Avoid Trailside Dental Care…read more After treatment at this office, I was left in severe pain and repeatedly asked to be evaluated by a dentist but was unable to speak with one. Instead, I was given guidance by staff while dealing with significant pain. I ultimately had to seek emergency care elsewhere, where the problem was properly resolved. In addition, I was told I needed 6-8 fillings and a crown. When I sought a second opinion, I was told that none of that work was necessary and that only one small area needed to be monitored. The difference between those two evaluations was alarming. Recommending large amounts of unnecessary dental work goes beyond poor judgment -- it's unethical. What makes this even more concerning is that the dentist at this office has been suspended by the Ohio State Dental Board and is currently practicing under probation for documented violations involving patient care. This is public information anyone can verify on the Ohio State Dental Board website. Please research carefully before choosing this office. Patients deserve to know this information when choosing a healthcare provider. This review is based on my personal experience and publicly available disciplinary records from the Ohio State Dental Board.

Unfortunately, it is not a good one. I totally can empathize that emergencies happen. While they will tell you (and probably respond to this post) that I'm a "monster", it's quite the misunderstanding. In my opinion, if there is a personal emergency it's best to go take care of what you need to do. Context: I first had a scheduled for optional dental work October 16th. I was given proper reminders on October 14th for an upcoming appointment. It was mere hours when I was called to be informed I must be moved as Dr Lowe must provide anesthetic, and she had a personal emergency. Fine. I understand and had no problem. Unfortunately, I had moved all of my meetings / took time off for this planned 2 hour visit and considered it an unfortunate event. My next appointment date was scheduled for Monday, November 4th, three weeks after the originally planned date. I again take another half day off on the 4th. I was given prompt reminders, and a bizarre "warning" text a week out that failure to cancel in a 24 hour period of time would end up in a $100 cancellation. Ironic, but I sent a text back to confirm, ensuring that I would be there for this visit. Less than a business day before on Friday, November 1st in the afternoon, I receive another call from Clifton Dental Care. The receptionist informs me that due to another emergency, I must be moved again up to the 19th of November. Shocked - and time-constrained - I did in fact have more questions asked than answers and expressed concern. Again, I couldn't believe I found myself in another reschedule, another afternoon already approved to take off, zero consultation of a new date. It was as if they assumed that I could simply rebook meetings, work travel, etc. for this optional dental work. I simply stated (and, fairly, firmly) it was unacceptable. Sure, my frustration was noted, and I wanted to get in this same week of the cancellation if possible, or not at all. They left a message an hour later and, miraculously, got me in November 8th. I took a final half day off. November 8th comes - they complete the work, all goes very well. It was cordial, perhaps a little tense... sure, but fine. I paid for the work, and was sent on my way with after care instructions. Today, November 13, I received a MAILED LETTER stating "based on your recent interactions with our office, we think it's the best next step to find a new dental home where you will feel most comfortable, and perhaps you feel that way too." So... I guess my cleaning scheduled for December 12th isn't happening. How unprofessional. If you have a problem or we had a tense moment, state it in person; you were in the same room with me. Or, give me a call to express your feelings. Let me know that you felt offended, and please the provide me with more context so I understand why I was pushed so many times. In fact, maybe I was in the wrong, and I could have apologized. But this passive aggressive approach so unprofessional, especially without any concern for a patient taking a day and a half of PTO and having to cancel, reschedule and adjust meetings myself. Again, I must be clear: I absolutely understand things happen, but this is not how you treat patients, period. A gaslight soliloquy on mailed letterhead does not solve the issue. I've been to many medical professionals and have never been treated this poorly. I'm afraid that I will **never** recommend Clifton Dental Care to anyone. What an unfortunate experience.

