I have a CDL physical tomorrow . Found out it is the last day I can do it. I did not want to have any issues with the exam. I drove to this place on Monaco at 430 pm. I told the receptionists what was going on. They got me back in seconds for the exam. The gentleman then helped me pick out glasses and instantly gave me a huge discount. I was told after I scheduled an eye exam for a problem I was having I was told I had to pay $139.00! I have insurance so I called them about what my copay should be ! The talked to Optical Masters and they told me them they don't even do the kind of exam I needed! Now where was the rest of the copay going since my copay was really $45????In someone's pocket??? This is the second time I have gone here for glasses. The first experience, 2 years ago, was pretty great, which is why I returned. My last appointment wasn't all that great. The customer service was lacking, I did all of the follow up. I finally got a response via text that my glasses were ready. I asked why no one contacted me that they were ready the day before and I was told they did contact me. I showed them my phone that no one called, and it was aww well we must have dialed the wrong number. Keep in mind, when I paid, I said these are my only glasses so will they be working on this right away or should I drop my frames off when they can? I was assured they would be ready in the morning. Apparently, they were ready, but no one told me. The prices have gone up more than I expected, which was a shock. I paid the same amount this time as I did last time and all I did this time was relace the lens - no frames. After my appointment, an email reminded me that that I have AARP discounts available to me. I doubt I will return here again. read more

I have never had such a fantastic experience at an eye appointment before! Allen helped me for about an hour select frames that I liked and got me to explore different styles. He really personalized the experience for me. The frames I selected are totally out of my comfort zone but I'm sooo satisfied with what I picked. I wanted to update my review for this location. My recent visit was really something. I walked in 10 minutes before my appointment and was the only customer in the place. Of course I had to fill out all of the paperwork, but still did it before my appointment time. They told me I would be seen shortly. I wasn't seen until 20 minutes after my scheduled time and didn't even get the doctor that I scheduled with. I never even saw her in the building. After the doctor was done with my eye exam, the power goes out and that made my checking out take even longer. Also ordered contacts for the first time and the pricing just seemed outrageous. Seriously--the fastest glasses I've ever experienced. Like, next day every time. They have a huge selection and very reasonably priced for frames. They do glasses and contact prescriptions. My son got his first pair of glasses with optical masters ten years ago and just got his newest pair to start high school. We paid $278 for a contacts/glasses exam, 1mo supply of contacts, and a pair of Ray-Ban frames with upgraded lenses. Avoid this practice, or at least avoid Dr. Jay Megard - he does not seem to respect your time. I had a 10am appointment on a Saturday morning. I showed up at 9:45 and checked in. 10am rolled around and it became clear that Dr. Megard was not even in the building. At 10:10am, the receptionist started making calls asking where Dr. Megard was. At 10:18, Dr. Megard walked in with a full Starbucks in hand. He walks right past me (the only patient in the office at the time), and doesn't acknowledge me or apologize for being late. Rather, he went directly into his office, shut the door, and took what sounded like a personal phone call. I sat there a few more minutes in disbelief before asking the receptionist if Dr. Megard knew I had an appointment, and she said he did, and that he did this kind of thing every weekend. This review is with respect to the optician at this Optical Masters. I acknowledge that getting an accurate prescription for eyeglasses is not the easiest thing to do. Therefore, many opticians give their patients some time to test the prescription out and if necessary, they will retest the patient. This office only gives one 30 days. And if you do not fill your prescription immediately and test that prescription out within that limited 30-day period, you have to pay the full price of an exam again, to get retested. Because, apparently, our eyesight can "change significantly" in 30 days. That is not a customer friendly policy. read more

This is the second time I have had to write a bad review about Optical Masters. After the last one I received a call from the Manager and they finally replaced the defective glass frames. I took that review down. Now three years later I bought another pair of glasses the frames of which failed after seven months (broken hinge screw). They are not repairable. Optical Masters told me I have to contact the manufacturer about a warranty replacement. They offered to sell me another one of the same frame for more than I paid for the frames and lenses seven months ago. Before buying there be aware they do not honor the warranty on frames. I found the same frame on the Internet for $27. The frame that OM sells for $119. Now I understand how they can make the seemingly great offers on glasses and frames. I ordered the frame and popped my still like new lenses in. Hopefully this time the frame holds up. I am done with this business. read more

