I have been going to this location for 3 months now. Some days are better than others. They try to keep the space as clean as they can but it is so crowded in their with machines and people I know it is difficult. I have found recently that machines are broken more often than when I first joined. So that is annoying. I really wish they had a bigger space because when it is crowded it is impossible to do the machines you want to use. Also, now that they have the kids program in the summer there are a lot of teenagers who are taking up machines and not using them. The good thing that PF offers is the app so that you can see when the gym is crowded. I think they can do better to improve their equipment as some equipment are breaking and looking very raggedy. I really hope they make some improvements soon. read more

Very disappointed with this Planet Fitness. They stopped showing the FIFA World Cup and replaced it with American football. I asked the front desk if one TV could be changed, and they said only the manager could do it. When I spoke to the manager, he said it wasn't his decision--it was "corporate." I wasn't asking them to change every TV, just one. The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and only happens once every four years. It's disappointing that a gym with dozens of TVs can't dedicate just one to a major international event. The experience felt dismissive, with everyone passing the responsibility to someone else instead of trying to help. Whenever you walk into the gym, the staff is always happy to see you and are willing to assist you when you have questions or concerns. In spite of the fact that the facility is always busy, the male bathroom is always kept clean. There is always plenty of paper towels and disinfectant available at all times, which is a good thing. Recommendation: There is a need for gym staff to enforce gym etiquette so that no one has to sit in a machine for over an hour at a time. Although customers might not be aware of the etiquette, Planet Fitness is obliged to make sure that it is enforced. In addition, some customers film their workouts with tripods, which can cause problems for some. Overall, they have excellent staff, but customers should be informed about proper etiquette. read more

Weights (machines and free weights) and cardio equipment. I've gone for the last six months simply because that's all I need from a gym and you can't beat $99 for an entire year. As long as you know what you're getting and are fine with that, you'll like this gym. Otherwise, head to Lifetime or LA Fitness nearby. The club should put signs on all equipment -please wipe down after use. The total body enhancement therapy machine is also consistently dirty. Many times with a lot of hair and black dirt on floor. There is no trash can in the room even though there are paper towels. They could even mount a small trash can at eye level on the wall. They should put a sign up-you must wipe the machine down after use. The gym is very crowded as well. Even with three bars on the crowd meter, you frequently have to wait for a piece of equipment. They are also in desperate need of another set of adductor/inductor machines as there is almost always a wait. They have the room. In the past, they had an individual on staff that was constantly cleaning the machines. They even went around with a Swiffer duster. I have not seen that in the past year or so. Focus seems to be on bringing in as many people as possible. This is understandable but unfortunately , the size of this gym does not make for a comfortable workout experience . I think they need to explore expanding to a larger space. read more

Pros: Staff: The staff is always nice and you're always greeted with a smile. Equipment: They finally got new equipment. Makes the gym look better Cons: Equipment: They need new hand weights, ropes, more medicine balls and the like. The ropes are falling apart and snag a lot on random parts of the equipment. It's annoying. Trainers: There were a few trainers that I've liked. I've specifically enjoyed Devon's classes. His classes are challenging yet fun. Prior to Devon, my mom, who doesn't even work at the gym, was teaching the classes while the trainers would stare at their phones, sometimes sit down, and time them. Sometimes they'd throw in an additional exercise to the routine but for the most part, she'd teach the class. She even received an email about being "intimidating" which is absolutely ridiculous. We no longer attend the classes for that reason as much as we enjoyed them. The facility: It's smaller than the other gyms in Montgomery County and at least twice a month, the gym closes for plumbing issues of some sort. "Member of the month": Back in July, I was told I had become planet fitness member of the month and I was ecstatic. I didn't get my picture taken until August and I received a "Garmin" watch instead of a fitbit which was advertised on their sign. I was told I needed to wait to get my picture put up because their color printer wasn't working. They randomly got new management in the process of me waiting for my picture to be printed. I had to explain to the new manager that I was made PF of the month prior to her arrival. She took my picture with her cell phone and yet again, I had to wait because their printer wasn't functioning properly. I walked in todayto see someone else's picture in COLOR posted on the wall. And you can imagine how livid I was to see that. And the reasoning this time is that the regional manager said that they've changed the entire set up or whatever of member of the month and they no longer give out watches. And because of that, I guess I'm no longer counted. Their change in how they do things has nothing to do with me or what I was told. They could've let me know that it changed and I would've been glad to take another picture. I've been super excited about this for a very long time and am very disappointed about the entire situation. I do look forward to switching gyms soon. On the bright side, I got a free watch. So if you decide to become a member of this gym, don't have high expectations. You get what you pay for, right? read more

