I used to love coming to this store because of all the unique finds and today was no different. I was excited to see what kinds of Valentine's Day themed items were in stock. Unfortunately, about one minute into the store, I was followed closely by a store associate and he didn't even try to hide it. And when asked for help with an item, he didn't even try. I've never experienced this kind of treatment or lack of customer service here in the past but that was my last time giving them my business. If I could give less than one star, I would. Pick up is horrible, called to see if order was ready, they said no, had been over 3 hours and in stock. They said it wasn't pulled. Never asked for a name or order number. And was already charged on my card. Went to store and they had employees that could have gotten it so today they text me early. Marianne could have said yes its in but didn't. Poor customer service, messy store, rude worker and I tried to order online, item didn't even say it was there till 4 days ago, said I could pick it up in 10 days. Get there have to wait in line over 20 minutes because they only hire one cashier and the cashier was rude and snarky with me the whole time. When they went to check where the order was it was a huge mess of boxes and super archaic system, basically at least 30 years outdated and it's a wonder how they find anything at all for anyone. (The order boxes are literally next to the front door with a simple curtain covering it so it'd be pretty easy for people to steal your order too) Honestly I won't be back. World Market used to be good, but the quality has really gone down especially in customer service and it's a waste of time. This is one of my favorite dish, today I made a delicious Paella Valenciana that was also my first attempt at making it. it turned out incredibly tasty! Since I successfully made this dish, I want to share it with you. Here are the ingredients needed for this recipe. *Paella Valenciana - from World Market (inside a box comes with saffron rice and a can of seafoods) *Matiz Octopus- from World Market *Wild Argentine Red Shrimp- from Costco *Mussel Meat - from Sprouts Market Boil 3 cups of water, add the saffron rice and stir. Visited World Market in Vacaville on Father's Day, expecting a quick snack run but ended up in a real-life episode of "Retail Surveillance." As soon as we walked in, Ashley, one of the associates, greeted us with a stare that screamed, "I'm watching you." We headed to the Spa area for some hand soap, and guess who appeared? Ashley again, silently checking up on us like a ninja. It was odd, but we brushed it off and grabbed our snacks. On our way to the counter, we saw Ashley doing her best secret agent impression, seemingly looking for someone. When she saw us, she headed back to the front. Now, I'd like to think that being the only Asians in the store, which was predominantly white, had nothing to do with it. But it's ironic that a store selling international goodies would treat people of color like this. So, if you're into awkward staring contests and unspoken surveillance, this is the place for you! Otherwise, World Market might want to work on making all customers feel a bit more welcome. read more

Located next to Michael's in Vacaville, I mark this as one of my most favorite stores in the area. When you walk in, there's nice music playing, and you get wall to wall full of tons of exciting things! I can spend hours in here. The staff always say hello when you walk in too. The store carries a large variety of items. There is alcohol, food, sweets, soft drinks, furniture, rugs, tableware, home decor, candles, cards, jewelry, and many other knickknacks knacks. I've gotten many a decoration in here, and I keep coming back because it seems there is always something new to discover. The pricing isn't over the top, but affordable, which makes it even better. A lot of people tend to come in, but the line never stays long because they are pretty efficient at getting your purchase taken care of. They have events that take place in the store like trying to find the elf on the shelf. One year they had placed llamas throughout the store and had prizes for anyone who could find them. I participate in these, but haven't had any luck yet. They are excellent at their hiding game! This store just keeps me coming back for more. Check it out! You won't be sorry! read more

I love World Market. Their stores are always so full of interesting products, from furniture to food items. You could find lots of European food and snacks that otherwise wouldn't be available at your local grocery stores. I always enjoy discovering new food/snacks. From time to time I find my favorite Belgian chocolate brand here too, Guylian. Their furniture looks chic and high-quality. In fact, we ended up buying some outdoor furniture from them ourselves. But when we came to this store to pick up our 2 outdoor chairs (on Wed, 8/17/22 at around 7 pm), 1 of them was not in a box anymore (aka. it was a floor model they had used for display at the store). When we looked surprised, the older lady that worked there (a manager I'm guessing) immediately looked at us and got on the defensive side and said out loud, "That was the only one left. That was it." While I understood there was no more new one in stock, I think her delivery was crude. Furthermore, it would've been nice if we had been informed in advance that would be a floor model, and we would've felt more valued as customers if they had asked us if we would accept something that had been used as a model. But this older lady didn't seem to care too much about what her customers thought at all. At other World Market stores (for example, the store in Concord), they offered me 10% back when they had to offer me the floor model. But at least the two other younger female staffers at the store, on the other hand, were very nice, friendly and extremely helpful to us. Thank goodness for those two. They're the reason to stop me from giving a one-star review on Yelp. read more