I had a bad allergic reaction to some contacts I had and couldn't see. The Billy Joel show was on 7/12. I was panicked, didn't know what to do. We did some searching and found Optical Masters, called them up. We were worried it wasn't possible to get glasses in a day. Plus, when we called, it was 4:45p on a Thursday, pretty late in the day for a visit, but the girl on the phone calmly reassured us they could get it done, closed at 6p and told us to come in. We got there at 5:30-5:40p, we walked in and instantly greeted by Leo, he gave us the bin and we looked around. Now I have no clue what looks good. I like to think I do because I'm stubborn and resistant to change. I picked out a frame I thought was okay, my girl also thought was okay, I didn't feel 100% so I ask Leo about it. Now it's getting close to 6:00p, probably 5:50-5:55p, and Leo could have gotten frustrated with us for being in so close to closing. But he didn't. You know what he did? He came over, checked out my ugly mug for a minute, thought to himself and disappeared for a moment. Then he came back with some frames for me to try. I did and what do I see but my girl's face instantly reacting with a gleam in her eye. Leo did it. He found the frames man, I already felt they were lighter, more comfortable, and also the frames I'm wearing as I write this review! He was a rockstar man. Leo made my day, he said come back tomorrow and you're golden. I got back the next day and I meet Alan. Love him, friendly, reminds me of a mob boss. I think he had the gold ring/necklace also. Love it. Dude's a boss, he gives me two hardshell cases that can withstand a nuclear bomb. I'm good to rock. I'm good to go see a once in a lifetime concert with one of my musical heroes, Billy Joel. After having been to America's Best, I decided to give these guys a try as well to see how their service measures up. The staff is terrific and attentive, and even helped me select certain things with the glasses. However, the cost was astronomical. With insurance, I still paid about $240 for a bare bones pair, completely different from what they had offered in advertising. And the quality is questionable, as there's already a scratch on the lens and I haven't heard back to see what they can do about it. They have great staff, but they need to do something about pricing and quality if they wish to stay competitive. read more

I went here to buy a new pair of glasses (I already had a current script) and got a ton of help finding great options! There is a large selection here of glasses. They range from less expensive options to larger name brands. (Side note - there are coupons on their site sometimes for a second pair of free glasses, but that just applies to this one tiny section that I doubt many even look at; it's more of a marketing tactic.) I was a little overwhelmed with the selection as it's been a really long time since I've bought glasses. Initially 2 women were helping me. I stuck with the one who seemed to understand my style better (I didn't get her name but she has gorgeous eyelashes and pretty curly hair). She actually nailed the most perfect frame early on, I just didn't like some of the smaller details on it, but to nail it so quickly was impressive. I used that pair to find similar ones and she helped me narrow down my final selection. One negative about this shop is the lack of photos to really compare final choices. I thought it was a common practice these days (or maybe it's just a LensCrafters thing and I'm making an assumption?), but just note that there isn't one here. However, the sweet woman who helped me took pics using my phone so I could compare that way, which I greatly appreciated. Another thing to note is that they advertise one hour service, but it's based on their current workload (there is fine print clarifying that, but I had just remembered seeing the "one hour" part online). I came in right when they opened on a Saturday morning and don't know when my glasses would've actually been ready, but called and was able to get them rushed to a 3pm pick up on Monday. It's just important to note that it might actually take a couple days plus a little follow up on your end, so just keep that in mind. My glasses are good so far. There is distortion which I haven't ever experienced so far, but I guess that's normal and you get used to it. All in all, I loved the selection, am liking my new glasses so far, and really appreciate the help I received. If I need another pair of glasses I can't say I'd return, though, due to the lack of photo comparison and the longer than expected turnaround time. read more

