I called Mr. Rooter for a non-emergent situation with a minor leak in my water inlet pressure…read morerelease value. I live alone and planned to have someone come stay with me the day they were scheduled to arrive to help with my dog and ensure my safety. I scheduled the service for about one week out from when I called, the woman I talked with was very friendly and said the plumber would arrive between 8a-12pm. Great. I had my dog scheduled to be groomed at the same time since she doesn't like strangers in the house. The day came and I didn't hear anything beforehand. Around 12:30 I decided to give Mr. Rooter a call and see what was up since there was no correspondence. Mr. Rooter told me that I did not schedule with them, and insisted I had scheduled with another plumber. However, due to their fantastic ratings, they were the only plumbing service I called. The woman was nice enough when I explained that I had someone over from out of state to help that day and that I needed someone to come to the house that afternoon. She said she would accommodate and they would text me updates. 15 minutes later another woman calls from Mr. Rooter and says they no longer can get me in today, and at the best, they could find me a spot 3 days later. When I pressed saying I had scheduled a week ago and I had people at my home to help with this so I wasn't alone she became very rude and told me that I was a low priority for them and that they had "real emergencies" to deal with before they could come to me. I asked if there was anything she could do since I did schedule with them and issues arose on their side. She said, and I quote, "it is your fault this wasn't correctly scheduled, you aren't in the system so it didn't happen." I quickly called some other plumbers and had one come out that day and fix the issue in less than 30 minutes. I strongly recommend people stay away from Mr. Rooter. They are not a customer-first business.

Midtown Plumbing - New tankless water heater install!

My setup is a bit odd (hot and cold reversed for the kitchen sink) but he figured out how to deal with it and showed me how to use the new faucet, which is different from the old one. He cleaned up well and sealed everything carefully. He was even kind to my annoying little dog! Will definitely ask for Chase again.

I just had a horrible experience with Midtown Plumbing, LLC. They were scheduled for last Friday,…read morewhich I had to cancel for medical reasons, and rescheduled and later confirmed for Tuesday. They showed up Monday, which the owner insisted wasn't his fault because computer systems are man-made and make errors (after Amber the scheduler told me earlier that Monday's appointment was the one I scheduled, despite confirmations for Tuesday). The technician told me that it seemed to work out well on Monday because we already had the appointment for Tuesday. Amber, the scheduler, called and left a message for me Monday, right as the plumber left, to call to schedule completion of work, which -- given that we had confirmed Tuesday already -- I assumed was for the second bathroom in our house that was having trouble. I didn't get a chance to call her on Monday, because my entire day was messed up by the plumber coming on the wrong day, which the owner said again he was sorry that happened but computers make mistakes, continuing to blame the computer instead of accepting any responsibility for doing anything wrong. Tuesday morning came and went. No one showed. I called today and was told by Amber they couldn't come out until Friday now (as we've had two tubs and two toilets clogged for our family of seven). I scheduled that because I knew it would be unlikely to have anyone else out before then because I would be starting fresh with a new plumber instead of simply trying to get work completed that had been scheduled for Tuesday. She said they couldn't come Tuesday because I didn't have a clear path to the bathroom for their equipment to pass through, and I explained (again) that I didn't have that clear on Monday because they weren't supposed to come on Monday but that the plumber said Tuesday would be fine as long as the path was clear, which I assured him it would be. The owner insists all conversations were recorded, as a threat that I would be "legally responsible for anything I said" if I wrote a negative review. I hope they are recorded, because they support my record of events. He also said that because I was going to post an honest review about my experiences, he was canceling the already scheduled Friday appointment. (He did offer to refer to me to a few other places, which I declined because I don't want to work with anyone he would recommend after the poor service from him. But this indicates that he felt comfortable enough to refer me elsewhere, as he wasn't comfortable working with me but felt fine connecting me with colleagues.) I asked, "so you're refusing to complete my service?" And he said yes because of all the "he said, she said" dismissing that everything I claimed was on record. I began to cry, and he laughed. I have no doubt I would have been treated with more respect by the owner if I were a man, but my husband has been dead almost two years so having him call wasn't an option. Even if I'm misreading the misogyny, steer clear of Midtown. They seem fine at first, but they showed up on the wrong day, didn't show up on the right day, and then canceled the rescheduled appointment (rescheduled from the day they didn't come) because I complained.

The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. Today's visit is why I'll keep doing business with them.