One thing I've realized is that every store looks the same. But it's well stocked and if I'm looking forsomething familiar, I can find it. They have a decent beer/wine section. There are some areas that seem less complete, than their store in Oakland, CA. The cute little dishes and other such things were nowhere to be found. Also, the snacks weren't as plentiful, but it was a cute little store and I'm glad that I went. And as usual, I walked out without purchasing a thing, but I'm not mad at them. It's been years since I stepped into a World Market store, my first time at this location. According to the locals, this place opened recently, within the past six months. Makes sense considering I didn't recall seeing this store the last time I was in the area, which was around this time last year. Anyway, all I can say is you guys in Vacaville don't know how good you have it with this place. It's kind of like a huge liquor store that sells gourmet imported snacks and food stuffs (at cheap prices). In NYC we have nothing like this. The closest thing we have is Bed Bath & Beyond that has a section of the store carved out as World Market (think store within a store, and BBB owns World Market - in case you didn't know), but they don't sell liquor, let alone wine, which is extremely unfortunate. If I lived here, I'd definitely be the duke of this place. read more

Bright, fun, funky, unique and familiar. So much to look at and enjoy. Different items to eat, drink, wear or play with are on display here! Lots to look at. Furniture, food, wine, candy, candles and items for your house or yard. JK and I liked walking around and smelling the candles and soaps. The bright colored pillows and furniture were pleasing to the eye. While you may shop here for something specific, it's fun to come here and "find" what you need. We picked up a couple different snack items. Chips and hot sauce for DP. Candy for JK, chocolate for me. Flavored, carbonated water for all. We enjoyed it! The employees were friendly and helpful. Our cashier met us with a smile and he asked if we found everything we needed. We laughed, because we didn't "need" anything! The gentleman at the cash register next to us laughed and proceeded to describe the little bottles of Vodka on display. He said they taste like "cake batter." This one is chocolate carmel flavored. Oh I hate it that World Market moved to Vacaville. But I can't complain because it seems as though this location has more items than the previous location, they actually have clothes and more consumable items to chose from. Great thing about World Market is that they have a customer rewards card which comes in handy! I walked in expecting to buy one wine rack with my 10% off coupon on my phone but found out they were also having a 20% off on wine accessories (SCORE!) I ended up buying a wine table, four different wine glasses, three bottles of wine, and coconut water. Still to my amazement being below what I figured that I'd spend. Service was nice. They were even willing to help me bring my wine table out to my car so I wouldn't have to lug that thing myself. Gah!! I LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

I truly love World Market and have been going there since I was a child. There is so much beautiful merchandise and it is one of my absolute favorite places to make purchases. I am sure that I have at least a few items in every room, from World Market. The only negative drawback about this location is the employee named Marina. Whether it's in person shopping or inquiring over the phone, she always manages to be rude. There has not been one single occasion that she has been pleasant. Marina is obviously in the wrong line of work. She has no concept of customer service and should probably just work in the warehouse/back to avoid being the downfall of customers supporting this location. Christina is a gem and hopefully will be rewarded for making up for the lack of customer service, that Marina is incapable of providing. read more