I'm new to PF and was drawn in by the $0 Enrollment special for Ladies (until 5/10/12) and $10/mo fee. I like this gym enough, but I'm not in love with it. I was really spoiled by the towel service and spaciousness of Rio Sport and Health... I miss you Rio, but if I stick with PF, I'll save $120/yr (not including the maintenance fee of $19.99 in October). PF is tiny. Right now, they are undergoing renovations and only one shower in the women's restroom is available for use. They have one personal trainer, Eric (who I haven't met, yet) who runs group sessions for abs, legs, what not... He has a pretty straightforward schedule which does not change. I was also informed that I could make reservations for certain classes to secure a spot. This is a great option! Staff member Chris is what PF is all about. He was so patient with me and my questions when signing up. He was completely authentic, understanding, and nonjudgmental (it took me FOREVER to find my routing number to fill into the application form). I think he is a great asset to their facility. I have to see if I can get him some recognition from his management team. PF's 30 minute circuit kicked my booty. Very good workout. read more

I always sign up for a black card. Every time I've joined with the black card, there never is a registration fee. You can use any planet fitness gym internationally. Comparing this to the PF Germantown, it has everything the same except: Positives: 1. Weight area has wrap-around mirrors that allow you to see more just one view of your workout 2. I have been coming here since moving to Gaithersburg about 2 months ago and even about 3 months before. It started out pretty alright but has started on a steady decline. I know I'm going to Planet Fitness and not Gold's or Lifetime so my expectations are curbed to a degree. It has most of the equipment I need to get a great workout in.... though it could be cleaner. A lot cleaner. The locker rooms are just really muggy and pretty gross. I can't fathom someone would want to shower there. You couldn't pay me enough. It hit the lowest point a couple weeks ago when I came in and saw trash cans/containers collecting water from a broken/leaky AC unit in the ceiling. The leg press was moved in order to not be completely unusable. I just received a text message saying they were temporarily closing to address the issue... nearly two weeks later as the situation has worsened. In short, I just expect better from the national institution PF is at this point. Well before that, I was looking for the medi balls. The guy working the counter said "we had to take them away, we can't have nice things". I'm guessing this means people were stealing them? Apparently, that is now my problem in that if I want to use the medi balls, I have to leave something up there to barter. That's really ridiculous. This issue is theirs and it should not be affecting all members. I really wanted to like Planet Fitness, and a lot of people really enjoy it. I dig the mottos and the slogans, but this location is just the pits. Corporate should really intervene. When that OneLife opens up in the Fall I'll certainly be visiting PF a lot less or cancel altogether unless they get their act together. The gym, bathrooms, and red light therapy machines are routinely dirty. They typically have 2-4 people behind the front desk. How many people are needed to watch someone check in? Get out on the floor and clean. You may also be able to remind customers that they can't monopolize a smith machine for an entire hour and that you can't take your shoes off while working out. Hard to see these things when you hide behind the front desk your entire shift. The place is going downhill due to incompetent management. BTW - I've notified management more than once. I was looking to start going to the gym again after the peak of the pandemic was over, and Planet Fitness was the cheapest and closest option. Although I ended up switching gyms because it was too crowded and dark-feeling for my taste, it served well as a temporary gym for 2 to 3 months, and I appreciate how straightforward it was to both start and end my membership; canceling took less than 5 minutes and I knew the terms I was canceling on. It's a little known fact, but Planet Fitness is run by Satan. Don't believe me? Let's review the facts: Exhibit A - they have Pizza Night Mondays. That's right...they have free pizzas lined up at the door when you come in between 5 - 7:30. PIZZA. At a GYM. If that's not evil, I just don't know what is. Exhibit B - for those that work out in the mornings...they have Bagel Morning Tuesdays. Nice and carb-y. And let's not forget the deliciously fatty cream cheeses. Diabolical! Exhibit C - for those of us that try to avoid the Monday night and Tuesday morning sabotage...they have large bowls of Tootsie Rolls sitting on the tables! Now, for those of you who say "oh, but those are fat-free"...please remember fat-free is not the same as calorie-free. And I don't know about you, but I can eat a whole lot of Tootsie Rolls in 10 minutes while waiting for my husband to finish up. Exhibit D - their tagline is "No Judgement" but as my friend so wisely reflects, "I judge them for spelling 'judgment', 'judgement'". I decided to give PF a try after I saw the really low price and no contract promotion they were running. And also a huge factor is that my weight has been creeping up on me. I found I was winded walking up the stairs to my bedroom. Its not a good look. I went in to sign myself up and right away I was relieved to see that the staff was really nice and they looked like regular people. Now mind you Im used to being mistreated by the Bally's staff that always seem to be bothered by my very existence and right off of some fitness magazine. When I joined Bally's not so many years ago I was a new mom and I wanted to try and get back into some semblance of my old self so no I wasn't dressed in the trendiest and vey skippy workout clothes that most of the employees and members wore. I was in tights and a large tee shirt. I ended up going a total of 3 times and paying over 800.00 dollars. This is one of the main reasons I was attracted to PF. I was relived to see regular people working out. Thats it. The GM on duty actually took time and showed me and my sister around the gym before we signed up. The gym itself is a no frills gym. I was glad to see that they have fairly new workout equipment and enough that you don't usually have a wait for them. All the machines have instructions on the side so its very user friendly. The staff is always warm and inviting. And very supportive. If you need any help they are happy to asset you. They have everything that you need for a good work out. They have this one area where you can do a whole body workout in 30 mins. Its great when your really busy. They are also opened 24 hours a day which makes it really convenient. Basic planet fitness facilities, the problem is when a machine needs to be tightened up or fixed the employees do nothing. Not helpful or even professional. I even offered if they had an Allen wrench I would tighter a leg extension machine myself. The girl just sat at her computer scrolling Instagram and said that's how the machines are we can't fix them. That's not true. It takes two seconds to tighten a bolt but she seemed to be too busy scrolling. Most the staff is kind and cool. Just classic helpless customer service read more

