The staff used micro aggression to consistently push my child out of the kids center. Several incidents happened during my visits over a few months. I started to notice the staff who was all Latina women singled my African American son out and they would restrict him from Bringing comfort toys, such as hot wheel cars. He is 4 yrs old and does not like to share. They said he can't bring his cats bc he does not want to share with other kids. However I saw that they would allow all the other kids who were Hispanic to bring whatever they liked including cars . I brought this to there attention several times and observed how they treated him and one day I had enough. A child who was older and bigger pushed my son while I was in the kids center picking up my son to leave . 4 Latina women staff were working and saw the kid push my son and said nothing . So I stuck up for my son since these 4 women did nothing and I told the older kid to keep his hands to himself, my son did nothing to him and he had no reason to push my son. When I redirected and corrected the Chikd. The staff told me I needed to leave. Then this same 6 year old who pushed my son called me out of my name and said I was a "bitch". The staff said nothing to him at all. They grabbed him Because he was running up to me aggressively. I lost it at that point and demanded to speak with the manager who the staff claimed was off. This was on a Friday and the staff told me the manager would not be back until Monday well I came back everyday until Monday and requested to speak with anyone in charge. The manager just keep avoiding me. The manager saw me on that Monday I spoke to her saying hello then she totally disappeared I never saw her again while I was at the gym and when I asked where the manager was the front staff told me she left to go on a break but she had just arrived to work 10 minutes before I saw her. After she ducted out on me I wrote to corporate. Once corporate and the CE0 got word. The area manager called me and basically told me my kid who got bullied probably needed to take a break from the kids center and told me to never speak directed to the kids if my son was ever hit, or abused by another kid to tell the same staff who watched him get pushed. After that I never took my son there again and I never visited that gym again. The staff sat back and watched these 5 kids bully my son and did nothing bc they were all Latino and they look out for their own. I highly recommend to not use this la fitness. They allow bigger kids to bully younger kids and they are not truly watching what's going on. The kids in there just run wild and are allowed to do whatever if they are Latino.

