I have had glasses and eventually contacts, since the age of 8 years old. I am now 57 years old and struggling with income as this corona virus, has put a serious grip on us all. As you can imagine, I have been to my fare share of optical stores. Optical Masters on Monaco and Leetsdale, is certainly welcoming, proffesional and friendly store. Also very easy access. This morning, I ripped one of my contacts and was in a bit of a pickle, as it is about $150, to get another round of contacts. So with the balancing act of food, gas, phone, electricity and no money coming in for about 2 weeks, I made a call to Robin at Optical Masters and explained to her, my situation. Really only needing 1 contact, she was approved to give me a free set, to help me make it through this rough spot. Wow, Thank You Optical Masters. I was so happy to find Optical Masters on Monaco Blvd! I was able to schedule an eye exam for my son and get glasses the next day. Both regular and sun glasses. He has insurance under the Affordable Care Act Medicaid and we were surprised to find that the exam was covered. Very nice frame selection within a reasonable price point. I've been coming to optical masters for awhile now. Just for a annual eye exam, let me just say usually my eye exam take about 10 to 15mins. Today it took like 5 mins ummm yeah. Really fast makes me think are they even checking it? So after that they push you to buy there contact lenses, like super pushy. I rejected the offer and she was so piss. Like really piss. I ask the lady at the counter may I have a copy of my prescriptions and she told me to wait ok.... so I waited an extra 10mins for a copy, so I got my prescriptions and the funny things is both my eyes are almost alike which I doubt is right.. This is the place to get a great deal on contact lenses. The eye exam/lenses combo is cheap, but the service is is not. They really took care of me, even when the first trial pair wasn't quite the right prescription. They gave me free follow-up exams and trial lenses until everything was perfect ... THEN ordered my contacts. The selection of sunglasses is random; they have $15 frames next to $150 frames, and they don't always look that different. The regular glasses selection is pretty good ... not too many of those ugly frames we scratch our heads on wonder why they exist. read more

Brought in my own, awesome frames, and walked out spending $288.00 for the lenses. They promised the lenses would do everything except make me dinner. Within 1 month they were cloudy and scratched. I brought them in and they told me there was nothing they could do. I've been wearing glasses for 20+ years and I've never, ever had a pair scratch and cloud up this fast. I brought them to other optical places and they told me they are cheaply made and look 3+ years old. Not 6 months. I'm really miffed. Almost $300 and that doesn't include the frames. Rip-off. I wanted to add; I've been coming here since I was 16 (I'm 32 now. shh!). This is the 1st pair that have just disintegrated. My boyfriend desperately needed new glasses. We went in on their $89 for two pair and free eye exam. They had an exam appointment that day. There was a range of frames at that price or for only $10 or $20 more. We did pay extra for anti-glare coating, but the anti-scratch was included. This is the second time I would purchase something from optical masters but the prices kept changing and the people who answered the phone refused to talk allows to talk to the owner of the business and also refused to let me talk to the office manager stating they don't have any set schedules. This is the first and only business I've gone for an eye exam, glasses, and contacts since moving to Golden in 2012. This place is a half hour drive for us but I chose it because we saw an advertisement with great prices and we were always looking for excuses to check out new areas. This is how we discovered $2 Books and Bull 'n Bush Brewery. My boyfriend came with for the appointment in July 2012 and I warned him he may have to keep busy a while because these type of appointments usually take a while. We were both pleased that I was calling him a little over 30 minutes later to help me pick out frames! I liked the doctor and remember having a pleasant experience choosing the right frames and lenses with the staff. I called in the beginning of July 2013 to order a new box of contacts before my prescription ran out. The lady on the phone told me she would call me when they were in. After a week and a half I hadn't heard back so I called. The lady this time told me she saw no record of me ordering them and it was after the date my prescription ran out. I explained that I called in early July for that exact reason and would really like to receive my order without having to schedule another eye exam. She was very kind and said she would do that for me and apologized for the miscommunication and delay in getting me my contacts. I received a call they were in a few days later so I went to pick them up the following Saturday. I waited alone for about 3 minutes in the empty lobby without being helped. There was a man behind the counter when I initially walked in but he just disappeared into a back room without acknowledging me. When a kind lady finally appeared from another back room to help me she did so quickly and gave me some free contact solution. So I have mixed reviews of their professionalism and service this month but I will update my experiences when I go back for an eye exam. Their prices are too great not to go back. I must say, over the last 10 or 15 years, I have been QUITE impressed with Optical Masters! They go over and beyond to please their customers. I was ESPECIALLY impressed with an employee that I referred to as "WYOMING "; wasn't sure of his name, I believe it could be JOSH?? He gave me the impression, he was not there for a paycheck, he absolutely LOVED his job. There were a few concerns, I did not quite understand. I returned to optical masters, and he walked me through it, to provide me with a better understanding. He listened attentively, gave me a little "in-service", and rapidly got the problem resolved. Got scammed. I went to my healthcare provider website to find an in-network provider. Optical Masters was in-network, but when I showed up for my appointment, they told me that they will not bill the insurance company because of some vague company acquisition. They told me I would have to get reimbursed myself. Against my better judgement - and I am very much regretting my decision - I went ahead with the exam and purchased glasses. Long story short, I spent $250 on the exam and glasses and got reimbursed $39. My out-of-pocket costs should have been $50 at most. If they tell you that they can't bill your insurance company, WALK OUT IMMEDIATELY. Learn from my mistake. read more