If only I could speak favorably regarding MY experience, I would. Unfortunately, PF has left an more than unfavorable experience for me. With that said, the experience I had was with Billing only. If you ever have an issue with Billing, I wish you good luck! Mine was beyond horrendous! No words can best describe the UTTER disappointment I had with this matter! I start by saying that I had PF incorrectly bill me without my consent, and they have YET to release my Refund, after over an entire Month ! I tried to reach out to their ABC Financial Group a number of times, and each time, A Supervisor would look into my case and promise that my RFD was in the mail. After another couple of weeks, I called Back for the fifteenth time, and I once again complained of the situation. Another Supervisor got on the phone with me and informed me that My RFD was actually NEVER sent out from the onset! I understand that I had an invalid CC, so they had to disburse a check. But that was two weeks ago, after I was told that the check was "Indeed in the Mail" and that I will need to "wait until Monday". Three times I called and was told my RFD was "Already" sent out! So here I am waiting for PF for the RFD. Already a month has gone by! So, PF had actually lied to their member!!!! Or NO ONE AT ABC FINANCIAL knew what they were doing! After an entire month, one of their incompetent supervisors finally admitted that my RFD was never issued via check, and that she will take over my case personally. How am I so sure that this supervisor knows what she is doing? Here is what I PROPOSE TO PF CLUB MUDDY BRANCH! Allow the Club Mgr from Muddy Branch to compensate your member for the unnecessary incompetence of your staff with an Annual or 6 months complimentary membership BC. At this point, I believe the entire staff at Your Billing Department of ABS Financial is Soooo woopfully incompetent, that a simple disbursement of RFD is not possible! If no one, including mgmt, cannot carry out duties of their JOB that they are paid to do, maybe the staff needs to be replaced with more competent ones. I am sure a robot at this point will be able to solve this basic Customer Service 101 issue, better than your live agents! I won't be surprised that I may not ever get that RFD. In this case, it is the duty of the Independent Franchise Club Mgr to offer service in-liu of this outrageous display of UTTER INCOMPETENCE!!!!! They have tons of equipment from Treadmills, Ellipticals, machines, Battle ropes, Kettlebells, free weights ect... black card membership gives you options for massage chairs, tanning booths and a bunch of other things. This place is depressing. Dark, dirty, feels moldy and damp. There's only 2 adjustable benches.. no real paper towel holders. Locker rooms are tiny, maybe 2 showers? I transferred my membership here and cancelled half way thru my workout, I couldn't finish it because there's no equipment available at 8am, I couldn't imagine rush hour. I've worked out in Planet Fitness' for about 4-5 years now and even in smaller locations but never had such a depressing experience. Time to look elsewhere! read more