Came in here just to kill some time. Was pleasantly surprised with what cost plus had to offer. I'm away it felt like I had traveled around the world with the different items that they had in the store. My favorite was the tea selection. I love tea and being able to try teas from different countries is awesome. Walking around the store they do have a lot of furniture in the store. I like this because it will give you an idea of how the furniture might look in your house especially with all of the wonderful accessories that they have paired with each piece. The staff are friendly and always around offering to help you find items or asking if you need help. To me it seemed genuine and not asking because a manager might be around. I thought her name was Kirstin but another reviewer mentioned a Kristin. Anyway, Kristin and Elaine were amazing. I could see that all the visible employees were busy up front serving customers at the register. I found a desk that I really wanted, which I had already purchased for my youngest. After some searching, Kristin walked out of the back room. I inquired about the desk. She spoke of it's popularity and said that the floor model was likely the last in stock. She was correct. They did not know when the desk would be back in stock and the floor model was still very new so I went for it. Within no time, Kristin had an employee wheeling the desk to the front of the store. She opened a register for me and was joined by Elaine. My son and I were happy to take the desk out for ourselves but these ladies were insistent that we allow them to do the work for us. They mindfully, carefully loaded the desk into my jeep. Kristin even offered some additional guidance for when we removed the desk from the jeep, as she did not want to see damage come to my vehicle or my precious desk. The quality of the desk justified the purchase price of $249. I feel it will last the rest of my life. On those occasions where one can choose QUALITY, one truly should. Love World Market. Hate it at the same time. One of those stores I can't walk out empty handed, I always leave with something, even if it's just food. This new location is so much better than the old Fairfield location that closed. Same layout, but nicer and spacious since this location is larger. More space means more merchandise, so bad news for your wallet. Gotta love when they have sales on their seasonal items. I always wait until they're marked down like 75-90% off! We arrived to buy a love seat about 3 min past closing. Not only did the employees let us in, but Ray and the rest of the crew helped bring the love seat out. I am not exaggerating when i say that Ray tried to help us move the seats in our van, the other stuff in the van around, and finding a way to fit this in the back of the van for FORTY MINUTES! He had to go find an Alan wrench and unscrew 2 of the legs. He then gave us the wrench so we could re attach them at home! This guy acted like it was no big deal, like he shouldn't have been off work on his way home already. The other employees didn't bat an eye at staying and helping us either. Usually the customer service at Cost Plus is very good. Had a bad experience yesterday. Only one cashier working. She was involved in a complicated transaction and told me to wait and she'd call another cashier. I did hear her request over the intercom (?) So, I waited and waited and waited. Finally I asked her if she had called another cashier. She very nastily said "didn't you hear me call?" What I was hoping was that she'd call again. But no. I put my item back and left. read more

Yesterday I went into world market to find inspiration to completely re-design my photography studio. I not only found inspiration but I found exactly what I was looking for. The employees Ray and Marina were AMAZING. They helped me find everything that I was looking for and were quick to offer suggestions and solutions. As an update to this review. I decided to give the store a second chance but what a mistake that was. If I wanted to shop at Home Goods or Tuesday Morning I could go down the street and spend a fraction of the price. The merchandising in this store has taken such a downturn in the past couple of months, and from brief conversations with current staff members it all comes down to one person (who was mentioned in the first reveiw). So far my husband and I have purchased two furniture items from here. One desk and another side table. They Are the sturdiest pieces of furniture in our home! The Josephine desk literally had 3 pieces to put together and was so simple to do. Muchhh more simple than our ikea furniture and more stable. Cost Plus Workd Market in Vacaville has the best customer service that I've run across in a long time. I was looking for a love seat in a particular color, and Kathleen the store manager went out of her way to help me find the right piece, and have it driven down to Vacaville from another store. Once I had it home, I was attempting to put the legs on the love seat, but found I couldn't tighten the screws enough with a regular screw driver so I called Kathleen, and sure enough within an hour, their operations manager Chris was at my door with a electric screw driver. He tightened all the screws within minutes and never once did they ask for any kind of payment for this special service Wow. Both these managers are at the top of their game and represent CPWM well! Don't expect returns to be easy. I ordered 4 chairs online only to find it didn't work with our decor. I was disappointed I spent $60 for shipping but knew that was the cost of buying furniture online. The website says "Hassle free returns in-store" so I thought it should be no problem. At the store I'm told the items are "online only" and as such they have to be shipped back to headquarters at my expense! The supervisor showed me this fine print on their website and told me I would have to contact their return department to arrange the shipping. "Nothing she could do"! The customer service rep I spoke with agreed with the clerks conclusion that these were online only items because on the details page it says "World Market Exclusive". Come again??? Isn't that the name of the company and not their website? Confused, I looked up the item and NO WHERE does it say online only. I even put the item in the cart and attempted a checkout to make sure I didn't miss anything. Nada! It literally says "Hassle free returns in store" directly under the item cost breakdown. Don't make the same mistake I did of giving your money to a company with such an amateurish approach to customer service and deceptive online marketing strategies. read more

It's too bad I have to give a 2 star review because I love this store. Went in the other day to look at the lamps and the section was a mess. I was confused as to what was clearance and what was not. A worker came walking out of the back and I asked her for help not realizing she was on the phone. She put her finger up as to say "one minute, I'll be right back". So I waited, waited and waited.