On Monday, June 15th, my wife, Ruth Siegel, and I went into the LA Fitness location on Copley Place…read morein Gaithersburg, MD. While I was swimming, she planned to enjoy the sauna. We are reporting an assault that took place around 2:30 PM in the Women's Locker Room, and we are asking you to take decisive action against the woman who attacked Ruth. Ruth reported the incident to Wes, the Club Manager. Wes spoke to the attacker before she left the premises. We do not know her name or what she said, but Wes should have her contact information. Ruth also filed an Incident Report with the Montgomery County police. After that, we asked Wes what action he was planning to take. He indicated that he was documenting and reporting the incident "in case it happens again," but that he did not intend to take any action against the woman after this one incident. We consider this an unacceptable response. For this reason, we are writing to you under the assumption that you will agree to take more decisive action. Wes gave us your email address. Background Ruth has noted several times that women regularly wear street clothes and street shoes in the sauna. In addition to the fact that your posted policy does not allow this, Ruth knows that it is unhygienic and unsafe. We have attended other fitness clubs where this policy is enforced. Why isn't it being enforced at this club? Ruth has mentioned the problem to club staff on several occasions, but it seems that no corrective action has ever been taken. Recently, Ruth was advised by a front-desk staff member to politely ask the person to leave the sauna and also to report noncompliance to the front desk. On this particular occasion, Ruth made sure she had the front desk phone number so she could call from the locker room, if necessary. I am attaching a photo of the sign posted outside the women's sauna at this club. I am also including a statement we found on Google/AI that purports to be LA Fitness's policy statement and explains "why" you have this policy. The attached statement ends with the following: Violating these rules directly breaches your LA Fitness membership agreement. Club managers frequently monitor these areas, and tampering with equipment or disrupting others can result in the immediate suspension or termination of your gym membership. The incident Ruth reports that she went into the sauna around 2:30 PM, wearing her bathing suit and wrapped in her towel. There was a woman in street clothes and street shoes sitting on the top bench. Ruth mentioned to her that outside clothing and outside shoes were not allowed in the sauna. The woman said she had not seen anything about this in the sauna requirements. Ruth told her the restriction was included in the Sauna Rules that were posted on the outside wall. When the woman did not respond, Ruth stated that she was going to the front desk. The woman followed Ruth out of the sauna and trapped her against the wall in the locker room, opposite the sinks. She shoved her cell phone in Ruth's face and started recording. She accused Ruth of being a racist and carried on with abusive, accusatory language. In an attempt to diffuse the situation with lightness and to let the woman know how ridiculous her behavior was, Ruth gave her a "raspberry" with her tongue. The woman accused Ruth of spitting on her -- which Ruth says she did not do. The woman then hit Ruth forcefully on the side of her face with a wadded-up towel, knocking Ruth's glasses off her face and sending them across the floor. The blow to the side of her head was painful. The woman called her an "old, white racist." Ruth dialed 911, but had to hang up because she couldn't complete the call while being pinned and intimidated. She managed to free herself and got out of the locker room, but the woman followed her out into the hallway and continued to scream insulting, berating, and threatening comments at her. Ruth went to the front desk and asked a staff member to call 911; but at the same time, the 911 Non-Emergency Unit started calling Ruth back due to her previous incomplete call. Ruth answered their call and asked them to come out so that she could file a police report. Concurrently, one of the staff members interviewed the offending woman. However, by the time the police came, the woman had left the premises. Later, the police officer interviewed the two staff members as part of Ruth's incident report. We should mention that the woman did not physically touch Ruth with her own hands or body. Ruth felt stung on her face but was not physically bruised, and her glasses were not damaged. However, she has been experiencing PTSD-like reactions for the past several nights and is still quite shaken. Requested Action We are asking you to formally reprimand the woman who assaulted Ruth. She needs to be told that her behavior will not be tolerated. She should be banned from the locker room and the sauna for a period of time.

LA Fitness works for my fitness needs, and I get a discounted rate through my insurance. I would…read morerank this location above Planet Fitness, but below Lifetime (which is unaffordable for me at ~$200/month) or Onelife (~$50/month). It is pretty clean and has a few fun choices of classes. The instructors are energetic, and it seems the classes have their own little community, too. The staff is friendly and welcoming from my interactions with them. Some drawbacks are that the gym typically closes at 10 or 11, and I like to go later in the night, when it is less busy. During peak hours after work, this gym gets pretty crowded upstairs in the weightlifting section, and I notice that a lot of people can be impatient waiting for the machines, since there is only 1 or 2 of each. Also, the machines are not really upkept perfectly- there are numbers rubbing off to see how much weight you're lifting. As far as value and location goes, I would probably switch to PF or Onelife if I did not have the $28/month discounted price to LA Fitness. Do research to see what works for you.

Alex (the owner) is my trainer now - I work out with him 3 times per week. He is among the most knowledgeable professionals in the business! In my two months with RedZone, i have seen my neck and shoulder pain disappear through a very focused training regimen. Alex also works with my Physical Therapist to tailor workouts to my needs! I would highly recommend RedZone fitness for either one-on-one personal training, their bootcamps, or any other service they would provide.

Alex is unquestionably one of those rare trainers who understand both the psychological and practical aspects of training. He is quick to tune into the personalities of his clients and push/encourage them accordingly, and he isn't rigid in his training approach -- if you want to skip or modify an exercise, he is happy to adjust the workout. His compliments are genuine, and he never judges you for failing to finish an exercise, resting, or confessing to a bad week of eating. Finally, I enjoy the style of the workouts he provides for me. Lots of creative exercises and new twists, yet all very functional. And because his exercises tend to utilize multiple muscle groups, they provide a full-body workout -- you definitely get your cardio in addition to strength training, which is great for anyone who is crunched for time!