I usually don't review doctors offices because it's all pretty standard. Right? Nope. Optical Master is a great deal. For an eye exam package + contacts, it was really affordable. Since I forgot to sign up for vision insurance through work this year, I called about 10 places and Optical Masters had the soonest appointment and was the cheapest, so I thought I would check them out. I have been to big box stores and small 1-man shops in Denver. I like this place because there are multiple doctors and staff who work there, so getting an appointment is easy but still has a personable style. I wear Proclear Torics (Accuvues doesn't work well for me) and my prescription is not ordinary. Initially, they didn't have Proclears in my strength. I was given a pair that was comparable until the Proclears came in. I guess a drawback may be their stock, but it worked out for me and I honestly didn't take a full inventory. They are located near Monaco & Leetsdale in a shopping plaza. Parking is easy. But ... It's not downtown, in a major suburban shopping plaza and it's not right off the highway, so the location may be the only drawback. If you're like me and live in the neighborhood, it's perfect! Staff was nice, but really pushy when it came time to but contacts. I told them I like to wear the lenses for a week to make sure I like them, but they kept insisting I get this brand because they have an awesome rebate. The eye dr was nice, however, I have never had such a bad prescription. My left contact is blurry and my right contact is over powered which is causing a terrible headache. I'm using my contacts I have left from my outdated prescription until I can be seen by a more skilled O.D. read more

However, their designer frames were pretty darn expensive, typically $300-$500 for the frames only. I have been going here for around 10 years. They are priced better than any other place I have found and nearby. The contacts are priced great, the exam is included. The usually can get you in the same day if need be or at least very quickly. Everyone is always very nice. I have not seen the same doctor twice which makes me think they have a high turnover. Yes this is a good place to go. For $119.00 my daughter was able to get an examination for glasses and contacts, AND a three months supply of Acuvue Oasis contacts. Their frames start really low around $40.00 and go up. Unfortunately, we have expensive tastes and so that decision will have to wait a day. Usually, a contact evaluation runs around $65-80 or more, and soft contacts start around $300.00 for a three months supply, so this is a good deal. I'm talking about cash prices when your child is too old to have insurance. read more

This is the worst place to get glasses or contacts I have ever been in 52 years of wearing eye correction! From the first appointment where the doctor was watching a webinar on his computer during my exam through the SIX (6) appointments it took to get the glasses adjusted. Every interaction with their staff was painful: I was told that if the glasses didn't work after the 3rd time being sent back that I would have to pay more money for another frame and lenses. I was told that my prescription was a very "difficult to fill", well, if it's too hard for you Optical Masters, get out of the business, because that is what a prescription is. It has taken 2 full months to get the actual prescription for my contacts, they have sent me home with 'testers' 4 different times in order to get the prescription right, and when I finally got the exact prescription written down for me, it was wrong. Good thing I kept all the boxes the contacts came in. The filing / note system at the store seems to be sticky notes and small plastic trays all over the front desk. I believe this disorganization and carelessness is the reason I wasn't called when my glasses came in or when the sample contacts came in. When I finally picked up my glasses, I was told that the issue with the glasses was "all in my head", that I needed to get used to them. I also ordered my contacts from 1-800-Contacts using the boxes the samples came in, and of course that is different from what was written down on the prescription pad, and I'm now trying to get the correct prescription ordered. This is the WORST experience I have ever had with glasses / contacts. I would advise you to look further for a place to fill your eye correction needs, Optical Masters will now be called Obstacle Masters in my house and I will never, ever give them my business. read more

