I have been to opportunity house many times and never had a problem there always nice and have a great selection. But when I got home I discovered there was a needle in the file organizer thankfully it was sealed and I know how to dispose of them. It's clear management and workers are lacking at this store. The few workers seem stressed and very rude! I almost slipped because there were several roof leaks through out the store. As I was leaving the donation dock, a worker was climbing a tall ladder dumping several trash cans in the rain! I came to donate few times another time but the front desk said they close at 2pm but their website says 5pm. They weren't accepting clothing, electronics, toys and linens! My friends and family will never come back to this store! They're overpriced and the store is very messy. Whoever is running the store needs to be fired. read more

I believe I have become addicted to thrifting. That feeling of finding an amazing item for such a good deal and even the hunt for something is such a thrill! Plus, it helps the environment, most of the thrift shops support charity...etc etc. S E R V I C E: Parking is great! Huge lot, and it's a pretty big space as well. I saw plenty of staff walking around and assisting people. They were all busy making everything tidy and visible for customers to see. The cashier was friendly, and even gave me a rewards card. P R O D U C T S: I honestly feel like I got lucky finding the the things I found. The way their pricing works, is one price for sweaters, for shirts, pants, cardigans, etc etc. The more pricier clothing items are in the boutique section. They didn't have much clothing options as I thought they would, but their book section is pretty big. I was a little turned off by the pricing of the books, however. Most books were either $1 or 50¢ and there were some books that I believed should have been grouped together or even 25¢. They also seem to have a big selection of nice furniture, and most of them were already called for. O V E R A L L: I'm definitely going to come back, but I've been to a lot of thrift shops and I feel like their pricing is a bit higher than most. There isn't a huge selection of items at this store although I did find an awesome desk (which in my opinion was a bit overpriced considering the amount of scratches it had) however I love the desk nonetheless. The downside is if you do purchase a larger item there is a delivery fee (as with all stores), however the staff was very friendly. I personally prefer Savers, however this organization provides assistance to the homeless population so I appreciate that aspect. read more

This store is the place I go to most in the past ten years. I buy something almost every day. In fact, many things I buy are useless at home because the prices are not expensive. Buying is also a form of donation. I also donated some items that I don't need at home to this store. After the store reopened this time, I always felt shy when paying because the cashier always asked me if I would donate extra money to them. I really don't want to be asked this question. Because your products are all get free, the purchase itself is already a donation, and the prices of the products have obviously increased a lot since the reopening. When paying, I always have to answer the question of whether I will pay more. I really don't want to donate more money every time, although sometimes I agree to donate. Although you may have the opportunity to get a three-point profit if you ask for it. But being asked all the time and not wanting to donate every time is unhappy for both parties. It hurts both parties psychologically to some extent. Can you cancel this business measure that embarrasses the store staff? This business measure of doing good has gone a bit too far. read more

Do not shop here I went in today with my hard of hearing Mother and we were told we either needed to put a mask on or leave. by law she is medically exempt as am I. as she needs to be able to read my lips. she is not able to wear a hearing aid, as she has tubes in her ears. when I pulled up the.gov website to show the manager, she would not even look at the website and said it is corporate policy. I told her whether is corporate policy or not it is still discrimination and I would just talk to my lawyer about it. she laughed in my face!! they are super rude and I would not let my enemies shop here!!! This review is for a large item pick up, not inside the store- I am currently moving and instead of throwing away perfectly good furniture, I decided to donate it to the opportunity in Vacaville and I am so glad I did! The two gentlemen who came over to pick up my items, I believe their names are Gerald and Steve, went ABOVE AND BEYOND! Not only did they come at a prompt time and removed my furniture extremely fast, but they also took the appropriate safety measures related to Covid (6 ft apart and wearing masks). They were extremely nice and professional, as they took great care of removing my furniture from my home. Overall, I am glad I chose to donate to the opportunity house as they do so much for the homeless within the community! read more

