The first session was free, so it was a good way to get introduced to the place and the people there. So let's start there. I almost had enough time to say hello to the receptionist when she recognized that I was a new face, smiled, and introduced herself to me. She offered a tour to me, which was friendly, but I was surprised that another attendee offered to take me on a tour herself! It was clear to me then that the friendliness was contagious. I really appreciate that the equipment is available at no cost. Having the mats, the blocks, the bands, and even blankets there meant that I could participate at the same level that more experienced yogis could. This first session, I rolled out in the back as Jade started speaking. The whole experience was wonderful, but something she said stood out to me: when someone's phone rang and they apologized, Jade responded with a smile and said "Don't be sorry. This just means someone's thinking of you." And then I knew that the community was eager to share their wisdom and peace with others. On the community board (which highlights members, friends, and local services) I saw that the first month was available for a reduced price, and after such a wonderful first experience, I knew I was going to sign up. I'm almost done with this month and have practiced under different instructors but have found them all incredibly welcoming. I also appreciate the ability to participate from home, which I've done on several occasions, and an equal level of engagement from the instructor. I've had a really positive experience thus far and am excited for many more months of good yoga and community!

I've also taken rise and rest yoga with Lenore. This was a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. I recently competed a yoga strength class with Amy. This was an all-level class and she offered us options to modify or intensify each move. Amy played a nice mix of songs from her phone during the class; however, the music kept being interrupted by notification dings, which was distracting. Overall, I found Grace Studio to be a decent place for a yoga workout. The studio is equipped with mats, weights, blocks, resistance bands, and bolsters. Instructors offer verbal assists rather than hands-on adjustments for yoga moves. Instructors are welcoming, the studio is bright and inviting, and classes are not crowded.

Upon entering, I was greeted at the front desk. She checked me in and gave me a quick tour of the facility. The place was cute (lots of pink) and clean. The instructor set me up on a bike and we were ready to go. Unfortunately I think my seat was a little too high, so it was uncomfortable for the duration of the ride. I was also a little put off because when I was first getting on my bike, there was an issue with tightening the foot straps and it took another person in the class to try to fix it for the instructor to get up and help me. I removed one star for that. The class itself was cool. It wasn't too hard, but slightly challenging.

No filtered water and no drinking fountains. They sell tanks, tees, sweatshirts. They sell weekend special events and also charge vendors to market themselves to you at those events.

This is the only studio in the area that offers Cryotherapy, PEFM therapy, stretch therapy, and Infrared Sauna. Literally an athletes haven! Its super close to where I am. This past Tuesday night, I took a hot pilates class with Jay Houston and that class was packed like sardines. There was probably 60 people in the class and it was a very hard class. Im in decent shape and man this class was really testing me. And it was beyond hot. Im glad I got thru it but not sure I wanna take this class on the regular. I just no longer feel like thats what my body needs. Tonight, I took a Flext class with Scarlett Salem and wow this class was soooo good and definitely my speed. It was heated and we did a lot of really great hip and low back stretches that I love and need. Instructor was very good, very clear and I enjoyed every minute of this class! 10/10! The heat was set just right and I still sweated a lot but also got in a really deep stretch session but not to the point where I felt it was overwhelming. All of the instructors bring positive energy and great music to pump you up even if you come to class feeling a bit tired. I appreciate that they offer both early morning classes like 6:00 am or evening classes after the work hour. They also have fun group competitions so that people who otherwise might not know each other, start to work as a team. I love Cycled, the people who make it what it is, and Shayla is an inspiration to me- running a great business.

Today was Day 5 of the Dancing in the DMV. This institute also shares their lovely space as a daycare/summer camp for the neighborhood children. The institute has been home of some of DC's elite dancers who gone on to train at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. The staff were welcoming and the faculty was very clean. Restrooms fully stocked and smelling fresh because that's so important. There are a set of elevators if someone is unable to take the stairs. Beautiful inside. Nestled right in the park rd area of uptown DC. There's a parking garage located at 3100 14th street, one block up from the institute. Very reasonably priced and takes the worry out of getting a ticket.

I'm somebody who believes that my instructor should be GREAT b/c it shows me, very tangibly and visually, what to strive for. If I'm supposed to mimic you and I am not impressed with your skills, that is not at all good. You can't tell me how to be great, you have to show me. We did some barre work and then put together a short routine. While it was quite chill and all levels are welcome, it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm looking for rigor. I'm looking for someone to point out all my flaws, make me stronger, and improve my form so that I can be a better aerialist. I want great lines, stronger muscles, and to become a better performer. I don't see that at all happening with that ballet class. If you're looking for something easy and chill, then this is probably a fine ballet class. I might be interested in taking the hip hop class or something else, but I'd rather sell off my pass. All that being said, would anyone like to buy my pass from me? Seriously. $40 for 6 classes or best offer.
