free more days these days. Well done everybody! If I missed anybody, it was not intentional!!

I started Physical Therapy at PRN La Mesa in March, because after spinal cord surgery last year,…read morethe finger tips in my right hand were completely numb with no tactile sensation. The Neurosurgeon wanted to do more surgery to try and relive the symptoms. A nerve conductive study gave a diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel. I asked for a referral to PT before considering another surgery. At 74, surgery risks increase. My Physical therapist was Pablo Pelayo. After my initial interview, we both agreed that my symptoms were not typical of Carpal Tunnel. After 5 visits, I was elated to find I was getting sensation back in my fingers. This was HUGE!!. After more than a year I finally got sensation back, without surgery. Pablo's approach was phenomenal.We continued to work for a total of 16 visits. Now I have 75-80% feeling and tactile sensation back. I could not be more appreciative or grateful for having the full use of my right hand again. Pablo and the entire staff at PRN La Mesa, treat all their patients with dignity, respect and genuine concern for getting the best possible results.

I checked my insurance claims and every visit on the bill had already been paid by the insurance company. The bill was for the DISCOUNT that the insurance company had contracted with Select. So now Select wants me to pay for the discount that THEY agreed to with my insurance. This company is pure scum.

I was referred to Dr. Peavy by my neurologist for an assessment of Apnea while awake. Since I have…read morea brain stem injury, I thought finding a rehabilitation facility that says they specialize in physical therapy and respiratory therapy--and even Neuro rehabilitation (see YouTube channel)--I was absolutely relieved to get this referral and hopeful I would finally get the help I needed. Sadly, it was all false advertising. When a medical assistant is assigned to help someone with a brain injury who has a history of seizures alone and yells "Help" 3 times to colleagues because her parents is having a focal brainstem seizure and cannot get air in or out... those colleagues should have come running after the first cry for help. Though Dr. Peavy mentioned some recommendations while face-to-face she did not identify those recommendations in her report to my neurologist. I am uncertain whether I caught her on a bad day or if she's always rude to patients. If she asked me an open ended question, I went to answer it, but two sentences in, she said I was wasting her time. When she asked me another question, as I began answering, she said, "This is why you can't get help, you waste everyone's time." I live with a communication disorder from brain injury. Answering new questions on the spot without prior time to practice a concise, one word answer for a complex situation, is challenging at best. Ultimately she didn't know where to refer me and chose to drop me because although La Mesa Rehab claims to provide care for neurological problems, neuro respiratory problems is a bridge too far for this respiratory therapist. If living with a brain injury, and sensory flooding causes problems, this clinic is not for you. They give instructions, set a timer and walk away so there are timers going off all over the room-filled with clients working at different places. The clinic is set up to work as many patients as possible--so they will literally tell you what to do and walk away. Then they all congregate at their table area and chat while patients do workouts without close supervision around them. I was very disappointed and abandoned without the respiratory interventions Dr. Peavy mentioned in our face to face conversation. I sent multiple emails requesting what she stated in person, but Ultimately, since the conversation wasn't recorded, she wasn't willing to provide what she'd promised when we first met. She discharged me because I was too complex for her clinic. Removing "neurological conditions" from the La Mesa Rehab YouTube channel would prevent them from getting complex patients with "neurological conditions" outside their scope of practice.

She didn't even tell him when he had been in session with her. I found this highly unprofessional as in previous therapies either he or I had been in, an end date was discussed prior to so that everyone was clear, and there were no surprises. I hung up on her because I was so angry she would do this. However, he made very little progress so it's probably just as well. As a result of this, neither he nor I will ever step foot in Grossmont outpatient therapy of any kind again.

I have been seeing Shannon Whitall for myofascial release and when Elise joined the team offering massage services, I knew I had to try her out. When I arrived to my appointment, I hadn't even had a moment to consider what I wanted out of my massage because life has been busy and I had been rushing around all morning. Elise was so understanding and open to letting me guide her as she started the massage. I mentioned I had been struggling with tightness in my jaw from TMJ - so she said she would do full body and save enough time to focus on that. She's the only person who's ever kept the perfect amount of pressure through the entire experience. For the last (approx) 15-20 minutes she did intraoral massage and let me tell you - I feel like I floated out of her office that day. I couldn't even put a sentence together when she asked how I was feeling. I've already gifted my husband a massage with her and cannot wait for my next treatment.

But after working with Shannon, I'm almost completely off my medication, and my pain is nearly nonexistent (I know it sounds too good to be true and I'm shocked). I did go through a cleansing period where my pain actually felt worse, but having back to back sessions allowed it to quickly pass. On the table, I could feel the pain and sensations moving all around my body (and afterwards). I also processed some past traumas that I didn't even realize were connected to where the pain was. It felt like true healing on so many levels. I first heard about myofascial release during my yoga teacher training and was immediately curious about its benefits. The spike was sticking out and it will hurt someone and him, he told me to ass remark, about and he very argumentative and he doesn't wanna listen to his client and I know how you something and he tell me I don't even know how and and I don't like that because the safety clip won't protect you want the clip help with someone else that needs I just tired of explaining myself to my him doesn't wanna listen to his patient and that way I had to speak to someone else to do his job, not right for anybody to get hurt with any machine. My suggestion is you need to put a sign up for people that needs it and not for the other people that already know how to use the machine , or have more be around to make sure something don't happen, I understand it for special needs that can't used the machine properly and that they need someone.
