I was driving through and wanted something to eat off the beaten path. Based on reviews, I stopped at the Sheridan Inn and had lunch. The reviews were correct. Quaint historic hotel that served a good hamburger at a low price. I recommend it if you're driving through. read more

Stopped here for lunch while passing through. Super cool history behind this place take a minute and learn about it. Great food and friendly staff. Salads were fresh, the turkey bacon avacodo sandwich was amazing. My son had a reuben and my wife had chicken fried steak. Good portions and everyone was happy. Entered the restaurant @ noon. 1 other patron was seated & had been served. My less than engaging waitress took my order for a Grilled Chicken sandwich w/ Fries. I waited for quite some time before my food was served. The Chicken in the sandwich was cold and rubbery and the fries were cold, limp & greasy! This was my second attempt @ dining @ OR. Both times were horrible. I will never be back or recommend this restaurant. read more

First of all, the food and service was great! We had a mixed drink the barbecue short ribs and a dessert. We also had asparagus and potatoes as sides. The bill came to about $55 for the two of us. The next step up would be adding a maître d' function. Really good restaurant offering a good value proposition. read more

I had dinner here night before last and I ordered a New York steak medium rare that came out way over cooked but that's the least of my complaints, approximately 15 to 20 minutes of the last bite I started suffering with severe acid reflex that repeatedly sent me to the men's room with terrible stomach pain combined with spitting up extreme amounts of acid fluid from my stomach to the point of stomach bile all of which lasted about 35 minutes it was so bad that I almost had a heart attack and that's not an exaggeration I'm an elder man, finally I felt that I could drive back to my hotel room but in the process it took four repetitive request from the server in order to get my check, finally I reached my car and started driving when suddenly without warning I up chucked as I was driving, sorry for ugly picture thought but if for nothing more, perhaps it could save you from the same risk, but immediately following my body removing the damage that I had ingested it was instant relief and back to normal again, as for myself, I would never ever step foot in this restaurant again, would you? read more

Our family stopped in Sheridan for the night from a 12 hour vacation drive. We decided on this restaurant because of the history of the building. We are glad we had our deserved dinner here. The staff was fantastic and the steaks were awesome. If we ever run through Wyoming again we will surely stop.again...thank you for the great meal. read more

The food was yummy but for $50 bison meal I would have like the entire plate to be full with veggies or something. Did not like our waitress, she didn't smile, rushed our ordering and felt judged by my fiance's motorcycle attire. She was very snooty. I will go back sometime but next birthday dinner will be somewhere else. read more

The Open Range is a wonderful restaurant in the grand old Sheridan Inn, with the Buffalo Bill Bar. I have eaten here many times and always exceeds my expectations. Have had many steaks and sandwiches here. I recommend the prime rib sandwich, best in town. read more

Had the chicken fried chicken and it was very good. Mashed potatoes with a gravy that has Maple in it is the best I've ever had. For a very reasonable price. Sure beats fast food. Highly recommend. read more

Food is phenomenal, as are the drinks! One can dine inside the Inn, or out on the veranda. Tried both, both great. We stayed at the Inn and the restaurant was so good we ate there every night. Great western feel. Highly recommend it. read more

Being from Las Vegas I am a completely gourmet food junkie and I must say I had the most delicious delightful meal at open range on Sunday the steak was cooked to perfection and the bartender made the best martini I've ever had and I highly recommend it my only comment is that I wish they had some sauces to offer with their steak pepper corn or Bernays or something but I will go there again as soon as I can read more

Wonderful experience!!! My husband and I are from MT and wanted to get away on our days off so we took a road trip to Sheridan, WY. The Open Range Restaurant was one of the first restaurant/buildings that caught our attention. You could tell right off the bat the building was historical. It had a Southern feel to it; a large white train house with a wrap around porch and rocking chairs. (Note the building is also a historical inn.) The restaurant itself had a very classy/elegant feel. We were greeted in a timely manner and seated in a booth. My husband ordered a bar drink which he said was perfect, I ordered a root beer (which was non-alcoholic and came from a keg. Personally I didn't like it but it's apparently what root beer should taste like.) The menu was easy to navigate with numerous options. I ordered the brisket with mash and maple gravy with a salad and my husband ordered the prime rib with asparagus and mash and maple gravy. My brisket was honestly the best I've ever had and his prime rib was cooked to his perfection. They also served complimentary wheat rolls which are delicious. Our service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was very attentive and knowledgable about the history or the building. We ended up topping off our experience with a skillet brownie which was just the right amount of chocolate. All in all you must try this food. Two thumbs up read more

My wife and her friend had lunch here a few weeks ago and they both were very happy with their meals! So my wife and figured we would stop there for lunch on Saturday 8/22. The waitress was excellent and very friendly. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of vegetables and I ordered a hamburger with a side of fries. My wife had had the veggies a few weeks ago but this time she said they were bland and tasteless. My hamburger was cooked the way I like it but the fries appeared to have been cooked in three month old oil! They were a dark brown and if I picked them up and wrung them out, I could have produced a cup of oil. They were soggy and just inedible. The waitress was great and offered to replace the fries with something different but we were short of time and could not wait. They should have knocked 50% off the price of my burger, but they did not offer to do that. The atmosphere is very nice and everything looked very clean, but the food was disappointing to say the least. The waitress said they had a new cook in the kitchen but how much culinary training does it take to make fries! We'll go back and give them another try, see if it improves at all. read more

2 weeks ago I called and asked if the restaurant was open at night on Mother's Day, May 14 2017. The girl that answered said yes. I asked how late they were open, she said 'til 8 unless they start summer hrs. She said they were having a buffet. I told her I knew that would be during the day but we were coming at night as our relatives were coming through on a bus tour from England and would only be here that night. She said they were open so I made the reservation for 5:30 for 9 people. She took my name and phone number, I thought we were good. My Mom is on oxygen and uses a walker so they arrived early with my sister and her husband. When they arrived the door was closed. My sister went to the main lobby where she was informed that the restaurant was closed and wanted to know who took the reservation. I seriously did not think I needed to write that down! So after frantically calling around as I was supposed to pick up the English relatives in 20 minutes, my sister got a reservation at 6:10 at the Rib and Chop house. We had a wonderful meal there, they were very busy but managed to get our large party in. We have had several business Christmas parties at the open range, but never again.
