I am a mom and had camp drop off in the morning before this, had to work at a coffee shop across the street in between and take off work to make this appointment work for me, just to be turned away for a 10 minute difference in appointment time (that their scheduler made). The girl at the desk might as well have been a robot for all she cared and kept repeating a 9 minute policy. ZERO empathy and the sweetest voice, terrible combo. The fact that they pack appointments together so closely that they can't afford customer service is atrocious. Yuck, don't make the mistake me and many other reviewers here did: GO ELSEWHERE to somewhere that CARES.

I…read morehave been unemployed for a number of months now and have been subsisting off Medicaid -- Dr, Sumner's office miraculously (I don't think that adjective is an exaggeration) accepts that!! I made an appointment; and the day of my appointment, was able to shift my arrival time earlier 30 minutes -- that was nice that they could make that happen!! I used to think I received pretty superlative eye care at Lenscrafters; despite their being a chain, I received about 5-6 eye exams there. Apparently I didn't know what "superb" eye care was, because I received no less than 10 separate exams there; possibly an eye dozen if you include the examinations by the doctor himself. Dr. Sumner has the demeanor and carries himself like a respected, kindly old grandfather; he is very polished and meticulous and leaves no potential detail unturned. Despite my fretting about what exams Medicaid would cover, he found a way to bill everything to Medicaid. His staff was professional and courteous. My 1 regret was that I could not get the high index Rx he wrote up for me covered at the optical store in his office; that would have set me back the better part of a thousand dollars, I'm pretty sure. I had to flee to a chain store to get it filled out and am still waiting for the finished products. If Dr. Sumner senses that you are a higher-risk candidate (for example, diabetic with a risk of diabetic retinopathy; or have other corneal issues, genetic issues or dry eyes), he will go the extra yards to make sure you get the best possible eye care -- and in my mind, that makes him a rarity: 100% concerned with health, financial remuneration comes secondarily. When I get "real" medical insurance again, I hope I can select him to be my optometrist -- we should all be that lucky.

They have the most up-to-date equipment (Dr. Stuart Lewis loves his toys!). I have never had a problem with billing or experienced overcharging. Last year Dr. Tammy quickly diagnosed my constant tearing-up as a dry-eye condition and prescribed drops and Omega oil supplements and it worked immediately. His practice has expanded to include an office in Centennial and has added additional physicians. My current doctor is Weston Sherwood (not yet on business card) since he just graduated last year. Over the years the office staff has changed but the service and care is top notch. They have all the current diagnostic machines. They accept all standard insurance plans including VSP. Their in house lab and eyeglass retail space have been served by Julie & Kyle as long as I can remember. They continue a standing policy that you can get your eyeglasses adjusted for free Mon-Fri and Sat till 1pm. They continue to hand out free microfiber cleaning cloths and alcohol cleaning sprays. Free parking around building with handicap ramps. Nice seating area.