A doctor should never be a salesman, but an advocate. I had gone in for a cleaning and asked if they could round off a tooth that was poking me.... 20 minutes later, the doctor had used a putty to reshape all of my teeth to tell me how much better veneers would look on me. They also apparently had to fill all these cavities I supposedly had. My doctor was appalled at how deep they drilled for a routine cavity and now I may have to get a root canal as a result. Truly the worst type of people that only want your money and that's it. Never would recommend as a dentist. Unrelated, but when calling them just now to reschedule an appt for my boss, Google lists two different numbers and their website has a third number. Shocker, all if the numbers lead to the same time with a menu to choose from. All choices lead to someone named Tristan and it goes straight to her voicemail without ringing and once you get to the end and are waiting for the beep to leave a message, the phones hang up on you. Every single time. Literally every time I learn something new about this dental group it's always bad. Don't waste your time, money, or sanity.

She said it is their standard of care despite it being inconsistent with the American Dental Association's own recommendation to only do so when symptomatic or clinically indicated. It seems to me they don't want to use scarce hygienist capacity for low margin patients, which if true would seem to be unethical.

Actually the end result was that the proposed work would actually cause more problems down the road! Patient beware. How many of the other patients could experience a like issue. After being seen here, opted not to return due to racism/discrimination…read more I was seen here and I referred several other coworkers/friends here to be seen also due to the quick appt availability for an initial appt and they accepted our employers insurance(my referral to my coworkers/friends was before my initial visit). Showed up for initial visit and was informed that only X-rays and exam are done at initial visits, then a follow up visit would be scheduled to come back for cleaning/dental work if needed. Asked if X-rays that were recently done at previous dentist office could be used instead of having it repeated. Was told no, they have to do their own X-rays on new patients. At the end of my appt I was told that they are booked up for the next 6months and their protocol is to place pts on a waitlist and call to schedule them when an appt "opens up". They stated that appts open up several times a day and when they have an opening they will call people on the waitlist and offer them the open slot. They stated that the appt will usually be for that same day or the next day and that you have to make sure you answer when called or they will move on to the next person on the waitlist. I informed them that this did not seem feasible for someone who has to work, to be expected to wait by the phone everyday hoping for a call, and then to only give their job a couple hours notice or 1day notice for request off. Then they stated "we have openings everyday so if you miss the first opportunity, you'll still have plenty of other opportunities to get on the schedule, sometimes we can give you up to a 1-2week notice, I'll just make a note of your preference in your chart". This was NOT mentioned until the end of the appt and I was not ok with this. Still, I agreed because at this point I just went through about 20 X-rays, had my mouth violated with 2 different sets of hands/fingers, and paid my copay. (Many of my friends opted out of being seen here after hearing about my initial visit.) EVERY other person of COLOR that I referred(7+people) that still went to their appts, went through this same exact rigmarole. Didn't matter if they needed a cleaning or a cavity filled or a simple paint on fluoride treatment. This was the rigmarole. Then I was alerted by one friend, a Caucasian woman with the same exact insurance as me and the rest of the people of COLOR, that she went to her initial appt and had a completely different experience. Not only was she NEVER told about their "protocol".... This Caucasian woman had her X-rays, exam, and cleaning done in the same visit and was SCHEDULED for two days later to come back for her needed dental work. Then about a week later she needed a cap replaced(non emergency) and was SCHEDULED again for the following week at her time of choice. My caucasian friend wrote her appt down wrong and walked in a day late and was still seen with no wait. Meanwhile, I and the other 7 people of color were still not able to get in for a simple cleaning. This was not the only issues noted. This was just the biggest one for me. We are currently in contact with the Attorney General, Civil rights lawyers, and our insurance company. 0/10 I DO NOT recommend.

Had 5 extractions yesterday. I have always been afraid to go to the dentist so my anxiety was…read morethrough the roof. Dr Piner had my extractions out fast but gently too. The nurse working with him was so nice & even offered me a blanket. I barely felt the regular shots & he uses this freezing technique for the shots on the roof of the mouth, so those shots were not bad at all. I felt no pain during the extractions & no pain when I got home. I took 400mg (less than prescribed) Ibuprofen just in case. Today no pain at all. I hope this helps someone else with extreme dental fear. So glad my son suggested this place to me. Now my other son says he will start to go here for his family's dental needs. I'm suggesting it to everyone.
