The people that work there are great Optimum got $120 payment from me thru bill pay the third they decide to take out of my savings $104 extra on the 5th which made me go in the minus it's corporate that will screw you over and leave you with $50 to live on for 3 weeks. So I cancelled auto pay they said we can't refund your money so I said send me a check then for what you owe me. It was out all day one day last week, they gave us a *new* modem (same as old actually) and now it buffers non stop and tells you to sign in, and nobody can come out until 9/5. STAY AWAY FROM OPTIMUM IF YOU CAN I am very fortunate that I work for a company that provides a generous amount of PTO, because I have lost WEEKS of work since Optimum acquired Suddenlink. I thought Suddenlink was bad, but it turns out that I didn't know what 'bad' actually was. Suddenlink was fantastic compared to this - at the very least, when I had issues I could eventually reach someone that knew what was actually wrong, and the technicians that were sent would be at least competent enough to know what to do or who to call. Currently a significant portion of my street has no service. Every time there is a problem the now outsourced technical support tells me that my modem is at fault. NOBODY AROUND ME HAS WORKING INTERNET. The same thing happens every time. It takes DAYS to WEEKS and MULTIPLE CALLS to get issues fixed. My employer is a saint for putting up with the amount of time I've lost to Optimum. Thankfully as of this week my cell carrier now offers unlimited home internet, I'm trying it out now and am hoping it will finally allow me to be free of that dumpster fire of a service provider. read more

I have never done a review before but I have had bad experience after bad experience with them. I've only been using the service for 5 months and they've charged me over 1K for bogus charges on my bill that you can't even easily understand. You'll have to call 5 different numbers to even be able to get ahold of a representative and when you do get ahold of someone to ask about these charges...get ready to be sent to 3 different people all of whom have no idea how or desire to help you in anyway and just say they can't help you in a monotone voice. Worst company ever. We signed up for business internet and they came in and installed a house modem while doing so broke two ceiling lights we had and said they can't be held accountable. They came back again to install the right modem and still installed a house modem.. The third time was the charm and we got our business modem. We haven't even had the net at our shop for a month and they disconnect us today stating we owe $450 dollars citing it was due for the 3 modems (mind you two of which were wrong and they took back), the 3 service trips (again two due to their screw ups), and a $300 deposit fee which was never brought up once. Now we can't run our business and have to fight with them to lower the bill which I'm sure is not going to go good. This company needs to be sued out of business! read more

This is Suddenlink. They had a monopoly in my area for years and took full advantage of that. I had unreliable internet service for a decade and their customer service was even worse. Now new providers are coming to my area and they are trying to stop the bleeding. They mistreated the community for so long they knew they had to do something but, instead of changing their poor policies and service they changed their name. I have tried to cancel service for 45 days. They made the first appointment to cancel over 30 days away. They stated it was because of the "billing cycle." I was charged another month so I looked up my account, the service is still active. They did not reschedule or call me. I have NO Suddenlink equipment so its not necessary to be there for the disconnect. I am attempting to get a new disconnect date and the representative will not give a date. They state, "Please do not worry on this after pending disconnection will be done it will be moved to disconnection and as you are not using the services you will not be charge." So they will not give me a date. I assume they are trying to get another month from me. I switched to frontier almost 2 months ago, I tried to service out for a few weeks. It was very fast. My bill with frontier is $55 guaranteed for 3 years. I am still chatting with Suddenlink. I again asked for a new disconnection date, the new response is, "Usually it will take 3-4 days after pending disconnection." They will not reschedule the date. I already filed a complaint with the FCC. I am going to attempt to find a class action lawsuit to join. read more

Disconnected my account in June. It is always on auto draft and with electronic monthly statement. Just a week ago, Suddenlink reported me to a credit collection service. I have tried multiple time to login and check my statement but every time the statement page is always down. They never send me a paper statement to me either or contacted me. My mother and I tried to disconnect our home phone and cable about a month ago; we decided we would keep our internet service. Needless to say, as other reviews have, customer service was absolutely awful. It was immediately clear that whoever answered was nowhere near West Virginia and had no clue how to handle our call. What should have taken 5 minutes maximum took well over 20, and our issue wasn't even resolved. They constantly blame regional connection issues meanwhile the person sharing the same apt building w me has fine connection. 1 star rating is too generous. When you use their equipment, your service is damn near perfect. When you use your own equipment, however, your service will be absolute shit. (my equipment is 1000x better than theirs, also) When you do call, and get someone on the phone, they are apparently under a rock somewhere and can barely speak English. The language barrier goes both ways, and getting what you need is damn near impossible. I have been working on an issue since March, with no resolution in sight. I had a "Suddenlink tech" show up randomly at my house last week for an appointment I did not have. This week, I got a random letter with someone else's name but my address on it about their service. Don't you have to provide proof of residency to get service? There's no way someone else could be using my address, and I have lived there more than 2 years. When I called, the guys under a rock couldn't understand what I was trying to get at. The "Suddenlink tech" also went out back of my house and messed with wires, and my internet has been even shittier than it normally is. Everyday between the hours of 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm my internet speed goes down to around 5 mbps. Two tech visit over three month period no resolution. Tried their tv cable/tivo for two weeks. Tivo mini didn't work due to installers not installing MOCA filter. Two techs followed up to fix, but charge me $60 for service call. Blame my modem which wasn't true. I'm going back to Dish Network. I've spent close to 3 hrs on the phone with them as a result of 20-50 minute wait times to speak to someone. They assure you someone will call you back but they never do. A technician has been her twice & was scheduled to be again today but they just called & cancelled. They keep telling me they have to send a "construction team" here to run a heavier line from the road to the house. A "construction team" has never came but they keep sending the installation technician. Still yet I get at least 2 junk mails every week from suddenlink begging for my business! There was already an outlet in the wall to accommodate the cable install and the dumb a** drilled a hole in my floor, even after being shown the outlet in the wall. Now my irreplaceable floors are damaged. The flooring has been discontinued. It wouldn't have been a bad thing but the tv is mounted on the wall with nothing under it covering the floor. Seriously, I had to cancel services due to the passing of a family member. I took their equipment in to the local office to turn in. They informed me that they could take the equipment but ...GET THIS...they couldn't cancel the services & that I would have to call the 800 # to cancel the services!! I called & was kept on hold for over 2 hours! In this time frame I had to speak with 2 different people because the first person couldn't handle the call. When someone did take the call they had such a thick foreign accent I had to ask the lady several times to repeat herself. If some other company with better internet/cable/phone service would come in the area they would be put out of business! Save yourself an unnecessary headache & go with another provider.