I saw a Groupon for Optical Masters so I called, mentioned the groupon which they explained to me and told me to wait until I had my exam to purchase the groupon. I made an appt for an eyeglass & contact lense exam. At my appt, I saw Dr Frank. She was the most unfriendly individual, much less professional than I would have expected. Not once did she smile during my time with her. She actually seemed pre-occupied and annoyed. I felt rushed. I chalked it up to her having a bad day. I continued with choosing frames and ordering contact lenses. During my time with the salesperson, I reminded her that I wanted to purchase the grouoon and use it toward my purchase of glasses. I reminded her a total of four (4) times. She finally told me not to use the groupon because they would use a lesser quality lense in my glasses due to the discount in the groupon price. My 26 yr old daughter was with me and heard every word. Of course, I wanted the best possible lense material so I did not ourchase the groupon given what i thought at the time to be a professional guideline. My total bill came to almost $800!!!!!! (I chose a $169. frame) WTH !!!! I paid a portion and was told the remainder was due when my glasses & contacts were ready for pickup in approx 2 weeks. That was fine. As I thought about this later, I was very disturbed about being told I would get lesser quality if I used the groupon discount. I called and was told they would look into it, recvd callback but no satisfaction. I walked in approx 2 weeks later, sat down with mgr, was given a $120 discount, but had to buy the $99 groupon while there. WOW, Really not to my satisfaction but honestly just tired of dealing with their very unorganized and get the customer out the door attitudes. I paid my balance and left. My contact lenses weren't fitting correctly so I did return, saw the same "unfriendly" dr. She switched my monovision back to what it was prior to my visit. Another week+ for the new order to arrive. No phone call when the order did arrive. Again, I did a walk in, picked them up after waiting more than 30 minutes as they tried to figure out what they were doing. A woman that had been waiting as well, got so frustrated, she left!!! Really need to get their ducks in a row and invest in some Customer Service Excellence training!!! Won't go back. They stock frames that seem to be the discards or overstock of somewhere else, meaning they only have the colors and styles you see in stock. At least the "cheaper "frames are this way, there are brand name ones at full price, like Silhouette and Oakley. The exam fee is the lowest around at thirty bucks, but the actual spectacles are way overpriced compared to what's available online. They charge about double the cost of a comparative lens/frame package, plus throw in extra fees for things like cutting a new lens. I'd pay the premium for brick-and-mortar service if it was fast, but they were no quicker than ordering online. Not dealing with this again. read more

This place rules. Seriously. I have to say, I had my doubts when I decided to use their "two complete pairs of glasses and eye exam for $79" coupon (which you can find online. and even if you don't, i guess the usual deal is just $89). I mean, there's no way, right? Well, I was wrong. They have a system (you'll see what I mean if you go), so only the cheapest pairs end up costing only $79, but I had no problem finding two pairs of sweet-looking frames for only $10 more. Of course, once I had them picked out, I again had my doubts, expecting a hardcore sales pitch, but there wasn't one. He asked if I wanted glare coating or something like that, and I said no, and that was it. I couldn't believe I actually walked out with no hassles and paid that little for two complete pairs of decent quality glasses. I was ecstatic. The only negative thing I have to say is that when I went back a second time to try to replace the pair of glasses I ended up losing (no tragedy there, since they weren't exactly expensive), I was annoyingly stalked by one of the salesmen. So was the guy next to me, who was also just browsing. But the salesman quickly gave up after neither of us really reacted to his sales-y advances, so no big deal. This place has very bad customer service. The first time I came here, I made an appointment for first-time contact lenses - I even told this to the person on the phone. When I came for my appointment, they said that they were sorry, but there might not be someone to help me since I am a first-time contact lense wearer. Wuh? After this mix-up, I got a trial pair of contacts and ordered 2 boxes of new contacts. The doctor told me that if the contacts didn't work out, to come back in and they would give me another brand to try (I just had to keep my boxes of contacts unopened so that I could exchange them). The contacts weren't working so I called back to get a different brand. The person on the phone said to come in at 3:15. I was in the area around 1:30 and asked if there was any chance they could see me now. The person on the phone said yes, no problem. When I got there, they said they couldn't help me, I would need to have an exam, and then they would give me a new trial pair, but I could try some re-wetting drops. Really? I'd also like to mention that when my first order of contacts arrived, no one called me to tell me that they were in. I had to call and ask. When I asked him why they didn't let me know that they were in, he replied, "I don't know." And to top it all off, they charged me $189 for 2 boxes of contact lenses. My husband got the same exact pair from Lenscrafters for $125. What a waste of time and money! Won't go here again. read more
