I've been seeing Dhanell Azada Rocker for acupuncture for about a month now, and I can confidently say it's made a huge difference. When I first came in, I was experiencing constant tingling and numbness in both hands. I had already spent six months going back and forth with my primary doctor, who eventually referred me to a neurologist. After a $3,000 nerve conduction test charged to my insurance, I was told... it wasn't carpal tunnel after all. At that point, I was frustrated and still without answers. I will start by writing that with one session with Dhanell my leg felt so much better. I've had unexplained pain on my lower leg for 16 months!!! I saw my Dr at Kaiser, then a specialist, got an MRI, went to therapy, referred to a network acupuncturist, then felt somewhat 30% better. BUT the pain was still bothersome. I came to see Dhanell and I'm so thankful! I have to pay out of pocket because Kaiser does not cover here. BUT it is worth it. Dhanell spent time listening to me and actually talking to me about my symptoms. After TWO sessions, I can sleep without waking at night due to the pain on my leg. My experience with OPR was great! I went to Bryan with a severe neck injury from training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Within one visit, there was noticeable progress in my situation. Working with Bryan over the next few weeks, I felt continual improvement in both pain level, and my range of motion. Under his care, I was able to return to training much sooner than I expected. Bryan showed a genuine interest in my progress. He would call/text to find out my level of progress. Bryan also gave me several stretches/exercises to perform between visits, to help expedite my recovery. I can't say enough good things about Bryan and OPR. I was delighted to see that Dhanell was in the area practicing. I had seen her a few times when she was at Advanced Wellness. My previous doctor had moved his practice and I was looking for a Chinese Herbalist/Acupuncturist. 3 years ago I had a serious Nora Virus stomach flu, and it has been a long road to optimal health as I have experienced consistent GI challenges ever since. My prev. doctor had me working through this and overall I was in good shape. Coming into Dhanell I had a bad mix of another bad stomach flu mixed with probably more challenges from a Doctor I used in the interim who put me on herbs that threw me off balance. I also knew Bryan Ales from Advanced Wellness and had worked with him for foot issues several years ago. I found him very friendly and helpful but never really got those feet issues corrected until I started working with an amazing massage/ortho specialist named Rheinhardt Arnold that help me correct the shape of my feet. OPR (The office is very clean, inviting, and the staff is friendly) I really admire the extra touches of clean linens, heat lamps in the examining room and a quiet relaxed atmosphere. The front desk people are also friendly. Dhanell: Upon seeing her I have been optimistic as I'm knew to her allergy modality testing NAET. She is friendly and helpful but alas so far I have not seen any major improvements. I'm hoping this will change and if so I will up my rating. The challenge is I was placed on some herbs that have seem to make me a whole lot worse. I didn't have an acid reflux condition before coming in. Yes I got a bad stomach flu but it has been a month, and some herbs I was given seemed to create a whole slew of other problems. I hope this will change and I will start feeling back to normal I have also been dealing with insurance challenges which is no fault of OPR, hopefully remedying that shortly. While stomach GI has been in severe stress, I have noticed slight improvements in other areas such as less overall body aches/fibromyalgia symptoms, less sinus/allergies and improved libido. Dhanell has been pretty good about returning calls/texts but sometimes contacting is difficult as the office is not open daily, or there are days she is not in the office, and I feel I'm left hanging for awhile which is distressing. This wouldn't matter if I wasn't in such GI distress at the moment. I do like that the office has supplements and that helps, but I notice they are not as well stocked as other offices I have been to. Overall though I feel Dhanell is a caring doctor which is what matters most. Hopefully we can work together to get me back to optimal health, it is just very discouraging when one is having several health challenges. read more

We have been coming to get acupuncture done with Dhanell for more than a decade. She has treated me, as well as many of my family members and friends with great success! I have really bad sinus infections from allergies. A doctor once advised me to move out of California to get rid of it. Another one wanted me to go through surgery to fix the problem. I refuse both so instead they prescribed me Flonase (which is a steroid). FINALLY, I decided to go to Dhanell and see if Eastern medicines and acupuncture can help me. After months of treatment, I am glad to say that I don't have to move out of California or get surgery! I don't have severe sinus congestion nor do I get them often. If I do get congestion, I immediately go see Dhanell for treatment and take the herbs she prescribed. I can honestly say that she has done miracles with my sinus problems! Another instance, my mom suffered severely from vertigo. There were days she couldn't get up from her bed because of it. She went to Dhanell for acupuncture and herbs. It's been more than 5 years and she hasn't had any recurrence of the vertigo. And another example, my husband was having bad headaches so extreme that he was having chills. I have never seen him so bad. He went to ER to get treated. They did a blood test and a CAT scan. All came back stating he is healthy and nothing was wrong. Weeks and he was still with the headaches. Bryan Ales knows feet. I've been working with him since 2010, and he is the reason I continue to complete long distance races (ultra, marathon, half marathon). In the beginning, he took over an acute foot issue and resolved it, getting me mobile for the LA Marathon. Since then we've been working through a series of issues (he's made me several pair of evolving custom orthotics). Today I have a regular preventative maintenance program with him. When he's done saying "hello", and the focus turns to your feet, it's like a laser. He is really, really focused and he knows what he's doing and (in all likelihood) what needs to be done. He also knows all the other chiro stuff -- but that's not my focus with him. I have been to many Chiropractors over the years, but Dr.Ales is absolutely THE BEST I've been to!! Not only is his equipment and methods of treatment Top Notch, but he's super nice and a great listener! He is an extremely knowledgeable person and passionate about what he does! The reason I went to him in the first place was because he has the K-Laser Cube 4. I wanted to find a Dr. that had this, after my cousin in Northern Calif. told me that cold laser therapy had made a remarkable difference in helping her dog with musculoskeletal problems to walk again. She had tried other treatments including acupuncture and private swimming therapy sessions in the past, but this was the one thing that made a huge difference. So having chronic back problems myself (4 bad discs in my lower back and 2 in my neck) from working as a Dental Hygienist for many years and from being rear-ended twice, 20 yrs ago and again last year, I was interested to see if this treatment would alleviate my pain. I searched the internet and couldn't find anyone close to where I live. I called around and left a few msgs to inquire about this treatment. Dr. Ales was so nice to call me back, and though he realized I was 1 1/2 hrs. away and would probably not have made the trip out to his office, he still took the time to explain how the cold laser worked.... which I appreciated! I decided to make the drive out to Seal Beach, only expecting to go once to see what this laser therapy was like, but after being pleasantly surprised to receive such QUALITY CARE treatment with the latest up-to-date equipment, I decided that the trip was well worth it and I have become a regular patient! His techniques made treatments at previous offices seem outdated. His office is very clean with a relaxing atmosphere and decor, and his staff is very friendly. His fees are also quite reasonable!