This is the second time I get my exam here and have to come redo the exam again. They had a doctor who could do the exam second time but they wanted me to reschedule for a different time because "my doctor" was mot there. I guess if you have an exam with one of them they automatically become "your doctor" even when they could not do it right from the first time. Most of their staff is rude and not helpful. First impressions: the store is clean, there's carpet and it's a well-lit lobby that's clean and ample glasses selection. Lots of brands and plenty of choices at all price points. They have a fully staff; 4 members at least on the floor at all times asking people every 5 minutes if they need help. My dr appointment was for 2:45 on a Monday. I walked in at 2:30 because I figured there would be paperwork, and I had that filled out fast. Just your standard 1 page intake form with a HIPPA beneath. I wasn't taken back for my appointment until 3:10. One of the employees asked me FOUR times if I had insurance. Boy oh boy do I love repeating myself. The doctor seemed like he had it all together because all the machines he needed to use were all in the exam room. I am no stranger to optometrists or ophthalmologists as I spent my formative years trying to cure an incurable condition with my vision. I have sat through HUNDREDS of eye exams and appointments and various eye doctors. This doctor enjoyed making me sit through not 2, not 3, but 5 of the air pressure things into the eye. Okay, no problem I think. It's whatever, we'll be out of here quick. Nope. He just couldn't get it so I got to sit through the repetitive experience of an incompetent doctor. Then I went to sit in the big chair where he takes the super bright light and looks around my eye. I think I sat there for a good three minutes while my eyes are steaming tears and I am struggling to keep my eyes open. I have NEVER had an optometrist TAKE AS LONG AS THIS DOC DID. Other docs... 20 seconds tops. I was amazingly uncomfortable and he kept touting that he didn't see enough of my eye and made me go for more. At one point I even asked him "are you good now? Because you've been torturing me for a long time now." I am NOT new to this, and I've never had the uncomfortable portions of an eye exam last as long as this one did. Plus, he wasn't very chipper. I was very polite saying "yes sir, no sir" and he was an old grouch! At least pretend it makes you happy to torture people. Then comes the glasses part. The coupon I brought in included a pair of frames (ugly frames mind you, but you get what you pay for so it is what it is) and you can upgrade to a nicer pair of frames for an additional fee. It's actually a genius marketing structure. I didn't need help finding frames and yet an employee was kind enough to help pick out frames. Once I had four frames picked out, she rushed me to the desk to pick among the four. Why I didn't stop her right there and said "actually I'm not done looking yet" is beyond me, so I went with it. This employee was kind but she rushed me through the sale, and I felt like I didn't pick the frames that were truly the best fit for my face. Once I got my actual glasses in the next day, I didn't like them! My mother says "maybe you'll get used to them" so I wore them to work and then to a friend hangout, but I still don't like these frames on my face. I'm not happy with my purchase and my experience here. I was rushed through a sale, tortured unnecessarily by their optician and overall displeased with the result. OH and the doc wrote my prescription wrong. I literally brought in my preferred brand of contacts and explained the coupon I had was for a cheaper brand. I explained my intention to buy the cheaper ones today (to use for vacations and spares etc) and then obviously order more of the more expensive ones to wear day to day, as those are specialized to help my astigmatism. He wrote the prescription for the cheaper ones so now I get to go back to have him write my correct prescription. The staff here is all about timing and closing sales. They make you wait a long time waiting to see the doctor, then he takes his time making you really uncomfortable while he checks out your eyes and dampens your mood, then the sales staff rushes you through picking frames and get your money. Cost isn't bad here. That's the one positive thing I'd say. But like I said before, you get what you pay for. read more

I chose Optical Masters to go to for an eye exam, because the place I originally decided to have my glasses made couldn't accommodate me for an eye exam as quickly as I needed. Optical Masters was. Walking in, I was confronted by the most amazing array of frames I've ever seen! They have at least five times as many to choose from as you would normally find, and not a bunch of junk, quality, nice looking frames that fill the entire suite! My appointment was with Dr. Jay Megard, who gave me a thorough exam, and made sure I could see. It's been awhile since I've had an exam, but he used three different machines to test my vision and choose the best prescription. 'Though he was fast, he did not rush it. I felt 'taken care of', so I decided to look around at the frames here, even though I had already chosen the rimless frames I wanted at the competitor. I was assisted by the manager, Michelle, who helped me find frames that suited me. I first looked at the 'low end' wall, which has quite a lot of nice frames to choose from, that actually look good on! They have a great selection of designer frames though, including, totally rimless, partially rimless, and fully rimmed glasses. My favorite section is their 'overstock designer' section, where you can get designer frames at a reduced price. The owner clearly takes pains to make sure there is something for everyone, and doesn't seem to stock anything 'ugly', 'big', or 'clunky'... I was so glad my original ophthalmologist couldn't see me, and happy to save the money, as I have recently been laid off, and needed glasses for my new job. I wound up getting my glasses here instead, and chose a pair of partially rimless, and a rimmed pair, for two different looks, which cost less then the pair I was going to get elsewhere. I definitely recommend visiting Optical Masters if you are in the area. I am so excited to be able to see again, and will be able to pick up my glasses tomorrow, even though I just chose them today! I really appreciate everything they did for me here. I get their job is to push prices on us as much as possible to make their money but if I say no then stop fucking asking. The main problem with this place is the glasses easily break , scratch , lose screws , from my understanding they don't have insurance coverage for any of their glasses so if they do break in any type of way other than a screw needing to be put back in then you're pretty much fucked out of however much you spent on those glasses spent 500$ total an boom you just lost it within 2-3 months . Yes, they have lots of glasses in a wide price range. But the store feels cramped - they don't actually have enough space to display them so there are areas where they are almost stacked on top of each other and hard to see. But what really bothered me was the man helping. I asked him to write down the name of the pair I liked so I could look at the color choices at home with my husband and he refused and was quite rude with how he said it. I'm guessing this policy is to dissuade people from buying those frames at another shop, but if you treat people well and help them make a purchase, they will want to shop with you. But when you're rude and act like I'm not to be trusted, I don't want to give you my money. read more