I see several other reviews complaining about the set up of this location - I personally really liked it. It was 'compact' but it left enough room for all the essentials. There was plenty of natural lighting. Ive been to smaller planet fitnesses in Philadelphia. Also - it might help that I went midday on a Friday, and there weren't too many people there. It started to get a little more crowded when I was finishing up, but there were plenty of available machines and equipment. The staff was friendly, machines were in workin order, the exercise area & women's locker room were both clean, and the parking was plentiful. Nothing too much to complain about! I am not a member. I was looking to try out this gym based on the advertisements for the $10 membership. I could not find a guest pass online so I decided to stop by in person and ask for a guest pass. I asked the person at the front desk for a guest pass and I was told that they were not offered. You had to be a member to work out at this gym. I was really disappointed that I could not try out the gym and get a tour. I understand that the membership is cheap, but I don't see how a guest pass hurts their business. Since that happened I've been looking into other gyms which hopefully have much better customer service. read more

Planet Fitness is definitely a "get what you pay for" deal. You can find yourself paying $10/mo with no contract or $20/mo black card deal where you can have unlimited guest and visit any location. My kind of deal! My sole purpose for coming here is to workout and that is all and it meets that standard. All the machines work, I sweat and feel skinny, and I leave. The place is clean and staff is very friendly. It is open 24 hours except for the weekend, which is perfect for me. However, I secretly wish that they were open 24 hours straight, but I guess the staff has to have lives too.... If you had asked me 2 weeks ago, I probably would have given this place 5 stars because of it's convenience, friendliness and cleanliness. (It doesn't even have that old sweat smell, thank God!) I am giving them 4 stars because I have now come across members who obviously cannot read and follow instruction when the staff and signs say "please wipe down machines after each use." I used to be a member at PF Rockville, but when I got a job close to PF Gaithersburg I transferred my membership. The transfer process was easy to complete online, and once they had my transfer form I was free to get on. Even though I had been there before to check it out, the guy at the desk didn't know that and didn't offer me a quick tour of the gym, which I can imagine is what a lot of transferring members would appreciate. PF's hypocritical message of "no judgement" is still supposedly in use (hypocritical because they label you a "lunk" if you accidentally drop weights or grunt slightly), but I have never see any of the staff walking around making sure nobody is hogging the equipment. Plus the weights area is full of musclebound guys who also crowd the equipment and take great pride in wearing tank tops to show off their physique - this is supposed to be against PF's "rules." During busy times there are too many people who sit on a resistance machine for ages between their sets, when someone else could be using it. Same for members who think it is fair to be on an elliptical machine or treadmill for 30 minutes at a time. People are too selfish in general and the staff don't seem to care about this issue. They are always friendly when I come in to give my membership number at least. The whole pizza/bagel/tootsie roll thing is a ridiculous mixed message as well. If it's a gym you should not encourage snacking! Still, ultimately, it is cheap and you get what you pay for. So if like me you can't afford any better, this is a decent option for the money. The #7 tanning booth doesn't work. The panel didn't allow me to press start. Or to raise up the fan. I love to tan but I also like to have control of the panel in case I over heat. This is dangerous. And it should be fixed. The panel in the inside of the booth should allow you adjust the fan and start/stop it. read more