So I can in yesterday, stupidly, and I saw a three piece outdoor furniture set...350$!!! And I saw a cabinet 150$$ so if I got the two things I liked it would have been 500$. No....there's no way I'm withdrawing 500$ from my savings account for some used items at a goodwill. "Pricers" - Quite a few items are ludicrously over priced (If items were priced accordingly @ true thrift store prices, there wouldn't be overstocked issues.) 2. A lot of merchandise should have went directly to the dumpster or recycling bin 3. There are some decent deals but generally that's only if they want an item(s), to move/sell (Mostly furniture items) I've witnessed on several occasions when Susan, the AM, spoke rudely & curtly to patrons in which I concluded, "Completely unprofessional." One particular instance, I saw an elderly man inquire about an overpriced, partially rusted BBQ, asking if the price could be negotiated... Her reply, "Beggars can't be choosers." WTF?! Are you serious?! The majority of the clientele shopping here are on a fixed income, struggling to make ends meet, shopping at a damn thrift store looking for a fair deal on used items. They don't want to be raked over the coals! 'And she's going to add insult to injury by calling him a beggar? Clearly signs of someone that's very, very comfortable in her position. (True story.) Some people think they can talk to others without any accountability or recourse, all the signs of some power trip'n, ego issue. (i.e. - Bullies) "I'm the (insert job title here), I'm in charge... I AM THE POOOOOOWWWWWERRR!" (Yeh, a lot like that.) Silly. Common/professional courtesy isn't so common nowadays. The dock crew in the back are a great bunch of guys, hard working and appear to get along relatively well. This group of guys along with the merchandisers/stockers are truly the backbone of this outfit. This is the team that, for the majority of the time, who LITERALLY moves the merchandise from the back lot/drop-off area and on to the sales floor. The Opportunity House works with various programs, helping people get on their feet or allowing those with disabilities to be able to participate & work in a retail environment. Some are on the non-profit's payroll but the majority are volunteers. Schizophrenic Pricing - It's a bit perplexing... (Scratches head) 'How the same two items can have have two completely different prices or how a particular item can be so drastically marked up for the sake of greed is interesting to me. It's a thrift store, not an antique shop. The majority of the clientele walking through the door are looking for good deals and aren't reselling gurus. (Though, there are a few that do Craig's List, Amazon, eBay, etc.) Gail & Francine, who are to blame for the personality disorder-type pricing fall under the same category as the AM. They've been here for a while, too comfortable being unprofessional... I suppose that's why they're kept away from the general public. The 3rd Sunday - On the third Sunday of every month, everything is 40% off... 'And the pricing is a lot closer to what thrift store pricing should be. My family and I will never come back and stop our support to this business. We came in to the store with my 7month old baby and I was wearing her diaper bag as I can into the store. As I started to walk around after looking at dvds for 20minutes, I was stopped by a woman who said I can't wear our baby girl's diaper bag. I explained it was baby essentials such as her diapers, babywipes, baby clothes and other needed baby items. I then went to the woman who insisted they were enforcing a no backpack policy. I did not see or notice a sign so I know she was lying. Otherwise I would have not walked into the thrift store with our baby girl diapers bag who is only 6 months old. As a black man I felt discriminated and insulted. We are usuals here and this was a first time we have ever been stopped like that with me wearing the diaper bag on. If the woman was so worried about me possibly stealing, then monitor the cameras right? She was rude when asked to have our diaper bag that also contained my wife's wallet inside. Staff has been nice when I visit. Prices are reasonable and they seem to always have a sale. Go early because the later in the day, the more crowded it gets...and it can get pretty packed. Also if you're shopping for large furniture, many pieces will have "SOLD" tags by noon! My favorite part is the "free books" bookcase in front of the store. Great for teachers! They also have some sort of "point" system (I am not sure the details but the cashier signed me up and gave me a scan card yesterday!). This business deserves a negative rating, unfortunately. Though, so I've given them one star in duress. It's very sad that they are closing, but I've posted on Yelp before with a warning they were pricing themselves out of business. The prices sky rocketed when the then new executive Director took over and obviously has no idea how to run a thrift store. When you operate a thrift store you should go for volume. You want to have donations come in and have them go out quickly by selling them reasonably and or perhaps cheaply. Mega sales will bring the money in as opposed to trying to stiff the shoppers with such high prices. you don't get to charge new prices for used items!!and that's something that they didn't catch onto and it's obviously destroyed their business which is heartbreaking because it goes to such a good cause. read more

We only had 30 minutes before they closed but we got a good idea of the thrift store. It's very large and has a lot of different things to look at. I went straight to the clothes and saw that they had a lot of random food finds and they were all a set price, not individually priced. I don't mind that process but sometimes it seems that some pieces aren't worth that price point. My husband went straight to the books and movies and they had a decent selection. We both walked away with nothing but in the future I would love to come back with more time and explore the rest of the store. read more

This place is so cool!!!! I love that they have a ton of furniture at amazing prices! The coolest antiques with a ton of variety. Clothing is kind of a mess, hard to tell where everything is BUT pricing is super cheap and all the prices are on one sheet for women's clothing, men's, kids, etc. So no tags just a set price for different items. Which I thought was really nice, most places try and up prices on "more expensive" brands. Really glad I looked this place up on Yelp. It doesn't have such great reviews and I might just be in awe since it's my first time here but I will for sure be coming back!!! It is always fun to browse and there has never been a time when there was not great values in the store. Fun, savings and thriftiness... I always find something when I go in there and the money goes to a good cause - it benefits the Opportunity House in Vacaville for the homeless. Recently they had all the artwork & frames on sale for .50! I have also found beautiful crystal and other kitchen supplies. You can find practically anything in this store - it's about 10,000 SF!
